Our first visit and sadly our last. We had high expectations. Very disappointing! My husband had fish and chips which he always chooses from the menu. The chips were not crispy nor the batter on the fish. Limp would be an under statement. I had pan fried cod with potato scallop. The fish was cooked well but £19 for a piece of fish that measured 3 inch square and one potato scallop you have got to be kidding.

A great start to Christmas Lovely festive menu for our family meal on the 23rd. Brie wedges for starters, Turkey dinner for 3 of us festive burger for the others. Sicky toffee pudding or pavlova for dessert but another beer instead for me The food and service were excellent on a very busy evening Various dingbats and other quiz sheets to keep us going. Dog friendly as well Ollie the Cockapoo enjoyed his sausages as well.

This is a chain of local public houses serving food. The food at one of its other subs is always excellent so thought this would be the same. We were to be disappointed!!! As its December, on Fridays and Saturdays, the Ship only allows people to have a 3 course menu costing £33 per person which means whether you want 3or not, you will pay for 3 courses. The menu wasn't that appealing, food was mediocre, came out on hot plates but was cold. The Beef Wellington was dry and the Turkey tough. The vegetarian option was non descriptive too. Because people were forced into having 3 courses, there was so much waste. The owners should be more flexible and socially responsible.

Miss more than hit sadly, sometimes you can go and the food is good but tonight it was mediocre. One Sunday roast was quite cold like it had been put out some time before the others, veg too al dente and Yorkshire puddings are not the best. But the worst thing was the apple crumble, it was very greasy and the crumble was very hard and not enjoyable at all. We tried here again after there isn’t much choice locally now, but we won’t be rushing back.

Wow wow wow what a lovely place to have lunch. Also good on the pocket with 30% off on Tuesdays. Just remember to book a table because it was busy. This didn’t impact on the service or food quality. It arrived in good time and was piping hot. I had beef wellington with creamy mash, roasted carrot, crispy cabbage and a carrot purée. Served with gravy. It was the best meal I’ve had for a long time. Much more than pub grub. My hubby had steak, he loved the Parmesan chips. We both ate every last bit even though we were feeling quite full. Portion sizes are good, but was just too tasty to leave. We will definitely be eating there again. Well done to The Ship staff and thank you.

Firstly, the food was superb. I had the steak, cooked to perfection. Mrs had a chicken dish, which was again superb. All top notch. But then the not so good. Paying the bill,I was told there is a voluntary surcharge. When I said that this should be explained before we eat,the reply was "sorry,I should have said". Then when I checked the bill,we were over charged, they had not taken the 30% discount off for the Tuesday special offer. Again they apologised. And when I mentioned the surcharge again, he said it's on the menu.Having checked when I got home, yes it is,but so small that it is easily missed. Why do some places do this? If they need more money, put the prices up rather than use this sneaky tactic. The wine and Prosecco prices are extortionate imo. £33 bot of prosecco is taking the Micky. I will not be recommending this time sorry. The experience just left a bad taste.

We called on spec today for lunch. From ordering to receiving our food was approx 30 mins. I ordered the club sandwich which was very disappointing. The bread was hardly toasted and strangely hard and I left most of it and also very little filling of chicken and bacon, so not enjoyed at all. My companions enjoyed their meals of fish and chips, though the chips were only Luke warm on the plate. The portion of chips served separately was however, piping hot. Staff were very pleasant.

Popular pub. Nice setting. Good beer garden. Food very average. French steak sandwich was very chewy and full of gristle, so not enjoyable. Small portion of fries. The bread roll had clearly been defrosted and warmed in an oven and so very crumbly and fell apart. Not worth £18. Would not rush back.

Great visit to The Ship, again don’t visit as often as we would like but it doesn’t disappoint. Great table outside and the food was fantastic, great service as well. The bonus was the fighter jet landing and taking off virtually above the beer garden. Thanks to the staff for making it a great afternoon to celebrate a birthday.

Recommended by a friend, and have to say, was superb. We both had the Beef Wellington, crammed with pulled and very tasty beef, lovely smooth mash and mixed veg that were cooked to perfection. Looking forward to returning, probably a Tuesday, as it is 30% off the food, which makes it great value. Nice staff and good atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Sandwiches were fine but the chips tasted like yesterday’s just re heated and were dreadful! Brought out 5 small cocktail sausages and charged me £6.90!!! Did speak to staff and said it was ridiculous but they were dismissive. Won’t be returning!!

We visited for Sunday lunch with some family friends and were not disappointed! The Sunday Roast was a winner with all of us and it always helps when served a giant Yorkshire pudding. The chicken was perfectly cooked and the flavour was lovely. The staff were really attentive as it was, before my little girl accidentally smashed her glass of Coke and spilt it everywhere. There wasn’t an eye roll in sight and staff were quickly on hand to help us out. Thanks again!

Visited for my birthday, my mum lives locally and never been before, parking ample, we were shown to a table upstairs which had a outside seating area( too cold to enjoy that this visit) promptly served with drinks, food arrived quickly and was lovely, good portion sizes. Only thing that was a tad disappointing was the cost of desserts. £8 for a pudding was a bit costly, as it was a special occasion hey ho!! We got the bill, drinks were reasonable apart from the wine, £5.50 a pint, not bad, but £8.75 for a large glass of Pinot Grigio, too expensive. We would visit again, Tuesdays have 1/3 off main meals!!! We spent £130 on 4 meals, 3 desserts, a coffee, 2 wines, a beer , lemonade and a coke.

Stumbled across this fabulous little pub. Beautiful decor, lovely views, delicious food and very very welcoming and polite staff. Our four month old pup was also welcomed with cuddles. Our moving from outside to inside was no problem at all once we realised it was still too chilly outdoors and our request to be in a more secluded area of the pub so that our puppy wasn’t distracted or jumping with others around was happily accommodated. We had the steak baconnaise sandwich which was delicious with tender steak and absolutely no chewiness! We honestly could not fault the place or the service and will be returning frequently now that we have discovered this fab little spot. Many thanks to all of the staff.

I was looking forward to going to the Ship as not been for years but was very disappointed. I had Cheese Pie which read well on the menu "LANCASHIRE CHEESE PIE (v) Short crust pastry, house chutney, hand-cut chips, apple & walnut salad". It was basically cheesy mashed potato in a small pie dish topped with pastry. The salad was ok, the chips were good but not home made which hand-cut implies. I ate it all as I was hungry but for £15 it was not value for money. My friend had Shepherd's Pie, £17, "SHEPHERD’S PIE - Mashed potato, crumbly Lancashire cheese, minted peas, pickled beetroot". She was equally disappointed, the filling was padded out with frozen vegetables and she had to send it back as it was cold. A glass of wine was £8, a coffee £4, a lime and soda £1.80. Total cost £45.80. Both of us were disappointed and it certainly wasn't value for money. It's not hard to do Shepherd's Pie or Cheese Pie well, both simple dishes which both of us are capable of cooking at home, to a much higher standard I might add, but it's nice to have someone else cook for you. Not at that price though. Neither of us will return. The pub has a good ambience, decor is pleasing, it was clean, the young staff were pleasant and attentive. It was just the quality of the food that let it down.

Had a lovely meal out for date night when we were lucky enough to get a sitter. Well had booked and were welcomed in by staff, shown our seats and promptly our drinks orders were taken. Lovely choice available on the menu, I decided on the chicken Caesar salad and my husband settled on the chicken burger with dirty fries. Both were delicious and generous portions although the “dirty” offering on the fries was tiny despite adding a few quid to the bill. We enjoyed our little evening, staff were lovely and it was busy (Friday 7ish) without being crowded. There were a LOT of dogs (all well behaved and chilled out under their owner’s chairs & tables) but they weren’t a bother to anyone. We’re planning on going back again soon

Went to the Ship last night, I am local and have been eating there for many years. I ordered the Mushroom pot pie and it was awful. It was completeley tasteless rubbish. They used tinned mushrooms, soggy spuds and frozen carrots in a watery substance. Absolute waste of a meal and money! Its such a shame as the food here once over was lovely. Came for Sunday roast which initially looked amazing however was served cold. The waitress assisted swiftly with new plates of food that were slightly warmer as they had been drowned in red hot gravy - which then killed the taste of everything else. Not a great experience. Such a shame as the beef was actually tender, but was let down by everything else.

Visited for lunch to have the delicious chicken burger only to be extremely disappointed that the burger was completely raw underneath the crispy coating. My husband unfortunately had taken a bite before realising. The chef should not be allowed to serve any more food. Absolutely disgusting. Whilst we did get a refund and an apology this is completely missing the basics from the chef. This could make someone extremely ill especially if vulnerable.

Very poor meal at what was a good pub. We had a very disappointing meal at what was a favourite venue for us. The main course steak sandwich was extremely BASIC served without any garnish or greenery and fries. Although the steak was cooked well the sauce described as bearnaise didn’t appear to be included but the worst ingredient was a horrible glutinous beer cheese dripping sauce. It was on the underside of the ciabatta sandwich and is a recipe for indigestion if not reflux! Avoid this “dish” at all costs. My partner is allergic to garlic therefore the choice is fish chips and mushy peas seemed sensible but the accompanying tartare sauce was suspect with a slight taste of garlic. Mushy peas should be straightforward but again these were overwhelmingly sweet….. why spoil them! The prices are fairly high, particularly the various gin balloons starting at £10.50 - £10.95 A basic sparkling wine Spumante £27.50 I really don’t like complaining but maybe the Red Fox & Peacock after becoming very popular and good quality are becoming greedy and letting their previous standards slip?

We live close to the Ship Inn and have visited a number of times before, mainly for lunch. Yesterday we visited for lunch for the first time in a while and found ourselves disappointed and feeling taken advantage of. We arrived early, the Inn was almost empty apart from a large family - we were surprised at this as the Inn had always been busy when we visited in the past. The lunch menu was restricted and we ended up ordering two sandwiches - cheese and ham (toasted) with filthy fries and a fishfinger sandwich with what we thought would be hand cut chunky chips, but which turned out to be plain fries. Cheese and ham sandwich was nice, although lacking in filling - the filthy fries had aioli and bacon bits on the top (from a packet not actual bacon) - the cost was £7.75 and £5.75 respectively. The fish finger sandwich was bland to the point of tastelessness, the hand cut chunky chips were in fact plain french fries that were also devoid of flavour - the cost was £8.50 and £4.75 respectively. Neither of the meals match the standard of the Ship Inn we had visited before in that the food was pretty much lacking in taste and substance. The real issue is the cost - the food simply was not worth the price and it beggars belief how they get to those prices even with a standards of living crisis. Can I suggest to all those thinking of going to the Ship Inn to first try Lytham Kitchen in Lytham - extremely good food at about half the price. Needless to say we will not venture in to the Ship Inn again.

Faultless. Visited on a sunny Tuesday lunchtime. Found a table in the lovely beer garden. We didn’t get a seat overlooking the marshes but we’re surrounded by flowers and very snug. The dog was happy in the shade under the table. Good choice of beer...

The pub is in a great setting and the views over the surrounding countryside from the terrace and the balcony are really nice. It's also really nicely fitted out inside and outside (lovely terrace and a great balcony) ... but we were disappointed on two...

We love The Ship. It has the perfect combination of pub and eatery, not too much of a restaurant. The food was fabulous. The service was perfect. Especially Callum and Ronny, who are such professionals with the perfect blend of friendliness. We will absolutely be...

We have dined at many gastro type pubs over the years- the greeting was appalling and the food served was exactly the same. Will never grace it’s doors again- bread served on one of the dishes was so hard you couldn’t get your teeth through...

Looked online to check opening times before going and all said open at 09:00. Arrived at the cafe just after 9 and door was locked with a closed sign on it. Waited a few minutes as thought they were running a bit late for opening which was OK. My partner then asked through the open window around the side what time they were open and he got the reply '9 O'clock' 'Oh it's seven minutes past now' was my partners reply to the person who had replied, who didn't respond further. We waited a few more minutes until someone unlocked the front door and turned the sign around from closed to open then just let the door slam shut. No communication or apology from this member of staff for not opening on time, which we both thought was very rude and didn't make us feel like we wanted to part with our money to a place whose employees obviously weren't bothered. We decided to take our custom to Toby carvery for one of their buffet breakfasts which is only 5 minutes away. We then came back to the lake for a walk around and had a lovely drink from the RSPB visitor centre and a lovely chat with the staff there.

Visited here for boxing day, even though it was a busy day for the staff, it was well ran and staff were lovely. Food arrived quick and hot with plenty of choices on the menu especially with a vegetarian being in the family. The place was clean and tidy with a family atmosphere. We are regulars here and will continue to visit especially with new management.
