Sharksfin Bar & Restaurant in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Was staying in Mevagissy for a weeks holiday and someone recommended this place to us for a Sunday Roast. Now I've had a fair amount of Sunday Roasts in my time .. some poor, some Ok and some great .. This defintely came in the Some Great catagory. Everything was cooked to perfection and arrived at the table piping hot. I had the beef and my wife had the Pork which was also excellent. Infact it was sooo good we went back one evening for another meal. If youre staying in Meva you have to go here.

We always eat at the Sharksfin when we are in Mevagissey; today there was only one waitress, as someone had phoned in sick, but what a star she was! A coach had obviously come into town and suddenly the restaurant was quite full, but she carried on and everyone got their drinks. We ordered the fish and chips, and as usual, it was superb, beautifully white tasty haddock and we like the fact that the batter is quite thin and not fatty. We would also like to thank them for holding onto hubby’s glasses as he left them there last week. Many thanks for a great meal, coffee and super service.

Don't know what has happened here. The food used to be lovely. Been here about 20 times and never had a problem. But this time we had to send two meals back. We didn't go back all week. But will try it again next time we are in Mevagissey. Will up dated then. I hope it goes back to how it was. The service is very good our waitress was lovely. Have just gone been back. Sunday 3rd November 2024. Had Sunday lunch and it was spectacular 😋. An amazing turn around. Well nice. The staff were terrific as well. I'm so pleased, As this is a lovely place. Also had mussels on Wednesday and they didn't disappoint.

We had some great seafood here, local catch I would think. Delicious, rich chowder and a flavour packed hake. Only the ciabata disappointed a little. Friendly and helpful service, relaxed atmosphere and although the music was rather bland, it kept just about in the background. Would definitely return.

Food was great, service was friendly and efficient. Mussels were wonderful the hake was really tasty and eyes bigger than the belly as usual!

Delicoius food with a lovely view of Mevagissey Harbour. Dog and child friendly.

Beautiful location. Our 4 year old was able to watch the boats whilst eating his lunch. The tomato soup is by far one of the best! Partner enjoyed a burger and chips. The service was very good. Will definitely be back.

We called in to the Sharksfin for an evening meal during our recent stay in Mevagissey. Just WOW, amazing food, fantastic friendly staff and an amazing atmosphere. 5* and can’t recommend enough how great this place is. Our favourite meal of our recent Cornwall road trip.

We had a very nice lunch and drink there. The staff were very good and the pub overlooked the harbour.

A lovely restaurant, great drinks and the food was lovely, especially the chowder. Unfortunately one of our party was very sick a few hours after the meal. The only food they had that was different to the rest of us was mussels. As a seasoned shellfish eater, an unexpected and unfortunate outcome. The restaurant has been contacted but no response as yet. However, one bad mussel does not reflect the quality of the entire experience we had.

The calabrese seafood chowder was delicious - best seafood soup I've had. My wife had the chicken burger which was also very tasty. Staff were friendly, lovely atmosphere and a great evening for just the two of us.

Absolutely amazing day spent at The Sharksfin for our daughter's wedding last Saturday. Wow! What a venue! From start to finish everything was wonderful. Great service with happy staff who were enjoying looking after us and wanted to make the day special. The canapes were gorgeous and main meal truly excellent. The Chefs worked their socks off. Would highly recommend. Thank you to Lisa and her whole team. You were fantastic! We will be back for a roast very soon 🙂!

Had looked for somewhere to dine. After checking review scores and our 1st choice was not as pleasant as we'd thought. We were pleased we dined here. The food and service were great. Recommend you visit!....

Very friendly staff Food excellent Price good ,on the dear side but you only get what you pay for.

Good menu and Service. Very quiet in the evening, because of the dreadful weather, but the place and bar had character.

Booked via OpenTable app asked for specific table looking out onto harbour. On arrival staff had noted request, reserving table for us. Service was quick and efficient from friendly helpful staff. Ordered from specials board starter scallops, mains hake loin both cooked excellent. We have been to Sharksfin many times and always found atmosphere to be welcoming with great food and nice staff, highly recommended.

Sunday roast was lush! Pricey at £21 I thought, but very tasty.

Had a family breakfast which was great can’t fault the staff or food at all.

Seriously incredible food, the best fish I have ever had, with a variety of classic and innovative dishes there'll be something to everyone's taste. Staff always absolutely lovely, and the restaurant itself is beautiful with a lovely view.

Situated right on the quayside of this lovely Cornish port of Mevagissey, the Sharksfin is a great venue for a late breakfast. The weather was fine and the picture windows were wide open which simply added to the overall experience. Breakfast was cooked to order and included all the essentials of a Full English... my only criticisms would be that BBQ beans do not add anything... my choice would be good old regular Heinz and dry cured smoked back bacon instead of streaky would make this breakfast perfect. Good tasting flat white coffee. The place was busy, so it takes a little while to prep and serve freshly cooked food, so just relax and soak up the beautiful location. The Sharksfin is dog friendly which was nice to see. Very reasonably priced and friendly service. Living locally I will certainly be visiting more often....

The food is very overpriced for what you get. I ordered a chowder which was £27 and I got a lot of potatoes and very little fish. A bottle of wine is at least £28 and ours was listed at 12% when in fact it was 11.5% on the label. The dryers in the ladies toilet were broken, all in all a disappointing experience.

The side salad contained cheese and croutons. A coeliac or vegan would not be able to eat this so either have a vegan gluten free option, or mention this clearly on the menu. The food otherwise was pleasant.

we ate here one evening, the food was great. i had fish and chips with mushy peas. great good , tasty and well cooked the service was top class

Went in for an impromptu dinner last weekend and was forced to sit on a 2-seater table, which was completely in the way. When asked for another table was told all other tables were reserved by the young waiter. I then watched as the 8 tables that were vacant, stayed vacant for the next ~2hours that i was there. Think they need to focus more on customer service rather than lie to customers to try and look busy...it's all a shame cause the food was actually good. Doesnt leave a good impression.

We love The Sharksfin. It's an absolutely solid bet for us every time we are in Mevagissy! Honestly, staff, food, portion sizes, atmosphere, drinks fantastic! We visit every year and we love it!

The best clam chowder we have had

Treat yourself on holiday to a delicious meal at The Sharksfin. Maybe a little more expensive but well worth it. The Marinere Chowder was sumptuous, so creamy and tasty, huge portions. The special , Baked Hake with Lobster sauce was sumptuous, tasty and light. Go on.. treat yourself.. enjoy the view and the excellent food.

Absolutely stunning food. You can tell a lot of effort has gone into designing the menu and you can taste the passion in the food. They have mocktails which was great as on our baby moon but it would be great if they got some 0% wine as I think it would really compliment the food for guests who can’t enjoy their wine menu

We had a very impromptu lunchtime visit to the Sharksfin and I have to say, above all else, the service was absolutely amazing. All staff were so attentive, and during a busy lunchtime service it was so impressive. We could see that one of the staff members was supposed to be on a break but she went backwards and forwards to her food in-between serving hungry customers. The Fish Tacos & Prawn Tacos were absolutely delicious and a pint of my favourite Neck Oil made the whole experience perfect! We’ll be back next time we’re in Mevagissey 💯

Three of us and one little dog came in for an eve meal after a recommendation from a local shop owner. So glad we did, what a fantastic meal. My chowder was divine, the best I've ever had, and the sticky toffee puddings were exceptional. Great service too and well spaced tables along with lovely views of the harbour. We will most definitely be back! Highly recommended ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Absolutely amazing food! The Blackened Fish salad was the best meal ive had in a long time. Service great, lovely setting and views.

There aren't many restaurants that boast 'great staff' on their uniforms and totally live up to it. My husband and I spent our holiday evenings in Sharksfin, drinking cocktails and watching the world go by (including Del Boy and Rodney, Mevagissey's resident ducks); I'll be dreaming of the Sharksfin Harbouritas for a long time to come. The pork belly is out of this world and the atmosphere is calming, while being the dog-friendly heart of Mevagissey. Book a table and order a Harbourita; you'll love every minute.

Lovely restaurant right on the harbourside. Superb seafood menu but still do burgers etc. Seated quickly and ordered drinks without delay even though it was quite busy. Food ordered with problems and that came quickly as well. I had the seafood chowder and it was delicious! Couldn't manage dessert as the main course was so big.

Been here a few times, I love that it's dog friendly and not too packed together so you feel you can breathe. Friendly people and a nice selection of good food, some dishes better than others but no complaints, and all with a glorious view of the harbour!

Very well decorated restaurant. Options for meat eaters, fish eaters and veggies etc. Nice to see dogs welcome. Service was very friendly and professional by most. Coffee was great, cocktails were very tasty, food colourful, plentiful and delicious with really nice ingredients for each meal more enticing than usual menus on lovely crockery. My only suggestion is the toilets aren’t really that nice for the standard of the rest of the restaurant, cheap ply toilet roll, all a bit rusty and tatty and wet, mirrors caked and the air dryer area is saturated and spraying water everywhere, the loos was just a bit of an afterthought when designing for an otherwise lovely place to eat, drink and relax. I’d still go back though for sure!

Mevagissey is somewhat limited in choice, but this place is one of the better ones. Price wise it's not cheap but very competitive within the surrounding area. The desserts are to die for! Delicious! The starter's are great and very flavoursome I had the pork belly bites, there is a good menu to choose from. For mains I had a whole Sea Bass, Wow! Absolutely superb 👌 Mouth watering! Definitely worth a visit and the staff are really friendly 😊

We ate here tonight (a Friday night), was quite busy but despite this, staff were kind, attentive, and kept areas really clean. We would especially like to thank Lily for being so attentive, informative and kind. Drinks and food tasted good too.

Had a lovely meal here with my husband, we had belly pork and fish tacco with garlic bread, and calamari and fish of the day, lemon sole. All of the food was delicious, free glass of prosecco as it was hubbies birthday. The service was amazing, I think our server was called Jake, nothing was too much for him, so friendly and helpful . Not the cheapest and didn't enjoy the aperol spritz drink, but nice for a treat

Excellent food. Excellent ambience. Service was very good mainly. On one night only, there was one server who paid a lot of attention to a pair of dogs to the detriment of customers: IE: poor hygiene (non existent) between fussing dogs and serving next table. Dishes not being served together for meals. I would highly recommend this restaurant just be aware. ☺️

We ate at the Sharksfin for the first time in many years. It was an amazing experience. Very friendly and helpful staff, who brought a bowl of water for our two dogs and made them feel welcome. The food was absolutely delicious, probably the best meal out I’ve had in a very long time. There were six of us dining, including 2 teens and 2 octogenarians. There was a great range of food, desserts and drinks for everyone, all prepared and delivered with great care and attention. Did I mention the food was delicious? I highly recommend the Sharks Fin, the salad bowl with blackened fish was amazing, my daughters rated the chocolate brownies as some of the best ever, and they are international experts on the subject. Thank you Sharks Fin!

Nice StAustell brewery restaurant / bar with apartments above. Small bar area to the right with larger dining area to left, bith with large windows facing / opening on to the Quay. Very pleasant service. Smart, clean and nautical modern if you know what I mean. Enjoyed the drinks. Menu looked nice but not super fancy. Recommended.

Went here for cocktails and they were great - didn’t eat but smelled delicious!

Went to Shark's Fin for my birthday meal on Saturday afternoon. Superb meal and excellent service. Very wet day so restaurant was quiet. Can't recommend it enough

Gorgeous restaurant right on the harbour front with beautiful views. The food was delicious - mussels, lemon sole catch of the day and seafood chowder especially! Star of the evening was definitely the sticky toffee pudding! Lovely, relaxed atmosphere with great service too... what more could you want!

Went here with family staff were brilliant food was delicious I had catch of the day with fresh vegetables great atmosphere definitely would go back .

The wings and a side salad were the prefect portion size for lunch. Very tasty salad with seeds and some surprise ingredients - very yummy. The wings came with the sauce on the side so you can be in control of how spicy hot you want them to be. Fabulous x

Wonderful food and service. Moved to Mevagissey 4 weeks ago and couldn't get booked. I can see why. A gem on the quay. Celebrated my daughters engagement. Wonderful evening. Thanks to all staff for making it special. Just got back from a lovely breakfast at this gem on the quay. Again service & food great. Just pre-season and hoping they will cope with the masses who will no doubt be knocking on the door of this harbour front food palace. Well done again and I got the job as assistant with the Cornish Youth Choir. Bonus. Yihaa.

Lovely place in an amazing location. Staff were great. The drinks and starter were very good, but we ordered the Mariniere chowder. It had lots of lovely fish and seafood, but the sauce was absolutely full of butter and cream - so much so that it was inedible. 3 of us felt the same 😕

Just what we needed. My husband had beer and I had coffee. Both lovely. This is not a chain and homemade cake was on offer. Its more of a licensed cafe and just a few feet from harbour.

I ordered the prawn linguine, there were 4 prawns and the bowl was swimming in cream. No flavour and overall all you could taste was cream. I only ate what I did because we had been walking all day and I was really hungry. Made me feel sick. The staff were apologetic. I never complain but this seriously was a waste of money.

We randomly opted for this restaurant whilst visiting Mevagissey for the day and so glad we did ! The service was very good, staff were attentive, we did not have to wait long to be seated, get drinks and have food served. My husband had the cheeseburger and fries while I had the fish of the day, which was lemon sole on a tomato carbonata with broccoli. Both meals were fabulous and we would definitely go back on another visit to Mevagissey.

The vegan cauliflower was good, as were the mushy peas but the fish and chips were dry, overcooked and tasteless. Really disappointing. Expected better from the reviews and a fish restaurant in a fishing village

Amazing food, very friendly staff and gorgeous location!

Great service, greeted as i arrived, i had a booking and was shown to my table, i was seated at the front of the restaurant with a view over the harbour and sea. Food was excellent, chicken thighs in a sauce and were just cooked right, the meat fell from the bones, and I had a burger with fries, well filling and a great atmosphere in the restaurant. Highly recommended

Small portions and not much menu choice.

What an amazing restaurant...not a huge menu but something for everyone and kids menu which was nice. Lovely views of the harbour....if you want a window seat , ask when booking but harbour is visible from all parts of restaurant. Lovely, friendly attentive waiters and waitresses.....very busy Sat night ( last day Of Feast Week) but nothing was too much trouble. Husband had the pork ribs for main and I had the chowder.....wow!! Stunning food....hot, fresh, tasty and plenty of it....my chowder was full of fish and other sea food....plenty of veg too.....we also did our bit for charity and had the Sticky toffee pudding....that was glorious!!! We have eaten here during the day and service was also great .... tonight made it special for us. Thank you...we will back 😊😊😊

Great location with lovely harbour views from the snug area. Service was friendly and attentive. Really enjoyed the food so went 2 nights running. Super dog friendly.

Like everywhere else on the coast of England you can eat good quality fish and chips, but that's about it. The young men make it clear that they don't want this job (which I can even understand). Loveless service that feels rather harassed by the customer. Unfortunately there is no seating, the food is only intended to be taken away.

We’ve had a really lovely lunch here today. The restaurant is so light and airy and super dog friendly. We were given a warm welcome by front of house, and the food was delicious. We had hake with capers and cherry tomatoes with a side of fries, and a salad with falafel which was fresh and very generous. Top marks to the waiting staff and the kitchen. Highly recommended.

Lovely place for dinner and I can’t wait to go back. The food was fantastic and tasty. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Dog friendly inside. We got a kids fish and fries, adults fish and fries, New England style chowder and fish tacos all of which were amazing.

My parents had the most magical evening here, raved about the scrummy food and the team were so helpful in surprising the both of them on Fathers Day. A huge thank you to you all x one day hopefully I'll be able to come visit too!

Lovely harbour side restaurant. Dog friendly which is a plus, our little pooch got lots of fuss and attention. Food was lovely and service was great. Would definitely recommend.

A really lovely restaurant that caters for every allergy, & with food freshly prepared & Cooked.. Absolutely loved my meal of Belly Pork in Chipotle sauce..Would definitely recommend a visit..

Not great. A 50 minute wait between starter and main course, and the main when it arrived was cold. Front of house staff were great but the kitchen clearly had a bad night!?

Another visit for us; the Sharksfin never disappoints; good service; polite staff and excellent food. (Mr Grumpy was on a nearby table and the staff were extraordinarily patient, going the second mile)

Food was excellent, service perhaps short for number of covers well worth a visit 6 of us Bill about 360 with tip 10% voluntary. We had cocktails for ladies and Sav blanc Wine. Six beers for the boys. starters x6 mains sea food x6 deserts x2. Beatiful view of the harbour.

The Sharksfin is most likely the place to be in Mevagissey. You can enjoy a drink early evening or a dinner. The menu concept is a peculiar one, the pasta is literally all over the place: dried tomatoes, shrimps, panna, pesto, you name it! Very generous portions though. The wine is nice.

Booked a window table for our anniversary - didn't get one. Menu was poor with standard pub food fayre - used to be so much better. Ordered Sea Bream with tender stem brocoli got cabbage instead - no warning that would be the case. Very disappointing.
