Friendly members, friendly staff,cheap beer,good seafront position,unfortunately at the moment not much sun !!A jewel in the Hove crown.

Excellent selection of drinks, views over the sea. Nice scampi and pint of Harvey's. Short afternoon visit, nice pint of Guinness. Membership required. Another nice pint of Guinness in the sun on the patio looking south out to sea. Nice pint of Harvey's and bowl of scampi.

Members and guests... Dad took us for lunch. Food was surprisingly good and rivaled any restaurant. Especially good was the stew with mash... Delicious! I had the cod and chips, which I can say didn't disappoint in either flavor or portion size... lovely!

If I could post no stars I would. After an afternoon swimming in the sea with friends, I visited this place to try and grab and drink, not knowing that it was members only. Instead of being told this in a friendly way I was greeted by 3 men that were extremely rude. I would expect members of such a club would be friendly and helpful rather than rude and obnoxious, otherwise no one will ever want to join. Shame as such a lovely location on the seafront. Would 100% recommend to go to the Hove Lagoon for a drink instead.

We often eat lunch here. It does have good and not so good days, but mainly it is ok. It is actually on the beach itself. We are members here and we think it is worth it. In the winter its lovely to feel all cosy and look out at the sea and in the summer it is just so pleasant to sit on the patio in the sun. We have celebrated birthdays here which have been successful.

Just popped in with a friend who is a member ! great lunch and good coffee too. i was handed a membership form and i am seriously thinking of joining.

Great place for a party. Been here a couple of times. Plenty of staff, spacious, reasonable size dancefloor. Sensible bar prices.

Whilst visiting this place, my friends and I were extremely shocked and upset how a customer was treated and spoken to at a nearby table. Said customer was approached by a short, stout, older lady with very short hair and glasses. The member of staff began to tell the customer off, using a harsh, rude, loud, patronising and insulting tone. The content of her rage was totally unacceptable. All customers nearby could hear this. We could see the customer felt very upset by this unwarranted verbal attack. Afterwards, other customers, as well as us, asked if they were ok. During our time here, other customers were also berated. There's NO excuse for a lack of manners and good old fashioned respect. Treat people with respect and it will be reciprocated. What a shame! Certainly left an impression on plenty of people whom were there at the time!

Visited on a whim & we weren't disappointed. Warmly greeted with timely service. Definitely on the list for our next trip to Brighton..

Prices had gone up 50% since last year,, staff very nice behind the bar .. food was average.. had a jacket potato cheese and beans .. nice fresh fish on the menu board ... prices from £5 to £11.95

U have to be a member, or be a guest, which is me! A lovely atmosphere, bit of an " old time " feel about it, being a club. Good fish and chips, that's their thing, different fish daily. Great snooker table, if u can find its available. U can park if u r a member too. Find aate whose a member and go try it out!

Always lovely there staff brilliant

I attended as a signed in guest with a friend who is a member, to watch the football. Always been aware of the building, being the last building on the esplanade, but never known what's inside. It's excellent. Quite spacious lounge with comfortable seats, big projector screen, everyone behaving responsibly, a very club like feel. Beer is astonishingly cheap, I couldn't work out exactly how cheap, but I'd guess 2/3 pub prices - Harvey's too. Very polite staff, friendly clientele, rack to park bikes, car park for vehicles from the basin road. I can't wait to go again. Sadly no food on offer, but perhaps that will restart at some point, sounds like it was popular. One of the best things about it is its situation. You are almost on the beach, on a sunny day I expect it is hard to beat.

Love this place, especially when the sun is out. You need to have a membership to be able to use the Deep Sea Anglers.

Very nice setup, was invited as a guest. Good facilities and location, the members only car park is a bonus.

A relaxing afternoon on the beach by the club. A great band, excellent service from the staff and with good friends. A very welcome and enjoyable visit.

I thought the service was very poor, The meal was brought out before the cutlery, and then we had asked for it, lasagna came to the table without garlic bread, when asked we were told that they had run out.why was this not explained when taking orders ,and at the start of service. The beer was good 😀

An absolute gem of a club. I was taken as a guest by a fellow angling pal. Great food , great service. It still sticks in my craw that I as a lifelong angler could not get a membership myself some years ago, but was told their neighbour Paul McCartney was a member. The same Paul McCartney that gave ten million a year to anti angling charities . Funny old World.

I was lucky enough to be taken here as a guest for lunch, what a fantastic experience, the meal was first class. Must make an effort and get membership for myself.

You've got to be a member or an invited guest to get in but once 'in' it's a cracking little club (actually not so little) with a great location right on the beach. Drink prices are unbelievably low. Highly recommended.

Really enjoyed it , been 5 times now and its busy every time ,, had the plaice and chips £7.95 and it was soooo fresh . Chips were massive and perfect . Had the crab salad last week and that was fab too £7.95 ..

Come here with my mother sometimes as she likes the cheap booze and seafood. The cheap booze is a good enticer and the members are friendly enough. Some of the bar staff can be quite defensive if they don't know who you are. But on a lovely sunny afternoon, it's a great suntrap to eat some whitebait with a gin'n'tonic

We are not members friends invited us the food was very good fish excellent.

Good food, excellent value drinks, fab staff and an all round lovely place to go and situated directly on the beach, always with loads for members to do.

It's the place for members only and we love to spend time with family and friends there.

Nearly 20 years since I was last in here, and still doesn't disappoint. Members only club . But the members are so friendly and welcoming .

Been a couple of times, no real atmosphere basically its a cheap place to drink away the hours. Personally I'd rather spend more for drinks at a place that has a decent ambience and where people aren't just there to drink. Each to his / her own I guess.

I am a member of this club along with members of my direct and indirect family. The food is simply excellent, especially the fish. Fresh, hot and well priced as are the drinks. There are tables to simply relax, or go outside (weather permitting) to look out at the sea view, sit inside and watch the sport, attend the events or simply enjoy the company of the friendly members of the club. Simply it’s an excellent place to chill, be safe, socialise with other members and eat good food. I am thankful that I was accepted as a member. I just wish, that other occasional visiting guests would also respect the club rules regarding returning finished plates and glasses back to the kitchen ( the staff deserve this courtesy ) and not let children run around or scream. I think sometimes that guests forget it’s a members club, and that the hard working staff should be respected accordingly.

Great place in a fantastic location! The staff are really friendly too. We watched some World Cup matches there and the atmosphere was brilliant! And drinks are super-cheap!

Excellent small-scale beer festival over the Easter weekend

Went with a friend of mine to introduce him to this venue as a possible place to enjoy a relaxed drink with a delightful sea view. Had helped with a charity night there( I was a bingo caller) & really enjoyed meeting the clientele. Unfortunately this was not the case the other day...explained the reason for my visit,was met with indifference. Asked if we could be signed by a nearby member to enjoy a drink there with the intention of possibly joining. Was told by the lady behind the bar that he was just leaving ( although he had a substantial amount of beer in his glass.) Well...not a pleasant welcome & really a place I would not visit again. Have worked for many years (25) in the hospitality industry...can only describe this place as embroiled in the hostility industry. Bernard Connolly

Parking on sight. Drink and limited menu available. Membership required or guest status with member. Various functions arranged. Adjacent to Hove Lagoon, main coast road and retail fish and meat market (very small)on road to it.

Private members club, great lunch menu, good selection of drafts beers and very good value for money. Both of us frequent once or twice a week, lunch, read a paper and meet friends. Plenty of events going on all though the year i.e. Fishing trips, poker nights, quiz nights etc. Great social club!!

Member are allowed two guests. The HDSA has the best value lunch , a friendly environment and an excellent wine list,my friends are always delighted to accompany me It is A privilege to be a member. Lunched yesterday, the delicious plaice was greatly appreciated. Thank you

We love going for a drink read the paper talk to other members then have some home made fresh fish and chips. Staff are always lovely nothing is to much trouble. Thankyou All.

The Deepsea Anglers is a private members club right on the beach. Lunch is always a treat here. Our good friends came down from Surrey this week for a few nights and the first place they wanted to go was the Danglers for fish n chips! It's always served well, and very tasty fresh fish. The club house bar and staff are great. We love the place. Best pint around. Always made welcome. The ginger ice cream is a must too!

Superb place - Nick (President) with Manager Richard run a good place along with efficient staff. Food is good and prices reasonable. The Bar is one of the best stocked I've seen. If there is a downside it's dogs and tearaway feral children, but (as my Mother used to say), "I blame the Parents". Very, very busy during Summer Months - perhaps a cull on new members would be of benefit to all.

Went with four friends, two were members. The food was really good. Best grilled plaice I have ever tasted. Just straight from the sea!! It was a lovely sunny day so we all sat outside and enjoyed the food, the view, the wine and also the good company. The staff were very attentive.

Popped in for lunch around the time of the storms. The smell of the saltiness in the air, the waves crashing around us all adds to the charm and quaintness of this members club. I would like to say that the club is a stones throw from the sea, but that would be an exaggeration, it is much closer with much of the beach making an appearance in the car park! The choice of fish for lunch was excellent, all local and fresh as you like. The portions were generous and service was good. Much to recommend the place.

We were members of this private club a couple of years ago for a year. The food here is usually very good, superbly cooked and very fresh fish is the order of the day, it can take a while to come but it's worth the wait. And it's all excellent value to.The reason we decided not to renew our membership was the terrible attitude of some of the bar staff. Rude, patronising and unfriendly - like they are doing you a massive favour in even recognising your existence let alone serving you a drink. It's all rules and regulations and they are all too up themselves.Shame - as the food and location are both superb!

Been a member her for 2 years .Has the best setting on the beach and have some great weekend events to keep the whole family entertained .Who woudlnt like to sit on the beach sipping their gin and tonic (of course we need some sun for that )
