The food finally arrived after 2 hours from ordering. I had to ring twice to see where it was. The first time I rang they definitely had forgotten about my order. When the food came it was warm but the curry was very watery. Definitely won’t be ordering again

Esta es la segunda vez en el último mes y esta noche fueron 2 horas 35 minutos. Traté de llamar constantemente durante la última hora sin respuesta. Lo desechó cuando finalmente apareció como lo habíamos ordenado en otro lugar para asegurarnos de que teníamos algo de cena. Es una pena ya que hemos sido un cliente habitual de Shimla, pero por desgracia no volveremos a pedir. Si no tiene la capacidad de procesar / entregar los pedidos, deje de tomarlos. ¡Gracias por darnos hambre en la noche de San Valentín!

first time ordering from Shimla could not fault the food at all and plenty of it

The chips were dry and overcooked. All the curry’s were full of oil. The Garlic Naan was burnt with a dollop of garlic in the middle. Not impressed won’t order again or recommend.

LOVELY SOUP RUBBISH CURRY. The curry's were so watery it was almost a soup. The pickles were also watered down. Very disappointing considering how much it all came to.

Fue nuestra primera visita y no será la última. Solo un pequeño restaurante, pero permite al equipo de cocina hacer lo que hacen bien. Tenía hydrabaldi que era muy sabroso y el ajo naan era realmente increíble - bien sazonado y muy delgado (no robusto)

So dissatisfied spent near on £50 the starters were poor and the vindaloo was a real let down. No taste, spice, flavour or heat.

They never deliver the order I even asked for an update on my order and got nothing back just hope I can get my money back will never order again.they could have rang to say they can’t deliver or cancel my order not just take the money

First time ordering here and found the food to be very expensive and below what I would expect. The garlic rice was over powering and the curry had a strange taste that left a strange after taste. Naan bread was bland also. Cost 27 pound for a rice, curry and a bread. Wouldn’t have normally paid that much but always been curious about here so thought I’d give it a go. Not for me though unfortunately

Este es, con diferencia, el mejor restaurante indio de esta zona. El personal es amable y profesional. La comida es fantástica. Solía ir al Elachi por la carretera, pero Shimla es mejor de lejos.

The chicken Tikka Masala was awful and not worth £11 . Keema nan barely any meat in no flavour.?Biryani curry sauce was tasteless would not order again very disappointed

Chicken tikka masala had very little flavour and was very watery, almost like it had been defrosted! Very poor!

Absolutely dreadful customer service…. 4 of us on a table that we could just about sit at while the entire restaurant was empty …. Could not order pickle tray without first ordering main meals 🤷‍♀️…to say the meals were bland is a compliment… garlic chilli chicken that could have been served to a 5 year old and chicken pathia that I can make better myself… but tasted like a sweet version of the chillie garlic 🤦🏻‍♀️, chicken methi murgh tasteless also!!! Greasy microwaved pilau rice … the only upside was the freshly cooked naan….. We were given the bill before we asked for it at approximately 8.30 … the venue doesn’t close until 10pm!!!! Then asked if we’d finished with our wine glasses while there was still wine in them…we should not have stayed and will certainly not be back!!

Had our first delivery from Shimla Armthorpe last night and couldn't fault it - it arrived on time,was delicious and plenty of it !! I will definitely be using them again and strongly recommend 😃

LOVE this little gem of a restaurant. Beautiful food , fantastic, friendly staff. They go above and beyond to ensure you’re happy with everything. THE best onion bhajis in Doncaster. Highly recommend.

When food came, 2 little pots of pickles were spilled over the rest of the food (lids had come off) . The main was so bland and tasteless it was untrue. It was meant to be medium heat, but there were no spices at all.

Went for my son’s 18th Birthday last night, table of 14. Great service, friendly staff and lovely food. Highly recommend it.

Called on spec after 9pm last Saturday, we didn't realise they were closing soon, and we were told the kitchen was closing very shortly. I sort of cheekily said we really on want a meal each (we were travelling back to Manchester so couldn't be long anyway) and they kindly allowed us to stay as long as we were ready to order straight away. We both ordered the same meal to make it easier for the kitchen (we did ask for popadums so it wasn't really a starter 😊) The waiters were all very polite and we didn't feel rushed in any way. The food was excellent, very tasty, and if it were nearer to home I'd definitely return / use for takeaway. Upon leaving staff were very courteous and we didn't feel we were being pushed out of the door - they were all very busy tidying and cleaning thoroughly the tables which was refreshing, no wonder they have a 5* hygiene rating. Thanks again for being very accomodating, if in the area ever again we'll sure look you up, this time earlier 😊

Ordered a chicken tikka masal main and it was only chicken tikka pieces no sauce.... rice was cold very disappointed

30 mins late to start with and wrong sauces so had to sit and wait another 30 mins for rest of meal to come entire thing was cold by time the rest had come .

We ordered a takeaway for 4 people, the order was incorrectly filled as chicken Chili turned out to be Chicken Curry the chicken Madras was nice but the Sauce was very runny, the onion bhajis where not crisp and did not seem freshly prepared, the Lamb Jalfrezi was tough with gristle and was warm, it was also mildly spiced rather than medium to hot, all in all £57 for a meal for 4 went from a good deal to a wasted expenditure as not one of the dishes was fully consumed or enjoyed, as I had picked this up and was in the house (and it was lashing outside and cold). I cannot recommend the take away service from this restaurant

Took long enough considering it was a Tuesday then it was still 15 mins late! And in all honesty it wasn’t worth waiting for!

We ordered a simple, yet expensive order on a Friday night. That consisted of two mains, chips, rice and naan breads. The order arrived with: Chips, naan, and 3? Lots of rice, missing our mains entirely. Although when I rang they resent the mains out, they arrived beyond cold. In the photo on the item on just eat these mains we’re served in sauce. Birthday Celebrations for a 21st Birthday. 13 of us and excellent service. Everyone’s meals were hot, fresh and delicious. Through experience, whether it’s a table of four or a large group, The Shimla always seem to be able to deliver high a standard of service and food. Thanks Guys for a great night. 👍

Madras tasted fairly bland & didn’t pack any heat which was disappointing, usually very nice in the restaurant but tasted completely different on delivery. Starters etc all ok just let down with the main.

Bland,.cold food. Rang restaurant twice to find out where the order was, received it 1 hour and a half after ordering.

Delicious Indian although garlic chilli chicken wasn’t as hot as I was expecting, would have loved a few more chillies in it. However the food in general was lovely.

Really enjoyed the food….as usual, faultless! Wasn’t bothered that it came early…we were hungry! I have to say though, I’d had more than one glass of wine and although I’d paid for it by card through the app, I was daft enough to pay again in cash. Doh. Within minutes, the delivery driver came back with my £40. What a lovely honest thing to do. Thank you so much.

TAKEAWAY. Have had food from here many times and has always been good. However, last night was very poor. Stale poppadoms, 1 tiny dish of mango chutney between 2 of us, despite asking for 2. A very wet chicken balti and a very wet chicken jalfrezi, which tasted and looked the same apart from the sprinkling of parsley on the jalfrezi. No vegetables in sight and tasteless, unappetising looking pilau rice.

Food was just ok. Order was wrong when it arrived with items missing hit credit to them they sorted it and re delivered missing items quickly which we were grateful for

Food wasn’t as expected didn’t tell me it wouldent come with a sauce so just had tikka chicken with chips and rice not satisfied and won’t be ordering from there again

So much oil in the food. Was all over the bag when delivered everything was covered in it. Food wasn’t that warm either and very very bland. I’ve eaten in the restaurant and it was nice but this was way below the usual standard. £50 not well spent

Excellent food and service. My wife and I both thoroughly enjoyed the meal we had there recently. My wife is a lover of onion Bhajis and started with two of them, followed by a prawn tikka masala. I had a king prawn tikka to start and prawn tikka masala for my main too. Absolutely delicious. Highly recommended.

Super quick, and great quality takeaway, half an hour quicker than advised and all tasted fresh and delicious.

To say this is a restaurant - it’s clear the takeaway offers is not restaurant standard if I had been in the restaurant and served what was delivered would have been sent back & left the place chicken curry watery and tasteless chicken Tikka masala tasted like pure sugar to disguise the watery sauce chips under cooked & greasy I finished them off in air fryer! Poppedoms dry all broken and tasted stale.. pointless switching on air fryer and ordering as food was awful went in bin lesson learnt !

Once again a return visit to The Shimla Restaurant. Sheb as always there to welcome myself and my wife. He knows his guests by name. Wonderful. And so to enjoy several courses of deep flavours, spiced food to perfection. Thing is, each dish is not overpowered and killed by spices. The spices enhance everything. A wonderful evening as always. Thanks to Sheb and his team. Five stars as always.

Food was not worth £40. VERY Bland korma and that’s saying something considering it’s a korma. Missing naan bread and when I called up they didn’t even say sorry… said they would send a driver still waiting 25 minutes later. My Garlic Nihari dish was nice but Won’t be ordering again wish I hadn’t spent £40 :(

Avg food and late delivery - Not something you want when you are very hungry !

I have now tried several Indian restaurants in the area and I’m resigned to the fact that the chef has been nowhere near any part of India ! Lacking in flavour, quality and taste. The pilau rice was an unseasoned plain looking excuse for the main lacked flavour and seasoning. Chapati was reasonable.Shocking food will not be ordering again.

Twice ordered takeaway, and twice got my order completely wrong and I have been unable to eat it and been left eating a plate of chips!

We’ve been using the service for years and always been more than happy but something has changed here either chef or suppliers but definitely something. Ordered our food came in timely manner but didn’t have its normal flavours tge food quality was so different. The meat was also tough. Worst still ever since we’ve both been so bad with our stomach. We’re on point of getting tests done ! I’m reluctant to post such a review but this is the only thing we both ate. Won’t use again unfortunately. We used love Shimla

I ordered a Indian last night the meat was so tough I had to remove it from my dish and throw it all away,I spent over 28.00 I don’t think il be ordering a meat dish again

The order was just wrong the chicken chaat was missing the chicken, was just potatoes and the dupiaza tastes suspiciously like a korma.

Piping hot even being 5mile away, very tasty plenty of it too perfect for 2 or even tomorrow's tea..

Ordered from the takeaway a chicken tikka starter but where as before you got a dip & salad nothing anymore which is a shame as I would of ordered seperate if I’d known. Chicken balti very bland although the chicken was lovely. Overall I found this ok I wouldn’t order again as after reading all the excellent reviews was expecting something better for what you pay.

Food wasn’t the usual quality to what we normally receive

We have been using this restaurant for many months now was so disappointed on Sunday we had the banquet the chicken chat was very salty the sharing starter the lamb was inedible. Then to add insult to injury when we paid the bill drinks had been added that we hadn't had. We were asked if the food was ok we said about our issues but not one member of staff came back to let us know what the chef had said. It seems criticism is not taken kindly. We were not even offered any Mints as normal when paying the bill Admittingly this is perhaps our second incident the first was weeks ago when we said there was only 3 prawns in a starter and was told there was defiantly more. Pilau rice was solid, the korai was extremely hot compared to normal and we got a shaswari naan and not a garlic so couldn’t eat it. Very disappointed

Delivery was fast, the food was lovely and hot however we ordered 2 peshwari naans and got 2 cheese naans which we weren’t keen on.

They forgot to leave part of my order, but when I contacted them they sent it straight out, couldn't ask for more.

Soggy chips and really oily and watery chicken korma. Did not taste good, sorry to say most of it went in the bin :(
