Sherwoods Restaurant in Eastleigh

Don’t bother! Went to celebrate a special occasion, and despite them guaranteeing to cater for all dietary requirements, they poisoned our coeliac. They were violently ill for 4 days after visiting. Called t9 tell them, but the manager couldn’t care less, let alone apologise. Vowed never to return. Then I was invited to carvery lunch there last weekend. A year had passed so I thought I’d give them another chance. They didn’t deserve it. We were a pre-booked party of eight taking advantage of the two course carvery. Only two of the group managed to have the soup starter as this was the last of the soup available. We asked if there was more soup and was told some would be coming. After 20 minutes we gave up waiting and went straight onto the carvery. The plates were cold, they explained the plate warmer was broken. By cold, I mean ice cold. They do have a hot plate, but the plates were stored next to the counter. I’m sure if they want to, they could find a way! I took my serving of meat and then help myself the vegetables, sat back at the table, took my first bite, and everything was barely warm. I asked a waitress if they had a food thermometer, she looked at me and then just wandered away. Everyone at the table, found the same. Nobody’s food was hot. We decided just to finish up and leave as quickly as possible. As we finished the carvery, they finally replenished the soup. Unbelievable from start to finish. Absolutely diabolical. I’ve vowed again, never to return. This time I mean it.

went about 3 months ago and very impressed, menu had variety with traditional items, went yesterday 21st June and found the lunch menu very limited. Had jacket potato with chicken curry. Chicken was reconstituted and bland. hopefully they will revert to the old menu that worked for me.

Met up with friends at this recommended restaurant for lunch. One young waiter only on duty who frankly didn’t have a clue. One coffee was served with coffee all over the cup inside and out and he asked if we wanted spoons for our dessert (!!!) - not sure how we were expected to eat crème brûlée and apple crumble without? I ordered fish and chips for main course - the batter was very pale and when i started eating it it wasn’t completely cooked. This was passed on to the waiter who relayed it to the chef but that was it, no apology or effort to at least reduce the cost. Not sure I will be going again

Enjoyed lunch and the company we had but a very disappointing point! Menu said seasonal vegetables with main course which turned out to be frozen mixed vegetables I think the chief should look at the outside world and not the bottom of his freezer!!!!! Serving staff great 😃

I had the fish and chips, very yellow, not crispy and the chips were not crispy as well. I expected better for the price. The young lady that served us was very helpful and friendly.

The wensday meal deal is amazing and lovey food and all of Eastleigh Fc staff amazing like James jack Cara and sain and tom and Ricky and hope Eastleigh win

Excellent carvery for the price

This establishment had more of the feel of a canteen than a restaurant, there was no intimacy one would normally expect of a restaurant scenario. The staff were polite and helpful, but in reality, there were insufficient staff to afford a speedier level of service. The buffet food was acceptable but not exceptional.

Absolutely FAB. We came for the Sunday carvery here at Eastleigh football club and were not disappointed. 2 courses for just under £16 and it was so tasty. We came in hungry and left full and satisfied so what more could you ask for. It was busy and by no means a fancy restaurant but we did not have to wait long at all to tuck in.

Good value for money, generous portions and friendly staff

We had a big family birthday celebration here yesterday. The staff were all lovely, and couldn't have been more helpful. The food was stunning, and we all had a wonderful time. Thank you to everyone at Sherwoods!

Nice Sunday carvery and friendly staff.

Service - good/quick/friendly Food - Plentiful/good variety/well presented/portion size good. This is a large sunny room with some very big round tables and oblong ones - suited to functions/events - with views out over the pitch. It got a bit noisy and hard to hear at the very big tables though, as it filled and the noise level rose. We went for a carvery and found: good selection of meats/vegetables etc. They also offer soup as a starter! Puddings and children's meals can be purchased separately. Peas a bit undercooked and stuffing balls a bit chewy/soggy. The red cabbage was a real treat on the tastebuds - nice and spiced - and the roast potatoes were really good too. No side sauces though - Cranberry/Apple - which would have ben a good edition. More veggie/vegan friendly options would be an added bonus. Really enjoyed the puddings. One of the better carveries we've had and would recommend.

Very enjoyable family Sunday lunch. Food was very tasty and well presented. Staff were very friendly and service Das very good.

Booked for a carvery today with family to celebrate a birthday. Really disappointed - the carvery was over cooked and cold. I have been to Sherwoods for lunch before and had been really impressed so had suggested the venue to my family, so felt responsible for the poor meal. Definitely won’t be returning!

Hospitality suite overlooks pitch of Eastleigh Football Club and the much improved stadium. Food was good and staff efficient and friendly. Recommended.

Turned up for lunch at 1215 on a Tuesday to find a notice on the door saying restaurant was closed, no reason given. I had brought guests so very disappointed

Pleasantly surprised, I didn't know it was an FC. Great food and more than casual presentation on the plate. You can tell the staff are working to put out a great product for guests. Stopped on a whim since it's off the highway, and would make it a point to go again when going that way again. All the staff were great! Good food and a honest value for the money spent.

We recently held a funeral celebration event at Sherwoods. Cara and the team ensured that our event ran smoothly, we were looked after with great food, bar service and in such a lovely venue. We will always appreciate the kindness of all of the staff on the day - thank you.

We went for Sunday Carvery at Sherwoods for the first time and I could not fault them. Lots of staff, food was excellent and as I cannot do certain foods because of allergies they even had gluten free stuffing, buns and Yorkshire puddings which is the only place I have ever had that. So well done to them.

Visited today. Had a super friendly greeting by a lovely lady which made us feel welcome the minute we walked through the door. Food was fantastic and I have to say the two lovely ladies who looked after us were faultless. I believe they are sisters. We will be recommending and will also be back ourselves again very soon.

We visited today with friends for lunch. Having booked online we specified one of the party was gluten intolerant in the booking. We arrived early for lunch - 12.30 and were told they had run out of fish & chips which was the only gluten free option on the menu so caused an issue for one of our party, eventually a burger was the only option. Considering it was so early in service this was surprising and knowing a reservation for a gluten free customer I would expect one portion to be held back as this was the only gluten free option on the menu. Service was very slow - it took over 2 hours from placing our order to the ‘one course’ being cleared away. On top of this there has food (mashed potatoes) all over the floor which had not been cleared throughout our visit. Really disappointing experience, would not recommend nor would I return.

Food was good. Service was slow - too few staff, but those that were there were very friendly and welcoming.

This is my new favourite place to lunch and it feels like Eastleigh's biggest secret as it never seems to be that busy during the week. I will be booking the carvery soon. Great staff, nice decor and vibe, great food reasonably priced.

Really gone down hill, last 2 times food was great the staff was great. This time food wasn't great, roast potatoes were more like roasted new potatoes, not crispy. Stuffing was ridiculous dry, carrots not prepared, so still had grit in the skin. Waiting staff were far between, drinks and dessert took a long time to get to the table, found it really hard to pay as staff were hard to get their attention. Think its obvious the staff lack training and attention to detail. One dropped a knife on my leg, I picked it up and got no apology or a thank you, just walked away! Real shame, it was once the best carvery in the area, a well kept secret. I have now desire to go back.

Used to visit the previous 'Sherwoods', love the new feel and the new menu has more variety, gluten free and vegan options. Very tasty - will be coming back.

What a shame about this place as it used to be top notch.We met up with friends last Sunday for carvery and on the face of it looked as good as ever and couldn't fault the waiting staff the trouble was with the roast dinner.My wife and I chose Beef as not keen on turkey,gammon or pork it was very rare,pink and wobbled like jelly.When my wife said we like it cooked more than that the surver sarcastically said 'you've come to the wrong carvery'on tasting the beef unfortunately it was tasteless and took ages to swallow as it was so chewy.The vegetables weren't much better ether.Onother thing the same guy wouldn't let my friend have crackling as he didn't have pork.Little things like that make a difference to the customer.

Good food in spacious surroundings.

Sunday carvery, 4 meats on offer, plus all the veg, everything cooked and presented to perfection. Best carvery had for many years, will be back very soon. At £12.95 per head , for 2 courses, superb quality. Was very busy when we went but staff were amazing, no waiting for drinks or service , well done all involved.

We had a large table for my nephews birthday today,the carvery was amazing and the staff were so friendly,will definitely be coming back,we'll done😋

We went with a group of friends for an Only Fools and Horses dinner. The food was very good. It was clearly home cooked and very tasty and the staff were excellent. Unfortunately the event itself was disappointing. The actors were very good but it was too big a venue and too many people for 2 actors to make the show as entertaining as it could have been. I will definitely visit again for food just not for a similar event.

Went here today for a family birthday meal. The carvery was excellent, Beef, Pork, Turkey and Gammon to choose from, I only had the Beef as it looked so good and I was not disappointed. Roast Potatoes, Roast Parsnips, Yorkshire puds, Brocoli Cauliflower cheese, swede and carrot mash, Carrots, Peas and Beans. Service was also very good so all in all one very happy family.

First class carvery food cooked to very high standard Brought the family today for a treat

First time visit with my wife and family,they live locally we traveled from Salisbury.Very impressed with both polite staff and good food,would recommend a visit.The restaurant is immaculate and nothing is to much trouble.the carvery has a good choice and has a vegetarian option.The grandchildren thought the food was good which says it all. We only live 35 minutes away and were unaware of Sherwoods,need to advertise it to a wider audience.

We visited for the first time yesterday and were so impressed. After visiting other carverys and experiencing a "bun fight", lukewarm overcooked veg and tough meat, Sherwoods couldn't be anymore different. From the moment we arrived all the staff were so welcoming and attentive. The meat (4 choices) was carved perfectly by the chef and melted in your mouth. The vegetables were cooked well and everything was hot. Absolutely delicious. We will certainly be back and can't recommend it enough, thank you.

First time for us. The carvery was indeed delicious with plenty to eat ! All staff were very friendly, attentive and helpful. very clean and spacious. Bonus, being able to look over the pitch. we ARE going again, but next time, more of us !

Excellent Sunday Carvery. £12.95 for adults it includes a complimentary soup of the day. The food is always hot and super tasty, compliments to the chef. The staff were polite and attentive. 100% recommend

Amazing. Staff were great. The three course meal was brilliant considering it was a work function with several different businesses attending. Tightly recommend for a great event space and catering.

Good carvery, but considering they knew they had to cater for gluten free there was no dessert option for me so I had to miss out on dessert at the work Christmas meal! Mind you, even the singular option for dessert had a hair in it! Also only 2 people on the bar when the bar was always going to be very busy.

Eight of us went for Sunday roast today. Lovely air conditioned room in comparison to the extreme temperatures outside. Delicious soup, tasty meat and vegetables and the most enormous home cooked Yorkshire puds. Helpful friendly young staff. Everything was good. We’ll be back.

My wife & I had our 25th wedding anniversary party here last Saturday. The venue and host were fantastic making sure everything was going well and we had everything we needed. Bar was fully manned so nobody had to queue and staff were polite and friendly. Food was amazing, DJ played all the tunes we wanted and ensured the dancefloor was busy all night. Very reasonably priced and the view on to the pitch was stunning on a summer evening. Can't recommend it enough, ideal place for a party.

yvonne and i visited sherwoods as part of a sixty person party. this venue is suitable for such a 'do' as there is plenty of room, although the atmosphere is a bit like a canteen. when we visited on sunday the sherwood was very busy indeed and was therefore a bit peeved that there was only one person serving at the bar. the waiting staff were very pleasant and helpful. 'the food' for £10.95. i suppose for a bowl of homemade soup (leek & potato) and a 'sunday roast thats not to bad these days,however, i am not a great fan of carvery meals mainly because meat portions are always skimpy and alas i had to ask the carver for another slice to add to my very thin, very small (2 pieces) of bland pork, although the veg offering was plentiful and well cooked it was as any other carvery 'luke warm' there is no way food can be kept hot sitting under a light for an hour or so. not a fault of the sherwood operation or in fact the chef its just, i'm afraid what carveries are..larry

My expectations were just higher given the price. But I found hardly any vegetarian options, I was the only vegetarian with meat eaters in a steak House. I was also hoping for fresh ice cream made in-house. But was disappointed. The service was also very slow. However I cannot fault the waiting staff at all.

Went a about 15:00 a couple of hours before they finish serving. Nice airy clean dining area with bar and view of football pitch. Roast dinner was very good. Three thick slices of tasty, tender, well cooked roast beef, crispy homemade Yorkshire puddings, tasty gravy and selection of veg. Staff were polite friendly and helpful. As it was a very warm day they had the aircon on and because of this, I think, some of the veg was no longer hot. That was my only negative. Would definitely go back and sure they would get 4 or 5* then

Great place, two course meal reasonably priced.Staff all very pleasant, looked after by young lady studying for her corporate and leisure qualifications she is hoping to be aircrew. Meal very good, although tried going back for a top up and was declined. Saving grace one of the party is vegetarian, and only had vegetables counter staff only charged for child's portion,thank you. Will certainly go again when next in the area.

First time visit after so many recommendations. A great carvery spread. The various meats were cooked beautifully, the vegetables were delicious, the Yorkshire puddings were enormous and the onion gravy was excellent. (Running out of superlatives). Great service, spotlessly clean, easy parking and very reasonable prices. What more could you want? I would advise booking in advance. This place is, quite rightly, very popular. Enjoy.

Amazing value for money and great setting

The four of were there for the Sunday Roast. We had the Nut Roast as well as all the vegetable extras. The vegetable soup was complimentary. All for £10.95. And it all tasted lovely. The desserts were £4.50 extra. The service was professional and friendly. Well recommended!!

12 of us had a delicious Mother’s Day meal yesterday. The food was as good at 5pm as it would have been earlier . So often Mother’s Day meals are substandard but not here. The soup was good, the meat was tender and the vegetables were fresh. The young staff were so pleasant and welcoming and worked hard. We have been here several times and the quality is always good.

Been on my bucket list for a while. Did not disappoint. Food was excellent, wonderful choice of well cooked veg. Masses of meat (so much I took some home for the cat). Good atmosphere, clean and music wasn't too bad either. Lovely staff, polite and attentive. Would recommend

We had a party of 12 to get together to celebrate family birthday. Staff we excellent and attentive. As for the food the soup was home made and very tasty. The carvery meat was well prepared and excellent quality. Good portions and good value for money. I would recommend this to all those whose enjoy a good roast dinner. Definitely going to visit again.

First time visit for a business breakfast and I was pleasantly surprised. Great atmosphere, great service, Greta prices and great breakfast menu. I will return.

We had my fathers wake here on Wednesday 19 December and dealt with Cara Delevingne from the outset. What amazing friendly but professional service we received whatever we asked for was not a problem and the service, the venue, the food and the staff were all top-class. I would sincerely recommend this venue. And will use them again.

Found out about Sherwoods from a friend and visited one Sunday. Wasn’t expecting such a brilliant carvery and atmosphere. Food was delicious (especially the soup to start) and service was great. Only thing to improve would be the wine stocking - they’d run out of most of the wine (and all the cheap bottles) despite it only being 1pm. Would definitely recommend it!!

Just returned from the best roast I've had in years.. Potatoes perfect, crispy on the outside.. Meat plentiful and a choice of 4.. Lovely veg and a soup starter. Will be returning soon.

I’ve eaten here numerous times, from breakfast with friends, facilitating team meetings with food, family meals to match day hospitality. The common theme is the food and the service is always top class. This place is a hidden gem and one of Eastleigh’s best eateries. Highly recommend.

We held our wedding reception at The Brooks Suite on 30 June. Virgnie was amazing, keeping in close contact leading up to the wedding and throughout the day. The bar staff and cooks worked tirelessly to ensure us and our guests were well looked after. Our massive thanks to them all. The food was great, the drinks were plentiful and the venue went down a storm with our guests, everyone was blown away at the setting and lay out of the suite. We felt as though we had found a real gem when looking for a venue to hold our wedding party and we will definitely be booking the suite again in the future when the need arises. Friends of ours who attended our wedding have already booked the venue for other events. This shows what a great venue it is. Having the bar and dance floor in the same room was a bonus, all guests were up dancing and everyone enjoyed themselves, it has been named the wedding of the year! The toilets were spotless, the bar was well stocked with loads of variation catering for all tastes. Our DJ was able to set up that morning, we were able to set up the day before and nothing was too much trouble. We were given a free reign in the setting up of the venue which was a added bonus. We cannot recommend the venue highly enough. Fantastic value for money and exactly what we were looking for, we were not disappointed in any way. Thank you!

First ever visit here today after a recommendation.It lived up to & went well beyond any expectations.Food is like music. Every ones tastes are different. But I,m sure & confident enough to praise this place.A nice spaciuos & comfortable dining area.And the staff are very pleasant & polite.There is a very good choice of meats given in generous proportions.And a good selection of vegetables.
