The owner is very friendly and helpful. They food is good, portions are adequate. It was very quiet when I was there, the owner said that since covid business has been much quieter. Pity, it’s a nice place run by a really nice man.

I used to eat here regularly some years ago and was always happy with the food. I believe the ownership hasn't changed but the food certainly has. I drove there as I wanted the Phaal I once had, as I loved its 7 chilli rating. However, it was an appalling excuse for a curry, barely above Korma strength. The pilau rice was closer to Chinese fried rice. So disappointed I couldn't eat it. If this is an example of what they offer these days, I won't be returning

We chose to go here for a birthday meal after reading the reviews and I can honestly say the food was fresh and hot but, the curry was tastless I ordered a sambar. The mixers with the drinks were flat and for what we had it was over priced.

Had a walk through st Helens centre last night. Walked past the palace balti. And it was rammed. No seats available. So we ended up going to the Tandoori Ghar. It was empty. Only us in their the whole time. The host was a lovely fella. Poppadoms to start. Nice. Onion bhajis was ok. Not the round balls. But flat ones. The wife got chicken shashlick more like chicken tikka. Didn't come sizzling. Small pieces of chicken. Small curry sauce. I got beef jalfrazy with keema rice. With a garlic and coriander naan. It was the smallest meal I've ever had. Could of ate it in 4 spoonfuls. And the naan was not cooked. It was doughy. They don't have any takeaway menu. He just gave me his phone number. Witch was strange. Only positive was they do beef. So if your hungry. DON'T GO HERE. ☹

Never been here before and can't get my head around why. It's the most nicest Indian food I've ever tasted with the best service ever. Can't wait to come back and would highly recommend. It's the best Indian I've been to in my opinion. Food is tasty and good portions, staff are fantastic. It's just a great place. Cant fault it at all. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!

Amazing food and very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. The newly refurbished family run restaurant looks incredible and tastes the same. Highly recommended as the best Indian restaurant in St Helens. We had a party of 6 adults and 4 children, everything was bought out together so we could all eat at the same time. The kiddies even had their own smaller portions of Tikka masala which the owner was only to happy to provide which made for a very pleasant enjoyable evening ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Ok from the outside it doesn't look much and the inside looks a little dark. (first impressions count and all that...) But the service is excellent and affordable. Staff are very friendly and talkative and the quality of food is exceptional. I know someone on this site has complained about serving "crinkle cut" chips - Keep it up those chips are to die for. We come in here the occasional Fridays and always find a warm welcome. I use it also for take aways. Well done to everyone who works there. - Phil and Mark

This was the place we would stop in after a drunken night out in St. Helens many years ago . To be honest the decor looks pretty much the same . And the choice of drinks behind the bar includes brands I haven’t seen in years. The food however was fantastic and the choice was excellent. The chips may very well be crinkle cut frozen . But do you really go to an Indian restaurant for chips ??.The portions where just right and couldn’t fault any of the food we had .so even though it looks a bit dated I’d recommend a visi

This place has got to be swerved at all cost. If your hungry go and forage in the nearest skip, you'll get a much better meal. The service is disgusting also. Despite the cack that was served to us ( which only one die hard ate ) I ordered a jug of mango lassi. It was served fulll of ice ( not blended ) and when I questioned that it tasted of banana the horrible scruff told me he bulked it up with banana!!! What ! I couldn't believe it. It didn't even have mango in it. And just to rub salt in the wound when I questioned him he told me I've already complained about the food The tramp didn't even knock it off the bill even tho I didn't drink the stuff , thankfully ! Coz looking back in hindsight I'd probably still be on the bog So unless you want colonic irrigation, give this place a miss !

Worst indian iv ever had tasted better out of a jar,i got vindaloo wich was like spicy soup i asked them to change it they did the 2nd attempt wasnt much better i was then told by the owner if i didnt like that it couldnt be fixed! What a joke, luke warm food, took ages to cook, most of customers were unhappy and conplained also naan bread was paper thin like a pitta bread, and burnt vindaloo wasnt hot in the slightest and the owner was the rudest person iv ever had serving me,didnt like the customer feedback and was arguing with us about the food,we refused to pay for such poor standard and he locked us in and rang the police! To wich we missed our lift home and had to wait around arguing with him pointing in our faces calling us all sorts then about 20 mins later he realised thw police had better things to deal with and let us out! False imprisonment and worst curry ever had and customer service.avoid this place at all costs im warning you !!!

The best curry house in town by far! Okay, admittedly the decor isn't the greatest but you don't eat that...what you do eat is fantastic authentic food to die for. I love it here, been loads and never been let down. Admittedly on every occasion I have entered this establishment I have been relatively close to passing out but it has hit the spot each time. It always puzzled me why the chips were red until someone pointed out they were 'tandoori' chips, the chef should get a michelin star for that invention alone. To be fair it is a bit run down but I wouldn't have it any other way, if you like good curry, excellent service, flock wallpaper and bright red chips the Tandoori Ghar is well worth a visit. Its cheap too, always a bonus.

We were in St Helens to attend a gig at the Citadel. We don't know the town so spent some time looking at various restaurants that were open. None really appealed to be honest, however we wanted a curry as we thought that would be the "best of a bad bunch" option . We popped in to the Tandoori Ghar is the menu looked tasty and the prices were good. Yes the decor is dated and it has seen better days. However the food was very good indeed and the staff were great. Excellent value. The wine , in particular, was drinkable and well priced. Don't let the decor put you off- give it a try.

It's no surprise there have been no reviews of this place. Right before people say I've been or was an avid fan of this place years ago. Yes you heard right years ago.The food in the early 90's was proberly the best in St. Helens for an Indian. Sad to say this place has gone down hill quicker than cheese in Somerset. The place lacks atmosphere and is dirty. The kitchens are rough and not what should be expected from a restaurant, that's first hand experience. The carpet I think was bought from Crystals Nightclub now closed down. The toilets are no better than you find in a park, smelly and unclean. I am surprised that the council have not closed the place down, I think they did once. The staff are a credit to this place but that's it. The chicken tikka was the best in town once and the curries were great. NOT NOW Sorry honest opinions hurt but hopefully the owner will read this and progress getting this place back to where it was. Finally it caters mostly for drunks late at night not a place I would want to take my wife to. Rating very poor

This is the absolute best Indian takeaway in St Helens, by far... We normally order king prawn tikka starter's, with a king prawn puree, not the cheapest but bloody good. Followed by a mix shashlik kebab between the two of us.. Truly amazing food ! Thanks guys ,keep it up...

The restaurant is not accommodating for large groups. The food was excellent, and the service was satisfactory during the meal, although the main courses took a bit too long to arrive. The issue arose when it was time to pay the bill. Despite informing the staff beforehand that our group of 15 would be paying separately, the manager insisted on providing a single bill for us to sort out amongst ourselves. This is challenging when some are paying by card, and it's not practical to expect customers to carry change. The correct approach would have been to allow each person to pay for their own order. Although they eventually permitted this, the hassle significantly detracted from the overall experience. It seems the staff are not focused on customer support. I recall a similar situation last year when an additional fee was charged for card payments. I had hoped for an improved experience this year, but it appears a different choice will be necessary in the future.
