Silver Spice in Wakefield

Absolutely terrible do not go here at all. We came on many different occasions from a different city , first time they didn’t have the dish we wanted even though it was only one in the afternoon, second time we even rang and said please save us two of these dishes and they still didn’t have it . Very disappointing

Brilliant little find, 2 lovely ladies cooking ,fresh homemade curries ,minimal choice but still plenty of choice, very tasty food very good value for money will definitely return

Great little ‘ curry cafe ‘ . Just a few tables , serving delicious home style cooking . One of the last places you’ll be able to eat nice food for under a tenner . We had a portion of samosa , a portion of Shami Kebab , 2 curries with rice and a chapatti , a couple of bottles of water , the bill was around £17 total . Don’t expect service , you collect your food from the counter , and don’t be surprised how many local office staff are collecting take away lunches and meals to take home . It’s a good place for a tasty cheap well prepared meal meal

I eat here all the time, the food is delicious, the portions are plentiful and the chapattis are fresh. It's also a very affordable way of eating out if you can't be bothered to cook. My only gripe is when other customers have their phone speakers on, I mean come on, you're not on the top deck of a bus.

We arrived just as they were closing for the day but they made us veg samosas and aubergine wraps ready to carry on to the train. Really tasty food at a giveaway price and lovely people to talk to.

Ordered from our workplace. Heard really good reviews but not tried it myself until we did a large order. The curry was amazing! So tasty authentic, really. Heap for what you get and they are so friendly. Onion Bajis were the best I’ve had - very traditional similar to what I’ve had before when it was home cooked and never been able to find them as good elsewhere, but now I have. Been back since and it was just as good. You can buy the curries done and refrigerated too to take home. Highly recommended.

I used to visit this place years ago when the previous owner ran it and the food, service and portions were Fantastic. Then I moved away. I visited Wakefield today and thought I’d call in, and I ordered a chicken curry on the bone and chapatis. The bowl of curry was small and only half full, also there it was on the bone, so even less meat. I was absolutely shocked and had to mention this to the lady serving. Her answer was every where else is more expensive than here, with a smirk. I was stuck for words. I ate my curry in less than 2 minutes, paid and left. What a rip off. She clearly knew what she was doing. You can’t bump the prices up and decrease the portions! Even the take away curry portions in the plastic containers were half full. Never again!

We get food to takeaway on a Friday - I collect it on my way from work. Superb Brilliant delicious. It is absolutely beautiful and we love it.

called in whilst in wakefield and took home 3 chicken dishes bhuna,saag,karai and a lentil dish with 2 rice and 2 chapattis. enjoyed all dishes and have done so every month since we first came here. plenty of people sat in eating and a few waiting outside to order.

Great little establishment. I have visited this place many times, over about 2 years. I’ve tried most of the dishes and always enjoyed them, as I’d consider normal they are varying degrees of spice but quality is consistent. £4 buys you ample quantity of food, great polite service.

I have used this takeaway for a few times now but on my last 3 occasions I have not been happy at all I was told by one of the workers that the curry I was purchasing not only for me but my daughter as well was mild for me to find when I got home and came to sit down and eat it guess what it was very very hot not mild at all so the week after I told the same worker your curry was very hot last week and they looked at me and said all our curries are mild now no hot ones so she advised me to try another one which she said was mild and guess what yet again the same when I came to eat it in fact the last one was that hot we didn’t even eat it it went in the bin so From this day forwarded I will not be buying anything else from there unless they can tell me the right information regarding mild hot and very very hot curries and not once was I offered a half price discount

called on Saturday lunchtime to pick up a few dishes. a nice chap greeted us and informed us what was on offer that day, chose a chicken saag chicken karai chicken jalfrezi 1 rice 4 chapattis onion bhaji and somasa. enjoyed all the food and will try this again, £16 worth of curry gold

The most amazing food we have had in a while, we nipped in for lunch, and the food didn’t take long at all the say it was really busy! The curries are so so good and flavoursome, they are the right amount of spice and so affordable. We will be back very soon 😁

How on earth can they make such quality curries at the prices they do I'll never know but they do and every time I'm in wakey I'll be heading to them with a spring in my step and a fork in my hand. Pictures is chicken saag with rice. This with a drink was £4.80. truly amazing food

Just had a delicious meal from Silver Spice. Delivered to our workplace still piping hot. Delicious and quite nice sized portions too. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this great little place to anyone needing a good, tasty and filling meal around lunchtime...

£4 will get you a pretty good curry with rice or chapatti.More of a cafe than a restaurant but good food with side dishes available and soft drinks at less than a pound.Only about 4 or 5 dishes available each day but the Chicken Tikka I had was very good.The cafe is small but clean and comfortable enough.Well worth a visit.

Abra & his team of ladies make a choice of 4/5 home made curries all at only £4 including either rice, nan or chapatis - meat & veggie dishes..real bargain, eat in or takeaway...all top drawer!!

Lovely meal and excellent service. Second visit here with my daughter and as before really enjoyed the meal. So tasty and inexpensive. We will be back again for sure

Amazing for a quick lunch, but get there early before they queue out of the door. Wraps and onion bhaji's are amazing. Nice and spicy. I actually nipped in one lunchtime and bought the takeaway for that night !! The nice chap who works the counter is capable of taking about 20 orders, one after another, and getting it all right. Wish I had his memory ! Prices are very reasonable.

First time here but it certainly won't be the last! Friendly, fast service, excellent food and even better value for money. A real find!

Popped in with friends for some well needed feeding. Had a combination of rice and chappatis, chickpea curry, lentil curry, chicken and mushroom curry, chicken and chickpea curry and freshly cooked veg samosas. £1 for a plate of salad to go with, and little bowls of tasty raita to go with.

First visit but we will definitely be back here. The best curry, best ever samosa, loveliest service and incredible value. What a gem!

8 of us went for lunch without booking a table. Luckily, as we arrived there were 2 tables available to seat us all. Soon after we were seated all tables were full so advice is to book in advance at lunch. The plates available to order vary in size. You can get a veg/meat dish including rice or chipati half size for just 2.75. I ordered this and also ordered a veg samosa for 1.00. The half plate is adequate for lunch for me but 2 other people from the group ordered full plate. ...They were pleasantly stuffed!!!! Like I have mentioned, everyone loved their chosen dish. This is a cafe style interior and you order and pay on ordering. Because there were so many of us at once, they took the orders, cooked then took payment after the meal. This is not like a usual cafe and helped a lot. Service is cafe style but so polite.

You can get a home cooked curry for £3.50 that is delicious.They also do sandwiches. The service is first class and very friendly. Highly recommended.

We read the reviews about the Silver Spice and decided to try it for ourselves. We were not disappointed at all, all home cooked, very tasty, we will definitely go back. They also do breakfast, plus you can buy curry, rice Onion bagees to take home and heat up for tea. It's a very busy place which speaks for itself, go ahead and try it, the prices are unbelievable really cheap.

This is a great little family run business serving inexpensive Indian food. Samosa with dip & keema & potato curry with chappattis. All for an amazing £4.50.

I try and get lunch at The Silver Spice whenever work takes me to Wakefield. The staff are lovely, all of the food freshly prepared and prices are very moderate. The curry dishes are all tasty and the chapati are perfectly soft, whilst the onion bhaji is very spicy. The food is great, the staff are efficient, polite and charming; the perfect place for a super tasty lunch with amazing value!

Bought lunch here a few times and remiss of me not to leave a review. Simply delicious and a great change from a sarnie for lunch. Would recommend to anyone.

The curry here is absolutely amazing! Home cooked food and tastes delicious even when reheated. The cafe has a little sit down area to eat in if you so wish. Really recommend this little gem!

Had Silver Spice to cater for my 60th birthday party on 21st April in my local pub. They provided a full range of starters and mains, and everyone commented that the food tasted fantastic and wanted to know where it was from. Abrar and his colleague stayed to serve the food, they were extremely helpful and joined in the fun. However you do it, you must try the food from Silver Spice it amazing. Derek, Wakefield

Cooked for you, speedy and friendly service. A very good take away in the centre of Wakefield with a few tables to eat-in.

Yet another night at home reheating 2 home made curries. Pilau rice and chapattis and some veg pakora. This place is a real gem. Not overly spiced and no massive butter/ghee. Great food and excellent prices!

My wife pop's in here sometimes to get us our evening meal for a bargain price that does't skimp on quality. They sometimes do a lamb curry, that is very nice & of note is their lentil curries, as good as any i've had in an Indian restaurant.

What a fabulous little place this is! Lovely fresh homemade curries. Extremely tasty. Tried two different curries and rice both were delicious! The staff are very welcoming! Will definitely be telling my family and friends about it

The food was lovely. I had a chicken tikka toastie and it was so delicious. The service was great and the staff were friendly and quick to attend to us. I would definitely go again as it was great all around!

This place is brilliant. Looks like a regular cafe at the top of Westgate, but instead of bacon rolls, it sells the most delicious curries at great prices.

We nipped in here on an whim, and what a find! We got 2 curries to takeaway- a chicken and a veggie one, both amazing and tasty. Came with rice and the samosas were great! The food is really reasonably priced also, we'll be back!

Love this place - I've not eaten in but I buy the curries to take out. I've pretty much tried them all and can't fault them - 100% authentic, freshly cooked and great value. best onion bhajis. Not surprisingly it is busy, but it is worth the wait and you can read the inspiring quotes on the walls whilst you wait or try to decide which curry you're going to have!! Staff are lovely and friendly.

In Wakefield today . Wandered past this cafe and we were drawn in by the wonderful smells. A very friendly young man serving. 2 Ladies in the back cooking who obviously are experts. We had a chapati wrap and the best samosa I've had in a long time each. Came to less than £7. Will try the curry next time. Deserves to better known.

it was a shame i couldn't eat in because the atmosphere is very nice. The food was amazing and i would definetly recommend it. It was very busy. Customers after customers were walking in. However, there was not a very long wait for the food. Very fast service and good food at cheap prices.

Visited this little gem with my son while out shopping and only wanted a snack. We had 2 vegetable samosas, portion of onion bhaji's, shami kebab wrap and 2 soft drinks. When it arrived, hot and freshly cooked, I was really surprised how big the portions were and it only cost £6! Whilst we were there, there was a continuous flow of customers who were eating in and taking away. My son has been a number of times on his own since I went and said the currys are delicious. The staff are extremely friendly and the place is spotless.

Lovely staff, reasonable prices and freshly cooked, authentic curry served with fresh chapati, excellent. My favourite spot for a quick and tasty lunch when in Wakefield and Only 10 minutes walk from Westgate train station, fab!

Like many, was drawn to this place by the amazing aromas. Then became a regular whilst working in Wakefield. There's a calming quality to the place with walls covered in positive uplifting inspirational quotes. The food is always prepared fresh early each morning (seen this myself) and the spices are carefully blended, providing a delicious but not overpowering dish. I'm vegetarian and there's always an interesting choice often you're torn between the dishes as they're all so tasty. The lady that prepares these dishes is supremely courteous and obliging if you want to mix and match or have smaller portion sizes. Yes lunchtimes can be busy but that's because word has got around about the quality and value of this place. A true gem that puts expensive restaurants to shame. I'm asian and the flavours are authentic and feel home made like my mum used to make. I've recommend Silver Spice to many of my curry loving English friends and they're addicted too, sometimes visiting Wakefield just to eat at this place. Highly recommended if you want quality food and friendly service for what should cost much more.

I haven't got a problem with reheating food but when the outside is molten and the inside is ice cold that's not safe or healthy! A simple temperature spike will help get this right. Don't let this spoil what otherwise is tasty food.

Visited here at lunchtime today having walked past on a number of occasions and always noticing how good it smells. I purchased a chicken and chickpea curry with garlic naan for £3.50. The curry was really fresh and tasty without the grease you get from a lot of takeaways. Will definitely be returning to try out the different curries on offer.

Myself and my partner stopped here for a quick bit of lunch. It had been recommended by a friend, there is a good choice menu, but it's primarily a curry house. Although it's a small type cafe style eatery the curries are better than any of the restraunts in Wakefield!! £3.50 for a Currie and 3 chapattis absolute bargain. The 2 ladies that run it are lovely and very welcoming. Couldn't ask for anything better!!

The food was fresh and very authentic. There were many options with a vast selection of vegetarian choices at more than fair prices. The ladies who prepared and served were extremely welcoming and friendly. I will certainty visit again - a perfect cafe for lunch.

This cafe looks inviting on the exterior yet has a quite plain interior. However, it has been brightened up with inspirational quote posters on one side of the venue.

Me and a number of work colleagues have made this our regular Friday treat. The curries are all lovely and good value for money. We usually buy a half curry half rice dish for £2. Both the veggie and meat curries are equally good.

We called into this place to quickly get some change for the car park, the smell was so amazing we ended up coming back later on to buy some curries for our tea. Potato and chickpea curry was so flavoursome and delicious and same goes for the chicken curry. We will definitely be back for more!

I have been been here several times and the homemade curry's are excellent. great for vegetarians as there is at least one or 2 veg currys on the go. it's perfect for grabbing a take out mneal for 2 foir an evening when you don't want to cook. this place is a gem!

Popped into Silver Spice one lunch time, got served fairly slowly, but then got a seat and received food very quickly. Food was great, superb curry really enjoyed it. Very friendly service and good value.

A welcome addition to the Wakefield Lunchtime options, central location, great menu with authentic curry dishes and a range of popular snack options. On top this, everything is very reasonably priced: I ate in and had a delicious Chicken and Spinach Curry with two Chapatis along with a Cup of Tea, fabulous value at under £5.00! The staff were friendly, charming and very polite; a perfect place for a quick and tasty meal that is also great value, ding dong!

Silver Spice is a very plain looking outlet that sells take out food of all kinds and where you can also sit in. I was attracted by the offer of a choice of, I think it was four, curries of the day; none of the Indian restaurants in Wakey open on a lunch time. The choice is extended with curries in take out dishes (like the supermarket) stored in the fridge. There is a good selection of veggie curries. Whilst I was there customers bought curries to take away and heat In the office microwave. I decided to eat my chicken and spinach curry in the cafe. My portion, served in a bowl, was equivalent to about three heaped tablespoons. I opted for Chapatti rather than rice and I was presented with the real article. The cost £3! The curry was very nice, not too spicy, ideal for a lunch. I also noticed the cafe served Samosas and I'll be back again to try those and more curry. The ladies serving were smiley and very obliging. The proprietors have, I think, hit on a novel idea here. Whilst I was there trade was very steady. I hope they do well.
