Shortt's Bar Brighton in Brighton and Hove

Bar didn’t open despite having an event scheduled. No communication from the manager. No lights on. No contact. Our event was even on their website. Had several people messaging the Facebook and calling the number and nothing back. Poor. Do not book an event at this awfully run establishment. Disappointed is an understatement.

Cracking pub, great music and vibe

Very interesting bar. The live music was pretty terrible but very memorable and there was an incredibly friendly atmosphere which was fun to be a part of. However the beer was incredibly expensive and I would not spend too long drinking there.

Really friendly and welcoming owner. Allowed us to grab a table before England final. Good range of beer and spirits. Recommended

Very expensive pub, but I'm guessing that their business rates and rents are behind this? Friendly staff, not so sure about the locals? Good location for my hotel in nearby New Stein.

Spent a very enjoyable evening at Shortt's on Friday night. Very quiet when we ambled in around 8.30 but filled out for the live music which started at 10pm. A friendly welcome from the bar staff and reasonable bar prices too. Worth a visit.

We stopped by for a quick drink but picked the wrong time as they were re-furbishing the place so we had to dodge the Decorators and the couldn't sit outside as they were relaying the patio. However, we got a friendly welcome, the drinks were fine and not too expensive for Brighton and there are lots of very interested music posters on the ceiling. I hope that they don't go in the renovation!

Shortt’s was just a minute walk up the road from our AirB&B, so we started a mini-pub crawl into town here. There was a really friendly welcome from the bar-lady, who was extremely chatty. We were quite early on a Saturday so it was pretty empty but it soon filled up. Nice relaxed atmosphere and a great place to shelter from the rain. Only stayed for a pint but will definitely be back if we’re ever in the area. We really liked it here. Iain, London

Popped in here twice this weekend whilst we were in Brighton. Did help it was 2 minutes from our B+B. Nice vibe to the place! Friday evening the music seemed to be good old 90’s! Then Saturday evening we got 80’s! Only had a drink but loved the atmosphere! Barmen were friendly as well! Recommend if your in the area

Had a great evening of music past and present supplied by DJs Annie O & Jimmy Lager. Very fun atmosphere, nice and friendly staff, good beer and wine selection. I think I’m now a Gavi lover converted from Sauvignon Blanc! We felt welcomed. Haven’t been during the day but could see a whole pile of board games, the decor was a topic of conversation with all the band names and famous singers. Staff were knowledgeable about the music being played when we couldn’t remember a few artists. We intend to visit again and have some food. This bar should definitely be on your visit list ✔️

£7.50 for a pint of Neck Oil. First and last time I'll be visiting this place.

I don't really get some of the other reviews my wife and I went in Thursday night, it was open mic night never been here before but we will definitely return, the couple working that night were telling us all about the different events they have on, enjoyed the beer, the music and everything about the evening.

Friendly service, unhurried but attentive. Delicious food - the best salad I've ever tasted! Unfortunately, I wasn't back in Brighton in time to use the "40% off mains on your next visit" coupon before it expired, but I'll be back anyway.

Have eaten in here now many times, and have always had an excellent meal, always very busy that proves a good restaurant anyway. Staff are always attentive and create a good atmosphere.

Bella Italia is good, you get what you see, not 10/10 but alright, if you want a cheap eat. Staff are friendly and helpful/attentive but it's just average food wise

We ventured into Bella Italia on a Saturday night thinking that it would be packed and we would have to wait a while. However when we arrived the restaurant wasn't busy but we still had to wait a very long time for food to arrive. Normally I would suggest that this if a good sign as the food is being made from scratch, however this was not the impression that I got from it. The food was fine but nothing to write home about. The best part was that the food wasn't overly expensive.

Fine place you have a drink or to have a dance night out. Great staff and I love the Guinness area outside. Food is also good. Alot happens there.

Always have a great time here. Great food at a good price. All the drinks you could ask for and they even make a great cup of tea. Very friendly staff but most of all great music from punk/skinhead/reggae vinyl djs.and bands and so on. All in all a great little boozer.

Absolute brilliant we had a fantastic time over the weekend at the Shortt's Bar Brighton DJ-ing, MASSIVE Thank you To the management and all the bar staff for looking after us so kindly. We are locals from peacehaven and know the Shortt's Bar Brighton very well and we "Highly Recommend" Going to Shortt's Bar Brighton, for a great evening/ night out.... Definitely 5 Star ☆☆☆☆☆ from me. Looking forward to going back asap

I pass this place everyday and had no idea how cool it was inside till I got invited to a Saturday all-dayer here featuring Soul music, a pop-up clothes shop and a full-spectrum of people. In all, this is what a venue should be with community at the heart.

Great bar, friendly staff and punters. Good choice of beer, nice wine and food (South African, which was refreshingly different). I didn't venture to the beer garden so can't comment but I enjoyed the live music

We had been to a concert and was told it shut at 12 but there had been a incident in the road, when we got in the barman said he was so sorry that had to shut at 11, that was no problem still had time for a couple of drinks and a great chat with the barman who was so helpful,sorted out a cab for us, and it was only 45 minutes but enjoyed the music that was bring played, great bar.

A proper lively pub / venue with friendly staff and a friendly up for it crowd, happy to dance around tables and generally have a good laugh. They have regular dance music sessions on Friday and Saturday nights. Well worth checking out.

Smashing little pub with the warmest welcome. We were only passing through but the bartender, (might be called Nick?) could not have been friendlier. Made us really welcome and couldn't do enough to accommodate us. Never seen a harder working more attentive barman. Nice selection of drinks on tap, friendly atmos and cosy beer garden. If we lived local this would be our local. Highly recommend.

The Guinness was excellent. Nice pub food to. The staff were amazing. Has a nice vibe to it. Definitely will be back once lockdowns lifted.

Cracking pub with a great beer garden. The bar staff are brilliant, going out of their way to create a table for us in a better location purely because the sun had come out and thought we would prefer somewhere in the sun. Couldn't recommend the place and excellent service more.

Genuinely amazing service, the owner made a personal effort to move us to a better table in the sun and kept us updated on the status of the chef, which ensured we had a great experience in the sun. Great food and drink in prompt service

I love this place! I've been there busy, quiet, mid eat out / to help out, every kinda way of living and every time without fail it has been great! I'm used to top level service - within my work etc and they have always been up to par! Which is rare! Recommend highly!

Filthy bar unclean sticky floors and tables the beer on tap is discusting unwashed glasses tasting soapy had bad stomach upset the following day give this pub a miss Horrible

Fui a tomar una copa, no Sol no Pinot, ninguna oferta como alternativa, pero con actitud, ¿cuál es su problema si solicita una bebida que no tenemos? . . es tu problema, solo eres un cliente y te aconsejas que te vayas y bebas a otro lugar, ¡no vayas sin tu propia bebida en la mano! Solía ser un gran bar una vez, ahora emplea personal no profesional con actitud, ve allí, sé flexible, ve allí y sé flexible, acepta lo que tienen algo que darte, acepta si no es necesariamente lo que quieres.

It has always been a good place/ but keep a watchful eye on the new manager and watch the place go under or should I say go up HIS NOSE!!

Friendly and great open mic night, could do with a facelift and some comfy chairs but really enjoyed the music, thank you to musician Joe Rivers and the pub team!

Played darts there last night ,food was lovely ,but drinks expensive

First time visit & live locally. Nick the bar mgr was so attentive & professional. I am very 'picky' wth my drink orders bt service was excellent & Megan also kept up the friendly, spot on service. Singer Jennie Castell was on who was brilliant. She sang to the mood as it changed she was so good to almost read the audience mind on what we wanted her to sing.what a g8 nite thanku

I had a very good time visiting Shortts bar with my two sons, they enjoyed their ice-cream and I had a good chat with Val.

Second visit in two days, work for council on beach clean so lunch was served hot, n brilliant will defo be back xxx

A friendly welcoming Irish pub. Landlady’s amazing. Had Sunday lunch - not up to the usual standard this week- meat and vegetables fine, the strangest Yorkshire puddings looked like cupcakes and solid other than that fine

The superb team at Shortt's continue to serve up incredible Sunday roasts, accompanied by a whole host of delicious veg and sides. A good location and with a nice yard, though sadly not much of a view, I'd recommend this place to anyone -- regardless of diet choices or needs.

We had two different vegetarian loafs, with all the usual trimmings. They were both tremendous. Generous tasty portions. The bar and wait staff were super friendly and helpful. Delightful.

First time visiting here on a recommendation, and we were not disappointed, relaxed friendly bar, delicious roasts, with a good selection of both meat and veggie options, no complaints for any of us. The pork with crackling was lovely, both the veggie and the mixed option which gives you a bit of every meat that friends had were described as delicious. Friends staff and relaxed atmosphere, nice garden out back for the sunny days, well worth a visit
