Shoryu in City of London, Westminster

It's a Japanese ramen place located inside Kingly Court. Book a day in advance at least if you want to get a table on your schedule. That goes for all of the restaurants in this 3-storey court. Ramen was good and the drinks were good as well. Service was good. Worth a visit.

I recently dined at Shoryu Restaurant and unfortunately had an extremely unpleasant experience. My party and I ordered chicken skewers and chicken starters and a variety of food, which unfortunately led to severe food poisoning. Despite reaching out to the restaurant through email and attempting to contact them directly, we received no response and no action was taken to address the issue. This lack of response and accountability is deeply concerning, especially considering the severity of the situation. As a result of this incident, our weekend plans were completely ruined, causing significant inconvenience and discomfort. Overall, I am extremely disappointed with the lack of care and responsibility shown by Shoryu Restaurant in handling this matter. I would strongly advise against dining at this establishment until they take appropriate measures to ensure the safety and well-being of their patrons

Been here a few times now and it never fails to disappoint. The food is always exceptional and of a brilliant standard. The katsu curry is genuinely one of the best I have ever had and is very filling due to its large portion.

Used to be our favourite ramen place in town but got food poisoning in my last visit there 2 days ago. Ruined my Easter weekend and still not fully recovered at the time of writing.

The restaurant has a set menu of 1 Ramen, 2 coops of Ice cream and 1 cocktail priced at £24. This was exactly what I ordered but ended up spending £8 more. The waiter did not inform about the set menu and when we asked for a refund, the requested was rejected. And of course, we were still charged a service fee at 12.5%.

The restaurant environment is very good. The service is terrible. The noodle soup is not thick enough. The hardness of the noodles is not up to par. Overall, it's expensive and bad taste.

Nice little shop in the area with other restaurants. The signature ramen soup tasted a bit bland for me. Best find was the Wakame Seaweed and Green Leaf Salad….absolutely refreshing and simple.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating when I asked for dessert and candles for my friend’s birthday.

I've eaten at many restaurants but this particular Japanese restaurant made everything like a book. The dishes were amazing, the atmosphere was great and it's a place where I would go anytime. One of the best ramens in London, and personally one of the best vegetarian ramens outside of Asia. Shoryu never disappoints in any of their branches. This particular one can get extremely busy due to its location, if your looking for a quieter one there’s another shoryu right by Piccadilly circus that tends to have more space as the restaurant itself is larger. However it’s one of the only branch with outdoor seating, which is helpful for anyone with a dog since they are not dog friendly inside

I have tried different shoryu in the Uk, they are a famous Japanese ramen originated in Japan. However the branch in carnaby did not serve japanese quality ramen. Firstly, the broth. I ordered dracula ramen which is a black garlic flavour ramen. But it is not black, not authentic, and theres not enough flavour of the garlic. The tonkotsu broth is also very thin! I do aware they have option for richer broth, but it is not acceptable to serve an original broth so thin!! Theres not enough flavour. The egg was served half size, the disadvantage is that it is will easily further cooked the egg by the hot broth, so it is overcooked for part of the egg. The garlic chips should also be fried so it can release extra flavour from the caramelisation. The overall presentation does not look appetising as well. The cha siu is nice though, not thin, and flavour is good. One good thing is that the service is nice. Staff are friendly. I appreciate they will ask the hardness of noodles cause not every ramen restaurant in the UK are aware of this. Overall the quality of food need improvement.

I've been going to Shoryu for years and in particular the Kingly Court branch (though I've been to all of them, even Oxford). First time rating them though. Let's be honest, it's a five-star bowl of ramen. I've had a hell of a lot of ramen recently, some were also five-star, others fell short. Shoryu might still be the best. It's just more refined than all the others and the ingredients taste better. Everything in the bowl is assembled perfectly and with the right amounts. Also, all their sides are excellent, especially the buns. Service is always good and the atmosphere inside is always buzzing, not just at Kingly Court branch, though I dare say it's the best of them all. If I had one small criticism it's that prices always seem to go up and up, but then I've been going so long I remember what they used to be. It's a touch pricey but you get what you pay for. If you want quality then cough up.

Always the signature ramen and gyoza to order!! Fatty pork belly that melted in your mouth, I love it! Well kept with their standards in all the branches I've been to.

A great place for ramen! We had Spicy Goma Tan Tan and Kimchi Seafood Tonkotsu ramen. The staff were considerate enough to ask us about any possible allergies. The atmosphere is good, however the place gets crowded, therefore I would recommend everyone to make a reservation.

Bon petit restaurant parmis tous ceux autour. Un peu d'attente quand j'y suis allée mais super accueil et bonne ambiance, surtout à l'intérieur (les places à l'extérieur il y manque le décor et l'accueil à coup de tambour 🤣). Sinon la cuisine est bonne et les portions vraiment tres généreuses, on peut même dire trop . Voilà .

A really delightful ramen restaurant. The food and drinks are balanced perfectly and it makes a very satisfying meal. It can get quite busy so consider booking or calling in before hand to check table availability if you want to sit inside. I had the chicken karaage ramen which was amazingly delicious however the texture does get a little funny when the chicken sits in the broth too long (obviously). Their cocktails are really delicious so if it’s in your budget I do recommend getting one!

Un très bon japonais. Il y en a plusieurs dans Londres. Nous avons gouté les ramens et les bao bun qui étaient vraiment délicieux ! Par contre le service est déplorable en particulier la manageuse qui est détestable et peu serviable.

Good value ramen. Very welcoming service. The Bao buns were nice too. Very busy but the turnaround is quick. This was the second time we visited with no reservation and were seated within 15 mins.

Queues to get in, but don’t understand why. 2 options available, inside and outside. Avoid outside at all costs, far too busy and awful atmosphere. Inside looks fine and always seemed to have seats available, but service so bad that queue was always forming. Order with QR codes and then no interaction at all with staff. Totally devoid of service, hospitality or even basic personality and then they charge at 12.5% service charge for ignoring you. Service equivalent to a McDonalds of Burger King without the warmth. Food is fine - just fine at besy - really nothing special at all. Noodles felt cheap and the Signature ramen had 3 tiny pieces of meat - really felt like cost cutting and cheaping out on everything. I don’t know how else to say it but my recommendation is to absolutely avoid - there is nicer atmosphere elsewhere - there is better vaue elsewhere and there is definitely better food elsewhere. 100% do not recommend. AVOID.

In this branch, the food and the mocktail are prepped with a special touch. The staff will even ask how firm you want the noodles for the ramen. The ramen is heavenly!

Service was appallingly slow and inattentive. We were sat on a 'sharing' table. After the diners next to us left, their food was left sitting out for over 10 minutes. We had to alert the wait staff to clean it and to take our order. All in all seemed like an unhygienic practice. Food took over 30 minutes to arrive. Sadly the flavour did not compensate for the long wait. Tonkotsu does a much better Ramen and the experience is less dramatic too. You see people queining outside the door, yet half the tables in the restaurant were empty. Weird vibes all round.

The court is quite nice to sit and take your supper, unless is very cold. The food was tasty but not something special who will make me choose this ramen place from other places who offer similar cuisine.

A decent Japanese ramen chain restaurant. The staff were helpful and friendly. We had the specialty “pork ramen”, fried chicken miso ramen and kimchi seafood ramen as well as tofu bao buns. The ramen noodles and soups were decent but the buns were a bit disappointing because the sauce and ingredients were plain. The beer and sake were nice.

Amazing ramen, the best pork belly I have tasted, highly recommended place, with fair prices

The ramen was very filling and the service was good. However, the bathroom was not the cleanest.

We ordered the Spicy goma tan tan ramen, which was delicious, but they were very stingy with the pak choi (it literally had one tiny sliver). Service was pretty bad. Servers were attentive and despite there being a long wait, there were many tables that were free outside but just hadn’t been cleaned. those tables outside were left dirty the entire time we were there so we sat amongst dirty dishes the entire time! They forgot part of our order until almost the end. Still the ramen itself was really tasty

Long queues but definitely worth the wait. The ramen broth was delicious, especially so on a cold winter’s night. Service was a little slow though. That’s the only complaint. But the food quality, service level and cosy eating environment more than makes up for it.

Ristorante giapponese molto carino. Personale gentilissimo e attento, ambiente che unisce tradizionale e moderno. Abbiamo preso piatti di ramen, entrambi buoni e un bicchiere di sakè che ci é piaciuto tanto.

Very poor service. Got a takeaway soup and was told it would take 5mins. After waiting for 20mins in the freezing weather had to ask for it and the soup wasn't hot anymore. I've had to reheat it in the microwave. Also, zero napkins included.

We were waiting 40+ minutes to be served and the restaurant wasn’t busy! After we complained the food came and the noodles were quite crunchy.

First time trying ramen. It was extremely good and they had a vast range of delicious cocktails. I also tried the mochi ice cream and it was quite interesting. I'll definitely go to one of the Shoryu Ramen restaurants again!

If you’re just looking for a great bowl of ramen to end your day, Shoryu delivers with a very nice version. It’s comfort food with handmade noodles and quality ingredients. There is also a surprisingly extensive drinks selection including a full bar, lots of teas and coffee. You can choose to eat inside the restaurant or in the courtyard in the centre of Kingly Court. If you just walk in, they will probably be able to find seating for you, but this restaurant gets busy, so it’s a good idea to book in advance on their website if you can.

Shoryu is my absolutely favourite when it comes to ramen. I love this place because you always get the same quality with friendly service. I recommend to try their Kotteri Hakata Tonkotsu ramen, its the best.

Was outside Sunday night, with one hour before closing time - there was no where else open to eat. We asked the waitress to be seated but she said there was no spaces available although we watched two men get up and leave.

Loved the small area where 5-6 food spots shared a courtyard. The service was great, even though we had some bad allergies, they checked every meal with us, and got us what we could eat with issues.

A lampa villogott a labunknal, lehet masokat nem zavar, de mig vartunk az etelekre eleg zavaro volt. This place is nothing special, my husband and I have eaten here a couple of times in the past, but we were craving for a ramen so went here looking forward to it. This time with our 8 months baby in a pushchair. The place was EMPTY inside at 14.30h, and they made us wait as then came and directly told us: “give us your baby push chair, we will put it away, and give you a high chair for him”. They didn’t offer, they gave us instructions. I told them that my child needed to sleep that is why we wanted a table inside where it is calmer a quieter (the place was EMPTY, apart from two tables) Then they refused to give us a table. I thought, so, you have space for a high chair but not for a compact pushchair?? I told them what they were doing was discrimination, and the lady organising the tables outside just “smiled” ironically, while the others were looking forward us to go. Avoid this place. We ended having a lively ramen just two minutes away with a lovely outdoor quiet space in Heddon street.

I have been here 4 times in the past 2 weeks, usually service is great, I wanted to treat my cousin to some dinner and a drink after closing my art show nearby. I ordered food which is always lovely, we ordered ginger bread sake, they bought it to the table, I asked them for two glasses instead of one which they initially gave me. After finishing our cocktails I went to pour out the sake which had nothing in it, I told the staff that and they took it back to the Asian lady with short black hair at the drinks counter who I’ve encountered a few times and was very friendly in the past. She proceeded to say I drank the sake in front of everyone that’s why there was no liquid in there right in front of us numerous times, I felt embarrassed, there is absolutely no reason at all why I would do that especially on a table that faces her directly. The staff I told smelled the cup there was no smell considering the ginger bread alcohol scent they would have smelt if it had been in there. Even the shot glasses, the little bit of liquid that came out one of the staff members dipped her finger in it and tasted it she said it was water ( point proven) . They in my opinion looked afraid go against her and I heard one of them tell her not to worry about it. Maybe she’s a manager? And I found it extremely horrible that she would not look me in the eye but continually accused me for drinking the drink to the staff and that I was trying to request another for free. She was shaking her head like she wanted me to feel shame for something I didn’t do. It really ruined my experience, especially with my cousin who doesn’t travel due to a back injury she ended up blaming herself for bringing bad luck to a place I went to many times. She offered ‘another drink’ as if I drank the first, I ended up saying to just forget it and told them to take it off the bill. Next time ‘COWARD’ who couldn’t even look me in the eye or smell the glass, get security cameras installed or if you have them check them. I left feeling crazy to be accused of something I didn’t do and feeling embarrassed by something that could of been rectified easily and professionally.

Sept 2 (Sat 7 to 7.35pm - Shoryu Carnaby) - Emmanuel & Misha (together with the entire team on shift) were extra caring / accommodating to a first timer like me - visiting their cosy japanese restaurant amidst their tasty , well priced food & drinks. I will definitely come back & recommend this great food / beverages japanese' establishment to family , friends & colleagues.

Serveur absolument pas accueillant, pas d'explication sur les plats proposés, ... Pas de prise de commande sans leur application visiblement... Il était assez "tard" nous avons eu l'impression de déranger... Nous ne sommes même pas restés pour finalement le plaisir du restaurant d'à côté et nos papilles.

Super busy Friday night, the host was very helpful even we were group of 8 people, he agreed to arrange a big table for us so our whole family could enjoy the dinner together. The waiters and waitresses were very kind and joking with our kids. You can tell they are good people from the bottom of their hearts. Thank you Team, may gob bless you in everything you do.

Feel like home. The team is GREAT the food is excellent. I can't wait to come back and get my takoyaky and my seaweed salad :-)

Ils sont très attentifs aux allergies et prennent le temps de tout expliquer. Les Ramen sont de loin les meilleures que j ai jamais mangé. Un pur délice. Une adresse à conserver précieusement pour un prochain séjour à Londres

A chain ramen restaurant with several options for ramen, baos as well as a good range of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. We got the ramen set which came with an option between 3 ramen noodles, dessert (mochi ice cream or ice cream) and a drink for £18.40 (TheFork special - otherwise typically £22-23). Service was a little slow between the ramen and dessert but staff were friendly and very accommodating to a last minute joiner which meant moving tables. Good vibes as based in Kingly Court with high top and normal seating available. A safe and easy choice when feeling something soupy. They also sell boxed ramen to take home which is a plus
