Had a takeaway Chicken Teriyaki with Sushi rice and tempura prawn. Excellent food that was cooked quickly and tasted delicious. Would recommend

I always adore a visit to Shinsen. The artistry and care put into the sushi rolls make them that much more delicious. I love trying everything on the menu, and recommend you don't skip dessert either! Staff are always very chatty and helpful too!

Commande deliveroo at 9.30pm, wait 1 hour, nothing... I phone to them, ok for 30 of late... 11.00, I receive a call for cancel.... VERY SERIOUS. NOT THANK YOU FROM MY CHILDREN. NOTHING TO EAT THIS EVENING.

Love this spot, it’s an everyday must for me. Perfect quality every time, fast service and all the staff are wonderful. £5 lunch menus are unparalleled for price and they even have a reward scheme attached. Cannot recommend enough.

Truly disgusting. Charged £13 for Prawn Katsu curry which consisted of three soggy prawns and a bowl of tepid rice covered in lukewarm over-salty gloop that clearly hadn't been microwaved long. Was super hungry and in a hurry, but left most if it as was concerned it would make me sick. I don't like to leave bad reviews, but with so many good options in Edinburgh, there's no excuse for such poor quality food. Take care of your stomach, taste-buds and cash and avoid!

The atmosphere is serene, the seats are comfortable and the service is fast. The sushi was fantastic and the chicken katsu was one of the best I had in a long while.

Great find for Saturday lunch within easy walking distance of St James Quarter shopping area. Had Pork Teriyaki, California rolls and small Chicken Katsu. All three were excellent and service friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Dined in with food so fresh, well presented and very tasty. We were a group of four; French, English, Dutch and Spanish where expectations of the food are not always high from the island. Left surprised and very very happy.

Went for a quick lunch. Took Katsu curry and teriyaki. Both were bad. I had the Teriyaki. The sauce was not nice and the rice was lukewarm . My friend left three quarters of hers so I guess he thought the same. Don't know the issue with the Katsu but friend said it also was not nice. Won't be back. In addition their five quid lunch is for take away which was not obvious to me in their marketing.

Stumbled upon this Edinburgh gem and delighted by the food. Had the chicken teriyaki which was lovely. Certainly worth a visit.

I’ve been here first with my partner and again on my own. Is very quick to prepare your food, the £5 lunch offer is well worth it! I also believe you are able to sit in again. Both times were excellent and this is now my go to for Japanese cuisine. 10/10!

Came here for lunch whilst in Edinburgh overnight, but items we wanted on the menu they did not have. Few things we asked for including ice which they didn't have. For me there were too many items that were on the menu but they did not have the ingredients. So third choices arrived which did not look very appetising except one dish which had flowers on it, but were very tasty and that saved the lunch. Also gave me lots more ginger which I love so ended up a good lunch after all. Cute wee place.

Spur of the moment lunch chicken Katsu very filling. Several items not available. Tuna sashimi nicely presented. The restaurant is small, and appears to do bust takeaway business. Staff member was attentive but this was probably more to do with only two other customers. An enjoyable lunch though

I’ve been looking for good sushi for a long time and finally I’ve found shinsen . I went there recently and I was glad to leave that place full and happy . The quality of food is on a high rate. The staff is very friendly . Highly recommended . I’ll be back again for sure

Dropped in purely by chance to try this place out. The person who served us was extremely attentive, friendly and pleasant to speak to. Both of us got curry soups and it was honestly the tastiest ramen either of us have ever had

I come from Paris and even me I have never eaten such wonderful rolls. The salmon was INASNE as well as the bubble tea. Really the place to go if you want to eat some maki and sushi and other thing 😊
