Metrodeco in Brighton and Hove

Just had to wait 40 minutes for breakfast and missed our train. I was told that the delay was because they were very busy, which clearly wasn’t true as the place wasn’t full. Our order had obviously got forgotten even though they were overstaffed. I counted 4 people serving about 15 customers. The staff were happily talking about their holidays and dating, and taking cigarette breaks, rather than checking the orders had been processed. The chef even came out for a coffee break and gossip - while we had been waiting 30 mins. In fairness they did apologise profusely and took some items off the bill. The breakfast was ok when it came but certainly not worth the wait.

Sadly, not the place It used to be as It changed ownership. Seems more rundown, the delic muffin/crumpet sandwiches, retro look, vintage dress Code, month watering cakes, it's all gone ;(

Make time for this place. Food is great and the service is outstanding. Genuinely happy people who obviously love what they do. Highly recommend pretty much everything

First time here, really nice foo, atmos and service. Had the chilli mushrooms on toast, really good serving and super tasty, beautifully cooked. Good teas too. Will be back

It was only open until 3 o'clock, but the online business hours were not updated, which made our trip in vain in the heavy rain😭

Was on a little break from work went in this cafe treat myself to a cappuccino really nice staff was very friendly recommend 👌 coming here again

Lovely pancakes and vibe! Came here very early but they are prompt to take my order. The coffee and pancakes were totally amazing!

The Northern woman with long brown hair was clearly not a fan of me. Unlike other customers she made me pay upfront, not after, didn’t seat me, didn’t offer alternative milks for me, she DID ask if I wanted any syrups but neglected to say they would be a staggering 50p extra, didn’t bring my drink to my table rather summoning me to get it from her, didn’t provide cream with my scone despite it saying it was served with it. None of the would be an issue but she did it for every single other customer that was entered the place whilst I was there. I found it deeply saddening tbh. The other woman with a blonde bob was lovely though, as was the hot food chef so it’s a localised issue I think.

My brother and I visited Metrodeco today, what a find! The two ladies who served us were lovely, nothing was too much trouble. I had Turkish eggs, and my brother had an English. It was an English with a twist and he so enjoyed it. The Turkish eggs were divine, and I didn’t want them to finish. I couldn’t fit any more in but my brother squeezed in a stack of pancakes with banana, cream and Belgian chocolate. All in all it was fantastic and we will be returning to this little jewel.

I was most disappointed to find upon looking at my credit card statement that the cafe automatically added service to my brunch. This is awful and should be a choice. Simply handing me the credit card reader and not offering a choice is wrong. This is a choice by the customer not by them. I won't be returning after this issue.

This was such a great find, lovely decor, friendly staff, welcomed our 3 year old child, had great gluten free and vegan options but also good quality meat. Lovely coffee and cakes too. Deffo one to head back to.

An absolutely wonderful Afternoon Tea. A wide selection of delicious teas and coffees and tasty and original savouries and cakes both vegan and non vegan. We particularly liked the delicious green pesto Very friendly and helpful staff and a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. We will definitely come again.

I had just popped in for a coffee and a sandwich, well this was probably the best BLT I have ever had. Food and coffee was excellent and the service was exceptional. I will definitely visit again.

We were in Brighton for the day for my birthday. I had booked ahead to reserve a table and despite being 15 minutes late, the staff had held the table for me. Both my teens had the biscoff pancakes, which they wolfed down and said were 'amazing'. I had the avo on toast with egg and vegan sausage which was really tasty and coffee was good. Glad to see it's dog friendly too! Would definitely return - great cafe in a independent area of Brighton, Kemp Town.

Popped into this cafe (which was just up the road from our hotel) when we recently visited Brighton. Loved it - beautiful decor and friendly, welcoming staff. Food was delicious - good choice for vegetarians too. Would highly recommend & would definitely return next time we’re in the area.

Staying at The White House just round the corner, took the recommendation to try Metrodeco. Omg! What an absolute gem. Fantastic food and staff, even their cheeky metro margs for brunch. Would make the long trip to Brighton just to eat here again. Thank you!

Possibly the best breakfast I’ve EVER had

We were looking for a healthy and filling breakfast and great coffee .. saw the great reviews so thought we'd come here. Coffee was big and beautiful:) had a coconut latte , was perfect . So much choice on the menu, lots of pancake options , but I went for avocado on sourdough with veggie sausage and (well done) fried egg (as I like it !). Wife had veggie breakfast and lucky for me gave me half the home made baked beans .. This one of the best breakfasts we've ever had .. delicious and we will be back. Staff super helpful and friendly too. Highly recommended.

Another reviewer said the best breakfast in England. I was very skeptical, but now I absolutely agree! 😊 The (veggie) Breakfast Burrito Special was really delicious. Great coffee. 10% discount because I was staying in a nearby guesthouse. 6+ stars!

When it is late September and you can't make up your mind between an iced coffee and the pumpkin spice latte. And the lovely staff at Metrodeco offers to make you an iced pumpkin spice coffee... Perfect morning!

I had the pancakes with avocado and a fried egg at Metrodeco, and they were yummy. The pancakes were light and fluffy, and the avocado was perfectly ripe. My fried egg could’ve been cooked for a shorter time but it was still good. The dish was beautifully presented, with a drizzle of chimichurri and kimchi. The kimchi could’ve been spicier. I felt like the dish was lacking flavour but I still enjoyed it. My partner’s dish, however, was delicious. He ordered the “American” with crispy bacon, fried egg, chorizo crumb and maple syrup. You’d think it would be too salty with the bacon and chorizo but it was not. The chorizo was flavourful and added a nice spicy kick to the dish. All of the pancake dishes are £10.50. The service at Metrodeco was also excellent. The owner was friendly and attentive, and he made sure asked us what we thought of the food. To drink, I ordered a flat white however it was more like a latte and had too much milk for my taste. Overall, I enjoyed my breakfast at Metrodeco. I would definitely come back to Metrodeco again and try other dishes on the menu. I think that I would enjoy the them more.

Good food, good coffee and super friendly

The best homemade English breakfast I've ever had here in England. The combination of sweet pancakes and bacon was wonderful. The bean sauce was delicious. But the iced mocha, deserves 10 stars, was fabulous. We will definitely return here on our next visit to Brighton. The service was excellent, the staff are polite and help you with menu choices, and the decor of the place is very cozy.

These guys are so lovely. They were full and they offered to call me when a table became available and oh boy am I glad they did. The food slaps, the atmosphere is tip top and all of the staff pass the vibe check. Solid 10/10; no notes.

What a wonderful café. I can honestly say they made the best beans and cheese on toast I have ever eaten. The staff were so lovely, the décor and atmosphere were great. We wished we lived nearer to we could go every Sunday morning. It was also refreshing to have a wide range of rooibos teas as I don't drink caffiene.

I absolutely LOVE this café, perfect for a chill and delicious brunch. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, the menu choices were great, the food was to die for - every mouthful was heaven! I had the biscoff factory pancakes (without cream) and I have to say, they were the best pancakes I've ever had. 10/10 must try!!!!!

A very pleasant way to while away a hour or so. A wide selection of teas and a gloriously decadent tiered selection of savouries, scones (with cream and jam) and sweets. I thoroughly recommend the gin tea where you can top it all off with one of the splendid gins on offer (I suggest the Sussex Fox Hole). Highly recommended.

Me and my family came here for breakfast while on holiday in Brighton, and it was amazing! 🤩 I had biscoff pancakes and my sister had one covered in cream topped with banana and Oreo pieces-YUM! I don't know how they do it! This café actually inspired me to have my own café when me and my sister finish school. (Which is a LONG time away - We're still in primary school!😑) I definitely recommend this, because the staff was lovely 🌹 and the food? EVEN MORE LOVELY 👌Have fun!

Perfect afternoon tea venue set quietly in Kemptown. Don't expect the usual sandwiches because the savoury bites are different - home made pesto bruschetta, for example. Delightful scones followed by dreamy small pastries.

The environment and atmosphere of the this location is great and the staff are friendly. However, the food was below my expectations. I ordered a mini English breakfast with an Earl Grey tea. The teapot for the tea was leaking all over the table and the staff seemed to turn a blind eye to this. I don't mind spicy food, but the beans severd with the meal were VERY spicy, and this was not specified on the menu. The spicy sauce was soaked up by the bread and the other components of the dish, making them also wet, soggy and spicy. My bacon was not crispy, in fact it it only seemed half cooked and I was reluctant to eat it. This was a simple dish that has been overcomplicated unnecessarily. Good loction, but was dissapointed with the food.

Had a fabulous afternoon tea in this pretty, quirky restaurant. This was afternoon tea with a twist, super tasty ingredients, with a fantastic choice of unusual teas as well as a lovely glass of bubbly served in pretty champagne glasses. The staff were wonderful, super friendly, hospitable and very knowledgeable about their teas and the ingredients on offer. We would most definitely visit again, highly recommended.

Went for breakfast with 3 friends on a Friday morning. When we walked in we were told they had no food. No explanation or apology complete waste of time. Walked past again 10 minutes later and people were sat eating breakfast, did not go in as had decided on another breakfast venue.

My daughter and me were staying in Brighton for 2 days and had breakfast at Metrodeco both mornings. It’s a really fab little place, spotlessly clean, the owner Graeme was so friendly and welcoming. He makes great coffee too! Good breakfast choices but we decided to have pancakes both mornings as they were so delicious, thank you to the talented chef. We had savoury Kemptown, Blueberry and Bacon and Biscoff, delicious. Will definitely go back when next in Brighton. Highly recommended.

Just back from an utterly delicious brunch. I had the Mexican mushrooms. Mushrooms, smashed avocado on sour dough with a chimmichura mayo and lots of vibrant zingy seasoning . So fresh and so NOT the usual bland mushroom brunch serving! Graeme , the owner , is a fabulous host, attentive, welcoming and friendly. I am a Brighton local who loves brunch and knows where the best is served. This is up there right at the top. Great decaf coffee too.

A gift of afternoon tea found us in Metrodeco on a sunny afternoon. A very enjoyable experience. Staff were friendly and helpful especially explaining the various teas to the uninitiated...I tried the Black tea with hints of chocolate and chilli and liked it a lot more than I thought I would. Unlimited tea meant you could sample something else so being less adventurous I then had Lapsong Shusong (not sure if that is correct spelling). Food was very nicely presented, home made pesto was great, as were all the savouries. scones were good but cakes were too sweet for my taste. Nevertheless, I would recommend it for afternoon tea (good vegetarian option available as well).

We had afternoon tea for a hen party. We had a private space downstairs. The food was amazing! Very fresh and professional and different savoury pieces - not just sandwiches. They have unique teas like rhubarb and custard or popcorn. Highly recommend!

Exorbitant prices for mediocre food and poor service. We tried Metrodeco today but were not impressed. They add all sorts of charges on for options that would be free anywhere else, extra for oat milk, extra for changing ingredients (whether due to allergies or not.)...

Just had a lovely afternoon in Metrodeco with a really top class vegan afternoon tea! So many places that have a vegan option shortchange those diners with a dietary preference, but this was in a league of its own. Very generous size including delicious selection...

Went for the vegan afternoon tea and it was exceptional. Some very nice flavours in the savoury selection - our favourites being the open ‘cheese’ and kimchi toastie and the sausage roll. The scones were light as they should be and the cakes very indulgent!...

This was my favorite morning ☕️ , afternoon tea 🫖 & brunch/ lunch spot in Brighton. Lovely wait staff & charming, welcoming vibe. The lemur wallpaper & comfy multicolored suede chairs add quirk & appeal to the overall delight of the spot. Oh… and the coffee ☕️ was better than any I had in London and the huge variety of teas were amazing! Smashed avocado toasts 🥑 with fun add-ons were heaven :)

A fantastic afternoon tea experience. Vast and eclectic selection of teas to try. Tasty sandwiches and then there were the scones. Those things were so good they ought to be illegal. I don’t know what they make them with, but I could basically eat those things 24/7 and be fine ending up on a TLC show. Friendly and accommodating staff. Will definitely visit again the next time I visit Brighton.

Lovely small cafe.we had booked afternoon Tea and we were not let down . Staff made us very welcome and looked after us all afternoon. Choice of drinks excellent and the food also the mix of cheese bacon croissant slice of quiche and sausage roll took place of sandwiches all very good not forgetting side dish of green pesto path. Scones with Jam and clotted cream and lovely sweet treats. All lovingly presented. You need a bigger place guys I am sure you would fill it
