Shaz in Worthing

Sadly the Rupchanda Special was inedible. Covered in a sauce (which was tepid at best) so I returned it to be heated. No apologies. I then attempted to eat it! This dish was two small flat type fish "on the bone" tiny bones at that and impossible to deal with. Two mouthfuls and I was done. I informed the waiting staff and they were totally uninterested. In fact they looked at me looked at the dish and wandered off without a single word or apology. To be fair our group of 12 had a great dining experience but I still felt it necessary to identify the shortfall in service and menu.

Lovely kind people that run it , service and quick , 10/10 food , this place actually made me like curry I used to hate it . Nice and clean aswell

Stayed in Lancing and had a takeaway from here, the food was delicious and there was plenty to share. We had 2 different chicken tikka dishes, 2 flavour naan breads and rice. Definitely recommended 👌

In my opinion, this is the best Indian takeaway in town. The extensive menu has everything and more. The prices are amazing and if you eat in you can bring your own wine which makes eating out more affordable. The staff are lovely and it's really clean. We're working through the menu trying different dishes and have never been disappointed.

What a pleasant surprise. Just had a takeaway whilst on route with our campervan. Excellent quality, generous portions and friendly service. Would I live nearby I'd probably order several times a week. We shared a special offer, set menu for just £13,95 and had plenty for the two of us.

We walked down to the Shaz with neighbours. Straight away, they remembered not only them but also lovely details about them. Including rice and chickens! (Leftover rice kindly packaged up for our neighbours chickens 😊) The service was lovely, we had quite a laugh, the food is amazing, we will definitely walk down again. Thank you.

This is the first time I’ve used this restaurant for a takeaway since we moved to Worthing. I was not disappointed. Excellent Chicken Dopiaza and magnificent Keema Naan. Delivery was quick and courteous

Always a fantastic curry. The team here are awesome. Food always really tasty. And great value too. It’s being your own alcoholic drinks which makes the price unbeatable. They now have a larger eat in restaurant. Highly recommend!

Lovely food and amazing takeaways.

This has to be the best Indian food we have had. Very extensive menu at amazing price. Everything we have tried has been really tasty and costs on average less than £20 per head for a feast. We love that we can bring our own booze as that means we can afford to eat out more often.

Superb food, 1st time trying this place and without a doubt, 3 people have been converted, 100% will go back again. The portions were a great size and came piping hot, the rice (pilau) had a lovely smell to it, juicing the taste buds towards the flavours to come, I had the Shaslick chicken, the chicken was so tender it melted in the mouth, plenty of it too, along with the onions, peppers and half a tomato, which tasted so fresh, had a lovely crunch and really complemented the chicken. The sauce was lovely and creamy, with every bite my taste buds were singing with joy......I'm waffling now. Please please try this place, you won't regret it.

Lovely restaurant!! Has recently been done up, new decor looks great. I have been a fan of the Shaz for a long time and had regular takeaways but I personally love eating in as theres very friendly staff. As a bonus, parking is always easy too. Particularly like the set menu deal as great value and get everything I like!! Best Indian in Worthing!!

The food was delicious as usual. The front of house was here with a woman "helper". Although we had seen her there many times in the past, it still looked like yesterday was her first day as she was shown how to place the cutlery and other basic duties throughout the evening. It felt uncomfortable as she kept hovering behind our table and did not seem to understand simple requests from customers in English. She brought plates over but instead of placing them on the table would stand behind you expecting you to take them from her, same when collecting them from the table, she would stand there and wait for you to give them to her. We were asked if we wanted poppadoms as soon as we were seated which arrived within minutes with dips. However, nobody asked for our drinks orders and when we were halfway through the poppadoms, we had to ask the front of the house for drinks ourselves. He only took our full order much later and unsure if he was having a bad day but we didn't see him smile once the whole time we were there. She took the card payment at the end of the evening which was a little worrying as it did not look like she knew what she was doing and again, he had to show her afterwards, while binning our receipt which we never saw (we had to check our bank app to make sure the payment had gone through and that it was for the correct amount). All in all, we love the food there so we will absolutely return but the service was truly disappointing.

This is the only Indian restaurant we use. We have it as a takeaway sometimes but prefer to eat there when we can ( that way you get all the dips with the poppadoms which you would need to pay extra for if delivered. We had mixed tikka and vegetarian samosas for starters followed by a mixed vegetable Malayan curry and a garlic Shashlick chicken for mains, accompanied by a plain and a garlic naan. The food was fresh and piping hot, absolutely delicious. They do not serve alcohol there but you can bring your own or buy soft drinks. We have never had a disappointing meal there, they remain top of our list!

The Shaz is my local curry restaurant, situated just across the road from The Anaz. What a choice! The Shaz is unlicensed and allows customers to bring their own alcoholic drinks. This, combined with their fixed price meal menu of starter, main course, side dish and rice or bread is a winning formula. Don't be fooled by the low prices and modest decor, the food is fantastic and the service impeccable. 5* from this happy regular customer.

Excellent service, lovely clean cutlery and sparkling glasses, with beautiful white linen cloths and napkins. Food is excellent, very very good, the chom chom chicken is wonderful. They are in the middle of a refit at the moment, but are still able to produce wonderful food and amazing service, not to mention really good value for money. Would highly recommend

Waited 2 hours for our takeaway. The three times we phoned to ask where our food was they put the phone down on us. Will not order from them again.

The food is lovely! but don’t trust the delivery driver!!! Delivery took over an hour and when I called the restaurant for an update they said my delivery was left outside my door so upon making my way to my flat front door there in my hallway was my food 😭 the delivery driver came into my home without informing me or consenting!! , He did not buzz my building intercom didn’t knock on my door and neither said anything! When he entered my home without me knowing it!! 😱 I have contacted the police too

Awful + Avoid. Meal arrived cold, meat was so dry it was inedible, no taste to the sauce, very watery. Save yourself from the disappoint and go over the road to Anaz.

First time ordering - will not be a repeat order. VERY DISAPPOINTED Food quality was poor for what we paid - £35 for special chicken - nothing special! Naan bread missing. Do not waste your money on this establishment.

Really Excellent and consistent Bangladeshi Curry take away, maybe don't eat in to expect ambiance

Been using this place a long time. Ordered a deliver for four of us and asked an estimated time and I was told one hour. After one hour forty minutes I called to check and they said it had left a few minutes ago. They said sorry and offered a little something next time I order. I said you can do something now if you like and the reply was I'll throw in a portion of chips. Firstly why would I want chips with my meal and secondly you just told me that the order had left already. I have 2 x disappointed kids and we are all hungry. If they just told me that the order would be two hours I wouldn't have bothered or I would have collected it. If I need chips I'll go to the chip shop. Rant over.........Also why did they stop throwing in a few poppadoms.

How this place has the reviews it has is beyond me, we have just had really poor food from here. Lots of different dishes but all of them exactly the same colour, Chicken Dhansak that tasted more like Korma, Sag Paneer not made with paneer cheese but melted cheddar just a mush... we had takeaway so maybe the food is better when you eat in ?

Very disappointed with the food. Over priced. Mean portions. Over sugared to the point of being tooth meltingly sweet, Over salty, bland. Only good point delivered promptly and delivery man polite. Would not recommend.

Wonderful meal from Shaz Indian. Delivered on time. Very tender chicken dishes with great flavours. Mushroom bhaji was the best we've had. Couldn't find Bombay potatoes on the Just Eat app but we survived that minor issue. Looking forward to more meals from here.

Well this was the first time I have been here with some friends and it was lovely.Ok, made the classic schoolboy error of not realising there is no licence here so bring your own alcohol which really keeps the prices down.We had the £10.95 meal deal of a start, main and side. My korma and naan was lovely. Good portion sizes, friendly staff and good vibe.Really recommened

We has the dine in £12.50 banquet menu. This included a starter, main, side dish and rice or nan. Great value for money and great tasting food. You can also take your own drink, which keeps the cost down. Highly recommended.

Second time of trying this and still disappointed so won’t go there again. Both times items were missing and quality poor. First time put it down to them being busy in the restaurant and wanted to give them a second go but still not impressed. Appears the restaurant takes priority.

Well this was a bit of a pot luck chance ....From the outside looks very u- inviting very unkept. Anyway we decided to go with the flow and not judge the book by it's cover and we are so glad we didn't . This is a very small unlicensed restaurant with seating for approx 30 guest so a very tight sqeeze The not so good Small and not an intimant place so if you are looking for a one on one talking about personal stuff this is not for you!!! The takeway service can be a bit of a nightmare why ...!!!The dam phones ring constantly on the welcome desk and isvery loud (common sense put phones else where ) and if your unlucky enough to sit by the desk be prepared for ring ring ring and loud Intraction between shop and customer !! Putting those aside the food was excellent no badgering are you ready to order etc and all came out hot and fresh and do a great buffet price of £13.00 BUT watch out for the poppadoms at an extra price which can soon mount up to £15 a head .... Bring your own booze is a win win,however soft drinks on display in cans for you if you don't drink but also beware of totally inflated prices for a can of coke !! Would I go back YES 😀😀

Very good food and excellent value for money particularly as you take your own drinks. The service is always very good and they cater for individual tastes in terms of serving the food whatever strength you like it, The chicken and king prawns are both very nice.

We have never dined in but discovered Shaz when looking for an Indian takeaway.

The food is outstanding, we have visited on many occasions and never been disappointed. No matter what we have ordered it has always been exceptional and then the bill arrives and you cannot believe how much value for money it is. We will not eat in any other restaurant. IT IS THAT GOOD.

We ordered a curry through this company and asked for it to be delivered at 1930 hours. They arrived at 1830 hours about 15mins after we ordered. We sent the driver away and called Shaz to complain and request a fresh new curry be cooked. They promised they would send a new Curry and apologised. The same driver arrived an hour later with food but we discovered it was luke warm. We knew they had just put the curry aside and kept it relatively warm. The venue is about 10min walk away so there is no way the food would be as cold as it was having being driven. We called to complain and asked for compensation. Shaz just denied keeping it warm and said I had to take my complaint up with Just Eat. The conversation was not civil. The man kept interrupting me telling me to give the Curry back and they'll give a new 1. This food was now on out plate. We asked for a 50% discount as the order was over £45 and we had to heat this food up ourselves. They kept saying they couldn't give us a refund as we paid Just Eat but the issue with the warmth and quality of the food is nothing to do with Just Eat. The man then put the phone down on me after repeatedly interrupting me and shouting at me. This company do not have a clue about customer service. Be warned. If they take your money regardless of the quality of the food you will not see it again.. Go somewhere else!

A filthy wet night in Worthing, very hungry, a curry was needed. We looked through Shaz's window...full, and made to go elsewhere. But we were spotted and ushered inside, "that table's going soon". And so they did...after a while.

We have been to Shaz a few times over the past few months with different groups of friends / family. Each time we have received a friendly welcome, we also have taken children for an early evening meal and the staff were helpful and accommodating and allowed us to bring in a high chair for a toddler. The food is high quality, authentic and very reasonably priced. The service has always been very good. We are looking forward to visiting again soon. Thank you! Sarah

My family, friends and myself have been going here for many years now. The food is always excellent, admittedly the service can be a little on the slow side, however as we are never in a hurry this is not a problem for us. Over the years I have tried many other eateries but always come back to Shaz as the food is great and its great value for your hard earned cash. I would go as far as to say this is the best curry house in Sussex

It's bring your own which makes the price super cheap. There are lots of places to buy booze nearby so it's no problem. All the food was very good and the ingredients good quality. The sauces with the Poppadums could have been better but other than that really good. Will return again for sure.

Came here 2 months ago and everything was good. Came again and waited 20 minutes for the menu, only 2 tables, then 1 hour for the food, the food was mediocre compared to previous visit. Then we where stung with the bill, so watch out. The bill said £56 we had 3 set meals at 12.95 each and 3 papadums £6 odd. On the back of the bill was written in small print the correct amount £42 We called the waiter over and he immediately dropped the price to what was written on the back of the bill. AVOID at all costs we won’t be returning whilst this poor practice at the least is still being carried out.

Always been going to Anaz since it opened and up until about two years ago Anaz always was the best. However move aside and hello Shaz! What have I been missing you get your order on time, you get your order and not someone else’s or bits missing. It’s fresh not soggy and old, won’t return to Anaz now. Shaz for the win!

Good food exerlent service never a bad meal

Mate and I shared a meal, bumping it out with side dishes, so we had a great value meal. Nice naans, good rice, good onion bahjees, but the mushroom dansak was heavily laced with coconut - not something I’d expect to taste in a dansak. Presumably a miscommunication with the kitchen.

The quality of the food never lets us down! Always a fantastic meal both in the restaurant and if we order a meal to be delivered to our home..plus great staff..always eager to please everyone.

Popped in whilst in the area waiting , having not eaten here before had a Thali so that can try a few dishes. One thing to note is they have no drinks licence, so soft drinks only though could go to the nearby garage or shops to get your wines or cold beers.

Popular with my son's girlfriend and her family we decided to give it a try. Shaz is small but its brightly decorated has a nice atmosphere and the few covers are laid out well. On arrival we were immediately asked by an English waiter if we woul like poppadums and they arrived very quickly with generous sauces. There were only 2 people serving and the Bangaldeshi one was virtually constantly answering their two very loud phones presumably taking take-away orders. As soon as he put the phone down it rang again.

This restaurant has an extensive menu and the food is divine. We use the take away and the restaurant and have tried many things on the menu. Great service . Highly recommend

The service,food and experience was all good at this restaurant. The only slight negative is that being one of the first customers the restaurant was quite cold. Needed some heating in there before we arrived. The king prawn puree was excellent.
