Lovely family Sunday lunch. Service was excellent & staff couldn’t have been more friendly & attentive. Very happy with all our plates of food.

Period property pub with a really good restaurant. Food excellent with wide menu. Manager Jay was non-stop busy but very attentive and a great character. All staff we dealt with were excellent. Great lunch visit.

Had the 3 meat roast with a side of cauliflower cheese the meat was lovely but everything else cold including the cauliflower cheese not impressed.

We were told the chef thought they served the Best burger ever? Nah, no way. The chips were cold. Service was slow. The whole experience was average.

Went for a roast dinner and couldn't have asked for better. Service was amazing staff couldn't have done more for us. The staff were all friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere was amazing. Food was plentiful and couldn't have asked for better. Will definitely be back again. Jay and his staff made it a great experience.

Update: Oct24 - just back from ANOTHER family Sunday lunch meet up at the Shire Horse and once again all was fabulous. Great food and even better service - this time from Seb - he was efficient and good humoured, a credit to the pub. Thank you. We had another lovely Sunday lunch at the Shire Horse, meeting up with family. It’s pretty much in the middle of us all geographically so a great option with a large car park which makes meeting there easy. Always welcomed with a smile and the food, service and value for money is very good, all in a lovely pub setting. Looking forward to a summer lunch in the garden! Thank you.

Go for breakfast most Sundays. Generous portions. Friendly staff. Ample car parking and easy to get to on main A4 road to Maidenhead.

Fab catch up with friends, have to say this pub has never disappointed us. Amazing staff, nothing is ever too much trouble and tasty food. Really enjoyed sitting in front of the roaring fire after we’d eaten, gave a lovely cosy ambiance. Plenty of parking and some great walks if you need to work off that pudding.

I took my elderly mother and her sister to the Shire Horse last week. It was lovely, good food and friendly staff. Melanie served us and made us feel most welcome. Also she helped with seating and making sure my relatives were comfortable, never rushing us at all. We all had a great afternoon. Would highly recommend. Thank you to all.

Our first time here. We were made very welcome. Staff very polite, happy, and accommodating. Special thanks to Seb our waiter.

We were served by Oakley who couldn’t do enough for us and made sure that everything was perfect, especially as one of us has an allergy. She was very friendly and checked regularly that we were happy with everything. The food was very good, I had toad in the hole with bubble and squeak, followed by a mini trifle and a latte. It was unfortunate that the vegetarian toad in the hole was not available that night, but my friend was very happy with the option she eventually chose.

The Shire Horse was the perfect stop. All the staff were super friendly to everyone and Sebastian made us feel very welcome. The food was absolutely delicious with no exception (we had Whipped Goat’s Cheese Starter, Barber’s [Hunter’s] Chicken, Duo of Chicken and Halloumi Fries). We noted that it was dog friendly and to top it off, the decor was really lovely. We definitely recommend this pub/restaurant!

Lovely place, really clean and great with my kids and dog. The food was great and the kids portion was amazing. They accommodated really well for a severe allergy that one of our kids had and offer lots of options that can be altered to be allergen free. Priced really well and was extremely happy with our visit, will definitely be back.

My partner and I had such a wonderful meal here. The food was delicious (we had the trio of roasts and 7-hour slow cooked beef roast) and the atmosphere was so cosy and friendly. We were served by Mel, who is an absolute love! She was very helpful, kind and patient. Thank you Mel! X

A family friend treated me to lunch on 8 September, we were a party of 6. Staff were welcoming, service good and the food excellent, venison cooked to perfection.This establishment is family friendly, for children and dogs. Restroom was clean. Definitely worth a visit.

Excellent service and food tonight. The management were fantastic. We booked for 21 horse riders from a local stables, they had all of our food ready and served within 20 mins. They accommodated us all in a very timely manner. Food was lovely. Special thanks to both Jay and Connor, we will be back, all of us and maybe more. You did a grand job. Thank you

Called in as I had a voucher for 2 meals for £20. Wow what a deal I would be happy to pay 5 times that due to the amazing food and service. The manager came over to chat with us and was a really nice chap made us feel really welcome. I visit many chef and brewers as I like the food and this has to be one of the best

As soon as you walk in you’re welcomed by the staff, the service from everyone was incredible. Food wasn’t a long wait whatsoever it was so delicious. Highly recommend coming here if you want a quiet evening dinner or just a couple of drinks with friends!

The food is good, the inside and garden are really nice, and the staff are friendly. The problem is there is never enough staff on which usually results in waiting 5+ mins at the bar to be served, even if there’s only a few patrons.

We returned to the fantastic Shire Horse this evening. As "locals" we often drop in for a pre dinner drink. Today, we decided to take a look at the menu and so pleased that we did. We ordered starters and mains. Both courses were delicious... and served impeccably. Thanks to the entire team; Jay, Mel especially (totally cusomer focased), please continue with the amazing level of service. We'll definitely return. X

Sadly I had an awful meal here. Selected a ploughman’s from the ‘Special’s’ menu which was about £21. I got some dried up toast with 3 bits of blue cheese, a whole apple, 6 sticks of celery all on some crisps and 2 microwaved sausage rolls. I went back in to explain the bread was awful and I had no cheddar and this was brought out to me. Then once I re read the menu I realised I also hadn’t been given any terrine or crackers. By this point my whole family had finished their meals and I couldn’t be bothered to go back in again. The meal was one of the worst Iv had at a pub. Very disappointed as this pub is usually good.

Not often that I feel compelled to write a review! My mum and I had a wonderful evening at The Shire Horse last night. Staff were friendly, conscientious and all aware of my Mum's gluten intolerance. Due to having coeliac disease even cross contamination can make her very unwell. Staff were more than happy to check that the food was gluten free and despite having a few different waitresses they made us feel reassured. The food was delicious (Sausage and Mash - delicious sausages) and service wonderful. We'll be back :-)

We were a TABLE OF 9 PEOPLE ... BUT from the very start as we entered we were greeted with great customer service from Hollie from behind the bar... The restaurant was quite Busy and we were pleasantly served by The manager Mel who made us feel very welcome... It was Great to see a Manager mucking in and helping out serving on tables, taking orders and she also made us some yummy IRISH COFFEES 😋😋Aaron, one of the waiters, was very pleasant too when he brought our meals to the table... I would recommend The BARBERS SMOTHERED CHICKEN AND GLAZED PORK BELLY ... Both meats were so tenderly soft ... Well Done Chefs 👍👩‍🍳and what can I say about my desert choice SALTED CARAMEL SUNDAE ... Well this ticked All my boxes on the SUGAR HIGH!!! 😋😋 Well made by Aaron who said it was his first go at making a desert ... Well Done mate 👍🥳well what more can I say but I would highly recommend 👍 They're Open 11am - 11pm 👍 will b back one Sunday to try the famous roasts and the COTTAGE PIE CROQUETTES sounds different... We live about 3 hours away from the Shire Horse at Littlewick Green (on the A4 near Maidenhead). We used to live near here, and as we were in the area we thought we’d book up. I’m pleased we did. The food was delicious as it always had been on our many previous visits. I had the British Slow-Cooked Steak & Ale Pie with a shortcrust pastry base and a flaky puff pastry lid, herb-roasted carrots, seasonal veg and gravy with your choice of chips or buttery mash. £16.29. Beautifully 'home-made' pie. So nice, filled with plenty of meat. My wife had the 28-Day-Aged Prime Sirloin 8oz with wild garlic butter, seasonal salad, grilled half tomato and chips (£20.49), which she said was delicious. We went on a Sunday lunchtime service (1pm), and it was a bright sunny day. There was loads of people outside enjoying their meals in the sun. We decided to sit outside also. We didn’t have to wait long to order food and drinks. The many staff we interacted with were genuinely friendly and happy to help. Plenty of parking there too. Highly recommended.

Beautiful Sunday dinner for a large booking. They were very busy and accommodated really well! Some small gaps in time but it was peak time. The veg was a little 'al dente' per say but it wasnt an issue! Just something to be aware of. The roasts were amazing! As were the puddings. Food was great, service excellent! Lovely outdoor seating. Will be back again very soon.

All the food was cooked from frozen, pretty much was aunt bessies potatoes and Yorkshires. bland meat. pretty disappointing considering it used to be really good here. However our waitress immie was very good

It's a shame. This was our second visit, but on this occasion, the service was slow. They kept forgetting our food, water, and drinks. One of the bar man smashed a glass and it just caused panic, until someone finally attempted to clean it. Sadly there were still shards of glass because it hadn't been cleaned properly. Decided not to got back again. Don't want to be 3rd time unlucky!!!

Food is very good. I've been back several times now and the food and atmosphere is really nice Friendly staff and Jay the manger is outstanding. He runs a good ship! Child, and pet friendly. Dog treats and water bowls around the garden. Reasonably priced and a good selection of drinks too. Ample parking and always clean and tidy... I would highly recommend for afternoon or even an evening. (Although I haven't tried yet).

7-hour Slow-Cooked Rib of Beef, Served on the bone. This was extremely tough and chewy with a lot of gristle. I could not eat it. The Yorkshire pudding was like cardboard dry and tasteless. The roast potatoes were small and soggy. The rest of the vegetables were fine. I mentioned to the waitress that my meat was tough and chewy and she replied "sorry about that". End of conversation. Very disappointed. Paid the bill of over £40.00 per head and left. Will think twice about returning as I would expect better for the price.

Great pub, fabulous food and nice helpful staff. As a group of 3 we called today a busy Saturday lunchtime on the off chance without a booking, we opted to share a table meant for 2, but the guy said he would try to move us as soon as he could. A free table became available before our food was ready which was great. Food well presented, hearty and served nice and hot. Well done we’ll definitely be back.

I went to The Shire Horse for my Birthday with my Wonderful family recently & it was SO lovely 🥳… The Staff were brilliant & even did a Birthday card for me & a Complimentry glass of Prosecco 🥂🍾 & sung me Happy Birthday when they came across with my Birthday cake & candles that my Wonderful daughter Emzy had sweetly done for me as a Surprise 😃… It was all just Magical… 😃 !!! Nice place to stop on a long journey back from Kent. Easy to find, loads of parking and dog friendly. There is loads of space both inside and out.

Although the food was fine, the beef and the pork were cold and tough. Daisy was a good server, with quick, kind service.

Really enjoyable meal here today. Large table of adults and children. Service very friendly and helpful, food very good and reasonably priced.

The good was good, and the table service was fabulous. The only issue was that the food was quite slow at coming out of the kitchen (and it wasn't a particularly busy evening)
