Ships and Giggles in Preston

Called in at the weekend as part of a University re-union... we called in hoping to think about the good times we had in "The Ship" - the pub has changed soooooo much !! a pub that does not serve any bitter / ale ??? crikey this pub used to be well known for its real ales... the pool table had also seen better days - however, credit where credit is due - we ordered a huge pizza and it was one of the best I have ever had.... really tasty and great VFM....

may is a great server and always convinces me to buy more shots- great vibes in there

Really trampy and full of students. Only good thing us that it's cheep.

Probably a better spot at night but in the day it's a pretty bland place to be honest and some of the staff are less than polite. Good decor though really feels like you're on a shipwreck. Especially with the damp mouldy smell. Very authentic

Decent enough place, but had a lot of beers that weren't available when I went in including Guinness! Nice looking place though and was just over £5 for a pint of Neck Oil which isn't too bad and wasn't too bad either! Looks like they do free Wii Mario Kart too and nice outdoor area

I come here too often a bit of a regular, Sophie,Jesus, rob, Carrie, Nathan and Henry are amazing always feel safe, new staff are great too very welcoming

We visited the pub for a final beer. The doorman said 'there is one in every group' and refused entry to someone who is tired after a long week. I completely encourage management here to review the CCTV to see the door man who laughed and said 'my opinion is right and yours is wrong' at 1:30am. Poor judge of character as I'd already walked through the bar and could see more drunk people inside

Good place for a late drink. Ridiculously expensive though. Bar staff not particularly friendly. Edited for clarity. The reply states that they are the best value if not the cheapest in the area. Maybe they are good value as far as some drinks go, but there are at least 2 other pubs in the area that do sell the exact same drink for up to £2 cheaper. Hope that's clearer.

I've spent many years coming to this place, it's definitely a popular student haunt and a great night out if clubs are a bit too much for you.

Good place for crowds and good customer service

From entering friendliness and professionalism of the Door Supervisor is second to none. Upon entering the bar staff were friendly. The atmosphere was brilliant.

Didn't eat just has quick drink. Memories of student bars of my youth.

Me and 4 of my female friends went last night, got verbally harassed by a large group of men who would not leave us alone after we had asked them politely multiple times, went to security to see what he could do, we got the verbatim response of 'boys will be boys' and we got told that WE should move tables to avoid conflict. I am completely disgusted with this, I have never witnessed misogyny quite like it. I understand the security guard was on his own, but why do they not plan for occurrences like this? It definitely is not my first time experiencing something like this in ships, and the one time I go to talk to security about it, they make me sound like I'm the problem. Ships and Giggles is not a safe place for women, it is absolutely vile how they treat customers being harassed.

Always cheap and cheerful, fun vibes and can play some retro games while you drink. A fun place for anyone 🥰

Amazing place to go for cheap drinks so many options plus games of fifa, Mario cart and Mario party avaliable food is around 10 for a meal and is really well made

We called in on a Saturday afternoon was dead only us in . I drink Guinness but didn't taste right very thin and watery had 2 or 3 pints elsewhere that tasted ok. Music awful definitely caters for students. Had daughter with us she is 30 and she said it is not as good as it was.

You can transport yourself to the high seas, where 'Captain' Jack Sparrow could walk through the door at any moment, while still having a game of pool and eating handmade pizza.

Clearly a student pub judging by the intelligent graffiti in tne skinny unlocksble toilets. Nice place shame the taps don't work.

Great friendly guy behind the bar, but very quiet and not as much entertainment on as in the past. Well worth a visit.

MARIO KART, POOL TABLES AND GOOD DRAUGHT BEER THAT CAN BE DRUNK WHILE SITTING IN A SHIP-THEMED BARREL-FILLED BEER GARDEN WHAT MORE DO YOU PEOPLE WANT?! AND IF YOU WANT THOSE THINGS THEN GO TO SHIPS AND GIGGLES.

Great pub could do with more staff at times to reduce wait time. Love the beer garden and general decor. Also open late.

Only went in to have a quick pint, ended up having a number of shots, good fun and good shots , beer was good too.

Service great, plenty places to sit. I didnt eat apart from crisps as it was a bit late!The game pads need a clean, playing Mario cart. It kept going backwards 🤣

Brilliant place to drink, music is fab, staff are brilliant and it's the only pub I know where you can have a drink and play Mario kart 🤣

It's one of those place you go to people watch 😅 drinks are average price and I wouldn't be shocked to get a dirty glass

Really quirky pub with a food variety of beers on offer. Staff are friendly and there's lots of bar games on offer.

Honestly ships is amazing I've been served by Megan multiple time and she's always so nice and makes sure I'm happy. Genuinely recommend for students safe and affordable love this place so much especially Megan's so nice and kind!!!!!

Quirky place. With pool,Electronic darts and a ps5 all free. Also served a 20 inch pizza which looked awesome and handmade on premises.

Cheap drinks that hit hard, the staff are funny and they have shots where you get to keep the rubber ducks 🦆

Loud music, friendly staff and a dedicated smoking area make this place a delight to drink at. 10/10 will absolutely do it again

Was okay okay. Wouldn't rate it that high as there was no food on the weekdays. I visited on a weekday evening after 7 pm. So had to stick on only with the drink. Ambience was nice.... Staff not that friendly though

Was a good bar, if you go in before 8 the pints are £3 after 8 they go up so get your drinks in.

Enjoyable place to drink, enjoy music and have a few games of pool or Mario kart. I've been coming to this place for a long while and it's never lost its charm, enjoying its fun shots whilst preparing to go Warehouse with friends is my goto. Staff have changed a lot but always had pleasant experiences. Theres a large outdoor smoking area out back, theres a terrace upstairs I believe but Ive rarely seen it open and food has usually been naughty but tasty. If you want somewhere to drink and hangout, honestly this is a great place to start or end.

Bar smells a lot of the time. Toilets are gross and never have any soap. Service is often slow and glasses are left everywhere because staff are busy dancing behind the bar or chatting up customers.

Go to ships and Giggles for the beer and the pizza. Trust me, it is worth it. And remember πr2 and order the 18inch

Had visitors over from italy, had a very enjoyable evening, the pizzas were fantastic, and huge 18", brilliant.

Didn't have a good choice for wine or bitter.. and smelled really awful and very claustrophobic with all the plastic foliage. Will not be visiting again

Great atmosphere great cocktails

A fun place to hang out at with mates and have a laugh with a range of drinks and pizza slices are sold as well. Staff are also very friendly, easy to talk to and are very observant toward anyone in the building that are being inappropriate.

Haven't been here in a few years but the food was good and the atmosphere was great.

Visiting from Glasgow and had a warm welcome, great selection of drinks and shots, locals and staff were great and friendly.

Ships and Giggles what a fantastic evening we had here. The staff working were so friendly. We got a massive cocktail in a self serving jug. £10 an amazing price! Shocked at how cheap this was. The we had rum tango ice blasts. Absolutely genius! Really nice decor inside and a massive outside area. We look forward to returning. Thank you

Been several times, never had a problem. Service is always brilliant. Good music and nights out. Love the cocktails. The tutti frutti and Caribbean crush are my favourites.

Looks alot better than it did and the beer garden is nice

First time visiting the place. Female toilets were absolutely disgusting. The pub in general is sticky and in desperate need a professional deep clean right through. Outdoor area was super cute and had a lot of potential but the seats could do with some cushions as they’re not very comfortable. They had a darts board and a gaming area which looked cool. But the dirtiness of the place really put me off. Not much choice of ciders either.

Fantastic place with friendly and attentive service and a great cocktail selection that is great value for money. I would love to visit again next time I am in Preston.

Rebecca was very helpful when I was drinking here. I had a complaint about another group of men here who were committing a hate crime towards me and Rebecca dealt with the situation very professionally and effectively which allowed me to enjoy my stay. Thank you Rebecca x

It’s suppose to be a 18+ there’s more 16 year olds in there than in wacky.

Waiting to long for a drinking. Need more staff. Staff basically threaten you before you even sit down when it comes to covid/ masks regulations. Drinking range is good and cheap.

Ok but service is poor some tables are very bad overall just average

Always a great night, from door staff to bartenders everyone makes you feel welcome and their pitchers are fab!! Oh and, if you're a bloke, you get to pee in a bucket!

Useless staff. It took 50 minutes to get in then another 30 minutes to get served, then the guy took the order for 2 drinks from a table of 5 before walking off. It was then another 30 minutes before drinks were delivered.

Took a while to order due to an ongoing argument with another group, however, they compensated us with a round of free shots and then proceeded to remove the group that were causing trouble Every time I come in Ships I have a good time, and every time there’s an issue, they sort it out

Really nice outside space. Tables and menus are a little sticky but not too bad. Not serving food at the moment but they have a great variety of drinks which are reasonably priced. Pool table inside as well. Can see myself going back for drinks on a sunny afternoon with a couple of friends.

Would have rated highly and Thought it was a nice place until the bouncers come in and start kicking us out for no reason

Had to stay outside but they should be open now as restrictions are lifted, bit slow for serving but they had to go to everyone and ask instead of having you come to then so expected.

After I was waiting for an hour and half in line the bouncer thought I was someone who had a go with him a while back which was untrue because it was the first time I had been to ships in months and I have never caused trouble there in the past. The bouncer is full of himself and likes to play god with people in the queue which is unfair.
