Four of us popped in for lunch, lovely pub food all cooked fresh and hot food served on a hot plate. Very competitive prices. Lovely pint of beer all served by a friendly staff. I suggest you give it a try you will not be disappointed.

Popped in for lunch during the week. Very impressed from the moment we arrived we were very well looked after. The service was superb and made sure we were happy with everything. We had a great choice of dishes to choose from including a full 3 course lunch. We decided to go straight for mains. 2 of our party including me chose the Smaller portion of sausages and mash. We had 2 sausages a very generous portion of delicious creamy mashed potatoes and garden peas. On top of the sausages was finely sliced fried red onion then served separately was a jug of thick tasty gravy. The third person had chicken and bacon sandwiches which I understand were also very tasty. Our puddings were homemade crumble served hot with creamy hot custard again delicious !! I can highly recommend the Shepherds Rest and will be going back for another lunch sometime soon. The staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Thank you.

Visited for Father's day, Carl and Heather great hosts. Booked a table for my family, 15 in total. Hospitality really good, food excellent as nothing left on the plates, grandchildren really enjoyed their food so a special thank you to Simon the Chef. Varied menu, would highly recommend a visit.

We went as a couple midweek. The pub itself has been renovated to a high standard making it feel warm and cosy! The food was great at reasonable prices. The staff were friendly and approachable. Fab atmosphere would highly recommend.

Had something to do in Galmington today so we popped in here for lunch. We had the vegan burger and the southern fried chicken burger followed by ice-cream and a chocolate fudge cake. The food was amazing and delicious, the staff were super friendly and helpful and made sure that everything was good for us. The restaurant itself was lovely and inviting. This was the first time I’ve been here and would recommend to others to make a trip here. Will definitely be coming back.

Went for the Xmas meal 13th Dec. The whole evening was a great experience. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, service was good and the food was lovely. Served with a smile,well presented and hot. First time I had been there,definitely going back again. We used to be regulars until management changes but now new managers prompted a return and so pleased to have our local back. Good food in a nice atmosphere. Highly recommended although more vegetarian options would be nice.

Shep’s used to be a family favourite and regular, but it went downhill when John left and new landlords tried to compete as a chain pub. Stopped going. Heard Simon is now back in the kitchen, so gave it a try - good move as it’s already heading back to the pub the locals loved. Will be a lunchtime regular whenever I can get there.

Highly recommend the Shepherds Rest if you’re looking for excellent food, a great menu and good value for money. The service was fabulous and efficient. The beer garden was fantastic. Plenty of tables which were spaced out well and there is an undercover seating area as well. Considering this is my first visit to a pub in two years, I was highly impressed with the very welcoming staff and the set up of the environment, catering for all ages.

We went for a Sunday Roast on my Granddaughter's birthday. The staff were all excellent and very friendly. All the food was home cooked - no "bought in" food. My Granddaughter said it was the best roast she had for a long time. I had chicken, two had roast beef, my husband had ham/egg/chips - which was delicious he said. With the roasts we had roast potatoes/carrots/cabbage/broccoli - all cooked just right. We booked again for a future date.

Absolutely amazing food at the sheps! Haven’t been here for a while and it was the first time back out with the kids since all the lockdowns… we all had burgers and they were great value and super delicious.Great atmosphere and the kids really enjoyed it.The new outside area is fantastic with lots of seating.Would not hesitate to return.

My family of which two require gluten free food visited this pub/restaurant, our first since last March. We are still worried about covid but like the majority of the country we need to begin doing normal things again for our our sanity.We were thoroughly impressed with everything about our meal.Firstly there is a modest quantity of outdoor seating, of which are not within close proximity of the smoking area, and we felt reassured and safe in this environment.The service and food were wonderful, my wife and daughter had good options for gluten free and even were torn about what to opt for, my son had a burger which looked amazing, sadly he devoured it quickly and didn’t leave me any left overs!My steak was cooked as I love medium rare and was beautiful.It was also nice to enjoy a pub pint, would recommend this pub and will use again in the future.

We stopped here on the way back from a day trip and were so pleased we did. The staff immediately made us feel welcome and were great with our young children.We were really surprised by the menu which offers lots of choice at really reasonable prices as well as the great choice of gluten free options (SO nice to have ‘proper’ gf options instead of having substitutes on regular meals)Our fussy eater children loved their meals and our burgers were amazing - it’s worth a visit just for the burger menu! We booked a garden table and were professionally greeted following the Covid protocol. The staff were welcoming & friendly rapidly taking our drinks order.The garden area is now a delight with great facilities under cover. The food order was taken and I have to say very reasonably priced under the lunchtime meal deal.When the order arrived all four of us enjoyed our lunch which was very tasty. I commend the Landlord and his staff for all the hard word and professional way in which customers are served. I would not hesitate to recommend this venue

Me and the mrs came in for what we thought would be nice pub food, we ended up both having a burger and for almost £9 each we were expecting something at least half decent, it wasn’t. The burger was almost charred and hard to eat and the chips were chewy as hell and if we hadn’t drowned them in Mayo we would’ve needed to practise the Heimlich manoeuvre. we had a side of onion rings to top off the reheated food trilogy that was probably sat on the side from the day before they then offered to remake the burger which then came out and was okay to eat but nothing screamed quality especially the lettuce which looked like it had been sat on by the chef. All in all the waitress was nice and that’s the only positive I think I can give. Not a nice experience and if anything a learning curve

I had takeaways during lockdown so thought I try the new beer garden was all great Lou done out with A lovley extension to it with all tables and service great covid procedures. I had a ribeye steak which was succulent and cooked to perfection with fresh salad and my friend had fish and chips lovley crispy batter a great price service and surroundings was pleasant and relaxing would definitely recommend this experience to anyone we didn’t book but advise booking as we were leaving was getting busy

Since the 29th March last year I have been very weary about Covid-19 and have not been out to a social event with Meetup.. I would like to say a huge thank to the entire Shepherds Rest Bar Staff and Team allowing to be able to host a lovely evening following government regulations.. Table service fantastic and I felt extremely safe, happy and was able to enjoy a drink, meal and catch up with old and new faces. Anxiety and Panic due to Aspergers Syndrome was no where to be seen last night.. A huge relief and opportunity to relax and chillHighly recommend the Scampi but my next visit I have been tempted with the Pizza and 2 Pint Offer Looking forward to passing very soon! I ordered a takeaway roast and was perfect,vegetables and roast potatoes cooked to perfection and plenty for my requirements the meat turkey I had was a generously given to me and the gravy was just perfect. The food was hot always a bonus when having a Sunday roast and obviously proves its all fresh,VERY generous portions all for a great price of 7.50 I WOULD definitely recommend the food here as eaten before and always been spot on,also following great cover procedures with a friendly smiling staff member taking payment contactless

Since the 3rd lockdown began, the Shepherds Rest have been offering a takeaway service Friday, Saturday and Sundays. Although totally missing having a drink and food actually in the pub, for now this is definitely a little piece of the Sheps that you can take home with you! And if you close your eyes while eating it, you could actually be sat in the pub!!! It’s brilliant!! Really missing pub life, but for now, we are over the moon that we can still have that connection with a pub that the community would be lost without. The food is just as good as it is if you were sitting in the restaurant. We also have the addition of delicious pizzas too. Contactless, timed collections are totally safe and there is also a delivery service at a nominal cost. Needless to say, this is a brilliant takeaway service where the food is cooked to order. Always amazing! Thank you to John and Sarah for always being the highlight of our week. Something we all need during these difficult months. Highly recommended.
