Takeaway in March 2023, had been using this place for years with no complaints, then the takeaway in March 2023 made us ill. Then we saw the 0 Hygiene rating. Haven’t been back since. Noticed their current rating is 2. What more to be said.

Very friendly staff and are happy to help. They can be very funny! Lovely atmospheres to be around and very welcoming. They have some great deals on throughout the week if you’re eating out on a budget. It isn’t a very expensive restaurant generally and you definitely get value for money. Delicious food and fresh. Always comes hot! It is quite small inside so if there is quite a large party of you, I would recommend booking. I also order as a takeaway quite regularly and it’s just as delicious. Can get busy on weekends so i would recommend ordering as soon as possible or collecting as opposed to delivery.

From the moment the door was opened for us on arrival, to the moment it was opened for us to leave, we received first class treatment. The quality of the food was outstanding and nothing was too much trouble. Excellent quality, highly recommended.

First time at Shimla and we were not disappointed. The food was delicious, the staff were so friendly and we had an amazing time. They were very accommodating of my daughters allergy to egg and made sure that we were enjoying our food. I couldn't believe that we had such a great quality meal for 4 people for under £50 and we will definitely be going back. The currys were all so flavoursome and the naan was as fresh as can be. They gladly packed up a couple of dishes for us to take home so that we didn't waste anything. Massive thank you to the staff at Shimla, they were just amazing and made a huge fuss of the kids which was lovely. Highly recommended for a great night out that won't break the bank

This is one of the best Indian food to eat in or deliver. The team are great the guy who owns it is lovely makes you feel like family when you visit. The food quality is honestly best around Wolverhampton. The portion sizes are perfect. If you need anything changing tweaking ask them they will accommodate your needs. We found this through reviews on trip advisor, when you get to the place its not exactly inspiring from the outside, the decor inside and the tables are not the best, and need a bit of tlc, but you can see through to the kitchen and it looked clean, the staff were super friendly and the food was superb, very busy, everything was hot and very tasty, and great value, you can even take all your own drink if you want to!! All in all this was superb, a great place to have an Indian meal.

This is a great little restaurant, our favourite place for a curry. The food is amazing, there is a wide choice of traditional meals plus a good specials section on the menu. The dining area is quite small though and very popular so be sure to book if you don’t want to be disappointed - however you can always have a takeaway instead!

This is a review for the take away service. I felt compelled to write this because our order was utterly delicious! I drove to Shimla Balti to order dinner for me and fussy teenage daughter. She only ever has chicken Balti and chips and I tried the chicken chom chom with a green salad as i was intrigued after hearing a family ordering it! I was not disappointed!! After around 20 minutes my order was ready to go….brilliant service! The food was freshly cooked and was delicious in every way!! The chicken chom chom was a very pleasant surprise which I’ll be ordering again it was perfect!! We both thoroughly recommend Shimla Balti to take out…10/10 The dine in experience seemed to be popular too and it’s no wonder really when the food and service is this good! Thank you Shimla Balti 😊

My neighbours treated me to a meal at Shem's fantastic Shimla Balti last night. And although we went on the spur of the moment, and on a match day, we were seated straight away at 5:30pm. After previously only eating take away from here, this was my first time eating in. And what a great experience it was too. The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly, and although they were busy, nothing was too much trouble for them. The owner Shem took time to come out and meet his diners, many of whom were regulars, and shows why this place is so popular. As for the food itself, it was among the best Indian cuisine I've ever had. And the prices were so good too. For five meals (three eating in and two to take out for other people) including rice, poppadums and naan breads, it came to just under £60. I will definitely be returning to eat in at Shimla Balti with the rest of the family. Not to mention continuing to use their brilliant take out service too!

We booked a table for 4 and arrived a few minutes early. We were kept waiting for over 10 minutes to be shown to our table as the waitress was continually answering the phone. Two people who went in before us just left in disgust. Once seated, we had to wait over 20 minutes for the waitress to take our order as the phone never stopped. Please bear in mind that we were the only customers in the restaurant. When the waitress eventually started to take our order, she left half way through to answer the phone and was gone for another 5 minutes. Quite honestly, we were ready to get up and leave it this point as it was quite evident that takeaway orders were taking priority over sitting customers. When the food started to come out, only half of it came out initially as the waitress was again on the phone or in the kitchen organizing takeout orders. My main was sat in a dish for nearly 10 minutes before my rice came out. It has to be said that the staff were pleasant and the food okay albeit half cold when I got to tuck in. It's a shame, but we all agreed after the meal that we would never return as the food was nice and a good price. I have never been treated with this kind of customer service in all my days and will be trying other restaurants in the area in future.

The food here’s always spectacular. Can’t recommend it enough! Staff are always friendly and helpful too. Personal recommendations are the Tandoori Murghi Masala and the Chicken Chat Puri.

We have had meals in this restaurant before.... but after watching the superb Liverpool comeback opted for a takeaway ....so a chicken tikka Parthia and a saag paneer and vegetable Balti was ordered with a garlic fried rice.After the short cooking time (20minutes) we collected the meal and took it home ..... excellent complimentary poppadoms, onion salad, and a mint yoghurt dip.....plus superb freshly cooked food.The vegetarian Balti was excellent and my partner agreed possibly one of the best she had eaten in Wolverhampton.... my pathia was spicy but not “hot” with chilli ...just right, but the little things matter and gotta say the rice was a masterclass (Fred fresh onions, fresh garlic not over cooked, and a sprinkle of fresh coriander).Well the curry was as good as Liverpool’s result.... amazing and for £14 I thought good value too.Well pleased with my first take away.

This place is just mind blowing! For the last 6-7 years had a regular curry house, tried others and they just never quite had what was going to match our usual place. My sister took us to Shimla a few months back and haven't bothered with anywhere else since! The food is phenomenal! Not only that but for said phenomenal food it is ridiculously cheap! Always a good £7-10 cheaper than our last regular! Lastly Shem and the team are extremely pleasent and helpful! A proper leader in Wolverhampton curries in my opinion!

Went out for a family members birthday and had a great night! Took our 16 month old baby family member and he was very well catered for. Very child friendly. No frills takeaway. Very reasonably priced, tikka tasted good but probably not the best we have tasted. Nice and warm when delivered. Sweet butter Lamb is Excellent and highly recommend- nice sized portions and fast delivery.

I've tried a few places in wolverhamptom recently but wish i never bothered, theres no better than Shimlas! Always delivers what i ask, sweet butter lamb and chom chom chicken to perfection! Good size potions for very reasonable prices....Yummmmmm!

Had a heart attack on Thursday and the first thing I wanted when I got out on Saturday was my usual shimla.Been told to cut down on take away food wich is difficult because I only have a shimla once a week.Called up shem and told him my situation.He took time out to advise me on healthier options with less fat and salt.He's cooked me my usual and cut out the ghee and my other fatty stuff.What I got still had all the flavour of the original but also peice of mind in that it was a healthier option.Many thanks to shimla.

Right from the friendly greeting, it was a lovely experience eating here. You could see right into the 5 hygeine rated kitchen - very clean and tidy. Well priced menu, and good choice of food. Ordered two starters, both samosas which were delicious. Most places only serve one, here you get two big fat samosas! Hubby had a chicken balti and I had two side dishes, onion bhaji amd bombay aloo. Hubby said his balti was just like the old days! My bhajis were light and full of flavour, the aloo was delicious. We had boiled rice and one roti and one chapati - lots of fluffy rice, and the breads were perfect. With the friendly staff and nice clean environment, it was a great evening with great food. It cost us £16 for all that, and I still needed to bring some home! Fantastic value, worth the hour's drive for good curry, will bring friends next time!

Small venue so booking is essential, the interior did feel a little cramped. Food prices are decent with generous portion sizes, unfortunately we did feel the food was pretty average.

This small Balti restaurant and takeaway has just become our new favourite for a good curry! Excellent flavours and well cooked meat. We had a bit of a problem parking but managed to find a space in the side road. We are definitely looking forward to our next meal.

Great food, brilliant value and excellent service. No wonder the owner is on first name terms with all his customers, I would definatley go back. Dropped in an route to Cumbria and was made exceptionally welcome. Strongly recommend this place, my 7 year old daughter loved it and appreciated the lollipop! She was nade most welcome too. Second visit to this Balti House , Really good quality food and service with a smile , dry tandoori dishes are probably the best ive had. This eatery does not hold back on the spices which i like a lot , better than almost every other restaurant in the area and certainly the best value for money. Dont get put off by the humble area or restaurant frontage, this place is a gem.Only one small negative worth mentioning, tables for two are sized rather small, i can understand this as the restaurant floor area is not big.

Small, loud and basic, and the food is wow. If you crave the Stoney Lane taste of Adils in Birmingham from the 1980s and 90s then you will find it here. Lovely staff and take your own booze. Came here with friends after they saw good reviews. Very impressed from minute we walked in. Restaurant was quite busy but were quickly given a table and menus given to us. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was delicious. Cannot recommend more highly. Tastes just like u were eating in the balti area of Birmingham as it was in the 1980’s. To make you aware this review relates to a takeaway order, not a visit to the restaurant. Second time ordering from them last night (29/09/2018). Safe to say we will not be ordering from here a third time! We placed an order over the phone on Saturday at 20:04, and the lady on the phone did advise us that they were particularly busy so the delivery would be over an hour. I said to her that was okay, thinking that this meant an hour and ten minutes or and hour and fifteen minutes at most; alas this was not the case! We waited and the hour passed. We kept on waiting and an hour and a half passed. I made a further telephone call to the restaurant at 21:47 and advised the gentleman that answered that we knew they were busy but how much longer would the order be? We were told that the order was just being cooked and would be with us in next ten or fifteen minutes. We live less than half a mile from the restaurant so this should have been more than realistic. Another twenty minutes passed and still no sign of our food! At this point I was forced to make yet another telephone call to the restaurant to enquire where on Earth our food was. This time I was advised that the delivery person had just left! I explained that that my wife and I were absolutely ravenous having waited over two hours for our food and that their standard of customer service was clearly unacceptable! I was assertive but not aggressive and said that that I did not think it was fair that we should be made to pay full price for our food given the waiting time that we had endured. The lady said she would speak to her Manager which she duly did. Our £21.70 order was reduced to £10.00. I was so hungry that I accepted and continued to ask her to confirm that our food was definitely on its way as I didn’t want to have to make a fourth phone call. She assured me that it would be with us very shortly now. We received a final telephone call from the delivery driver at 22:19 when he couldn’t find our house!! Then we finally got our food over two and quarter hours after placing our initial order. The gentleman delivering was very apologetic which I appreciated but unfortunately the damage had been done. To top it off the food was not what you would call piping hot (curry was luke warm at best). Also the lamb in the Shahi Tokra was clearly over cooked and somewhat tough. I ate mine but my wife had quite clearly gone past the hunger stage having waited such a long time to be fed. Therefore her portion remained largely untouched. A very disappointing customer experience.

Four of us went to this small Resturant 5 September 2018. Wednesday nights they do an offer of 3 course for £8.95The poppodums were over fried and dark brown.The Fish starter was hard and looked re-fried from previous night.The main courses again were old food recooked. The chicken dishes were rock hard.We only could eat 50% on the plates. The rice had old vegetables in also.However, the nan bread was very good.

We visit regularly, food is always amazing. You never have to wait too long even when it’s busy. You are always the owners top priority- whether it’s your 1st visit or your 100th visit! We recently got married & asked Shimla’s Balti to cater for us. Our guests are still talking about the food 3 months later! They are even willing to travel a 16 mile round trip to eat there!! You won’t be disappointed. I can’t recommend the best dish because they are all amazing! Love the place, cannot recommend enough.

Busy Wednesday night but still received great service from ZaK who went out of his way to maintain great service. Food was hot and excellent, especially the Sicilian Jalfrezi.
