Delicious meal, very friendly staff, very good location, went with my friend for a catch up and we were very impressed- would recommend!

Visited Silka tonight ( 12th ) after booking as-hoc…and what a find . The restaurant is situated in a basement , but don’t let that put you off . This place has the vibrancy and energy of a much bigger venue . The food is up there with the best Indian cuisine I’ve had , hot , fresh & tasty. The staff are attentive , polite and efficient . A real find for us , as we are only in London for a few days. Check it out , you won’t be disappointed

Recommend whilst visiting London by a friend. Friendly welcome. Menu had lots of choice and catered for all. Picked the Somosa Chatt and grilled Lamb chops along with a chicken biryani which we shared. Small pates were absolutely delicious, Biryani was missing something unless it was over powered by the flavour of the small plates we choose. Will definitely be returning, hopefully cooler this time as the restaurant was very warm

We went to Borough market and afterwards looking for a nice place to sit down and have indian lunch. The food was just amazing, great authentic taste. We had four different small dishes to share between us. Lovely Abu gave us the best service ever and made us feel welcome. Really nice place to relax after the hustle and bustle of the market.

Not quite sure why all the great reviews, I found this restaurant nothing special, although it was busy on a Tuesday night on arrival. Big menu choice and I had the Saag Paneer, a big serving but a lot of spinach, little paneer and nothing to get excited about. Onion bhaji starter was equally unspectacular, as were the poppadom sauces. I know it’s London but expensive for what it was and also only had Cobra beer which was disappointing.

Friday night in Burrough Market is very busy, as was the Silka restaurant. This was our first time here and we left feeling very impressed with the food and service. The prices are not what you expect in London and when taking into account the quality of the food it was a real surprise. We will definitely be returning when next in London.

This was a booked for a 12.30 pm Tuesday lunch due to its location and based on its reviews. It has an extremely heavy door entrance and steep steps to the basement restaurant. There was no one there but us and there is a sickly smell of air freshener throughout. The decoration is sparse and clinical. No music, no atmosphere. Another table arrived shortly after but that was it for the duration of our visit. Our young waiter was pleasant and friendly. We chose from the a la carte menu as we weren’t offered a lunch menu as is advertised. The food was delivered quickly and with a smile. The food is ok nothing to rave about. My fish curry was cooked well but not enough fish and too much sweet tomato base. My guest had lamb and she also commented on the tomato base. The naan is good. Our table was taken over by an extremely grumpy manager who told us sternly that there was only one option for dessert with no apologies. We declined and asked for the bill. At no time did he ask if we enjoyed our meal or thank us for our patronage, or crack a smile. He was quite off putting to be honest and made me feel uncomfortable. Not acceptable really for the cost of the meal. I shall not be returning.

Found Silka on recommendation from our hotel. First time eating Indian food and had the best meal of our whole trip! Juber was fantastic and took us on a culinary journey around India- fantastic experience and we are planning our return!

Atmosphere- pretty much very noisy... Service-- admire it-- great.... Food - starters were nice but Mains - pathetic... they put loads of sugar in Kashmiri Lamb and Butter Chicken, even the naans were sweet... Not an authentic Indian but a Bangla - Motor-Paneer type restaurant.... They need to improve their mains preparation

The entrance down narrow stairs takes you into this dingy little restaurant. The gloomy interior and unsmiling waiter (possibly the proprietor) promises little and the food does little to dispel the expectation of uninspiring food. Just about acceptable if you desperately need to refuel, but I would not recommend for a night out.

Visiting from the states and heard that the Indian food in London was the best. Happily came across this place and am very glad we did. Food was delicious and did not dissapoint. Service was also very good. We had an early dinner and was one of the only tables, so quick service and very attentive staff. Had the Chicken Bhutuwa and vegetable Samosa and it was yummy! Highly recommend!

this review is regards to an online delivery. left me with a very bad experience with a person i spoke to called himself Raj, with complete lack of honesty and misleading me. Altough have ordered before will never order again.

The restaurant didn't have my table reservation when we arrived. The service was really slow. The waiter didn't take down our order well, so when the starters finally arrived some of us were missing our food. A larger table of people arrived after us however got served first and left before us. The food was nice once it arrived, and that thankfully was the only positive. The staff were not warm or welcoming. When we asked for the dessert menu - the waiter was reluctant to give us the menu and said 'I only have Kulfi' like he didn't want us to order anything more. It's a shame as the reviews were great, and the food was good once we finally received it but unfortunately, the service was really poor.

We had a most enjoyable evening in Silka. The food is delicious and different from a run of the mill Indian restaurant. However what made the evening was Abs (I think that's his name) who seemed to be in charge on the night we went. He knows exactly how to engage with customers and does everything he can to give you first class service. I'd definitely recommend the restaurant to people and intend to come back one day. You have to try the biriyani!

I’ve been following Silka on Insta for ages and have been wow’s and tempted by the colourful and enticing photos of the all the dishes and cocktails. I went with family on Saturday night to celebrate my birthday and it didn’t disappoint. The food was top notch - full of flavour, top quality ingredients- cooked to perfection. We had the most amazing and unusual cocktails too. The service was immaculate - attentive, accommodating, quick and slick, nothing was too much trouble. I will definitely go back! Wir essen in London gerne authentisch indisch. Das Silka gehört auf jeden Fall dazu. Wir waren an einem Montagabend mit Freunden da und es hat allen sehr gut geschmeckt. Der Ober namens Juber hat uns sehr freundlich durch den Abend und das Menü gelotst. Die Hauptgerichte sind üppig, die Vorspeisen eher klein, da sollte man nicht zu wenig bestellen, wenn man es mit mehreren teilen möchte. Es war jeder Tisch besetzt, eine Reservierung macht Sinn. Wir hatten das Glück, dass wir Montag Mittag erst reserviert hatten und dennoch einen Platz bekamen.

What a great find, great service and amazing food, prawn curry and chicken biryani is one of the best so far we have tried. Great selection of beer and sprits very suited for food. Our server Juber was very attentive and helpful. I highly recommended this place if you visiting central London.

There were 7 of us in our group, and we all enjoyed our food. We were disappointed that naan didn't come with the meal. We had to pay extra for naan and rice, which always comes with the meal in Indian restaurants in the U.S. Juber was very nice.

Ate here Saturday 30th July in the evening, from the start service was very poor, no communication from the waiters, drinks were just placed on the table, the same with the food, definitely no service with a smile! We had to ask to order just about everything and service was very slow, the restaurant wasn’t busy for a Saturday. We ordered the cauliflower chilli Gobi which was tasty and spicy, probably one of the best things we ate at the restaurant, the lucknow biriani and the mushroom rice tasted exactly the same, no difference apart from the added chicken and the dough lid covering the dum pot was soggy and stuck to my fingers when peeling it back, it was also very dry and would have benefited from being served with a curry sauce rather than a cumin raitha, it’s the first place I have not been served a curry sauce to bring the dish together! My husbands Nawabi Korma was okay but no better than from any other anvarage Indian restaurant, however the garlic Naan was pretty good! We ordered a side of saag Aloo which wasn’t ver appealing and very mushy! We didn’t stay for extra drinks or desserts due the the poor atmosphere and lack of enthusiasm from the staff! Cocktails were poor and basic. The service charge was added to our bill and it left us feeling short changed! Disappointing choice whist visiting London.
