Regular customer as been coming here for a long time. Ordered a £40 order to be collected and it was terrible, cold food and masala crips were dry with powder on them. Waste of money and will not be using again. When we called to ask what has happened to the food quality the male on the phone started laughing. Poor food. Avoid.

Am a regular customer have a curry delivered once if not twice a week and last night 26.05.2023 the base of the bag it was delivered in was swimming in sauce. Being a regular it now looks as if they don't care and just eep expecting we'll put up with shoddy service. Also meals tend to be bland no matter what I try, other half same curry never consistent. My business is going elsewhere

The starter of a shish kebab was ok but the onion a little tough for my liking, the main course I had a king prawn balti madras which arrived with what looked like a cactus or a leek in the food some 3-4 inches long with leaves that exrended to she side of the dish, I asked the waitier what this was he said an onion anyway it was not for me, the quantity was menial and the food bland, my Son had a honey chicken with 4 cubes of chicken that would not have filled a child, the rice !, mine was full of hard rice conveniently placed below the cooked rice again it was just bland. This meal was not for us I am afraid, come on Shimla up your game your used to be quite brilliant but now I feel the standards have dropped significantly, we will not be returning for the foreseeable future.

We’re from the US and came on holiday to visit friends and they swore this was the best Indian in the entire of Birmingham. They were not wrong! Everything was amazing, from the paneer starter to the tawa and tikka garlic chili chicken. The naan and garlic fried rice was perfect and great portion size. The service was amazing as they are extremely friendly and make sure that everything is tasting good. We didn’t expect it to be a highlight of the trip, but it ended up exceeding expectations and we will make time to dine in again next time we’re in town!

We’ve eaten on and off at this restaurant for a few years and it’s always been well managed and really clean . Tonight I had an absolutely beautiful meal , full of flavour and the naan bread was fluffy and fresh Sundays they do a meal deal so its definitely worth going and giving it a try

My 82 year old mother says she doesn’t like Indian food but she enthusiastically took me to this place. The food was fresh and original. Every dish distinctly different. In particular the naan bread was better than anything I have ever eaten before and I had an wonderful saag dhal. Staff were welcoming and remembered my Mum from before. It has a great atmosphere even when not busy. Deserves to be packed. Please try it. Don’t be put off by the location - above a fast food outlet.

I've been to the Shimla Aldridge many times for a takeaway, and for dining in with family an friends over the last 6 years or so. Really enjoy the curry's there, especially the Salmon Bahar! The staff are always friendly, an your made to feel welcome whether it's dining in or collecting a takeaway.

Absolutely vial! Food was stone cold when I phoned to get a refund they hung up on me several time wouldn't listen to me but would listen to brother they think they can belittle woman WILL NEVER USE AGAIN

We have used Shimla for a few years now and never had a bad experience. The welcome, service and food are always great! We could go to any of the local curry houses and always choose this one. The food is amazing! Well done to all the staff and I look forward to returning!

We used to enjoy meals from the Shimla when we lived in Aldridge many years ago including Christmas Eves with family staying with us. This was a trip down memory lane albeit in lockdown. The food was wonderful - so well spiced and seasoned with great quality ingredients - especially our favourite tandoori chicken tikka balti. The delivery was speedy and safe. Thank you Shimla we think you are wonderful!!

Last week I ordered Chicken Tandoori Biryani and some amazing curry/side dishes. I placed an order for it to get delivered to my house and LET ME TELL YOU the food was one of the BEST!! Definitely would order from them again and I definitely recommend people to go there ASAP!

We have visited shimla's twice in recent weeks and I must say it has quickly become my favourite Indian. The food has been superb and the manager and staff are welcoming and efficient. You can also take your own drinks although alcoholic drinks are available.

My husband and I visited here for the first time this evening with my parents and 4 year old son. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They even gave my son a guided tour of the kitchen which he loved. The food was absolutely fantastic. The restaurant is licensed but you can take your own drinks which makes it even better! We all had a wonderful time and can’t wait to return.

I have got to say I think I have tried nearly every restaurant in Aldridge for a curry and this has got to be the tastiest curry I’ve had. So much flavour and get a good portion size. Very good value for money and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. We will be back again very soon

great meals i found the vindaloo wa very hot and spicy but the place is good ive been in there well worth going

Came in on a Friday evening with my family. The place was very busy and they still managed to seat us with no wait time. Was asked if we wanted any drinks and any poppadoms and was also given our menus. After a while we was welcomed to our waiter who was a young lad who took our order and made us feel welcomed. We ordered starters and mains and even though it was busy we had our food without having to wait a long time. The food tasted amazing. Everyone who works there are friendly. We even went into the kitchen and greeted the chefs who were working hard. The front of house and the kitchen was very clean even though it was a busy Friday evening. I would highly recommend people to come to this restaurant for a very good evening and meal. 5/5

Went out as a family last night to dine here, the reason why we return again and again is that the quality remains the same as does the service, the only thing we did not is that the portions appeared to be rather small and the prices increased slightly, besides that it's worth the extra outlay to be assured of a great night out. Taking you own drink also helps on the cost with the co-op over the road too to purchase you wine/beer yo really can't beat this Restaurant.

For those who already know the Shimla, it as good as its ever been. The fish tanks are gone, but the guys are there (a little greyer and older it has to be said) but still good. The food is excellent. The baltis are as you always remembered (so gooooood), biryani special is something else. Its a good place. Put it in your diary. Go back. They have kept the place wonderfully well. They even remembered me and my wife from twenty years ago!!!!! How is that possible? but then again, that's good service for you.

This Restaurant provides consistent quality and service, the food is simply delicious, the waiting staff are helpful and attentive, bring your own drinks too which saves a fortune. I’ve eaten in a few India restaurants and worked in several in the 90s. The curries take me back to the ones I used to serve. Proper traditional dishes with lots of flavour (not tried their starters). Probably the best around Aldridge and Birmingham. Really impressed. Good service too.

7 of us visited this restaurant and we all enjoyed lovely food. Licensed but you can take your own alcohol with you. Lovely atmosphere and waiters were very pleasant. Will certainly return.

Another delicious meal from Shimla, with fantastic service. Dishes are tweaked to suit your taste so always ask if you want a different level of spice. This is a firm favourite with us and our friends.

Ordered for the family was advised 40 mins for delivery. Food was delivered well over an hour. We were also one meal short and when we called was told it would be another 1/2 hour. This was not acceptable as we only live a short distance from the restaurant. They then told us 10 mins. We have now been waiting another 45 mins and it has just arrived!!!! Awful service.

Have to say, there are many other Indian restaurants in Aldridge Village. Although this is our local one, that is not the sole reason that we use the Shimla. Many other restaurants can't keep the consistency of food that the Shimla does. Most likely due to change of chefs. The Shimla has the same chef I knew of, for over 20 years ago. I know exactly what style of cooking to expect whenever we visit. It will taste as good as the last one.

We enjoyed our dinner at this restaurant, which is obviously popular with the locals for takeaway and eating in. Our food was fine, some of the curries were perhaps a little oily for our taste, but nicely flavoures; the naan breads were excellent. Portion size was a little small - one rice was really not enough for two.

I went to shimla last week with family as it is local to where I live. We were very impressed with our meals, which tasted fantastic and were served up nice and warm. It is very good value, staff are pleasant and attentive. I will definetely be going back again soon.

We have been here a few times and the food has always been lovely and the staff pleasant and polite. When it is fully booked it can get a little claustrophobic in there due to it being quite small, but other than that it's a lovely place to go and celebrate only occasion.

Surprisingly small restaurant, very friendly staff - you will have your photo taken for the Facebook page! Food was nice but not outstanding. They do a special offer on a Monday-Thursday which is a good deal and only charged us this even though we ordered outside of the deal.

Tend to have takeaways usually and not from Shimla due to the distance we have to travel, for a change decided to eat there after quite a period, the food is remarkable as is the service, lovely evening, last time we visited some 6 months ago it was just as excellent, remains consistent in quality and service.

After being a customer for many years have to say the quality of food has deteriorated to such an extent shall no longer have our custom The chicken tika was like rubber, soggy chips, poor quality bag of salad. Nann bread was horrible unchewable no dressing of oil added extremely dry and floury and mint sauce had a tang to it!

We, the family, live it here. Never had a bad experience. Always welcoming and cheery. Complimentary drink after your meal. There is a novel twin dish mini menu. This is one divided dish serving a smaller portion of 2 curries.

The food is always great, service brilliant and if you take the time to speak to the staff, they are always helpful and friendly. My favourite restaurant and would recommend to anyone.

We normally go to our regular Indian as we know what we order will be to our liking, however we had been recommended shimla by our friends so decided to give it a try and it's on our doorstep,my husband doesn't normally like to try new things but on this occasion had something completely different. As soon as we entered the restaurant we were given a table and bought some glasses for our drinks. We were given plenty of time to mull over the menu. Our meal was served at our liking, well presented and hot. My husband said that his curry was the best he had ever had he loved it, the staff were really attentive and welcoming and we will definitely be visiting again soon, in fact we are planning a nite out with a load of friends and that's where we will be going.

My partner and I choose a takeaway once a month as a treat to ourselves, being fed up of pizza we thought we would try our local indian, Shimla. We live off the Walsall Wood Road so we thought ordering for collection would be the best idea. We arrived 25 minutes after we ordered and were very pleased with the service, when we arrived we were offered a free shot of Baileys whilst we waited which was a nice gesture... at this point I was excited and looking forward to the food we had ordered it can only get better right?! how wrong could we be! We had ordered starters sheekh kebab to share, then FULL tandoori chicken, pilau rice and a cheese naan to share but when we got home we realised that this restaurant have NO IDEA what a FULL tandoori chicken is, we had 2 legs... that is it!! Then the cheese naan was extremely undercooked not to mention the lamb thing we had ordered was a tough as leather that went in the bin. They did however give us "extra salad" which we thought was very kind of them, but realised they were just trying to make up for our lack of chicken. ... we wanted a full chicken not a full iceberg lettuce. So disappointing I was expecting big things from Shimla as they post menus in our door EVERY WEEK! well they go straight in the recycling bin now. We rarely have Indian food and was really looking forward to it but it ruined the experience completely for us... I think we will stick with Pizza or the Chinese takeaway next door in future.

We dine at this friendly restaraunt every couple of weeks. The staff are lovely and always greet us with a warm welcome....Shiraz ALWAYS has time for a chat, show you how to fold napkins and dance....Dance? On my birthday my now fiance arranged for a surprise family meal for me. The food at the Shimla is always plentiful, tasty and excellent value (Christmas day included) and being able to take your own alcohol is a huge bonus!! Anyway I couldn't understand why my other half wasn't eating...we looove the food...I recognised a song playing in the background 'our song' and with that my partner got down on one knee and proposed! Yes was my reply and after an applause Shiraz (friendliest waiter ever) showed his happiness by showing off his dance skills!!! Amazing,enjoyable evening never to be forgotten!We continue to dine here as often as possible and the scrumptious food, warm welcome and offer of 'our table' is always available......fantastic place. Cannot be beaten and can't rate it high enough!!

We have been using this restaurant for our takeaways since it opened. Always friendly service, wonderful food and excellent value for money. I have seen this restaurant grow over the years and we feel proud to support them and really appreciate the hard work they put into their business.

Decided to try Christmas dinner here as we have been to have a curry many times. We were a party of 9 (3 children and 6 adults). We had a lovely time, thank you to the staff who always make it at this restaurant. 3 had turkey and 6 had Indian. We had a very enjoyable time.

Ordered take away meal at 6.08. An hour was given as delivery time. At 7.10 we phoned as no meals received....they said it was on its way. We are less than a mile away. By 7.30 nothing received so we cancelled meal.

Arrived at the shimla Walsall wood road Aldridge early Sunday evening. Fancied a change from our usual Indian restaurants and despite a bit of a drive it proved well worthwhile. I first ate at the shimla when it was newly opened in the late '80"s and I'm pleased to say the high standards set then are maintained today. Proprietor Abdul is the original owner today and gave us a walk welcolme and then served my wife and I a great meal with quality traditional Bengali food, genourous portions with food to take home. Maybe one of the bad reviews is getting this place mixed up with a place in Walsall with a similar name? Forgot to say thanks to jay who looked after us all evening.

My mom and me visited shimla in july, we didn't rate this indian restaurant for food or service, all food seamed microwaved, service was (sneeky) the menu special was only currys anything else £2 extra . They brought us the bill suppose to be coffee or desert last course to end with. We didn't ask. We were glad to leave.Massala indian wendsbury. Or randuni Shelfield walsall indian restraunts are far better.

Having had a really pleasant family restaurant meal here last year, we returned and decided to have a takeaway meal for three this week. The staff were very polite when taking our order and gave us all a free drink while we waited for our food. The food was excellent and even included a special order not on their normal menu. Had eaten here for over 20 years and it was always of the highest standard. Then a couple of years ago the quality of ingredients began to slip, to the point where we hadn't been here for over 18 months. Last night decided to give it another go to see if it had improved. Sadly it had not. Food was tasteless at best. Such a shame as we used to love eating here. Back to our new regular next week.

Visited Shimla for first time in just over 2 years. Enjoyed a relaxed enjoyable meal. Food was good as was the service. The restaurant was fairly busy for a Wednesday night and obvious some very regular customers. Will not leave it so long till we visit again.

Me and my dad have ordered many takeaways and had meals out here ect and I have to say that this is my favourite restaurant in walsall. The staff are very friendly and the restaurant itself is very clean and has a lovely atmosphere. The food is wonderful and tasty and this restaurant has never let us down once. I always look forward to having a takeaway or meal from here and I will never order from anywhere other than here. As a precaution beware that the restaurant can become very busy.

We have been to this Indian restaurant many times in a large party and as a couple. We always meet the family here as we live local. The food is excellent and the service is spot on. They will always go out of their way to help you and make it an overall enjoyable experience. We cannot fault the food and on a Sunday do a set menu for £10 which is brilliant and the quality cannot be faulted. Great thing is it is a Bring your own drink. We will be back as this is the best Indian we have been to and would always recommend. Thank you.

Having tried all of the Indian restaurants in the Aldridge area, Shimla is by far the best. The food is fantastic and the service is just as good. Whenever we are unable to decide what to do for an evening meal we always choose Shimla and are never disappointed. The complimentary shots always top off a great evening.

i was recommended the shimla by a friend. as we were on a night out nearby we decided to collect a takeaway meal i ordered three different curry meals. 1 madras. 1 balti. 1 special baltiall 3 meals looked the same. and tasted the same. ie like hot wallpaper paste disgusting . all went in the bin i have been a curry lover since 1978 and have eaten indian food all around the countryanyone who says this is good is either drunk or got no taste. absolute rubbish don't go there£26 wasted

We visited this restaurant in November for a birthday celebration. The food was well cooked and flavoursome and we were especially pleased that it catered for our daughter who is a vegetarian. The staff were very polite and attentive. We will definitely be visiting again. In fact, we have booked for Christmas Day.

Went to the restaurant for the first time in years, the decor has changed, bright, open and warm. I went with a fee friends in a weekend, and it was a very good atmosphere, lots of chatter and good banter with some of the staff. When asking questions about the food, our waiter knew a lot about the dishes. We then had poppadoms with different relishes and pickles. Even on a very busy night the starters were impressively out quick and tasted fantastic . The sheekh kebab I had was succulent and so flavorful with mint sauce. Thankfully there was a little break before the main, as it gave us time to chat. The main was just... absolutely worth the wait. I had the meethi meat, with naan and sag side dish. I think I have a new favourite. Needless to say that I am definitely coming back for more. Its cheap enough to have on a regular basis!

We regularly go to this restaurant and the food is fantastic whatever we choose from the menu. Recommend the sag rice - it's delicious. Service is wonderful and all the waiters are friendly and helpful.

Terrible food and poor service. Ordered a Chicken Tikka Masala...only to find remnants of chewy, fatty lamb or beef mince floating around. My husband ordered a Tandoori Saag Balti which was also positively dreadful. When we raised this the staff, we were addressed by a rude, bolshy waiter that simply presented us with the menu and stated it was a traditional recipe. UTTERLY DISGUSTING and will NEVER BE BACK AGAIN!

My parents have been visiting this Indian restaurant for nearly 20 years now, and it's a firm family favourite. So much so that relatives living an hour north of us frequently request that we pick them up a takeaway from here the night before we visit so that they can reheat it at home. I've never had Indian elsewhere that even comes close to the intensity of flavour and friendliness of the staff here. The Sunday-Thursday night deal of poppadoms and chutneys, a starter, main and rice, naan or chips, all for £9.99 per person is unbeatable. Not to mention the Bailey's and After Eight mint provided free of charge with the bill. A real gem.

We have been to the restaurant for meals and had take aways from here a number of times. Food is always of good quality and big portions. The staff are really welcoming and quick to take orders. Last time I visited I asked for something that I couldn't see on the menu and the waiter said it would be no problem - he curry they cooked was the best I had in ages! Definitely recommended!

Visited the Shimla on a Friday evening with 16 work colleagues. The staff we friendly, well organised. Meals arrived promptly and were delicious. Cost was reasonable, we took our own drinks. I would recommend Shimla excellent service.

Have been to Shimla many times and they've never failed to impress me. The customer service is great, the food is very high quality and the take-aways are always outstanding. It's cheap and cheerful but most of all, it sustains a high reputation.

Was taken out by some very good friends here and being a fussy eater I was a little worried. I needn't of been because the food was outstanding, full if flavour, the service second to non. It was so lovely that I had to eat my entire main even though I was full to the brim ! My friends took what was left of there's home and the staff were very attentive and put things in containers as instructed. Will definitely be returning and highly recommend this small but personal restaurant. fantastic.

We visited here on a Thursday evening and they have an offer on that is exceptional value. Greeted with a warm welcome and seated near a window. After poppadom and pickle tray, I had persian kebab and my wife had chicken chat puree for starters. My main was a Shimila Special Tawa (lamb chicken and king prawn) and my wife had a King Prawn Sagwala Tawa and a freshly baked Naan bread and mushroom rice to share. We brought a bottle of wine to compliment the food that we bought from the Co-op next door. We were then brought an after eight mint and a complimentary bailey's and whisky. Wait for the price -- drum roll -- £19.99. Yes thats right very good value very good service and a great price! We will be back!

This restaurant is excellent value for money, with very friendly staff, who always go the extra mile. We have been visiting this establishment for over a year and they never fail to provide extremely tasty food. We have introduced many others to this restaurant who also enjoy the cuisine.

Visited for the first time recently with family. Found the Dining area spotless and well appointed. The Staff were friendly and helpful. The Restaurant is Licensed but you can take your own if you wish. The Menu is comprehensive and also English options as well as Indian and Balti dishes. The costs of a meal is very reasonable and we all had a very enjoyable evening with good food and drink. Will look to return although we live some 15 miles form the venue.

Just seen the only two reviews for this restaurant so far and can't believe what I've read. Have eaten here for over 20 years. Staff are always friendly, service is good, food is always excellent.The decor isn't 5 star, but is modern and above all spotlessly clean. Have taken many friends and relatives to eat here and every single one has been delighted. When coming to stay with us one of the first questions is "are we eating at Shimla"!!The fact that you can take your own alcohol and reasonably priced food means you can have a goog night out for under £20 per head.Have tried every other Indian restaurant in a 10 mile radius of Aldridge and nothing compares to Shimla.

Arrived at 8 on a friday night the place was pretty busy had high hopes for the evening which to be honest went downhill when the starter arrived very poor but when the main arrived it was almost laughable id ordered a combination two small portions of different currys but turned out to be same tasteless sauce just with different meat which if im honest i couldnt name for sure ..... Highlight of the night popadoms low point the rest of the food ....
