Ate yesterday , my tummy still hurts and I don't think they served me fresh food.

Very nice food to share. Beautiful view, very spacious and a good place if you travel with a group. Kind waiters who can give advice and tips for the food. Thank you 🙏🏼

terrible. i cannot believe i spent money on this!!!!!! i ordered butter chicken expecting at LEAST decent chicken, NO. I got rotten chicken! Moreover, the sauce was basically curry. without the spice. My INDIAN friend ordered chana masala expecting good chickpeas and a spicy sauce. Instead, she got bad quality chick peas along with potatoes, peas and carrots coated with a sugar syrup. the salt was NOT present. the spices were NOT present. happiness was not present and neither was satisfaction.

The manager was utterly rude, disrespectful and racist. We very politely asked if we could bring our own bottle of wine, he not only said ‘no’ - he said go and dine somewhere else. The manager was unprofessionally dressed with zero ethics and efforts to make customers feel welcomed. Save your time, efforts and money and try cute Indian restaurants or cafés in Inverness where staff is more welcoming. Mumbai Thistle is one of the restaurants you can enjoy.

Such a disappointment this restaurant! We came with my husband yesterday ( 28 December 2023) to have a meal. The place itself is tired, lack of taste, smelly. The food wasn’t great, not fresh, just warmed up in the microwave.Poor presentation of food, the waiter just dropped the food on our table. Staff attitude was the worst ever I saw in my life! Rude, no smiling and we had an impression that we are being ignored. At some point the rude waiter ( after collecting the plates) , came to our table and start cleaning up, spraying bloody dettol cleaning spray, spreading the chemical on our drinks, clothes and phones, without asking we maybe want a dessert before he starts his stupid action! What is more I had a feeling the attitude of the staff is racist. Such a bad place ! Please if you plan to eat something in Inverness, don’t come there, mc Donald or sandwich from Tesco would be hell better choice that this awful and creepy “restaurant “!

Lamb Vindaloo was incredible! Good level of spice and amazing flovour. The waiter even brought me some extra spicy sauce to try because I said it could have a little extra heat. Really worth a try as I believe they should have at least a 4.5 average, but for me, they get 5 star!!

One of the worst restaurant I have ever been in my life. Shapla Restaurant in Inverness was a disappointing experience. The food lacked flavor and freshness, the service was slow and inattentive, and the overall atmosphere was uninviting. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone seeking a satisfying dining experience. Staff behaviour was worst and was kind of rasist. We were asked to seat in corner even though the whole restaurant was empty. No was attending to us and the food was pathetic. I am sharing this experience from visit to Inverness during August 2021.

You get the best view from the restaurant but not the food and service. Failed management on Christmas day!!!

Waste of money, staffs are very rude. When you dine in here staffs attitude is like they are giving you food as a charity. Indian Food quality is very bad. I ordered biryani and they gave me yellow rice with veg curry. I asked for Raita and they gave me simple curd. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE.

On a business trip in Inverness and went past Shapla, so thought let's give it a try. Was pleasantly surprised with the food and service was very good. Lamb Jalfrezi was brilliant with the steamed soft lamb. The Chicken Butter Curry was nice, smooth and very tasty. Basmati Pilau rice was nice and soft but the Garlic Nan was ok, nothing special. The owner was very hospitable, came and spoke to us and made us feel very welcome. Will visit again next time we're in Inverness.

Amazing, delicious food. I had the Chicken Tikka Masala and my partner had the Garlic Chilli Chicken, and both were really good. Friendly staff.

Got a takeaway tonight from the Shapla in Inverness. Collected it at the reataurant and took it to our hotel. A tandoori mixed grill with fried rice and naan bread. We could hardly chew the food as it was so tough. The fried rice was full of onions and the "curry' sauce was a "vegetable curry sauce" which was disgusting! Just a pile of veg in some sort of gravy, certainly NOT a curry sauce. All in all a terrible meal! Went into the bin! A waste of £20!!

Good food. It was 15 of us who just turned up unannounced and they accommodated us well. Good food and the service was great too.

Opens untill 11pm but wont accept an order on deliveroo at 10:05pm? Maybe change your opening hours or just shut conpletaly coz whats the point of that or get off the delivery apps simple, wasted 30 minutes to have the order canceled at 10:30 almost half hr after ordering. 😡😡😡 If its a problem to cook food so late just close at 8 and stop wasting peoples time 😡

Not been here for 24 years ( almost to the day) and the taste and quality was as equally good as we can remember. The staff are friendly, views so pretty with sparkling lights over the water at night. Little booths to eat in with the view so feels romantic and private whilst being in a busy restaurant. Recommend the lamb kadhi .

Best seats in Inverness right here. This place is vastly overlooked by the masses. Overall we had a great dinner at a good price point.

In Inverness for a few nights, fancied a pizza, didn’t fancy Pizza Express, Bella Italia was 30m+ wait due to staff shortages, Zizzi was expecting a group - so we went across the road to the Mediterranean restaurant below Shapla Indian. We weren’t disappointed! Pizza was excellent, lasagne very tasty, service and hospitality great. So we decided to try Shapla the following night - and again, we weren’t disappointed! Chicken Tikka Shaslick and CT Balti both superb and again, great service! A double recommendation and both places that we will revisit. Thanks to the owner, both restaurant managers and all the staff for your hospitality over to great evenings!

Disgusting from service to the food started with chicken puri bland and cold followed by chicken tikka patia with a garlic nan the bread was like cardboard and completely tasteless left 90% of my meal couldn’t eat it spoke to management he just shrugged his shoulders and walked away wouldn’t go near this place again I write honest reviews believe me STAY AWAY

Food is fine. Service staff is not good. Took more than an hour for food preparation and said it's expected. Staffs should be taught a little manner on how to talk.

Good place to eat and food is not bad. The waiter who was serving us was acting like he was drunk, avoid this place if possible, or keep it last in your preference list.

We love this restaurant, our return trip was even better than last time, loving the new decoration. We are Brummies and know our curries! We took our friends for a special meal during a visit to the City, swift courteous service, fab food, the Biriyani I had was full of tender lamb and the vegetable curry on the side was truly excellent, we all agreed it was a very enjoyable meal and the view from the restaurant along the river Ness is truly beautiful.

Good old fashioned curry house in a good way. Nice booths overlooking the river ness. Decor bit tired but food was very tasty and good value. Service was efficient and would return.

We visited this place back in July. Where do I even begin? The food was okay but the service was bad. The staff could not even communicate and they could not even understand a thing we asked. And we’re Indians! The food came and we ate and it was alright. When we got our bill we saw some other guests arguing with the owner about being charged extra so we decided to check our bill as well. And of course we got charged extra very very sneakily. No way it was a mistake. The items were correct and named fine but in the price section had another but written in small handwriting squeezed between the other prices. All their bills are handwritten so they do whatever they want. I assume they do this to everybody so make sure you check your bill.

Ordered a £62 takeaway and it was accepted at 17:31, estimated delivery time of 18:20 to a caravan park 2.8 miles away. At 19:03 we got a call to say that the site was actually 14 miles away and it was on its way. We rang back to say actually, the restaurant is 2.8 miles from the site. At 19:30 we rang again and the driver didn’t know where the site was. The food finally arrived at 20:16 and food was cold. The driver said he only picked the food up 10 minutes ago. And the restaurant said it had been out for delivery for over an hour. If the food was a £20 order, I wouldn’t be bothered. But a £62 and the restaurant not being bothered about the food being cold is out of order.

Ordered a takeaway for the second year in a row (N500). First yea don’t a problem. This year, ordered at 17:31, ordered was estimated to be delivered at 18:20 (we are staying 2.8 miles away) At 19:05 the restaurant rang to say we were 14 miles away but it was on its way. We rang back to say actually we are 2.8 miles away. At 19:30 the restaurant rang to say it was on its way. Food still not arrived by 20:10. If this was a £20 order I wouldn’t leave a review. But it was a £62 takeaway order for four people visiting the area.

Been using this restaurant since we moved to Scotland in 2006 and we have NEVER had a bad meal here and its got a lovely view as well

Food was rather okay. It took an amazing lot of time to arrive at our tables, to.the point we began to regret our decision. Inside the restaurant it felt stuffy and something making us sneeze almost immediately. The person taking our order had no suggestions as he was only a part time worker as mentioned by him. So,.that was our first interaction. The shesh kebabs were dry to begin feeling like wood. Perhaps the first restaurant that did not ask for water. They say this is Indian but it does not feel like Indian Cuisine, but one won't know until you have tasted. We were the only ones in the restaurant. To sum it up, it was not the money's worth

Worst place for food! Very expensive and dirty

Good location. Very poor service. The management of the restaurant is totally insensitive to clients. Whether it is take away or in restaurant dining be prepared to wait for an hour for your order. They have less staff and the food quality is average.

As an Indian who eats and enjoys Indian food a lot and knows what authentic desi food should taste like I would give full marks to the naans and don’t have anything to complain about the overall food or service. Chicken jalfrezi is spicy but good spicy suited for Indian palette.

I ordered Korma, Tarka dhal, Egg fried rice and black tea. It is was interesting experience. The little food table they put on my table was dirty. You can see it in the photo. The waiter (or it is was owner), had rather long uncut fingernails. It looked very disgusting. Prices was high.

The food was the worst I have had in whole of Scotland. The biryani tasted like tomato rice and it was reheated and served and was not served fresh. The tandoori chicken so much of food colouring and should be avoided, it was burnt as well. The restaurant was not even willing to take our feedback. Honestly avoid this place, they are cheating in the name of Indian food.

Worst indian food, bad service and pathetic behavior by the manager

View from the restaurant first floor is only good thing about this restaurant, the food was really bad, the paneer was just vegetables with oil, the nans and parathas were so thick that no one cud eat more than 2 bites and we end up wasting the food which we hate to do.

04/26 @ 1900 What a mistake this place was and all the negative reviews are warranted. Starters were oily and cold. Main was tasteless and only 4 peices of meat in the whole bowl of curry. The waiter dropped a full beer on me with very little in the way of an apology, I was out of clean clothes so had to buy something to wear. Do yourself a favour and try literally any other restaurant.

Very decent place to have Indian if you are tired of eating breads and fries. Especially the Dal Tadka and steam rice is soulful.

It seemed like this is a tourist special restaurant - meaning they believe tourists will definitely come for once due to it's prime location in the city and won't ever repeat again and hence there's no question of maintaining quality. Food was of a poor quality and service was pathetic as the owner seemed to have no basic knowledge of how to treat customer requests.

Ate here recently and everything was fantastic. Firstly the restaurant was lovely and warm. Service very attentive, plates were heated and the meal was superb. Great value. Waiting staff very friendly. Could not fault anything and will be returning soon.

Just tried to place an order for delivery… and was told to go elsewhere after I informed the guy that the price he was charging didn’t make sense an order went from £20 to £28 just on the delivery charge yet the price online is including delivery would of been £24… had a horrible experience the first time and thought I’d give them benefit of doubt but a business this shockingly run to tell a customer to order elsewhere after querying something is ridiculous… absolutely appalling service… the 1 guy who “managers” this is rude and obnoxious… deserves to be fired. If negative stars was a possibility this would receive the highest negative mark.

Highly Recommend, in the past year We have drove from Arbroath to Inverness 3 times with the intent of Eating at Shapla, and all times it never disappoints

Waiters very attentive, food very nice and a great view from the window seats, Hamdin looked after us very well.

Day trip to Inverness and decided to visit Shapla for early dinner. Each time we come here we try and eat at this restaurant . Service excellent ( thank you Hamdin) . Owner also charming and polite. Food excellent and we recommend it to all. Fabulous location to watch the world go by as you eat.

Staff were great and food is amazing. Will visit agian and again. Waiter Hamdin was particularly attentive and helpful.

It was my first time visiting this city, and I cannot begin to describe how disappointing the service was. To start with, the restaurant atmosphere was not that great, and the man taking our order was on a call and trying to talk on both ends, which was very unprofessional. When they were confronted about it, they did not have the decency to apologize, and while placing an order, we asked for one thing, and we were served something else, which was disappointing.overall they do not know how to treat their customers and they are very rude.

Horrible experience. We ordered vegetable pakora and a vegetable parantha. The parantha wasn't vegetable, it was plain. Additionally it wasn't freshly made when i clearly asked him before ordering if the paranthas are fresh. When I confronted the waiter he didn't have a resolution and continued to charge me for what I did not eat. I would really encourage people to avoid this restaraunt, save your money and don't get ripped off with non authentic terrible food.

Went here on my own on Saturday night about 9.00 for a chilled meal after loosing my dad. Very expensive cup of tea nearly £4.00 and not in a pot, rest of food was poor and badly presented and I just felt like they wanted to pack up and asked me several times if I had finished, when obviously, due to position of myknife and folk, I hadn’t. Unfriendly staff and what a shame as it is really quite a lovely restaurant with traditional atmosphere and lovely views. They are probably catering for end of night customers after pub which obviously was not happening! Very disappointing and expensive!

Shapla has been in Inverness for 2 decades that I remember. So it's stood the test of time. That in itself means it is reputable. I love the situation overlooking the river and the old hotels. The food is ok. This time I tried a Meatha curry my friend had butter chicken. I did like the naan.
