We hadn't visited for many years and I am pleased to report that our experience was excellent. The pub was warm and welcoming, the bar staff were very friendly and, contrary to many country pubs nowadays, they sensibly had a 'light bites' menu. Unlike many country pubs these days the food was good value for money, which hopefully ensures a good footfall. The bitter beer was in good condition but priced at current business levels. Overall highly recommended.

Came across this place after visiting Arundel, lovely little pub very cosy we had a fantastic meal, excellent value for money. it was so nice we stayed until closing time and got a taxi back to our hotel. Russell and Claire the pub managers were brilliant hosts. We even came back in the morning for breakfast the next day, which was top-notch and much better value than the hotel breakfast that would’ve been offered. The whole site where the pub is situated is amazing there’s a campsite with a marina and a lovely river walk. Will definitely be back in the summer to visit again.

Visited as we were in the area. We were welcomed in and seated quickly. The staff are lovely and friendly. Great service, and the food was fantastic (we opted for the Sunday roast, and we were not disappointed with the amount of meat on the plate! Certainly a good portion to fill the belly). Would definitely recommend the Ship & Anchor, and we will be returning in the future.

The campsite is basic but quite lovely, Natalia the warden is very helpful. The pub is great, but I must have been very unlucky with my meal. The table next to me at lunchtime had superb looking mussels in a pure white creamy sauce. In the evening mine were in a brown sauce, (burnt cream or butter?) and so cover in pepper my lips tingled, it was inedible. So £50 for two glasses of wine then. So disappointed, I had hoped this would be a regular destination.

Service couldn’t be faulted, very friendly and helpful staff. However the food was awful for the price we paid - fish cake was mainly lumps of mash potato and both other dishes we had were extremely over cooked. For the price expected much higher quality :(

1st visit. It’ll be the last. Had to wait half an hour after our food had come out for the last persons food. We had all finished. Not that we had finished it as chips are awful, fishcake was all mash. 2 small bits of fish was counted!! BLT was cold and very fatty bacon. Not on bloomer like it says on menu but in packet bread for shop. Latta tasted of milkshake and was cold. Unfortunately couldn’t complain as the queue was so long because there’s one till and they were trying to refund lots of people. Not sure why 🤔.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Before stumbling upon the Ship & Anchor Pub, I had never experienced such a delightful combination of charm and warmth in a pub setting. From the moment I walked through its doors, I was captivated by both its cozy ambiance and the friendly atmosphere that enveloped the place. First and foremost, the staff at Ship & Anchor Pub deserve accolades for their outstanding service. They welcomed me with genuine smiles and made me feel instantly at ease. Their attentiveness, efficient order handling, and helpful suggestions regarding the vast array of beers and spirits were truly commendable. It was evident that the staff members love what they do, and it translated into an unparalleled customer experience. The decor and layout of the pub are nothing short of exquisite. Ship & Anchor Pub has managed to strike a perfect balance between being a traditional British pub and a modern establishment, creating a unique and inviting environment. The wooden accents and vintage paraphernalia adorning the walls exuded a sense of nostalgia, while the comforting plush seating areas made it almost impossible to leave. Whether you're looking for a cozy corner to relax with friends or a lively spot to watch sports events, this pub has it all. Now, let's talk about the main attraction: the food and beverage offerings. Ship & Anchor Pub boasts an impressive selection of drinks, from traditional ales to craft beers that cater to discerning palates. I was particularly enthralled by the variety of spirits available, and the skilled bartenders managed to whip up some of the finest cocktails I've ever tasted. The pub's food menu was no less impressive. With a delightful combination of classic pub fare and international dishes, there's something to satisfy every craving. From juicy burgers to mouthwatering fish and chips, every dish was prepared with utmost care and attention to detail. I highly recommend trying their signature items, such as the Ship's Platter or the Beer-Battered Onion Rings - they are simply divine! Further enhancing the experience at Ship & Anchor Pub are the regular events, live music performances, and pub quizzes. The pub has truly become a community hub, fostering a sense of camaraderie among its patrons. It is a testament to the dedication and passion of the owners and staff, who continuously go above and beyond to make every visit memorable. In conclusion, Ship & Anchor Pub is a hidden gem that embodies everything a pub should be - a cozy haven with exceptional service, delightful drinks, and delectable food. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this pub is an absolute must-visit. Ship & Anchor Pub, thank you for the unforgettable experiences and for continuously creating an atmosphere that feels like home.

Our first try with this place and not disappointed at all! The food was excellent, the satay sauce superb, the portions a good size. We had 1/4 duck with extra pancakes, pancake roll and prawn satay as starters. There was a good quantity of duck, the pancake roll was lovely and the prawns were as delicious as the sauce. The main dishes were as delicious as the starters, the Char Sui was the best I've had in 40 years. If your looking for good food that is delivered in the promised time, it's the best I've had in Bognor.
