I was initially hesitant due to the negative reviews, but I decided to give it a try. My family and I visited the restaurant, and we truly enjoyed the food. The staff was also very kind to us. We liked it so much that we ordered several times during our visit, and even returned the next day to find the food even better. This experience made me realize that reviews might not always reflect the true quality, as we don't know the motivations behind them. I spoke with the owner about the poor reviews, and it was disheartening to hear his side of the story.

Excellent Thai and Indian cuisine, but without a table reservation in a hurry, most of the nearby restaurants refused to serve them. They were the only ones who could warmly entertain every guest who came. I was really surprised.

Conveniently located but that’s all this place has going for it. As you enter, you are not greeted or given and feeling of welcoming. Food portions are TINY and prices are very high. I think they are doing this purposely as they do not receive many customers so they try to squeeze the most they can out of the ones who make a mistake and stop in.

Ordered a takeaway whilst passing through fort William,I got x4 starters at a cost of £26 and the portions were absolutely tiny(x4 small pieces of veg pakora for almost £7 in a small tinfoil tray!) It was laughable! This place is cheating its customers and the food was really poor aswell,worst so called Indian food I’ve ever had.

One of the most abysmal experiences I've endured in the last two decades here in the UK. The customer service was utterly atrocious, devoid of any semblance of respect. Upon our arrival, the attendant's disdainful reaction made it abundantly clear that our presence was unwelcome. Contrastingly, another individual entered and was greeted cordially and respectfully. To make matters worse, our elderly parents were subjected to shouting. Adding insult to injury, we were condescendingly instructed on how to order and what to order, devoid of any semblance of politeness. I made it explicitly clear that such discriminatory treatment based on our appearance is intolerable; we are all equal and deserving of fair treatment. Without so much as touching our beverages, we promptly vacated the premises, albeit having settled the bill. I implore others to vehemently reject and denounce such reprehensible behaviour within our communities, towns, cities, and country. Such conduct flagrantly violates the law and must not be tolerated.

Cafe Mango offers a regrettable experience. Staff are unwelcoming, portions are tiny, and prices are exorbitant. The food lacks flavor, making the expense hard to justify. Best to dine elsewhere for better value and taste.

Completely disgusting! Avoid this Cafe at All Costs First and foremost, the staff couldn't have been more unwelcoming if they tried. From the moment I walked in, it was as though I was an inconvenience to their day. A smile? Forget about it. Customer service clearly isn't a priority here. Let's talk about the prices. I've dined at some of the best Indian restaurants in the UK, and yet somehow, this cafe manages to surpass them in terms of expense. It's highway robbery, plain and simple. Now, onto the portions. If you enjoy leaving a meal feeling like you've barely grazed your appetite, then this is the place for you. The portions are so minuscule that even a bird would leave hungry. And finally, let's discuss the food itself. Tasteless is an understatement. I've had more flavor in a glass of water.

Cafe Mango Restaurant was an absolute disaster! From the moment I stepped in, there was zero welcome or professionalism. The dishes and spoons were disgustingly dirty, and don't even get me started on the tables! To top it off, they had the audacity to bring out rice before chapati, completely ruining the dining experience. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this place like the plague. Seriously, I'd rather starve than ever set foot in there again. And don't even get me started on the prices—they charge like a fancy 5-star joint but deliver food that tastes worse than a 1-star. Stay away at all costs!

Terrible food wouldn’t recommend as the meat was as old as fort William

Extremely poor taste, hella expensive. The food was cold. It felt like it was made yesterday and was prepared by little to no experienced chef. We ordered 3 dishes and could not finish even 1 of them. Initially, they brought the wrong dish when confronted they didn't even say anything, just replaced the dish. That shows their level of service. They are just charging for a shop on the high street and cashing out being one of the few halal options. If you want to save money and not waste on poor quality food please don't go here. Instead, you can find a lot of good vegetarian options nearby. There is no option for a 0-star rating. In fact, they don't even deserve 0 star.

Service is very awful. We asked for baby chair for my 2year old guy said your child is too big for the chair. Then we asked them for warm water for kid,they said we don't have warm water. We asked them for food recommendations and the guy said it's up to you what you like. Food was not as expected. Food portion is small and chairs were dirty .

this cafe survives from tourists stopping by Fort William for a break. the waiter is especially rude, lots of yelling, sigh-ing, rough handling of our plates. I ordered 1 dish to share with my wife because honestly we weren’t as hungry. he snapped saying “its not enough”, which I thought it was rude enough. i declined and stood my ground. overheard him serving the other table annoyed & rudely as they ordered starters only. he probably wants to get the most money out of the limited customers. the food? more to mediocre. people would turn a blind eye to the service if the food was excellent. spent £26 for 2 of us. if youre looking for halal, youre better off eating vegetarian at another cafe.

Disappointing Dining Experience I recently visited cafe mango with high expectations, but sadly, it fell short of the mark. The service was sluggish, and the staff seemed indifferent to our presence. The menu promised a variety of flavors, but the dishes lacked creativity and tasted bland. To make matters worse, the portions were meager for the prices charged. Overall, I left feeling unsatisfied and unlikely to return also management was rude.

The food was horrible. The thai green curry was bland and just tasted like coconut milk. Waiter was rude and did not even want to serve tap water. Super overpriced as well. Paid a total of £38 for 2 nasty meals that could be worth less than £10. Meals from sainsbury would taste better than this.

All my indian brother and sisters Dont ever go to this place and Waste tour money its not indian food and person who is handling this place have no idea what is he doing.

One star coz I can give anything less than that. Poor service. Bad food. Don’t even have tap water. Bad portion suggestion. Dirty toilet. Firstly, waiter was impolite with customers. At least, they didn’t provide a tap of water and we have decided to not order a drink. We have ordered a 3 chicken biryani and 1 vegetable biryani among them didn’t serve a curry sauce and basic things of salad. But, I observed that food was very good. But the way of the treating was very good.

Restaurant owner is not good person, his attitude to very bad, not even providing water glass and plate. Food quality is also very less as well as price is also high, not providing tasty food, it's not an Asian restaurant. Before coming to this restaurant think about it.

Best curry I've ever had! By far

Thanks to Steve's review, we had dinner at Cafe Mango tonight. I can't understand the poor reviews, great host, really tasty food and it didn't break the bank. We had lamb sheesh kebab, poppadoms, tempura, chicken biryani with medium curry, and garlic naans, serious yum.

Lovely restaurant with a very tempting selection of dishes. Both the Indian dishes we chose were very tasty and well presented. Shame the curries didn't come on a hot plate under the dishes because they went cold before we had completely finished them. We did finish them but would have been even nicer if they had stayed hot. The Garlic naan bread was very nice, both in taste and texture.

Terrible Chairs are all dirty and stained, food was edible -but not nice Wife's Thai king prawns was just a small bunch of normal small prawns My Chicken Madras was sour ... I have never had an Indian curry with lemon in it.. and actual chunk of lemon mixed into the sauce, I almost bit it. Naan looked horrible - but tasted nice, rice was great - things are bad, when the best part of a meal is the plain rice 🤦‍♂️

Keep walking by… It’s a Sunday evening and the place we wanted to go was closing their kitchen early because of the Rugby World Cup. But across the way is this Thai/Indian restaurant (which is it?) that, although unassuming, looks busy and fairly inviting, so we decide to head in and they have a table for us. Great! We’re sat down by a friendly lady and then a man (who doesn’t exactly exude much warmth) comes to take our order. We’ve just done a big hike so we’re pretty thirsty and ask for tap water for the table (as well as other soft drinks) but apparently they don’t serve tap water. Seriously? 🤷🏻‍♂️ Of course we’re offered still water to buy. We opted to share two mains (one “Thai” one Indian) + poppadom, onion bhaji and naan bread. Poppadoms were good with chutney tray, onion bhaji had nice flavour but too small and over fried, peshwari naan probably best thing we ate. Biryani was OK but lacked a lot of flavour and came with, for an extra £1, a very basic, runny and one-dimensional curry sauce (with sad-looking cauliflower swimming in it) that ruins the dish (luckily I made sure to pour it gingerly on one side of my plate!). The dish also came with very small fried chicken chunks rather than the nice larger pieces of proper grilled/tandoori chicken that I’ve had in every other Biryani I’ve ever had. The stir fried chicken noodles on the other hand 😳… the “fresh mixed vegetables” consisted of a one lonely slither of cabbage, the chicken was tough and the overall quality/taste just wasn’t right. For £14 - and from a Thai restaurant - you’d expect a decent dish full of flavour but my poor mother in law barely managed half the dish and I regretted trying it myself. Overall a very disappointing meal and I wish we had looked this place up beforehand as we certainly wouldn’t have walked in - and definitely won’t again.

Kann die schlechten Bewertungen nicht nachvollziehen. Wir haben im Café Mango sehr lecker gegessen und der Service war aufmerksam und freundlich. Vielleicht etwas weniger überschwänglich als andere hier aber wir haben uns dort wohl gefühlt und die Wartezeiten waren kürzer als bei manch anderem Lokal in dem wir in Schottland bereits waren. Wir haben uns beide für indische Gerichte entschieden und waren sehr zufrieden. Vor allem für Veganer gibt es hier vermutlich die größte Auswahl und die besten Möglichkeiten. Bisher waren die veganen Gerichte in Fort William eher vom Typ „damit was veganes auf der Karte steht“, aber kein geschmackliches Erlebnis. Im Café Mango kommt man auf jeden Fall auf seine Kosten! Was uns erst aufgefallen ist, als wir dort waren: es gibt auf der Karte keinen Wein und kein Bier, man darf sich aber gegen Korkgeld selbst etwas mitbringen.

Nice enough food but very overpriced for what was provided. Charged £2 a head for corkage and £1 for sauce for the tikka. Food generous size, we shared 2 dishes between the 3 of us. The lamb tikka was heavy on onions and light on with other vegetables. I'm not sure that I will be going back.

Aber ich versuche mal etwas Licht in diese sehr unterschiedlichen Bewertungen zu bringen. Das Restaurant ist einfach und die Bedienung ist zuvorkommend, aber nicht übertrieben höflich wie man es so oft sieht. Das Restaurant ist ein indisches Restaurant also sollte man auch nur indisch essen. Alles andere könnte ein Reinfall sein. Da ich gerade erst vor zwei Wochen aus Indien zurückgekommen bin kann ich jedoch bestätigen das es hier sehr gutes und authentisches indisches Essen gibt. Das Ambiente ist okay, genau so wie der Preis. Also klare und ehrliche vier Sterne.

Food tastes good. BUT these portion sizes are a joke. The starter, golden treasure, would be fitting for one person, not two. And it is ridiculous that this costs nearly 13 pounds. 3.5 pounds for a small bowl of rice. Iam talking a cereal bowl sized rice bowl. Cant recommend this place.

Average food and a bit overpriced. But being about the only restaurant in Fort William where you can order food after 8.30 PM I could live with the these downsides. It's embarrassing that Fort William, the biggest city in the highlands and a central tourist hub, has so little to offer in terms of restaurants with open kitchens after eight.

Absolutely buzzing - great service, great atmosphere and amazing curry. The way they have blended Indian and Thai food is like I’ve just stepped into an episode of The Great a British Menu! The chef is a genius and even received a rousing round of applause from my party. If you go for a curry here and then a night in Roobarb then you’ve hit the jackpot! Order more than you think you need, as the portion is quite small, however, especially the biryani is flavourful and tasty.

The pricing is not honest and seems like the charges are very flexible as per their discretion. The rotis are from packets that are cooked and served. Thai food here will be a terrible choice. Portions are not at par. Should you end up here for whatever reason clarify everything like you would with a 6 year old before you order Would not recommend.

My wife and I ate here to celebrate three major Munro ascents. The food was fantastic, freshly cooked and to a high standard. My wife is vegetarian and her dishes were outstanding, highly recommended!

The place is very nicely decorated, with an extensive menu. There were a lot of veggie choices and the dishes seemed fresh. The staff was very attentive and the place was spotless clean. Must-visit!

We waited half an hour for the food, but it was worth it. The mains were filling and tasty. The popodom was not nice, tasted a bit stale. The naan was very good. They apologised for the delay and had a humble attitude. They also gave us local tips. Overall, the place is very nice, good price.

I visited trip advisor to view best food in Fort William and most places either closed or not taking seating due to Covid, happened to pass this restaurant on way back to hotel and came back at 7 pm for a sit down. Absolutely best Indian/Thai meal we have had for a long time and we eat in the best in Glasgow and Edinburgh, so much so we booked for the following evening for another great meal.....well done Cafe Mango....would highly recommend

The perfect end to a fabulous trip to Fort William. Spent the day rambling in the hills and being 4 tired boys, we needed some top qual scranage. We were not dissapointed. Roll on our next trip to scotland, with Mango Cafe taking front centre in our dinner plans. Good work, Sirs

Despite reading the bad reviews, myself and my Mum decided to give this restaurant a go. We were pleasantly surprised. Warm welcome, great service and the food was authentic. We also overheard a table close to us asking about vegan options and the server was very attentive. We would definitely visit again. The only thing that let you guys down was the cleanliness of the bathroom.

Bad service. Made us order extra food which went wasted in the end. Food tasted Stale!! Not going back here ever!!

Me and my family visited Cafe Mango for lunch. We asked for hot water and the owner / waiter made a face as if we asked him to transfer the ownership of the hotel to me. The food was stale and we had stomach upset after that.Very disappointed!

Went there for lunch. Naan was uncooked. Chicken tasted stale. When we mentioned this to the server, he just smiled and went away. Worst experience ever. Skip this place

Pensamos probar este restaurante ya que fue recomendado por amigos. La deco es muy simple, básica y mínima. El techo alto y las paredes blancas tampoco añaden calor. Sin embargo, a nivel alimentario, mi curry clásico de Balti era muy sabroso con muchas especias añadidas. Mi esposa pidió los fideos tailandeses especiales de mariscos del día, que no estaban disponibles pero aún lo mantienen en el tablero. De todos modos, se decidió por los langostinos Thai Noodle, que encontró que los langostinos estaban demasiado cocidos y que la salsa era demasiado dulce para su gusto.

Después de completar West Highland Way, todos estábamos ansiosos por comer en Fort William. Lamentablemente, terminamos el fin de semana de Ben Nevis y, por lo tanto, no pudimos encontrar nada que no se hubiera reservado previamente, por lo que todos nos sentimos un poco aliviados de encontrar una mesa en este establecimiento. De hecho, incluso fuimos testigos de lo que presumimos que era la gerencia que golpeaba los cubiertos en una mesa que se había quejado. El personal de espera estaba bien, la gerencia requiere capacitación en servicio al cliente. Evitar a toda costa.

Arrived in Fort William around 8pm after long drive from Glasgow, and just wanted to find some reasonable food to eat .Found Cafe Mango a Thai / Indian ?? restaurant .Plenty of spare seats inside so we decided as most other places were full to try our luck. BIG MISTAKE Rude staff - very unappetising food and not cheapBut we learnt our lesson , however hungry you are it pays to check the trip advisor reviews !!!!
