Shard Riverside in Wyre

Food was delicious, the staff were helpful and friendly. There was a great deal on with the children having a free meal with our adult meal. The view was gorgeous. The children enjoyed their special drinks as we were celebrating a birthday.

Randomly chose to eat dinner here and have a few relaxed drinks as it was a lovely warm evening. The view is relaxing, however, the place itself is quite dated and needing a bit of tlc. The food was reasonable. We chose to eat in the bar area as the dining area appeared slightly oppressive. I do feel the bar staff need a little educating, when asked to make a standard old fashioned he seemed a little over zealous but it was quite poor, when asked if he had added brown sugar (the staple to a good old fashioned) he replied eh…no…I then asked for some honey as it had been mixed. I feel this would improve the place. Also the gin and tonic could do with a few frozen berries or a slice of cucumber as opposed to a ginormous wedge of grapefruit. All in all perhaps a 6/10 rating.

Following a pleasant walk by the river Wyre we had lunch here. Service was a bit slow at first, but this was due to new, young staff. The Staff were polite and helpful, but needed to keep going away to check on our queries. However, we were delighted with the menu, which included fish, chicken, steak, salads etc. We all chose different dishes & they were all delicious. We will definitely return & recommend this restaurant.

If you want to relax The Shard Riverside is perfect. Set in the most fabulous place overlooking the river Wyre. It’s so beautiful to sit out side and just take in the most beautiful scenery. The sunsets are glorious. You are guaranteed a warm welcome from all the staff the shining star being Michael who seems to be everywhere. The room we stayed in was beautifully set out and spotless the en-suite bathroom again spotless with an incredible shower. The restaurant itself is totally exceptional, the menu is very extensive with something for everyone. The quality of the food is 1st class. The night we stayed I had the steak and it was cooked to absolute perfection. So if you fancy a cheeky night away you will love it here. Cannot wait to go back.

Have eaten here on numerous occasions but not in the last 6 months. We booked a table online and upon arrival was met with the Manager to say sit where you want no interest in the booking details. We had to get to get menus from the Bar area as none offered as well as drinks . The menu choice has seriously declined with no option of any Salad as a main option. The food was of a good standard although no check back from any staff. The waiting staff are very young but clearly they are training issues as the waitress had no idea of the Soup of the day. During the meal found myself going to the Bar as no offer of a refill from any staff. We ordered a Sweet and waited 25 minutes before I approached the waiting staff to check on how much longer for the sweet to be delivered to be told by the Manager we have been busy with a table of 12 in a off hand manner . Conclusion there are much better Pub Restaurants which offer a far superior meal at a better price with proper customer service and training. Having worked in the industry managing multiple hotels I feel this establishment is in decline & would not visit again . To the Manager do some research and look at The Eagle in Weeton better prices quality service and a tried & tested menu,

We only discovered this place last month, and today we had our second visit... Zero complaints from us! : -) The staff are super friendly and accommodating... The menu has a lot of choice and variety; so far, everything has been VERY tasty... The location is lovely, on the shore of the River Wyre. We very highly recommend : -)

We visited on a Saturday afternoon and were the only people in the restaurant. Attentive service,clean , warm cosy dining room with lovely views across the river. Food was a little on pricey side but good size potion and well presented. No complaints.

We stayed at Shard Riverside last weekend as we were attending a wedding nearby. I cannot thank the staff - particularly the manager Michael - for all of their efforts to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. I had a problem with my daughter, and the kindness and sensitivity shown by Michael was exceptional. He even insisted on bringing us breakfast to our room as we were unable to come down to the restaurant. We were made to feel so welcome and looked after. This level of care, friendliness and service deserves mention, and I could not recommend this place more highly. Thank you so much!

The Shard Riverside was good on our first visit a year ago - to the point that today we drove from Bronte Country in Yorkshire (for lunch). The restaurant is beautifully decorated and an oasis of calm, with great views of the River Wyre. The menu offers a great range of dishes - we ordered Thai haddock goujons and a Prawn Cocktail to start. The chef (Dale Saxon) balanced the two very different tastes and textures perfectly - it would have been easy to over-power the fish. This was as good as enough you would find in the West End of London. Our mains (lamb kofta and king prawn linguini) were just as good as the starters and the service throughout was impeccable. I was very pleasantly surprised by the size of the bill - tremendous value for money. Treat yourself - visit the Shard Riverside, you'll certainly see us there again.

We recently booked the riverside shard inn for a wake for 50 people. The inn laid on a beautiful buffet of both hot and cold food and pastries all were delicious. We had our own area booked but mainly sat outside due to the beautiful location. The staff were so helpful throughout and very accommodating even when we turned up early. If you are looking for a venue to host a gathering to an intimate dinner for two I would book here.

Fantastic location at the riverbank, the venue offers accommodation and a restaurant. Grilled salmon was delicious and so was the Pinotage Rose wine. Friendly service, spacious dining room. Thank you!

How disappointing, felt very patronised as soon as we were greeted by the Maitre De very offhand then very condescending through out. Left us waiting for ages after after our main course because he was talking to someone and despite trying to attract his attention he just ignored us. There were only three tables occupied so he had no excuse for the disgusting service. TIME HE FOUND ANOTHER VENUE.. He is obviously bored and couldn't care less

Visited the restaurant for food and had a great time. Despite there only being 2 of us we were invited to one of the best window tables (4 person table) because "they want everyone to have the best experience"... I noticed mid way through our meal the same treatment was given to another couple. The food was great, the service was friendly (and fast). Next time we travel up north for a holiday we'll certainly be stopping by for another meal!

We visited for lunch on a cold and wet Wednesday in early January, surprised to see the restaurant about a third full with a cosy feel. Our son in law had gifted us a raffle prize for two courses, the menu had a good variety of seasonal choices and we selected the homemade steak pie with roasted vegetables and chips and fish, chips and peas. My husband declared the fish to be very fresh, nicely cooked and a large portion. My pie was delicious, the meat was superbly tender, well seasoned and again a very generous portion. For desert the white chocolate and strawberry cheesecake was excellent and beautifully presented, my husband’s blackberry Bakewell crumble was equally delicious and served with hot, thick custard. As we only live five minutes away from the Shard it hasn’t really been somewhere we went to for a meal, not sure why!? However we will definitely be back and have recommended to friends and family.

My family and i had a lovely meal once again at this restaurant. Everything was just perfect. The meal itself was excellent and staff were helpful and friendly. It was a pleasure to re-visit here. A welcoming friendly atmosphere from the Shard team. Restaurant and bar area are comfortable, attractively designed. A family celebration, the team were well organised, delivering eleven meals quickly and efficiently. We had pre-ordered starters and mains by request and the all the dishes were beautifully cooked and well presented. Staff were attentive to us, ensuring we had a relaxed, happy experience. We will definitely go back again. Looking forward to trying the festive menu!

Went with my partner and had two starters and two mains for £50 and was disappointed tbh.. My bruschetta was good, the other starter was duck with pancakes which were burnt. My main was a burger which was average and fairly tasteless, the other main was barnlsey chop which was nice though the potatoes were hard. Drinks were good but little pricey at £11 for two drinks. The option was either here or the Cartford Arms, and im sorry we didn't choose the Cartford. The food was edible, though average at best, and i didn't complain although we weren't asked whether we enjoyed the food which would have been the opportunity to raise the matter. I wont however return here to eat in a hurry. Im sorry i cannot be more positive with the review

Myself and my wife vist the shard often, and the food is always amazing if somewhat a tad pricey(you get what you pay for I guess!) Not really one to write reviews but felt the last couple of visits there seem to have been slight changes, the steaks don't seem to be chargrilled they're very anemic and bland and the sauces seem to be some what lacking possibly a change of chef? We shall continue to visit but maybe try something different next time!

Called in at lunchtime and were largely ignored. Eventually a disinterested and miserable waited turned up with a menu. What drinks do you want he said, then we waited an age for him to return and tell us there would be a wait for the food. We just did not have the time and left. He said the two for is were on the house, which was the only redeeming feature. People who call in to purchase their far from cheap food do need to feel welcome and not ignored. Not a good experience, and we are not encouraged to return!!

Can't believe after over sixty years living locally that I have never ventured into this establishment or why not!I took my Husband for his Birthday treat and we had a table in the window overlooking the river which was lovely, service was efficient and friendly.Food was delicious and even though there was only a restricted menu we both found something we fancied and both thoroughly enjoyed, we had the wild mushroom risotto and the belly pork followed by sticky toffee pudding and chocolate brownie.Would definitely recommend this restaurant and eager to go back again when we next have something to celebrate.

First visit to a pub since lockdown so wanted to go somewhere a little off the beaten track and chose the Shard-we were not disappointed. We opted to sit outside in the fresh air and sunshine watching the river. We only went for a drink but ended up having lunch as it was so lovely. The young man behind the bar greeted us warmly, as did the young lad clearing our plates. There is a one way system in place insides, hand sanitisers and you give your details (track and trace). Disposable menus, plenty of space inside if you choose to eat in, as were quite a few customers. We certainly will return. The food, although only a shared sandwich with rustic fries and coleslaw, was fresh, tasty and plentiful. A lovely place to chill out. Well worth a visit.

Had a meal Christmas eve nice staff and ambiance food great but small portions. Ok for special occasions but would be expensive for regular visits.

I stayed at the Shard last weekend with my family, after a 5 hour journey we were welcomed with a friendly smile and the customer service throughout our stay was top notch! Our room was clean, tidy, light, airy and modern and we all slept like logs (we had a family room) The food was so delicious and there was so much choice our children as fussy eaters were delighted! We will be back and so pleased we have found this little treasure

Went here on Sunday and took the In-Laws for a Christmas treat. They looked after us all so well. The restaurant is in a gorgeous location looking out on the water and it is so clean and welcoming. The staff are really helpful and make sure you have everything you need. The menu is extensive and they will accommodate you in any way they can which was lovely. The food is then utterly delicious and you enjoy every mouthful. We had such a lovely time here. Lovely restaurant. We will be back for Mum's Birthday in June! Many thanks again.

The in-laws took us here for Sunday lunch recently and overall we enjoyed it. The setting is lovely although at 6pm in December setting doesn't count for anything. The restaurant itself is lovely, nothing to fault at all. The roast beef was a bit tough (the in-laws had had better on previous visits) but we all finished our plates. Nice desserts too. Service was very good.

We stayed here on an overnight trip to do some business in Blackpool.

The hotel was well furnished and staff very good but the food was not as good as we expected. Menu was not varied and portions were small the hotpot especially.Also the food was overpriced for what we had.Sorry but we will not be returning.

My elderly grandparents booked in February for Christmas Day as they wanted to host our four generations of family whilst they are still able. The management have repeatedly refused to take a deposit but not made it clear that the booking was not actually confirmed. They have now told us they cannot accommodate us which has left us at this late stage with nowhere to go. In our opinion this is a disgraceful system towards booking Christmas as we believe they have held on to see if they could book out the rooms and then cancelled us when they’ve done so.

My elderly Grandparents decided last Christmas that they wanted to host Christmas for our 4 generations of family, a rare opportunity. Having moved into a small flat due to decreasing mobility they could not host at home, so they looked around and chose the shard. They booked in February, however my Grandpa has phoned numerous times and they said they didn’t want/need to take a deposit. He today received a phone call to say they wouldn’t accommodate us. It appears if they fill bedrooms day guests get bumped. We now cannot find anywhere for Christmas lunch. If this system had been made clear we could have looked elsewhere.

Booked for Christmas Dinner in February 2019 for a party of 10 - 4 generations of family - for Christmas dinner. An opportunity to make happy memories to cherish. Sadly my 86 year old Grandfather received a phone call today from the team to advise they can no longer accommodate our booking. A very poor way to run business, I guess they must now have filled all the rooms so don’t need our money. Apparently they don’t confirm bookings at the time, so despite numerous phone calls from my grandfather over the last 8 months offering a deposit and to check everything was ok with the booking we have been let down, but that’s ok Shard you didn’t confirm the booking. Thanks very much Shard, hope you all have a Merry Christmas.

I called for lunch on Saturday with my husband and 93 year old mother who is a real foodie! The mussels are highly recommended and my husband just loved the suet pudding which is banned at home!!!!!! (Apparently delicious gravy too).The view from the conservatory was fab and we were made to feel most welcome.Gem of a place and we will certainly visit again, may even stay as it also offers rooms. First time we stayed here & will def return. Room was lovely, very quiet & extremely clean. The young man on reception, then served us drinks & even organised a taxi for us- he couldn’t do enough for you.

Lovely place. Our server was very good. Asked re flavoured gin and he recommended the marmalade gin with a Mediterranean tonic. Wow together they were beautiful. Had the duck lollies. Burger. The coconut ice cream was lovely. I did pinch a piece of my mums sticky toffee pudding Light and gorgeous. We shall come again Also the outside seating area was a beautiful view

From the outside, this establishment looks modern, stylish and well kept, with spectacular views over the River Wyre and Shard Bridge. There is a nice seating area outside with wasp traps to keep the wasps away.. good thought.Inside, the theme of madden, clean and stylish continues in the bar and dining area. Staff are young, well dressed and very good at their job, being attentive and pretty knowledgeable. Dining area is well furnished and bathed in natural light, with proper tablecloths, cutlery and glasses laid out. Menus are very good with a mix of food (meat, fish, veg options). Food arrived quickly and was well prepared, presented and hot. Staff were on hand to offer condiments or top up drinks.In terms of a simple dining experience, I cannot rate this place highly enough, I shall certainly visit again!

this Place serves wonderful Food . We had Breakfast, Lunch & evening meal here . and was not disappointed on any of the food or service given. The Shard is situated beside a Tidal River so if you want superb views while you eat this is the place. I would recommend this place any day

Although we did not stay in the hotel and therefore, cannot comment on the hotel itself. However, we did eat in the restaurant and, frankly, it was a disappointment...

We went for Sunday lunch. There were 13 of us and the service and food was really good. There is a good choice on the menu. The only downside was that it was so hot in the restaurant. They could do with some fans. I realise they didn’t open the windows as there was a lot of wasps about but the heat made it very uncomfortable.

Regular visitor, fish pie gets better and better as does the gin selection! My partner and I love visiting as the food and service are second to none, high tide made the view spectacular ! Huge thank you to the staff especially Geneen who looked after us especially well tonight. Highly recommended.

I had gone last week but was very disappointed and vowed to not go again. The Shard manager got in touch and convinced us to go back. The food was back to its incredibly high standards and was lovely. We had duck lollipops to start and then I had fish pie and my mum had blade of beef. Was absolutely beautiful and we didn’t leave a thing. It was stunning food. The gravy with the beef was particularly outstanding. We will DEFINITELY be going back. So glad it’s back to one of my best local restaurants. Thank you!

We ate here for our evening meal, as this was my son's graduation day, michael was in charge and we got good service as the restaurant was very busy. The meal we all enjoyed and we enjoyed the night Thank you for decorating the table for us . We will return soon .

We have visited before and been disappointed however tonight we enjoyed a lovely meal with great customer service. The team seems to have changed which may account for the improvement. The food was enjoyable however the only slight problem was a number of items on the menu had run out so our choice was limited. The restaurant area has lovely views of the river and the bridge and there is plenty of parking. There is also a large area outside for warmer evenings.

I have been to the Shard many times and raved about them. Beautiful service, food and view. No longer is the case.

Ate here for Evening Meal and Food was excellent with a good choice of Menu although Sevice tended to be slow we were not in any hurry.

I popped in for an early evening meal with my partner, not prebooked just a spur of the moment decision. We entered the restaurant and were immediately greeted by both members of staff with welcoming smiles before being offered a choice of tables.

Visited here to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary after holding our Wedding celebrations here 2 years ago. We were promptly show to our table by very friendly and helpful member of staff. I chose the Lamb hotpot which was delicious, the meat melted in the mouth. My husband had the roast beef dinner. The beef was tender and tasty. For desert I had the Lemon curd and Ginger spotted dick which was nice and light. My husband had the Bakwell Tart with local ice cream. The meal was excellent, unhurried and leisurely.The gentleman who took our order was friendly and efficient. I would recommend a visit if you are in the area.

Went here for Mum's Birthday meal and was very impressed. 4 of us had lunch and we loved the setting and the views. The staff were lovely and helpful whilst being professional. The menu had lots of choices and we all had a fabulous meal. Very delicious food. Fish pie was gorgeous and Hubby raved about his Farmer's Platter. F in L had the curry which he loved. Only walking past, stopped for a coffee time seamed to fly another Irish coffee which lead to alcohol drinks 2 bottles of wine sat outside in the sun perfect afternoon. service was ok drinks chilled enjoyable day.

Excellent starters and mains, however the memorable part being the dessert .... rice pudding with white chocolate, served with cream and strawberry compot/jam. Absolutely epic. Hope it's on the menu next time we visit, though might pre-order when booking a table

Went for an early evening meal Starters were nice.. The Sunday Roast Beef was delicious & the beef was nice & tender & melted in your mouth.. Only thing I didn't like was the veg choice.. just a personal thing for me. Rice pudding was creamy & delicious. Nice decor & staff friendly. We will return & we hope they have some Sunday Roast dinners left as we got the last two this time...

This was mine and my partners second visit together to the Shard ! The owner was really attentive as always and the food amazing! I had the fillet steak and was cooked to absolute perfection ( which I am very fussy about) The dessert (sticky toffee pudding) was out of this world and homemade quality ! Great peaceful location and will be back very soon and hoping to bring friends along for lunch as well ! Nice to find an independently owned restaurant of this quality so local ! Service excellent all round

We have been a couple of times and booking recommended. A great menu...varied and focusing on local produce. A few veggie options and good wine list..expect to spend 40 to 50 pounds.

I visited this restaurant last Friday. As soon as our party of three arrived alarms bells were ringing (how I wish we had listened to them and left immediately). The waiter practically ignored us while he made small talk to what were obviously regulars. We did eventually get menus and ordered. One of the starters was prawn and avocado - it was a good game hunt the prawns, hunt the avocado. Then it got worse. Two of our party ordered haddock and chips - big mistake! The fish (not sure it was haddock) was tasteless, there was a child's portion of chips and none of the home made tartar sauce that was advertised on the menu. When we complained we were offered free desserts as compensation. Not being greedy, we only ordered basic ice cream. When I went to pay I was astonished that only two of the ice creams were complimentary. At £83.50 I feel ripped off, but what was more disappointing was that this was a special occasion completely ruined by indifferent service and very poor food..

Disappointed to see that only Mother's Day special table d'hote menu on offer, that plus full menu would've been better as a very narrow menu on offer, lack of gluten free options. The food we had though was very nice, tasty and good portions. I can imagine in summer with the sun beating into the glass front facing the river and only two opening windows that it will be baking in there. Be nice if all those front windows facing the river opened up in those rare summer hot sunny days. All in all though we will try again on a day where the normal local menu is on offer.

Visited today as group of four, we arrived early and were welcomed in to have a drink before being seated. It was easy to find, had it's own small car park (on a slight slope) and was easily accessible for disabled users. We were shown to our table and given a special mothers day menu, the table settings were beautiful with fresh flowers which was a nice touch. The staff were attentive, the food arrived quickly and piping hot. All the food was mouthwateringly delicious, we had three courses and were not disappointed. It was really well priced and couldn't believe it wasn't more when we got the bill. I will definitely be visiting again and would recommend it to others.

After a poor experience 6 months ago we really enjoyed eating here this evening. Even at 6.30pm very busy but all staff welcoming and efficient...nice table in the window, good beers and wine with excellent food. Our faith is restored and we will visit again.

Great Service, the food was amazing, they even catered for a very fussy eater at short notice. Lucky to have visited on a beautiful day we could enjoy the amazing views. Will be back soon - Thank you.
