Lovely friendly staff in beautiful surroundings. We got lost and a lovely lady drove us round the marquee! Signage needs sorting. Would prefer to eat in the barn rather than a tent however lovely food and Gemma our waitress was efficient and attentive. Super food I tried the nut roast and loved it

We enjoyed a scrumptious lunch, perfectly cooked beef, in absolutely beautiful surroundings. Heaven in Devon! Not only can you sample a fantastic Sunday lunch in the bright and airy marquee in the summer, and the barn in the winter months, but the cafe offers an array of tasty dishes, coffee and cakes. If you've not been you're missing out.

We did not go for Sunday Lunch but for a weekday lunch This is our third time of going and to say it’s fantastic is an understatement. Not only are the staff so attentive and friendly but the food is on such a level and can only be experienced by going. We did pick a lovely day as the weather was really good and we sat outside. They have a set menu but also a special daily board and this variation adds to the set menu which in itself if beautiful presented.

Great food, very relaxed service with friendly staff. The marquee is beautiful and is set in stunning grounds. I would say that for me personally I would try and visit when the weather is good to truly appreciate the setting. We walked up to the cafe for a coffee afterwards which was a lovely end to our lunch. Would definitely recommend and will be returning soon.

On booking the the website stated Sunday lunch served in barn. No dogs allowed. However, on arrival we were seated in a white clinical marquee. Several dogs were present. I found the setting soulless, and it felt like we were having lunch in a residential home for the elderly. On booking we were asked if it was a special occasion I wrote birthday. This was not acknowledged on the day.....So why ask? Food was tasty, but the setting massively let the whole experience down. I will not travel through narrow lanes again to experience lunch in a tent.

We went to Shilstone on a beautiful Sunday in May, with amazing scenery and very grandiose grounds and buildings. The only downside was we were eating in a marquee. I had imagined being in a. Beautiful dining room of a stately home style building but so the marquee held up by some visible tatty CLS was a bit of a comedown. Food however was amazing but at that price I’d like you to be in a more salubrious dining room.

Stayed here for one night lovely little pub rooms very nice and cosy unfortunately couldn’t watch tv as there wasn’t a remote and couldn’t use the shower as the button was missing of it which definitely would of been noticed on cleaning … the carpet in stairs were quite dirty and the people I didn’t find very welcoming sadly

Great little bakery! Amazing, friendly and knowledgeable staff and great coffee and pastries! Pasties are always awesome too, coming in from Cornwall!

Christmas lunch for 12 of us. Pre ordered from a balanced and varied seasonal menu that included fish and vegetarian options. Excellent value and we were very well looked after. Exceptional selection of well cooked Vegetables, recipe for the red cabbage please . Some of us were disappointed that we didn't have room for a desert ! This is a family owned proper pub with helpful competent staff. Parking right opposite but payment by card challenged some of us oldies.

Limited opening times, No food so asked out of curtesy if grandson could eat a snack. Was told no but to eat outside in the garden which had a closed sign on the gate, so had eat in the smoking area. Didn't feel particularly welcome. No alternative snack was offered. Wasn't very accommodating, we were staying local and would have returned for a meal but they said closed Monday and Tuesday and we would need to book if wanted to return. I would advise anyone to give this pub a a miss as there are much better pubs in the area
