The worst restaurant i’ve ever been in the entire UK, manager was so rude and was racist. Food tastes so bad and the portion size is not even enough for one person. The food is served in bowls less than the size of the palm.

I wish I could give zero stars to this place. The owner/manager (the man with long hair) was extremely rude from the moment we stepped into the café. Instead of welcoming us, he gave a frustrated, unpleasant facial expression—as if our presence annoyed him. When we tried to order, he forced us to order two main dishes, instead of one main and one side even though one of us wasn’t feeling hungry. And when we politely asked what was in the tikka curry, he snapped at us to “read the menu” instead of offering a simple explanation. We felt so uncomfortable with that rude and harsh tone. A few other people in the café were also complaining about his rude behaviour and the bad taste of the food, which clearly isn’t a one-time issue, so we decided to walk away without ordering anything. This person clearly lacks even the basics of hospitality. No manners, no courtesy, no sense of how to treat guests. Back at our hotel, we checked the reviews—and sadly, many others had the same experience: rude, unprofessional behavior from this man and terrible food quality. Avoid this place at all costs. There are far better options nearby where you’ll be treated with respect and served proper food.

Worst Indian food experience I have ever had. Tikka masala tastes like tomato soup , have they heard of garlic and spices ? Naan was like pizza dough. Very small portions.

I don’t know what all of the bad reviews are about! My husband and myself had a great experience for dinner. There were two men working who served us efficiently. The only issue we had was flagging someone down when we were ready to order. We ordered the veggie samosa, chicken tikka masala, lamb tikka masala, and garlic naan. All of the portions were PLENTY for one person. We split one garlic naan and it was perfect. Everything was hot and delicious. Would definitely recommend this place.

Waste of money.. First of all the service was very poor and the guy was too rude to us. We ordered chicken tikka biriyani, fried rice, paneer, prawns and naan with butter chicken. The biriyani was like a plain rice with no flavours, chicken tikka even didn’t have the flavour and wasn’t cooked well. The paneer was like a peas curry with some paneer pieces, butter chicken not at all likely to be of its taste… the prawns were smelling… We complained about the food to them and they replied that everyone eats the same food and why only you have the problem… so rude and I give 0 as the review or a negative. Not at all recommended…

Really bad food literally worst Indian food in the world please never go here for Indian food We ordered chapati he gave us Aldi whole wheat tortilla And please making Sabji in tomato paste and adding vinegar to it is just sad... Lastly there is a reason why this place is open during afternoon when every other Indian place is closed says a lot... Visited Fort William for the first time, excited to explore and enjoy the local food. Sadly, our experience at this restaurant was ruined by the poor service. Left with a heavy heart and an even heavier, sad stomach. Not the welcome we were hoping for.

We had a very bad experience at the Cafe Mango today afternoon. The waiter lad was super rude with us. His intimidating attitude brought a negative aura within the restaurant. We were a group of 9 and asked if we could be placed together which he declined even though it could have been made possible. Not only where the service was poor but the quantity of food. I have never had small food portions of this size before with the price they are charging. We even thought about leaving the restaurant after placing the order but we didn't because that would be a poor lack of character from our side. I don't know if the restaurant management will go through this review and consider certain things to improve their business but if they are please do.

The manager was extremely rude and as soon as we walked in had a hostile attitude towards us. We ordered anyway but was extremely disappointed with the quality of the food. Don't recommend! Don't recommend here.

Somewhat shocked by the many one-star reviews on here that are suspiciously similarly worded. Food was excellent. Chili & garlic curry in particular was really superb. Service was not rude. In fact very attentive and friendly and happily ordered a taxi for us when we'd finished. No one asked us to order more. Nothing tastes like it came from frozen. Nothing was cold, crumbly or bland. Quite the opposite. Portions were good and prices reasonable - or do you expect takeaway prices when you eat in? Have to say it looks like a vendetta on here. How pathetic.

I wish I had read the other reviews on this place before visiting. If I had, would've totally avoided coming here. Ordered Thai noodles and found that the chicken had a weird smell and taste, most likely due to being unfresh. My husband ordered a chicken curry dish and had the same complaint about the chicken. Overall service was mediocre at best, and I wouldn't recommend coming here.

I wish I could give 0 stars, went and sat down ordered to have big lunch but ended up taking away prawns biryani which was okay. But the customer service was super rude, had to cancel the rest of the order and took one portion take away. The person got offended when asked about the size of Naan and gave super rude answer. Stopped here on a quiet day in Fort William on Wednesday March 12th while traveling. Had one of the best chicken green curry ever. Garlic naan was delicious too. Staff was friendly and fast. Highly recommended.

We visited Café Mango in Fort William, and it was a complete disappointment. The restaurant was freezing—I had to keep my jacket on just to stay warm. Not exactly the cosy atmosphere you'd expect. They don’t serve alcohol, which is fine, but if you bring your own, they charge £3.50 per person just to drink it. Pretty steep for simply providing a glass. The food was basic and seriously overpriced. The chicken was rock hard—I could hear the microwave pinging in the kitchen, so it was clearly reheated. The worst part? £5 for just THREE tiny pieces of veg pakora—what a rip-off. The total bill came to £47 for: A korma Tarka daal One rice One chapatti One small naan Three tiny pieces of veg pakora Two half-pint glasses of Coke Zero For that price, I expected something fresh and decent, but instead, I got microwaved food and laughably small portions. The place was completely empty, and now I know why. Never again.

DO NOT GO HERE. The owner/ manager was very rude. As soon as we entered, there was no one to greet us and instead of welcoming us, he said “you left the door open” (the door wouldn’t close). He was a grim, rude and unpleasant man. Also refused to serve us water as the establishment “doesn’t have tap water” and said he’d only give us a bottle, which I’ve never heard of before. Please do not go here. Save your money.

Me and my husband went there on 23/12/2024. When we sat on chair, the owner said to move. The shop was empty at that time and we moved without any complaint. Soon i asked the owner how long will take to get my order, he said order first and we will notify you. He was very rude from the first time onwards. Not even offered tissue or cutlery with the food. We ordered Chicken tikka Biriyani costs £ 13.95. Which was very less in quantity and only few pieces of chicken was there with rice. No pickle or raitha or anything were other restaurants offered with lesser price. ……..We bought cake from Nevis bakery nearby to fill my appetite . ……… If you want to eat something good and you want to save money go to some other shops nearby. I wont recommend this shop to eat Indian food.

Absolutely the worst experience of my life! If you’re thinking about visiting Cafe Mango, don’t. The staff is unbelievably rude and behaves like they’re doing you a favor by serving you. Customer service? Non-existent. The food? A complete disaster. Everything we ordered was either overcooked, under-seasoned, or downright inedible. It felt like they scooped leftovers from a garbage bin and served them as "meals." To make it worse, when we politely raised concerns about the food, the staff responded with arrogance and hostility instead of fixing the issue. The place was filthy, the atmosphere suffocating, and even the water tasted bad! I wouldn’t wish this experience on my worst enemy. Avoid this place like the plague—it’s a waste of time, money, and your taste buds. If I could give it negative stars, I would.

I would like to express my disappointment with the service and quality of food I received. Firstly, the service was poor. The staff member actually shut the door in my face, which was quite unprofessional. Secondly, we placed an order for 14 chapatis, 2 chicken curries, 2 lamb curries, and 3 egg fried rice for takeout, but unfortunately, we only received 11 chapatis. Lastly, the quality of the curries was subpar. The dishes were excessively oily, the chicken was dry, and the lamb was tough and difficult to chew. Additionally, we were unable to eat the fried rice as it was not up to standard. Based on this experience, I will not be returning. If you do choose to order from this establishment, I would recommend requesting that the food be prepared fresh, with less oil, and ensuring that all items ordered are included in the takeaway bag

I will never recommend this hotel to anyone. The worst Indian restaurant ever in Scotland. I ordered chicken briyani and they ended up bringing chicken tikka biryani and charged me more as well. And also, you pay £14 to get small portion of rice. They served briyani in a soup bowl where you pay £14. Mainly, they will not serve you even a glass of water. I don’t think this is a restaurant. I wouldn’t be able to write a review without giving a star. So even if you are about to starve and die don’t go to this restaurant.

The food quality was extremely disappointing. The dishes were served cold and lacked freshness, with the rice tasting like it was 2-3 days old. The biryani had no flavor at all—plain water would have been more enjoyable. This was, without a doubt, the worst food experience I’ve had in the UK. To make matters worse, the portions were small, and the meal was grossly overpriced. I can’t believe a restaurant could charge so much for such substandard food.

When we first came in, there was only one table occupied. We sat and ordered, then a few more customers came in. We ate and were discussing something when the owner came to start clearing the table. Normally, that's a sign to tell you to leave. If that is not enough, shortly he came with the bill while we were still talking. There were still many tables empty, and no waiting customers. So, why chase us away? As noted by other reviewers, the price is on the high side.

The service was fine, no complaints. There weren’t many people in the restaurant and that should Have been a clue but we were hungry and wanted a takeaway. There is no separate takeaway menu so picked off the restaurant menu. I expected the prices to be different for takeaway but the server charged full sit in prices! We had the chicken pakora (6 small overcooked pieces), plain naan and peshwari naan (both delicious), boiled rice, popadoms (tasty), chicken tikka pasanda (tasted delicious but portion was tiny 10 small pieces of chicken and 3/4 full sauce) and tikka masala (same as the pasanda but sauce was watery ). At home (we are tourists) we get this meal and it costs £32 and could comfortably feed 4 with leftovers from my husband the following day. Here it was £52 and we struggled to feed 2 adults and 2 children. Very disappointing! Over priced!! I guess they get away with it as visitors only need to visit once! Hopefully people read the reviews purchasing…unlike me!!

I would rate 0 if this allowed me, we had 2 paratha and 2 chapathi with a dessert called “paneer masala” with around 1whole bag of colour. The paneer masala dessert comes with free nail colour and rangoli. I have never had such worst food in my entire life And we were served a bowl have chapathi and curry, atleast learn what to serve in what. Waste of money and time.

Reviews of this restaurant don't reflect our experience. The food was excellent - we had haggis pakoras to start which were delicious then a mango korma and a passanda with peshwari naan. I can't fault any of it - really enjoyable and the service we received was great. The only diners to start but then a couple more tables were filled. Would definitely recommend 😊

We visited this place yesterday 31st Aug 2024. We have been to many indian restaurants and this is the worst restaurant of all times. For the price, quality and quantity of the food is pathetic. This restuarant calling itself as a Thai and Indian restaurant is a joke and better they find a different job instead of cheating customers. Given the food was awful we asked for salad, they served us a plate of onions with lemon wedges. For biryani we asked raitha, they gave us a bowl of yogurt with onions sprinkled on top. I wonder if they have been ever to an Indian restaurant or ever tasted indian food.

I would have given 0 star if allowed, went with a bunch of mates, been to many Indian restaurants in Edinburgh but this one tips the list of the worst restaurants I ever been. The order was taken incorrectly 2 times the same evening, ordered full mixed grill they have a normal side, again order a full grill they missed the order. Asked for salad, they gave onion, cucumber. The dishes are priced premium but the portion size are kids menu size. Hated every dish we tried, I wish we had seen other reviews before going. Don't bother with this place, save the money or walk down to other places

I don’t know how they are still in business. we called before hand as it was a last minute plan to make sure they had room for my family because there was 13 of us (4 of us weren’t eating) As soon as we went to the restaurant the waiter had an attitude towards. We asked to move two tables together, he came and shoved them together dropping the menus down and walked off leaving the tables at an awkward angle. While taking our order he said that 2 curries wouldn’t be enough as it’s 1 per portion which we understood. We tried to explain that we ordered 2 biryanis , 2 chicken starters, naan, butter chicken & rice and 3 daals because we all wanted to nibble and have a light lunch. The owner came out and was extremely unpleasant! He even said that 1 dish per person was not a rule, so why did he care what we ordered ? He continued to be rude and also mentioned that he wanted to go on lunch. we decided to leave but as we were still trying to explain he shut the door on us and didn’t let us speak !

Not sure what restaurant the other reviewers went to. This was great food and warm, friendly service. Haggis pakoras were AMAZING and the lamb curries were so good - the lamb so tender. Would come back in a heartbeat!

There’s an absurd rule requiring a minimum of two meals for two people, regardless of whether both are hungry. Service was slow and inattentive, and when we requested tap water, the attitude we received was completely unacceptable. The food was not fresh, extremely oily, and stale, which made it even more unappetizing. The overall cleanliness of the place was also lacking. I would strongly advise against dining here. There are far better options nearby where you will be treated with respect and can enjoy a much more pleasant meal.

Good place for great Thai or Indian food

The people running the restaurant are extremely rude and the food isn’t good. The waiter didn’t even let us use the washroom before we ordered as he feared we would leave and pushed me to order more food telling me incorrect quantities the items would serve…very unprofessional!! No wonder it’s rated so poorly here, I would give it a zero for service if google allowed.

I don't like giving negative reviews but I didn't have a pleasant experience getting a takeaway at Cafe Mango. I ordered very very clearly prawn Thai green curry and corrected the lady when she said chicken? Not chicken,prawn I said. When I opened it there was chicken(not many pieces!)I don't eat chicken so I went back. Anyone can make a mistake but they were surly and insisted I paid the£3 difference . At this point I was getting late for my train and worrying. They made me feel embarrassed. When the food came you didn't get much for the£18,a few prawns and runny bit of veg floating in masses of sauce. Instead of enjoying I felt upset and stressed by my treatment. I've never given a bad review before and it's against my nature but I felt upset by this what should have been a pleasant experience.

The only reason we went to this place is because our kids wanted to eat Indian. They force you to order 2 curries when we don't want to and when you ask why he says it's either 2 curries or he won't serve us at all. WORST PLACE EVER TO GO. I can't stress it enough. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE. And dont even get me started on the portion size. You can look at the portion size but dont plan on eating coz it won't be enough anyway.

The owner came in and told us that we must order 2 main dishes otherwise he wouldn't take the order. We also ordered plain papad. There was an option for chutneys for 3.20 but we didn't want it. He asked if we don't want chutneys. The portion sizes are so small for the money. Absolute waste of money and the rude owner does not make it any better. We had only regrets eating here.
