Michelle was very attentive and helpful.

Had a lovely meal with my kids, who somehow demolished rather large portions! Excellent service from the delightful Sam.

Nice atmosphere in the main lounge to relax and have a delicious cup of coffee at a very reasonable price, served by pleasant, friendly staff. Our group meet here on a monthly basis to catch up and always find it a pleasant experience.

Great place for overnight stay.

Had lunch here. The fish and chips were very good, as were the desserts - chocolate fondant and caramel sundae. Service was good and Ella and San were great. Would recommend for a leisurely lunch.

Decided to try the Greswold Arms for a meal today. NEVER AGAIN! The place was very quiet so can't blame the poor service and quality of the food on pressures of the day. The sea bass was very poor in quality and portion size for £17.99. My friends meal was also sub standard. The whole experience was very very disappointing to say the least and the customer service was very poor. Definitely won't be back and would not recommend to any of my friends and family.

Came for lunch with family was good nice location, big car park and food was nice. We had a baby with us and there was high chairs available with outdoor seating. Which on a nice day is 👌🏼

I have previously stayed here on several occasions and it is always my go to when visiting the area, the hotel is Great value , with very clean, comfortable, spacious and tastefully decorated rooms, the staff are always friendly and accommodating, specifically the young lady, Samantha who looked after me for an evening meal, and breakfast, where she handled indecisiveness and dietary requirements with ease. I Would highly recommend the accommodation and also the connivence of having its own restaurant and on site parking. This is my preferred place stay here when traveling down for work.

We had lunch on Friday. I had the start of a coughing fit. And Michelle came straight over and asked if I wanted some water. I could barely speak but said yes. In seconds she brought over a pint glass of water and saved the day. Thank you Michelle. We were most impressed with you being in tune with your diners and your quick response to my situation. And also your kindness and professionalism. Greswolde Arms you have a very good member of staff there. I hope you appreciate her as much as we did.

Family of 5 on Saturday 3rd February. TBH it wasn't great compared to the previous visit. Small portions all around, took 40 minutes for the food to arrive and the place was half empty. The Service was fine as usual, when the food arrived. Not sure if I'm going back in a hurry. Well we did come back. My sister just had her birthday meal. The chef and I'm really being kind calling him a chef. He had a nightmare 4 out of 6 meals were garbage. Old chips, something missing off the plate. We felt sorry for the waitress who was spot on. BUT I should of known when the manager severed me a cold cappuccino as soon as I walked in the place. Sorry guys but short staffed don't cut it

We visited the Greswolde for the weekend. We used an accessible room, as my wife is in a wheelchair. The room was excellent. Lots of room and the doors are nice and wide. Recommended.

Went out for a meal with family as a thank you, firstly it took ages for it to arrive. Two of us ordered the lamb shank shepherds pie which was supposed to have vegetables inside, when it came they had put a small amount of cabbage on the side and no other vegetables so it look really unappealing. When we started to eat the lamb was really good, fell off the bone but I only found two very tiny diced carrots in the pie. I think it would have been better serving a few carrots and peas with it for the price we paid.

Been here a few times always lovely food. Had to wait 15 minutes to be served at the bar. 4 staff watching 1 guy serving. Then to be told we was late for our table reservation. 🤔

Came here Sunday for a nice drink with family and friends and there was so many dogs in there it was horrible When has it become fashionable to bring your dog or dogs to the pub leave them at home There was people eating in the restaurant which isn’t divided so hair from the dogs would just flow through the restaurant And all they kept doing was barking Very unpleasant time We won’t be coming here again

We visited lunch time on a Saturday, a bit quiet. I steak and ale pie that had a lovely puff lid. Came with seasonal veg and optional mashed potato and a gorgeous gravy. Recommended.

********** I have finally got round to doing a review of The Greswolde Arms Hotel in Knowle. I have to give credit where it is due, on all of my visits in the last 5 months has been very good however the lack of staff is a constant challenge to all the pubs/restaurants in Knowle, these are not easy times for anyone. If you can be patient, you will be looked after by Lorraine & her team. Staff & Service - I have always found the team at The Greswolde really lovely, helpful and although under pressure at times, I think the team there are hardworking and lovely. I don't go of a night time as queuing at the bar proves very difficult for me. I visit in the mornings for coffee and sometimes brunch with a friend and I love it. Peace, quiet & comfort is guaranteed and the staff have time to look after me. Lorraine, Sam & Michelle helped me today, even though they had a busy breakfast session, I was not over looked in anyway. Food - I really like the brunches, the lunches and the Sunday dinners. The main menu I find a little pricey for what you get but I don't go out for meals there of an evening anymore due to my own personal circumstances. Accommodation - I use The Greswolde regularly for when my family visit. The deals are out there unless there are events on at the NEC when the prices significantly rise. Location - great location just off junction 5 of the M42 right by the shops and all the fabulous cuisine that surrounds it. Value for Money - Well it suits my pocket for when I go. Prices behind the bar are too high for me for alcohol but I guess they charge hotel prices. As for food prices, they do have good early evening offers but all I can say is the food I eat in the bar area is at a competitive price for the area and I don't mind paying those charges. Access for the Disabled - I don't have a wheelchair so I can't comment in that regard but I struggle in other ways. Access is generally very good. The use of a roomy disabled toilet is a blessing. It could do with a freshen up paint wise but it is perfect for my needs. Final comment - I know the leisure industry has had a hideous time over the last few years but really it is time now to to raise the hourly rate to attract people back into the industry. Limited staff behind the bar, in restaurants and kitchens etc means queues and fraid tempers and that is not fair on anybody. I like it there because the staff are always kind to me and I very much appreciate that.

Had an early flight from Birmingham - so Greswolde Arms was quite close. Parking was easy, the receptionist was friendly and helpful. Our room was spotless and in excellent order. We had an excellent meal in their restaurant- we will definitely be returning.

Just a spontaneous meet up with a friend for a couple of early doors drinks after work. We live locally so know the Gres well & it was pretty empty when we were there. The issue started with an order of a large Bacardi & Diet Coke. It was served in a tiny tumbler with watered down & totally flat postmix - £11 for the privilege! It could have been remedied immediately if our request for a fresh one with a bottle of Diet Coke instead of postmix had been accepted. Unfortunately Hayden ( the supposed Manager) informed us that we should have requested a bottle of Diet Coke initially and the £11 was the price & not to question his level of customer service. As a recommendation, maybe in future you could offer the options to your guests prior to serving. Also perhaps deal with your lack of quality control of your postmix. But most importantly learn how to deal with customers in a way which could have resulted in them staying for 4 rounds of drinks instead of only one. We took out custom to a bar a few metres away where we were served drinks in appropriate glasses with a quality mixer instead of a watered down flat syrup!

We went for a mothers day meal beer very good service excellent the meals came a little quick to the table and the only fault I could find was the food warmish and could have been hotter but apart from that lovely roast lunch 😋

Decided to pop into the Greswolde today for a spot of lunch with friends. The two members of staff Adam and Michelle were really friendly and helpful! I had the duck leg from the specials menu and it was absolutely delicious! Would definitely recommend and will be returning!

Attended a family we’d day this venue and due to distance booked 2 night stay. Arrived to find that breakfast wasn’t included in £117 but was included on £100 night. Very short of staff throughout the stay and on the morning of departure went to my room after breakfast and found AGAIN card not working to enter my room so returned to desk and no staff. Advised by the only staff I could find (young waitress sorting breakfasts) to ring bell but no avail. Kept ringing and knocked door to office and then heard talking. After over 10 mins waiting and constantly ringing bell I opened the office door to find the manage chatting on hhe phone and he was incredibly rude to me demanding I leave and wait for him. Tried y to o explain I was locked out of room and he ignored me after shouting at me to leave !!! When he finally came out to desk he continued in his arrogant manner claiming he was on the phone to a customer but couldn’t even acknowledge my presence and ask me to wait a min ?? Really spoilt what would have been a wonderful celebration and would never return due to disorganisation of staff and rudeness!!

Visited on Valentine’s Day lunch time. Considering it was busy all the staff were happy and friendly! We had the three course set menu for £26. It was really good value for money and the food was beautiful! The two members of staff Michelle and Adam in the restaurant were absolutely brilliant!! Could not have had a better valentines meal

Stayed at the hotel to attend a family wedding. A lovely occasion, made even more so by the very friendly and helpful staff. The room was lovely and clean, beds comfortable. Had a very nice breakfast the following day. Great place to stay.

On booking the room, the Manager, Hayden was extremely helpful and went out of his way, on the evening g to ensure the evening ran smoothly. in the run up to the evening, in email conversations with Danielle, in the run up to the evening, she was extremely helpful in ensuring the chef could provide meals to meet those guests with dietary needs. On the evening we were greeted by Hayden who ensured the room was to our requirement.. The staff showed the guest to the room and we were served by Gia and Michelle, who worked hard to deliver our meals. Everyone had an excellent evening, as a result of wonderful company and friendly and helpful service from Gia and Michelle. Why four stars? We were disappointed by the small portions of Haggis, they could have been a bit more generous with the Haggis, which was very nice. We appreciated that serving a large party is not easy, making sure all courses are served at the same time, especially as there were various options for each course, but some some of the meals could have been hotter. I enjoyed the vegetarian course, a Beetroot starter and Butternut squash main. Those who chose the Wild Boar were impressed with their choice of main,. Overall, it was a successful evening, so thanks to all at the Greswolde, including the Chef who ensured all dietary requirements were met, We may rebook for 2025. No one steed overnight so cannot comment on tMonday he hotel aspect of the pub.

A stop over for work so boss made the booking, fine looking pub i must say lay out and size are great and yes pub 1st hotel second. Gentlemen in front at desk and we were next buzzer already rang so a done a 2nd, 2 bar staff on talking and idoling then realised 1 was coming over to see to the 1st chap then us not the most impressed start. Managed a couple of pints after checking there was confusion and issue with room wasnt really resolved and same assistant what checked us in didnt do what he said he was going to do which lead to us waiting till 12:30am for blankets and pillows for me to sleep on the floor and im always true and direct with my review this is to hi light my issue so hopefully something like this wont happen again and on the off chance of us passing and staying here again may happen and pun side of things seems like it would be a nice lively place when it fills up

Just went for a meal. Service was good. Apart from not asking if our meals were OK. Neither meal served hot. Only luke warm. I wasn't impressed with my meal either.

Came in for lunch today with a group of friends. Everything from start to finish was perfect! I was recommended the steak ciabatta by Adam and it was amazing! My friends had various other sandwiches and all very very happy! The staff were brilliant, all very attentive. Especially Adam, Michelle and Lorraine! Hopefully will be back in the near future!

We stayed the weekend at the hotel for our anniversary. Lovely evening meals both nights. Fish and chips and the chicken and ham pie was delicious! We was served by a lovely lady who gave us the suggestions, didn’t catch her name but she was tall with dark black hair. She wet above and beyond especially as I was pregnant. So thank you if you see this. Our room was lovely too. The alarm went off in the morning but that didn’t stop us from going back to sleep. Will look forward to the next time.

The pub is actually very nice internally and has a nice atmosphere/vibe. However if you are staying overnight the service/breakfast needs a whole lot of improvement. The cups were stained and chipped, the coffee in the urn was cold & breakfast took almost an hour to come (and as you will see from the pic not the best with overdone toast). We asked for no spinach in our breakfasts but chef decided to still put it on our plates, we were the only ones there at the time but they still managed to get it wrong. Even though breakfast is from 7am on weekdays when we came down no staff was available & items like bread etc not topped up. We asked for alternative milk at breakfast on the first morning & were told they had run out. However we were told exactly the same thing on the second morning. Clearly shows they do not care or are looking after their customer. I did bring these points to attention before checking out & they did arrange a small refund. However I would have preferred a much more pleasant & relaxing stay.

Very disappointing visit this evening. Family of 5 had table booked for 6pm, upon arrival it didn’t appear to be busy, was seated ok but then waited 30 minutes to be served for drinks, then got the order wrong. Looking forward to a Sunday roast only to be told they had run out, asked if had roast potatoes to go with the pie instead of the smash mash potato they serve was told no. 2 starters ordered only 1 arrived, had to ask twice about the other starter only to be told the waitress who took our order hadn’t put it through! Husband had steak and ordered a side of onion rings that didn’t arrive! Then 2nd round of drinks was told had run out of 0% beer. Puddings ordered a Bakewell tart with custard which should have been hot but was cold! Was a very disappointing Visit, very slow service and poor choice of food left and was only 6 pm Will not be rushing back!!

Had a meal here around 6pm Saturday. Very busy but the 2 lovely girls working on taking and bringing out the food did a brilliant job. We had the Burns Night Menu and it did not disappoint. Excellent service and food. Well done to all in the restaurant.

A friend and I went to the Greswolde for a meal on a Sunday lunchtime. Parking was easy and free by entering your reg number in the machine near the door. We both opted for the 3 meat Sunday roast. The meal arrived quickly despite the restaurant being very busy. All the meats - beef, turkey and pork were cooked to perfection and there was a lovely selection and sides for all the meats. We then opted for a dessert of which there was a good selection to choose from. Again we both opted for the crumble and custard which was delicious. Waiting staff were attentive and despite being busy service was good. Would recommend.

I went with my friends today for brunch. We were served by a lovely lady with long dark hair in a pony, she arranged for me to have chips instead of rice with my sea bass which i was very happy with. She gave me her card her name was Michelle.Really good time.

Very expensive drinks. Abbot ale £5.15 and it was off and tasted of vinegar. Offered an alternative which wasn't even real ale. Just moved to the area. Won't be going back. Oh and green king are Chinese owned. BUY BRITISH.

I was in for Sunday lunch in a party of 27 in the Arden. The food was lovely but it took a long time to get served, but the one thing that stood out for us was a tall lady. She kept checking on us and was apologetic for the delay. She had black hair i didn't catch her name. For that reason i will return another time

My mum and I came back from a concert and noticed a low humming/buzzing noise in our room (12) couldn't work out where it was coming from and stopped us both getting to sleep. The night staff came to the room to look and simply said no one else had complained, they probably wouldn't be able to do anything and told us to mention it in the morning - not much good when you can't sleep at midnight! Breakfast next morning was disappointing - we came down at 8am and were greeted by a lady who looked like one of the cleaners who said the Sunday morning waitressing staff hadn't turned up for work and to just help ourselves to continental things. Some background music wouldn't have gone amiss as there was a deathly silence in the bar area while we ate our pastries. Coffee was bitter and lukewarm. The decor/room was lovely but unfortunately disappointing stay.

Here on business at a trade show in Solihull. We normally stay in a pub in Knowle but this time (Christmas) it was full. We had used this i would say 10 years ago so knew this was a good plan B. Excellent stay.....its been refurbed i would say since we were here last but great rooms, great food in the evening, great service and check in and parking. When your away you JUST need to not worry when you have had a hard day. The GA provides this.

I joined my friends at The Greswolde Hotel in Knowle today for our annual Christmas lunch. There were 24 of us and I can thoroughly recommend their festive menu. I had the cheese souffle (yum), the roast turkey as my main and mince pie vanilla ice cream for my dessert and all the courses were really lovely, the turkey in particular was very moist and the Yorkshire puddings fabulous. I didn't hear anyone complain about the quality of the food or the service. I also ordered a side of cauliflower cheese which was sufficient for one person. As for how we were looked after, their team of Lorraine, Haydon, Adam & Sam were really lovely, and served us with personality and a lovely 'can do' attitude. Nothing was too much. Thank you to all at The Greswolde (inc the chefs of course) I had a lovely time and the Christmas lunch and superstars that looked after us was/were spot on.

Stayed here on Business a few times and like the hotel very much. During the last few stays we have ventured out for food, tonight I was alone and chose to eat Dinner in the restaurant. The Service was Brilliant by a lovely, pleasant Lady named Bruna. The food was beautiful. I had a Mixed Grill with Mushroom/peppercorn sauce. Cooked to perfection and one of those meals you don't want to end. Highly recommend!!

I never leave reviews simply because I don't normally have time. Popped in with my colleague for a quick lunch in between meetings. We ordered 2 soups and tea for 2, which came to just under £15. As the tea arrived in a small pot, I was told by the waiter it was a large pot?. I got 1.5 cups, and my colleague 1 cup.... in fairness, the waiter agreed to fill pot up with water, but why wouldn't you serve tea for 2 in a big enough pot in the first place. The piece de resistance was the soup... Never before have I been served such an underwhelming bowl of soup in my life. A small bowl with a piece of bread that had been cut in half and slightly toasted. There was then an additional quarter piece of bread, so I'm not sure what that was all about but seemed to lack imagination. Furthermore there was no butter or even margarine... It also tasted slightly watered down... I hasten to say I won't be back for tea or soup....

A colleague and I stayed at the Greswolde Arms for one night. Our rooms were a good size, clean, and we both felt the beds were with comfortable, albeit with overly firm pillows. We had dinner on the day of our arrival, I had a seabass and scallop risotto, which I felt was nice but the portion was very small. My colleague had an unpleasant looking mixed grill with an anemic looking gammon and a overcooked sausage, also missing the grilled tomato that should have accompanied it. There was some confusion amongst staff about whether a discount was applicable on food for staying guests, with one member of staff telling us there was, and another that there wasn't. It got clarified in the end, but made us feel cheap having to ask about this more than once. We had breakfast included the following morning, I had the Signature Eggs and my colleague not having learnt her lesson ordered a Full English. My poached eggs were nicely cooked, only downside was that it was served on cheap pre-sliced bread, which really let it down. My colleague this time had an undercooked soggy hash brown and an undercooked sausage. We were disappointed by their being no orange juice on the help your self table, which we were told was unavailable only after I enquired. The self-serve coffee from a flask was also cheap and unpleasant, and only remained warm for a brief period so had to be consumed quickly. Serving good quality tea and coffee to the table is so easy to do, and would have improved this experience. Pastries were also available, cinnamon swirls which I think were bought from a supermarket, felt apart as soon as it was picked up. The room itself would have attracted a review of 4*, but such was the poor quality of two separate meals, that has been the basis of this review. We wouldn't eat here again.

Stayed at the hotel at the Greswolde Arm. The hotel room was very clean and well maintained. We had both breakfasts and tea at the restaurant and both meals were of the very best quality. Amply staffing levels are also in place, which just added to the full experience. Next time I have business in Solihull I will definitely use this establishment again. Would 100% recommend. Another success story for Greene King. They have really upped their gam!

Not a regular, we probably eat here every other month. Arrived today, a few minutes before midday. Walked to a table, had to ask at the bar for a menu. 10 minutes later, we were asked if we wanted drinks. 15 minutes later, they arrived. Debbie's green tea in a cup with multiple chips. Food arrived 30 minutes after ordering....with two other tables occupied.... Food reasonably good, pie hot, carrots lukewarm. Credit card was on table for 15 minutes before we walked out, saying as we walked past the bar 'do you want us to pay for the meal?'. {We did) Back in Knowle next Wednesday, unlikely to go in again.

I come to see friends. I haven’t seen in a long time. And the staff Bruna made our night she was so nice and polite and made our night amazing. We was only staying for 1-2 drinks and because of Bruna we stayed all night. Had a great night in the pub all thanks to Bruna. We will be back.

Attend for some food and a coffee with an old friend who I have not seen in years. We were served by a lovely young man by the name of Adam he was extremely polite and well mannered. He also recommended me the Salmon Florentine as I was struggling to decide what to eat. Which I am so glad that he did the food was delicious

Excellent food, our waitress Bruna was very efficient and always smiling. The bar was very busy but we didn't have to wait for our drinks, very good Abbott ale and a large Chardonnay

Arrange to meet a customer had a very nice brunch and coffee is an excellent service by Bruna would highly recommend and I will come again

Lovely meal served in really nice surroundings. The service was excellent and Samantha deserves special praise.

Had a meal in the bar using the large tall table but not that comfortable. There were only 2 young members of staff serving and were overwhelmed at times, and when I went for a second round the guy served me feeding details into the computer then said I’ll be back in a min without warning …never came back ..the girl eventually done it … Strange that you cannot have a bar tab when having a meal and drink .

Stayed at the hotel as we were were visiting the NEC which is only 20 minutes away. Stayed for 2 nights - check in was easy - room was large with a lovely comfy bed - pillows were a bit hard for our liking and would have been nice to have some spares in the cupboard - am sure if we had asked though, the hotel may have had some softer ones. Lovely and clean with large TV and tea/coffee provided. Plenty of hot water for a nice bath after walking around the caravan show all day. Had breakfast in the pub downstairs which was good value for money- set price for cooked breakfast but you could also help yourself to the continental breakfast as well - they did however run out of butter for our toast which was a bit strange being a restaurant! Staff were friendly. All in all, was good value for money and would stay again.

We found the arrangements for bringing a dog with us very confusing. We booked a table for 5 on October 19th. The web site said If you plan to bring your well-behaved pup along, when booking please state this. Please note, our dog friendly area does have limited tables so we cannot guarantee a table. So we booked a table and said we would be bringing two small dogs. When we got there we were told we couldn't take the dogs into the restaurant. We understand we were not allowed in the restaurant and that tables in the bar area are limited. But why suggest we book and say we are bringing a dog, surely we wouldn't need to book if we're bringing dogs? Other pub chains such as Vintage Inns book you a table in the dog area. There were just two people serving at the bar and they seemed to be over worked and making mistakes. It was disappointing to end up sitting on an uncomfortable table. Don’t think we will be back.

Really nice old style pub hotel and restaurant beautifully renovated. Friendly efficient welcome at reception and lovely decorated room plus excellent dinner and breakfast served by Bruna.

Just came in for a drink after a long shift and was greeted by the warm service of Gia, Sam and Lorraine! Such a delightful group of women perfectly topped off the experience.

We visited the Greswolde Arms for Sunday Lunch and had a superb Sunday Roast. I had the Beef and my wife had the Turkey. Both meals were delicious and plenty to eat. The service was excellent and would recommend.
