I really wanted a crusty roll. There used to be a truly superb independent genuine bakery on this site in How Wood but it is now a Simmons. This was my first visit here. And last. I was told there were no crusty rolls left but the server suggested a ciabatta instead, pointing to them on the shelf (price tag 85p). I chose to have it with some day long cooked sausages under the heated counter glass. £4.55. Four pounds and fifty five pence for charred sausage in an 85p roll. I queried the incredible price hike above the roll cost. "Well you had a filling Sir". Quite. I've certainly been stuffed!

Oh my word, they do the most amazing breakfast baps amongst many other things. It is one of the reasons we are moving to Hitchin. Thoroughly recommend their food. Very tasty, good selection and lovely staff.

The coffee from here is really good. My favourite place in Hitchin. We also had a bacon roll, lots of bacon in a lovely fresh roll. All the food in here looks really nice. We also bought a very nice cherry cake to take home.

Simmons have a great selection of stone ground bread really tasty other bread also nice and have option to have it sliced. Staff helpful. They also do a very good. Belgium bun which I feel sure had virtually no calories!!!! Definitely worth a detour to go there.

Whenever I am in Hitchin, I make sure I call into Simmons to pick up some of their amazing Jam Donuts, Cheese straws and Bakewell tarts. I often admire the breakfasts, sandwiches and wide selection of cakes on display. I have even tried the rainbow cake, which looks amazing, but was really sweet, even by my own standards! My advice, pop in, speak to the lovely staff and treat yourself. You deserve it.

Lucky enough to live in an area of several Simmons bakeries . The staff are always friendly ,efficient and helpful . The bread and cakes are the best for miles especially the sourdough . Great take away coffee as well .

It is probably un-fair/realistic to rate a place on one item, but having returned to Simmons on more than one occasion now, specifically for cake, I thought it was warranted. Just have to say their Rainbow Cake 🌈is beyond awesome. It is superlative👌. Bought the entire cake. £25 and some pence. Really good value for money as you're getting two cakes in one. It is massive. 14 large slices. Solid multiple layers. Amazing taste - verified via teenager feedback and us maturer folks 😋. Best advice before eating a slice - ensure you're hungry and consume as a meal on its own.

Really nice environment, service was very slow, ordered at 1:30 starters arrived at 2 then we had to wait another hour for the mains to arrive, even then it was only after we asked where the food was. I had the Pollo picante, the chicken was dry and originally didn't come with the basil and garlic tomatoes that ended up being the highlight of the meal. everyone else enjoyed their meal

A great traditional village pub serving great pub food, that has a really friendly relaxed atmosphere. The Sunday roast was delicious with fantastic service from very friendly staff, especially from the very helpful Toni. The only downside was i had to eventually leave, and it makes me want to keep going back again and again.

Lovely roast with a great home made Yorkie! Friendly staff and good service. Visiting with dogs and they were made very welcome too! Just needs a bit more light in the back area, was a bit dark during the day. The bar area by the front door was very well lit though.
