Booked mid week for Sunday lunch at 1.00pm.hitel restaurant rang an hour before booking to say 'not doing Sunday lunch today, due to kitchen issues'!very disappointing. Also noticed menu has been reduced significantly since we last went, although price has increased. In desperation,we managed to book at very short notice for lunch at another hotel, which was superb. The Ansty Hall charges £10 per person for any cancellation.Perhaps they would like to pay us £10 compensation per person for cancelling.Really not worth dealing with them!

Expectations for a Christmas day lunch at a cost of £110 per head, included a well set table, warm welcome, competent service and quality food. The experience can at best be described as a pub lunch supported by a young inattentive, unenthusiastic, disorganised, unsupervised work force who (apart from one young lady who made an effort and smiled) would clearly have preferred to be anywhere other than serving lunch on Christmas day. Food was presented canteen style. The table decor included potentially quality Christmas hats that were poorly assembled with bits missing, so couldn't be worn and luxury Christmas crackers The starters were basic and lacked any presentation, main course bland, partly warmed in microwave and dumped in front of you, sorbet was solid ice with no utensils to attack it - when I asked for a spoon the 'waiter' touched my desert spoon set for desert with his finger and walked off, the desert was an inedible dried up slice of Christmas pudding with cold instant school custard. This took 2 hours and 40 minutes of our day with long breaks in service. One guest (there were only 3 of us) was missed from desert service altogether - when chased the waiter said sorry I forgot. . We declined tea/coffee and mince pies as enough of our day had been wasted. All together a very disappointing experience which was worth less than half of the price charged - we all felt disappointed and ripped off!

We went for a work Christmas lunch yesterday and had the festive menu at Shilton Restaurant. The food was very tasty and Betty and Marianna were ever so helpful and accommodating with any requests we had. Would definitely recommend for midweek business lunches.

We met up with the family at the Macdonald Ansty Hall hotel on Sunday and what a pleasant experience it was. Betty and Marianna couldn’t have been more lovely and incredibly helpful. Nothing was too much even though we were an hour late for lunch due to an incident on the M6. Hey ho these things happen but Betty was wonderful and Marianna always attentive without being to much and happy help. The management should be proud of these two ladies as they are an asset to the Business. The food was nice, the wine better but our overall size experience was second to none and we will be booking again.

A party of three of us visited on Sunday 6th February for lunch. What a hidden gem. Mr Fulford and his staff made us most welcome. The food was delicious so compliments to the chef. Two of us had beef and one had pork. We had starters and dessert too. All dishes were presented to the highest standard. We will certainly be visiting again soon. Thank you.

This is a lovely property, but our food was hit and miss. Service was extremely slow and one of our desserts was still frozen. I will not return.

This was one of the best three course dinners we have had in a long time, everything was cooked to perfection and the service was perfect. Rib eye steak was very good and cooked to my liking. starters prawn cocktail had so many prawns it it was the biggest and so fresh, deserts were also top quality.

The food in the restaurant was amazing paired with great service, the Sunday lunch we had was also great. The Yorkshire pudding were huge and the whole experience did not let us down at all during our stay.

We loved it. The food was very nice, even if the menu à la carte was limited, there was a good veggie-friendly selection. The staff was lovely and the grounds of the hotel are beautiful.

Had a two course meal in the lounge , two adults and two children. A children’s menu was provided and we were served with a smile and warm welcome, despite how busy the hotel and restaurant were. Meal was served quickly and was high quality, enjoyed by all- especially the children. An excellent experience, made better by the approachable staff and their professional yet friendly service. We would definitely return again.

Ok but nothing special and had one chip which was raw! Yes, I should have complained but I was tired and just couldn’t be bothered. Then 5.85/ pint is expensive even for a hotel. However the breakfast was very good and mad3 up for the disappointment of my evening meal.

Food was ok, and service worked but just very boring menu and execution. For an expensive business hotel expect to be excited or at least intrigued

Went to this restaurant as a family of 6 to have the Sunday 3 courses set menu. We chose this restaurant as the sample menu on bookatable website looked good. When we arrived the menu had much less variety and quite bog standard options such as crumble for dessert and breaded mushrooms for starters. I ordered a pizza from the kids menu but was told they had run out so ordered macaroni cheese for my child. This came out with the mains. Most restaurants now ask whether the child's meal should be brought out with the starters, as it's difficult to keep a child entertained whilst they are sitting there watching everyone else eat. The food was ok, nothing special and not worth the price in my opinion. The waitress who seated us was pleasant. The rest of the staff need improvement. We didn't receive our drinks until after I chased it up when they still hadn't arrived by the time our starters arrived. The waiter who brought them unfortunately suffered from a serious body odour issue (embarrassing but it should be brought to his attention by his manager as its not pleasant). The other, younger waitress didn't seem to know what she was doing. She spilt crumbs down one of us whilst clearing the plates away. She forgot to bring a glass with ice and a slice of lemon. She also brought just one glass for the water jug, the rest of our group had to use wine glasses to drink the water from (it was a good thing they didn't clear the wine glasses once they realised we weren't ordering any wine). The service and the food didn't match the grand, elegant setting.

Family birthday celebration . Lovely big table for 5, not squeezed onto a table for 4 Choice of 4 for your starters / main / puds. Nice interaction with the staff and nothing too much trouble for different things. Ambiance is nice and place was busy considering mid January. Nice to have a yorkshire with our roast lamb, waitress knew my hungry lads would wolf them down without really prompting! Crumble was really good for pudding and cheese platter didn’t look shabby either We would return for sure. Thanks for a nice family event!

Ate here when staying with a group of colleagues. Just as well we were staying and get on well - the service was so slow that we waited an hour for the main course. Now we know why it is called "slow cooked" beef. It was tasty, but really... shouldn't have taken that long.

The menu is not massive but concentrates on quality and the wine list again is not overwhelming. The joy is that the Maitre D' is extremely knowledgable and helpful and he will expalin and recommend if you ask him

Bien hecho a chef y personal.

Been going to the Manor House cafe for a long time but was very disappointed with today’s visit (06/11/2024). Whilst the food is still good they have brought in a new policy with the tea they serve. Instead of getting a pot of tea you now get a tea bag and a pot of hot water. Fair enough you might think. However when I asked why they were doing this, the answer was ‘people ask for more hot water and are therefore getting an extra cup of tea for free’. How petty and how bad for business. £1.95 is not cheap for one tea bag and a little milk. The staff should not refuse extra hot water (after all, they can’t refuse a glass of tap water) or begrudge an extra ‘free’ cup of tea to customers who are also spending a decent amount on food. I was not alone in my thoughts, several other people were making the same comments. Also, new cafes and coffee shops are opening all the time in Solihull so there is a lot more choice. The Manor House should not be alienating customers like this or they might find they will go elsewhere.
