Tourist trap and unprofessional business! I saw the sign that their credit card machine did not work so I said I will come back later and try to go get money from an ATM before eating. They kept insisting that it was going to be okay, they will show me where to withdraw after the meal. I was already quite skeptical, and in case their ATM machine charges a super high fee, I insisted on getting money before eating. After the exchange, they told me it was fine to pay by card if it's over 20 GPB. My partner and I were hungry and it was quite late so we gave in despite the red flag. The food was horrible and overpriced; everything is overly sweet and coconut-y and the curry were separating. I suspect that food has been heated and reheated repeatedly. The waiter insisted on my getting a drink, but I only wanted water. I never got my glass of water. When it was time to pay, the waiter rushed to make us pay in order to prevent other tables from seeing that we were paying card because they obviously told the other table they had to pay cash. Stay away from this place!

I am shocked by the bad reviews (possibly a disgruntled person getting friends to post bad reviews?) I have now had 3 meals here and always the food is very good. This is our regular for events as food is Halal and so all can enjoy. My favourite is the lamb tikla balti garlic. All the dishes have a lot of flavour and I personally recommend the pakora! Best I've had in a while. Are there problems? Yes....it's an old building on Skye....all our buildings have problems. Have the staff been anything other than professional? No, they have always been great. The internet is very limited and affects the card machine from time to time, so just take cash and enjoy! I would recommend this for anyone who wants a nice straightforward meal.

When it came time to ask for the bill, they gave it to us and we practically couldn't understand it, things in English and Indian, in the end they stuck us with 30 or so pounds per head. When we entered the place we were the only costumers there. Our food arrived very quickly, served without manners on our table and we had to ask for spoon, fork and napkin. Too expensive for the quantity of food they serve. We ordered chicken curry and chicken tikka with balti curry. The taste was the same, bland with 6 tiny pieces of chicken breast. 40/50g of rice for £4.95. We went to this restaurant because we were a little tired of eating sandwiches and cold food. As soon as we arrived, we asked for 5 pappadums, since they didn't give us any, and when we asked for a second drink, the boy told us that we hadn't ordered that. Well, anyone can have a misunderstanding, ok. The food arrives and the chicken Tikka masala, it is tomato soup with chicken and the korma, almond sauce. The place looked like an old restaurant with Christmas lights all over the place and full of dust. The vases were fabric flowers FULL of dust. The bottom line is that we ask for the bill and it is a handwritten ticket, with their abbreviations for them, and little understandable for us. He put a sign on the bar saying that his dataphone was "broken", but when he told him that we only had a card, he told us that there was no problem, so when we finished we went to pay, and he secretly took my card to give him the cash to so that the rest of the clients would not find out (but it didn't work 😅). Ah! And he tipped us about £12 for them, making a total of £120 between 5 people, for 7 soft drinks and 5 rice dishes, 2 tikkas and a korma... The service of the employees, well, I have been treated worse in other places, but it is very shameless to want to take money, honestly.

I recently dined at Prince of India, and it was an utter disappointment. Let's break down the catastrophe that unfolded: **Food Quality:** The food was reminiscent of a poorly executed home-cooked meal. The butter chicken tasted like it had been sitting out for hours, and the naan was as tough as leather. It seemed like they had completely forgotten the essence of spices. It was bland, overcooked, and lacking any hint of authenticity. **Presentation:** The presentation was laughable at best. The dishes arrived looking like they had been sloppily thrown together by a toddler experimenting with finger paints. The colors were dull, the plating was non-existent, and the overall aesthetic was repulsive. **Service:** The service was excruciatingly slow. It felt like we were forgotten in a forgotten corner of the restaurant. Our waiter was disinterested, bordering on rude, and seemed to take pleasure in ignoring our requests. It was a baffling display of incompetence. **Hygiene:** The cleanliness of the restaurant left much to be desired. The tables were sticky, the floors were grimy, and the smell emanating from the kitchen was nauseating. It's hard to enjoy a meal when you're constantly worried about contracting a foodborne illness. **Value for Money:** The prices were exorbitant considering the dismal quality of the food and service. It felt like daylight robbery, with Prince of Lie and deceit shamelessly overcharging for subpar fare (£5 for a glass of watered coke!!!). They only accept cash and don’t provide a receipt!! **Overall Experience:** In summary, dining at this place was a regrettable mistake. From the lackluster food to the abysmal service, it was a disaster from start to finish. Save yourself the agony and steer clear of this catastrophe!!

First 3.95 for Coca-Cola but in a glass filled with a 5l bottle without gas, disappointing, they put the bread in first, and since they speak English so quickly they sneak it in without saying that they will charge you, a menu with too many prices descriptions come on, they even charge you to get up. After spending two £10 drinks, you ask for water and they bring you two hot glasses from the tap but that's it, not even a bottle. It usually takes around 15 minutes for the food to come out, which is perfect when going out for food as you get the chance to chat with your partner/family/friends. The service is good, the staff are always very nice and very attentive! They always show genuine interest in how my day has been, and what I have been up to lately. They brighten my day when I go in for food, without a doubt! Lovely people. Atmosphere. Without being dramatic, likely the worst Indian I’ve had…ever. 100% not worth the $. I’d rate a 4/10 at best. Meat was over cooked, food did not come out as it was described on the menu. There’s a charge for EVERYTHING. Prawn cocktail was tiny shrimp smothered in 1000 island dressing. My mom took one bite and didn’t finish. We asked to have it removed from the bill and the balding guy said “No, I can’t…it was already made.” The onion bahji had a mushy texture like they’d been frozen before being cooked. Bottled sparkling water was warm - I had to ask for ice. All around a very poor dining experience. They could do with a little healthy competition to either put them out of business or spark a little evolution in the service and quality of food that they provide, especially in a tourist heavy town. Cash only restaurant? 20 years behind the times, at least.

We wandered around Portree looking for a late lunch 1.30pm only to find most of the hotels were closed to accommodate the buses or won’t serve meals until after 3.00pm. It was crazy the amount of shops shut and only open late. We stumbled onto Price if India down by the water where the coaches were parked and discover this hidden Gem! Wow food was Amazing! Best Indian we have ever had… highly recommend!

Certainly one of the only restaurants open on a Sunday but don’t go there!! Dishes not good at all, no flavors, very tough lambs, small portions, expensive and at the end of all that I was told that the card doesn't work and that I have to pay in cash. Truly a shame!!!

The worst Indian food ever. I ordered butter chicken, rice, naan, popadoms and sauce. The butter chicken looked like it was curtailed They forgot the rice The naan was okay The popadoms tasted like deep fried oil The sauce was supposed to be mint sauce and they gave me some gross orange sauce. I had a few bites to give it a try. It was gross I hope I do not end up with an upset stomach.

The only restaurant that accepts late reservations, we ventured to this establishment. The food is very average or even poor quality, for an exorbitant price. Avoid especially for fans of Indian cuisine because it is massacred. The manager invoices at the customer's expense and does not provide any details.

Ridiculous. The staff was too rude and impolite someone named Hassan or Aisan was serving us. Absolutely shocking behaviour and did not care of our feedback. Do not recommend it to anyone. Rude behaviour the owner should take some action.

Not many options for indian food in Portree, So we ordered takeaway from this place, located in a very shady place, customer service was nice but the food was very bad. It was too much spicy even though we specifically asked to make it mild, Seconfd we requested the dishes a couple of dishes to make without onlion, garlic and Potatoes but they put the onions in Jeera rice, the chapati aswell were frozen and just heated on frypan and lol that too was uncookeda and in last they also missed to give us 2nd portion rice, We should have checked before leaving there. This restaurant called it self authentic indian food but trust me guys its too far from it. So if you are visiting Portree avoid going to this establishment instead try 'Taste of India'...thats pretty much good and only other viable option for indian food around Portree.

The food was just incredible. This place was a very welcome change to the typical affair of the area and definitely stood out as a highlight to the trip.

Really surprised to see negative reviews regarding service and food- we had such a great experience here that we ate here 2 out of our 3 nights in portree. Everything we tried was delicious, the service was super friendly, and the portion sizes were way more than adequate. It also doesn’t hurt that they serve well past other restaurants have closed. We’d recommend this place highly to anyone looking for something warming and crazy flavorful. Edited to add that our high cost per person was mostly due to alcohol… the meals are not expensive.

It’s a Bangladeshi restaurant so don’t go with an expectation of Indian Cusine. Although food was good if you like it a bit mild.

As we entered instead of hello we were greeted with " ONLY CASH PAYMENT ACCEPTED " Waiters are too rude Food is super oily, super!! And then once we ordered he said we need to order for 2 pounds more to meet the min order requirements. Picture attached for the resturants rules.

28 August 2023 2.20pm I had a terrible experience at this Indian restaurant. The waiter displayed no understanding or empathy when my toddler was scared of the lights. Not only were we seated in an inconvenient corner, but the waiter's judgmental comments about my child made the situation even worse. To top it off, he ignored our order and served other guests who arrived after us. The overall service was utterly disappointing and insensitive.
