Played this course for the first time last week. Loved it, beautiful views and nice and dry. Friendly staff in the bar. Will be back soon.

In Brighton and Hove Golf Club we experienced the very best of British golf culture and hospitality in a memorable afternoon which we will remember always. We visited Brighton and Hove Golf Club on a windy afternoon in September. Before even getting there, we already had a wonderful interaction with Lindsay and Brad, who were extremely sweet and accommodating. On the day, we received a welcoming which was more friendly, sincere, and warm than at any other golf course we have ever visited before. At this course with a history of over 130 years, with breathtaking views, in the homeland of Golf, the very essence of sportsmanship and hospitality which make the sport special were front and center in every single interaction we had with the staff and members. Please understand that from the perspective of a tourist couple who have only played golf a number of months, this was wholly unexpected and moved us deeply. There was not a whiff of distance or a sense of superiority which are unfortunately so common at so many other golf courses around the world. No. Here, we were welcomed with smiles, offered clubs for hire, offered explanations and tips, offered every possible friendly gesture. I cannot begin to express what it meant to us to be welcomed so warmly by such an institution as Brighton and Hove Golf Club. The members which we met - one of whom a semi professional golfer in his youth - were nothing but friendly, warm and welcoming. What fantastic, outstanding individuals. We played a lovely round of golf, helped by the tips shared by staff and members. We had an absolute blast! What a thrill. We will remember it always. Upon leaving, we were greeted by Martin, another absolutely excellent employee and exemplary person - a true paragon of golf sportsmanship. He was beyond generous when seeing us off and made us feel truly welcome. He set us up with a tee time the next day. It was truly a perfect finish to a perfect day, at the best golf course we have ever been at. While we weren’t able to make our tee time the next day (Sorry, Martin!) we are looking forward to coming here again. A true, honest 10/10 experience. I couldn’t recommend it more. Book a tee time early and come prepared for an unforgettable round of golf at the golf course which has kept the tradition alive for literally hundreds of years. I wish them 1000 more years of only the very best.

A great test of golf as the course rarely plays the same two days running. It may be a 9 hole course but will give you a real test of your skill & if you play a little wayward you will be punished. If you can play & score well here you'll find other courses are a lot easier. The club members are friendly & there is no atmosphere of class distinction. I like it so much, I've become a member even though I've left a lot of balls in the rough & trees. If you want a challenge give it s go.

Played 9 holes with friends. Had a great time. Platyed in August, course maintained well, good condition. Greens rolled true and presented well. Great scenery. Would recommend.

We had lunch here the beef was absolutely lovely unfortunately the vegetables were cold they don't seem to have covers to keep it warm nice variety of vegetables and the desserts were to die for. Have been told to mention the pork crackling is very very salty

Nice 9 hole Course. Weather bad on our golf day .Quite busy . Several blind holes that may not suit everyone.

Popular local pub near Preston Park Station with a good selection of real ales. Although I wasn't eating the food looked really impressive so will have to return. Best to book in advance I was told if you want Sunday lunch.

I came here with a friend while we were on a long walk and the pint in the sun was worth the wait ... the blankets for outside were a nice touch. The food wasn't amazing but it's no frills and decent value for money. The chips are pretty tasty. If you're in the area give it a go.

Reviews weren't brilliant. Someone mentioned them giving short measures but we've been before so tried a meal out. I have to say the pint was definitely a bit short but the food was ok. Nothing to write home about though, but it won't stop me going again.

Lovely course, scenic views over the downs towards the sea. Nice lounge, bar and restaurant. One snooker table. Snooker table gone, now a computer golf screen and fitness.

Thank you for this wonderful day. Best day of golf of our trip through Sussex. A golf course so beautiful, wonderful view, wind and weather, a form of meditation. No rush, no show, just rest and the core essence of golf. If I lived here, it would definitely be my golf course. Thanks to wonderful hosts. We are looking forward to meet you again. The 3 Germans

Great golf club! Great staff and the club captain, Ian, was very friendly! Brad the pro was brilliant and Lindsay in the office is lovely!

Supper views. Course ìs nine holes which is fine if you can find the correct TEES to play off. Drop hole is special. I'm sure if one played this Course on a regular basis you would become aware of the hazards. But playing first time meant a very slow round.

Golf Society day today went really really well from the start.... Friendly welcoming staff in pro shop, office and bar.... Great demanding course which left me somewhat deflated but left a few colleagues full of themselves...definitely recommend this lovely oldest course in Sussex.... Thank you from all of us, we will be back...

Went today as visitors. So welcoming from staff to members. Course challenging but beautifully manicured, greens in great condition and overall so happy we chose to visit.

A hidden gem in the Southdowns national Park just North of Hove. If you enjoy golf you will enjoy this course!

1)Very rude staff, especially the American women that answers the phone and deals with the memberships. I’ve rang a few times in the past to enquire about golf clubs and lessons etc and unfortunately had the pleasure of talking to this women! Her attitude is off the chart....? I’m told it’s an extremely friendly club, but I think they need to do something with regards to being more inviting and welcoming towards potential customers. Golf isn’t a cheap sport and there are plenty of other clubs around the area, that ’m sure would jump at the chance for new customers. 2) With regards to you to reply, I am the gentleman that spoke to you today. My Partner and myself were approached by you with a very abrupt attitude and quizzed to what we where doing coming into the carpark. I explained that I'd bought my other half lessons at your club (with James Ford) and we just wanted to see the grounds, as we were both considering to pay for more lessons and probably join your club. I feel it wasn't any hardship to let potential customers come on and view the course as long as we abided by distancing rules and respected the land? You have certainly benefitted from my money upfront and i probably wont benefit from any kind of services until well into the future due to the covid crisis. To add the the utter absurdity of the situation, we was then met by your aggressive grounds keeper who accused us of invading his work space even though we were keeping 2 meters away from him, I hasten to add he was driving a maintenance tractor at the time, therefore couldn't possible get close to him without fear of being trampled by the machine ? He then gave us a barrage of abuse hence he was met with the same vulgar language back. I didn’t mentioned today's incident as I didn’t want to cause you further embarrassment, but I’m pleased you’ve mentioned it. As obviously anyone who tries to speak out about your bulling mentality, is met with a blatant disregard to the facts of the original conversation. I did in-fact speak to you on the phone twice after the first pandemic lockdown. I was looking for a club to buy and wanted to speak to someone in the proshop. This was met with a huff as if it was with an extreme inconvenience to yourself and was told to call back another time. I did call back a second time only for the phone call to be terminated once I'd asked to be put through to someone in the proshop. I did however visit your premises and buy a club from one of your staff, who were extremely helpful. I did mention you at the time and they did inform me that they get a lot of complaints. It also looks from previous reviews I’m not the only one that has been unhappy? I shall be ringing you in due time for a refund on said lessons as I feel my partner or myself can’t enjoy any recreational activities at your club without fear of running into you or your groundsman and suffering even more abuse.

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS - RUDE STAFF!!!! Just called the clubhouse today to try and book a tee time for this weekend. When i asked what tee times they had available the woman said in a condescending snooty tone "what does it say on the website?!" before hanging up on me. I'll spend my money elsewhere then if that's how you think that visitors should be spoken to.

Played 9 holes as a taster to join. Thoroughly enjoyed it in spite of it only being a 9 hole course. Great views. Will be joining.

Good little course with a par 3 that drops off a cliff.

Great views, old world clubhouse with a lot of history. 9 hole course with 2 sets of tees to play 18 otherwise I would have given 5 stars.

When all the others are shut due to rain try this little beauty

Golf club located in rural location, back garden/terrace in south, gives fantastic views and have great sitting/relaxing place to have coffee. All grounds and public indoor areas been recently well maintained and organized , by new manager.Feels welcoming, clean and fresh.

Known this place since I was a kid. I'm not a golfer but B+H Golf club is a part of the history of our part of the South Downs.

An enjoyable walk with your dog just beware it is a good course

The best views in Sussex. Great food and great staff.

Attended a lunchtime event here. Nice enough venue and I was impressed with the food and portion side. However the sour faced and frankly rude, unwelcoming and miserable woman that you're confronted by in the main reception area makes for a very unpleasant atmosphere. I appreciate she may not be a receptionist but she's the only person out there to ask...a smile and some manners would go a long way!

This 9 hole 18 tee course is excellent value for money. It is been around for 130 years and the stability and design of the course is what makes this a great round of golf. The signature 'Drop hole' can be a real challenge depending on the wind and club selection is the key! It is kept in excellent condition and with a warm and friendly membership and club house you will enjoy your day.

We visited yesterday for Sunday lunch. It was the opening of their carvery restaurant. Although it is a golf club it has the atmosphere of an old English country pub with a wood burning stove in the centre of the bar.So cosy and really warm and welcoming. The setting is amazing with the most fabulous views over Sussex and beyond. Everyone was so friendly even though we did'nt play golf !! The food was excellent.A Sunday roast that was just like home!! The resident caterers Olly and Adi and their team made us feel very welcome. As they are open to non members it makes a brilliant stop for walkers for lunch. We will be back!!
