The restaurant is not accommodating for large groups. The food was excellent, and the service was satisfactory during the meal, although the main courses took a bit too long to arrive. The issue arose when it was time to pay the bill. Despite informing the staff beforehand that our group of 15 would be paying separately, the manager insisted on providing a single bill for us to sort out amongst ourselves. This is challenging when some are paying by card, and it's not practical to expect customers to carry change. The correct approach would have been to allow each person to pay for their own order. Although they eventually permitted this, the hassle significantly detracted from the overall experience. It seems the staff are not focused on customer support. I recall a similar situation last year when an additional fee was charged for card payments. I had hoped for an improved experience this year, but it appears a different choice will be necessary in the future.

been a customer for quite a long time of both Shere Khan's which are next door too each other. but this time garlic burned on curry making it bitter, not touched and taken back a couple days later due too work commitments. Attitude if staff was appalling. hyperfocusing why I didn't bring back on same night. I bought it at 10.30pm that night! they close at 11pm. there is a reason thes have two customers sat in whole restaurant where everyone else is at full capacity. Will never return. Shere Khan Express only in future.

Food came delivered food was cold and meat was horrible and dry and Nan bread arrived mouldy would not recommend this place to eat

Ordered takeaway as not had one from here for years and had always been nice in the past. The veg main dish consisted of sauce (curry) with sprouts, a few slithers of mushrooms and some pieces of potato. Not what I would expect for mixed veg. There was not even much of that, just loads of sauce. Very disappointing

We ordered from there 2 weeks ago and it was over two hours late. When the food eventually arrived it was cold.We gave them another chance, ordered last night, food said it would arrive at 7pm. Guess what 90 minutes no sign. Can't get through by phone. So I drove up.The guy told me it was on its way, I drove home not delivered. I went back to the place, yes drove back, phoned my wife to check if it had been delivered ,,, no...The guy had the cheek to tell me it had.Also again when it eventually arrived it was stone cold and the order was wrong.Unreal!!!! Don't order. Goto Spice Village or somewhere else.

Well ordered a takeaway today for a little change. We have not been here for a while and looked and some of the reviews. Well let's give it a try. Ordered via phone and was told an hour. No issues with that. I normally order chicken tikka, its a good gauge on Indian restaurants with a plain curry sauce. My reason is if they can't get this right, well guess for yourself. So food came and was lovely and hot. Ok the verdict chicken tikka was not that bad and was quite decent. It falls down hill a little from there. Now many will know normally with a tikka you get supplied a little tub of mint sauce. For you purist yes its not meant to be for the tikka but for many decades many restaurants and takeaways provide this, almost like a dip to complement the tikka. Guess what NONE. Ok so decided to use the curry ordered to make this dry dish a little more palletable and no so dry. The curry was well a little strange taste. I asked for extra garlic and my feelings are it was burnt whilst in the cooking process. The taste of the curry was not that special and left most of it. Tasted like a jar you can buy from supermarkets. The garlic bread with cheese was dry and couldn't find the cheese. Past experience I've really tasted the cheese not this time, actually couldn't find any. So overall experience is a little negative. I do not wish to name other establisments but are available on my other reviews, but there are other alternatives within the at helens area which may explode your pallet with taste. Would a try again, yes I never say NO and hopefully the staff will take this as feedback that can be improved.

Ordered a takeaway and was told 10 minutes. Waited for 30 minutes, then tried to cancel the order and asked for a refund. Told by the manager that he would not refund. The manager then became aggressive, swore at me. Will never use it again. Such a shame.

I had ordered food in their express part of the restaurant and came in next door to ask to use the toilet very politely the person was very rude and abrupt and obviously has no respect for pregnant people at all! No wonder no one was in the restaurant I’d advise to stay clear of this place food may be nice but the service is disgusting.

We ordered from the takeaway, but was quite disappointed with the meals. I left a negative review on there Facebook page, explaining the reasons of why we was disappointed.. Then I recieved an inbox in my personal messenger, being very arrogant! All businesses must accept negative feedback aswell as positive. This gives opportunity to improve. If they respond to all negative feedback in this way, it just proves terrible customer service!!

Me and my friend have been regular visitors of your venue over the years and have never had any problems with service or food. However recently we have noticed a difference in service. For example asking multiple times for necessities such as glasses/ bottle openers/ ice ect. The main issue tonight was that we was relocated to a different table mid way through out meal and added on the end next to a table of 20+ which obviously we felt very uncomfortable and intrusive though we didn’t book a table originally the only other option was to rush through our mains and leave our table by 8.30 when by 8.10 our mains hadn’t even arrived which we should of been aware of from the beginning. We feel like with better communication and better time management from your staff would of avoided this altercation. The young waiter who was serving us was obviously trying his best and was very friendly however quite clearly very under trained. Whereas the other 2 waiters made us feel very uncomfortable and rushed and quite clearly need a lesson in customer service. We are both from the hospitality background for 5+ years and found the level of service received quite frankly shocking. We really enjoy visiting this restaurant and hopefully the next visit we will feel more relaxed and looked after than the rushed through experience we received tonight. We are usually not ones to complain but tonight has been a completely different experience which we wouldn’t expect from somewhere we’ve enjoyed for years. This review hasn’t been a easy one for us to write however we would love to return soon so hopefully the issues we have raised can be resolved and we will feel welcome when we next return.

The chicken Gurkhali was delicious and my mother said it was the best lamb rogan josh she’s ever had. Coke served in jam jars but nowhere’s perfect.

Visited this restaurant tonight and have to say really let down by the meal.The staff were good very attentive and willing good service however the meal was a big disappointment the pomps and chutney were just ok,then the starters came these were probably the best of the meal the main meal i had was my usual Chicken Madras mushroom fried rice and chips unfortunately the madras sauce tasted like it just needed meatballs the sauce tasted like a tomato meatball sauce no curry flavour at all, the glass horse curry was a better curry for 4 adults and 3 kids the bill was £139 feel really robbed and this will be a place we as a family or on our own will not be going back too.

As a family we have been regulars to Shere Khan Restaurant, we have never had a bad meal, tasty food at great prices, my child loves the burgers, they always taste fresh. Never waited long and the staff are always friendly and cant help you enough! Would definitely recommend!

We went for our Christmas works night out,no one was disappointed, excellent service, excellent food. Don't forget to take your own booze.

Had order on deliveroo from here a while back over an hour and half late called restaurant kept saying it was on it's way and offered free meal next time asked for free meal only to be fobbed off and spoken to like dirt by the staff so rude and was phoning a number which they had but was not given giving abuse and threats to my son who wasnt even there but usually orders it for me never use this place go next door to the shere kahn Express much nicer and friendly staff

Ordered king kebab. Wow (could feed three people. Gorgeous. Chicken tikka masala. Amazing. Fast delivery and food piping hot on arrival would recommend to anyone 😃😃😃

We are here on a Friday evening, we didn't book and they were very busy but very accomodating. The food is amazing, the staff are friendly and attentive. Its bring your own beer which makes for a very reasonable evening out. Nothing is too much for them and they serve everything at your own pace. Highly recommended. Thanks guys :)

I went here last night with a group of friends , we had a great night, very friendly staff, lovely food, you can take your own alcohol, they provide glasses and ice, we will definitely be going again.

Came here with my father for a meal on Thursday night, the food and staff were excellent. Staff could not do more for you, food was genuinely some of the best I’ve tasted, with reasonable prices considering the service you get. Came here for the first time tonight and will absolutely be back again.

We visited here with friends who live locally and have been before. First impressions on arriving at the place is not good, scruffy looking place from the outside although parking is at least possible. We had booked but walked in to an empty restaurant bar two young girls at one of the tables. We sat down on a massive table, too big for the four of us really, which was laid for six ? The waiter came over and told us the do's and don'ts and can's and cant's re the drinks. We were aware that you bring your own alcoholic drinks but he made it clear that soft drinks were to be ordered. We chose the basic set 'meat' menu which is very good value at under twenty five pounds for two people. In fairness all the food we had was nice enough, presented ok and certainly plentiful. However, as others have stated recently, we too were less than impressed with the service, not very friendly, everything seemed to be a chore. I can only think that they are used to dealing with the type of late night clientele who are rude to them and so have got used to treating their customers in the same manner ? Won't be visiting again

Wouldn't recommend this place. Staff are rude and spoke to the manager who was rude too. Food a alright but wont be visiting again due to the staff.

Visited the restaurant yesterday on a group event and was greeted by a very rude waiter ...The waiter was very abrupt and even had the audacity to say he will cook the food to his standard and would not add extra spice but will next time when we come back as you will know if it's hot or not .... Well that was assumption of returning will not be upheld as the food was bland lacked spice and slow. I had special soup and the special element was a small amount of home and bargain super noodles in the middle. I had to ask for a cola 3 times and one person asked for a water that never arrived. Never again!

This is my favourite Indian restaurant in St Helens.. I've been going here for years and it's never let me down! The staff in here and great and the food quality is amazing.. I think the King kebab and Tikka masala is a must.

We visit Shere Khan on a regular basis - this is the best Indian restaurant in town. We have tried them all, but always come back here as you cannot beat it!

When they started you got plenty of chicken in your tikka masala slowly but surely the portion size has diminished sure the weights in the package but it’s more sauce less meat and more chips as a fob off.The food is nice clean well presented don’t spoil it by greed boys you’ve got it right get some more chicken in that masala we know all the tricks.

Visited with group of friends. We regularly eat out together. Shere Khan offer good range of freshly prepared dishes. No alcohol licence but diners can bring own wine and beer.

I eat at this restaurant 2 years ago the food and service was excellent, On a return trip to the UK last week my wife and I decided to go back What a complete disaster this was on Thursday January 24 Th 2019 we entered an empty dinning room, the waiter was surly We next ordered a starter dish which took for ever to arrive it was vegetarian Samosas

We travelled up from Oxfordshire looking for a great curry, and we found it, amazing place, clean,friendly and amazing food. This is a must place to visit although you have to bring your own alcohol it saves on the bill at the end of the evening.

Looks nothing outside but inside impressed, you bring your own booze so it makes it a very good price.

We come to this resteraunt regularly as we live around the corner and I can honestly say it's the most amazing Indian meals I have ever had! The meals are always full of flavour and pride, decorated with sauce on the edge of the plate. The staff are always amazing and very welcoming and that's why we leave a tip every time we come becasue the place is the best around! Very very underated and a fantastic place for all ages. Thank you for always giving us the best dining experience.

Have struggled to find a decent Indian since moving to prescot and really enjoyed my food from here. Lamb just broke up in my mouth instead of the usual chewy, over cooked, fatty meat I have had from other places. Also the curry was very flavoursome. The man I spoke to on the phone to place my order was very helpful and polite, which isn’t to hard to ask for, considering you’re paying a fair few quid. I’d definitely order from here again.

Shout out to our waiter Ziafat, who gave us a very good service, and loved the food. Highly recommended

We cake for a meal with 9 friends. The menu is fantastic the food is amazing and the staff are friendly. Music was a tad bit loud but it was turned down. Thanks food was perfect

By far the best Indian Restaurant (I have visited lots over the last 20 years as its my favourite food) but Shere Khan is hands down the best. The chicken is never a mix of good quality and bad quality that you get in some places, for example the tandoori chicken is usually lovely but then some restaurants will use cheap chicken in their curries. All of their chicken and other meats are excellent quality. Every dish is full of flavour. Their chicken soup is well worth a try and like no other you will ever experience! The staff are extremely helpful, polite and welcoming. Superior customer service with a smile.

When you want a curry you can't beat where Khan, the food is always super flavourfull, always piping hot, and always served with a smile.

Tries a few places in st helens, usually travel to southport or rainhill. I though we would try this restaurant. just had veg madras, balti and dopiaza. Absolutely lovely.

Nipped in on the chance they would have a spare table. Very reasonably priced, very tasty, had to nip to Aldi for some wine but that was more than manageable. Will definitely be back. Would highly recommend.

Went to Shere Khan last night 30/12/17 with group of friends. Service spot on food to die for great menu selection and reasonable priced total bill for 8 just over £100.

Have used the takeaway for many years and always happy with the food so decide to go the the restaurant it was a lovely night we went on a Tuesday and was surprised to find out it was a bring your own alcohol so had to nip over the road to Aldi, wish we’d have been told on booking i. Food was different to the takeaway even though I ordered the same meal. Wasn’t very happy with the chicken will go again to give another chance

Ordered food when it arrived had a person on the door telling me some sauce had spilt when I unpacked it, it was the main meal all curry sauce over everything had to clean wipe everything rang up and said they would deliver another lamb masala we’ve finished ours and my partner is still waiting first time we have ordered think last what a disappointment

Visited on a Saturday night . Even though we hadn't booked and the restaurant was busy they soon found us a table . Food as always was fantastic along with the service. Will definitely be returning

I visit this restaurant quite a lot on this occasion with a big group but the food was still unbelievable! Allowed to take your own beer in as well which is fab

came here for a birthday meal with my parents & wasn't t let down. the server was really friendly as he greeted us 7 then showed us to our seats. he told us they don't sell alcohol so it was just soft drinks which was fine with us but you can bring your own drink with you if you prefer alcohol. we got onion bhajis to start & popadoms, some of the best I've tried to be honest. then to the mains, the portions were really good, food was hot, tasty & looked great. i got the chicken tikka chilli masala & it was perfect. didn't have to wait long between starter & main either. we all enjoyed it & will definitely be coming back soon.

Me and my bf came for date night and it was really really quiet I mean we were the only two in the restaurant which was a little strange. The food was nice and came quick the staff are great the price range was average and we had a lovely night

Lovely food. Great staff. Visit most weeks. For a hot dish I totally recommend the Chicken Nepal. Same strength as Madras but exquisite taste.

This is my umpteenth visit to this restaurant. Has a lovely atmosphere and is very clean. Staff are polite and friendly, and don't rush you, even if you ask for a break between courses. The round tables are great to sit and eat with friends, as you can chat to each other quite comfortably. The fact that you can take your own alcohol is a bonus as makes it a more affordable night. Staff happy to supply glasses. Food is always nice and tasty. What else can I say other than. Go and give it a try, as I'm sure you will enjoy

First time we tried and so impressed by how fresh and tasty our food was. Staff lovely, friendly and really helpful. Definitely the best and worth travelling from Rainhill.

Absolutely the best in St. Helens , and we have been and tried them all, there like our family and friendly and the good is always high is standard it's amazing, we've never had a bad meal here and will cater for everyone.. Long delivery waiting time, when food arrived it was worth the wait! The smells of the spices used is lovely, rice, dips, meat, sides! We couldn't eat it all which was a shame! Good value for money also!

Been here a few times.. if you are looking for more of a 'fancy surrounding' then its great... I do find most Indian restaurants are all very similar food wise.. but that simply means the food was excellent...

Been here twice now, and both good nights. Great service, friendly staff, very clean. Fab food and you can take your own alcohol, which helps keep the cost down. No rush to get you out, let you have time in between each course if required. Nice relaxing place, good atmosphere.

My family and friends celebrated my daughters graduation last night at Shere Khan. The food was amazing and the service was excellent, a family member commented that it was the best Indian meal she had in a long time. Thank you Shere Khan for making it a memorable night.

First visit and we booked at very short notice for 9 of us including 2 small children for an 18th Birthday family meal, which was no problem at all and on arrival the table was decorated for the birthday boy.

Shere Khan is the best Indian take away in St Helens, the food is always a very high standard and amazing food. Never too long to wait until food is served. Staff are friendly too.

Surprise birthday for my wife food always good @ this place so no change service ok first time we've eaten in usually do takeaway from here but the service could be better we asked for what was left to be taken home my daughter had a bday with her and never got to eat her meal only had 1 bit of chicken so it was a full meal the came to her and told her they dropped it in the kitchen when they should of made her a new one without question I only found out when we got home or I would have said so. So this is why I've given it a 4 mark but will go back again

The food here is absolutely delicious. The prices are so reasonable given the quality and quantity- we very begrudgingly left food because we were so stuffed!! The staff are really efficient and friendly. Well worth a visit.

I was hoping for a decent take away ( a rare thing in St . Helens) after the great reviews it looked promising ..... Sadly not. Over coloured food, too much salt and frankly a messy mass produced mess. I ended up in the bin.

We have been here a lot since first going for a Xmas day meal which was a nice change. We are always made to feel at home and the food is brilliant. Always cooked to perfection. The tandoori set meal for 2 is what we usually go for and it is huge. Definitely recommend.

We came here in a group of 18 for a friends birthday, the food was excellent as was the service. The food all came out at the same time which I find to be issue in other restaurant when in a big group. This is a place where you bring your own beer so be aware of this before you go. I have been here a number of times now and always enjoy the food, I would defiantly recommend. They also have a takeaway option and in my opinion it's the best takeaway in St..helens.

Food is typical Indian not really a place I would frequent again like a drink with a meal and you have to bring your own starters ok mains a bit hit and miss not for us bit cheap and tacky

My wife and I have been here several times and have not been dissapointed yet. We Have tried a good range of meals across their menu and also asked for preparations not on their menu and been delighted by all.

I visited Shere Khan with a party of 20+ for a Birthday meal a few days ago and I was nothing other than impressed. The food itself was absolutely gorgeous (and plenty of it...). My starter came later than everyone elses and the staff couldn't apologise enough and were quick to chase it up for me. The restaurant itself was lit up with neon lights inside and they switched the music up a little louder later in the evening. Which by the way, made me want to go out on a massive drinking sesh around town - Haha.

This is the best Indian Restaurant we have visited (and there have been many) The menu is extensive with many specialities. There were five of us and we all had a different starter and main. As usual we shared and there was not one disappointing meal. All were delicious. The service was great and friendly and the ladies were given a leaving present on our way out. A really nice touch.

What a great restaurant! Went on Friday night 9:30 and the welcome and service was brilliant! Menu - what a delight, so many different dishes - so unusual! Nice atmosphere, nice surroundings, nice staff and excellent food! Added bonus - take your own drinks!

Dined in numerous Indian restaurants over many many years, and can definitely say Shere Khan the restaurant is by far the best. The welcome is very warming and you are made to feel at ease straight away, l ordered King Prawn Dansak while my wife had Chicken Katmandu with pilau rice. As normal a delightful experience, already looking forward to our next visit !

Ordered a takeaway tonight and it was delivered very quickly. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed their meal, but I mainly want to comment about my hot and spicy kebab. It is something that I will definitely be ordering again as it was absolutely delicious and is more than enough to share with another person.

The surroundings are stylish, really nice as well as comfortable and practical. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the service from start to finish is fantastic! The food is perfection, my partner and I have enjoyed everything we've ordered and I can't wait to go back again especially for the veg Banglore, topped with banana's and cream its my absolute favourite! My boyfriend likes his food really spicy and loved his meals, there's plenty for both of us to choose from, as a vegetarian there's still a few more options I haven't tried yet so I shall be back again asap,nom!

So glad that Shere Khan has returned and fully operational - by far the best Indian food in town - always enjoy, and always friendly staff - DONT mix this up with the take away next door which is poor in comparison this is the restaurant which offers tables service and ALSO take out - Certainly recommend and will be returning!
