Shapla Tandoori in Havant

The Food was hot, the sauces were exceptional …thick and packed with flavour….(my son ate all of his and he’s really hard to please) …..the chicken was moist and tender with flavour and our special rice's were all excellent. The portions were large onion bhajis were absolutely huge ……and the peshwari naan to die for. Very pleased with our meal and will be back again to sample more from their menu……. Excellent meal 👍thank you 🙏🏻

Very poor. In the past we have been very pleased with the Shapla but can only assume there has been a change of management.

I had ordered onion bahgias and they where very dry ,my meal was sliced butter chicken it was all oil and butter floating about was horrible so all in all it when in the bin just how it arrived ,not a good experience £20 for the bin awful

I've lost count of how many times we've been here. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. The staff are friendly, we've taken all our family and friends, the food is tasty and great value with a great deal of choice and thats consistently for many years (8+ I reckon). I'm trying to think of a downside and I can't. Even the lack of an alcohol licence is a bonus as you can take your own in. Highly recommended.

Stay away from Havant tandoori. When phoned and complained that the chicken is clearly raw they argued and said that they cook there chicken so it's "pink" 😂🤢

I come here once a month with friends, the food is absolutely delicious! Always fast service, staff are polite and very friendly. Great selection on the menu and very well priced! You can bring your own drinks too. I always recommend this place to others. Takeaways are great too!

We used to eat here all the time but after a few bad meals we stopped, we tried again and it’s just not what it used to be, the onion bajee are far to big so they don’t cook all the way through, curry’s are to oily and the meat is tough. It’s a shame as we used to eat here a lot.

Edit: Me along with my friends dined in here. The owner is cordial and hospitable. We tried shik kebab, mixed kebab, lamb dupiaja, lamb korma, paneer masala, pulao rice, chapati everything was mouth watering. I specially appreciate that they recognised that we were fasting in Ramadan and offered special iftar item(for breaking fast) on the house . It's a family friendly restaurant.The soothing decorations and traditional music gives a good vibe. I took take out. Food was awesome. Authentic deshi taste. They serve halal food. Menu has vegetarian options as well. I took lamb biriyani, duck korma, lamb rogan jos. Quantity was more than enough and taste was perfect. I will recommend this place to everyone.

Great onion barjis good chips and nice bombay potatoes but 6 pieces of undercooked chicken in a chicken tikka masala ruined the whole meal

Terrible service counter staff rude and makes you out as you ordered wrong. Order still wrong on pick up. Korma like jelly overpriced and the worst curry ever eaten. Chips soggy.

Ordered a chicken tikka bhuna with vegetable rice at around 11pm today - Saturday 6th January, 2024, we had a phone call after 5 minutes utes or so after we ordered it for collection via telephone, picked it up and the food was terrible. Not hot - temperature wise, disgustingly greasy throughout, to the point it bled through the packaging and went everywhere whilst serving it up at home, it was bland but extremely salty, the rice was stodgy and extremelygreasy. I can honestly say that it is the worst curry I've ever had. Do not buy from this restaurant or takeaway, they shouldn't be allowed to serve food like this. Not impressed at all.

Decided to try this place as the rating seemed good and reasonable I ordered a lamb biryani with mushrooms, onion bhajees and poppadoms. It was just over 5 to 10 minutes when I had a phone call to say our order was ready, when we got the food home (5 mins journey) it wasn’t hot, poppadoms were stale, there was no taste to the vegetable curry for the biryani the pieces of lamb in the biryani were tasty however the meal itself was not great, it could be because it was just under an hour before they closed however this isn’t great it almost tasted watery and we couldn’t finish our meals they went in the bin. We are paying for the food and a service of Indian cuisine and it shouldn’t taste the way it did tonight there should be plenty of flavours due to this experience I will not be ordering from there again

Probably the best Indian restaurant in the area. The food is great. The honey lamb being a particular favourite. We normally have this delivered or collected. Always hot when received. They do offer sit in, with bring your own booze, however, that is not our preference.

Food well prepared and an extensive menu. Very good value, modest prices and good portions. BYOB is a bonus! The team are helpful, friendly but not intrusive.

Great food. They'll even do you a special not on the menu dish if you ask. 👍 Just remember to buy your booze before going in.

Been my go to curry house for years. Great staff and food, plus you can take your own drinks.

The curry was watered down. The Diet Coke at £3.50 was 6 months out of date. Unacceptable

The taste was nice, should have come with a straw though, very watered down.

My family thoroughly enjoyed every meal had here. All the dishes tried tasted authentic. Fresh and superb value. The family are looking forward to returning soon.

Loved it so much we made a return visit, delicious mouth-watering dishes, sumptuous starters, fresh fluffy naan, biryani like mum’s, dhal was perfect! Great hosts and cosy intimate atmosphere, our favourite spot in Portsmouth by far!🥰

As Bengalis dining in a Bengali restaurant we definitely give it a big thumbs up here..very tasty genuine cuisine, hosted our large family group very well, kids loved it too especially the penguin ice cream! And the price wow!...you won't find better value..and coming from London you'll love it...enjoy!

Disappointing. A very bland tikka jalfrezi, I asked for extra chillies yet there wasn’t even a whole one, sauce was just onion in a bland base.

Great curry, been here a few times now, smells amazing when you walk in the door! Polite staff, great food, bring your own beer.. very reasonably priced, 6 adults, mains, sides and starters £105!! Will be back!

Really gutted by the quality of the Indian received. Following so many positive reviews thought we would try Havant Tandoori but won't be returning. The currys tasted watered down and lacked flavour, the flavoured rice was really bland, the chips were OK but portion size very small. The onion bargis were oily and the bread was firm tasting like it wasn't fresh - it was tough to break into pieces. The food when it arrived was warm but not hot.

They cook special meal's for people not Keen on curries. Khatta Mittah, which is Sweet Sour.

Favourite place to go on a Sunday. Lovely staff and top quality food. Food is really consistent every time I go, my favourite being the Vegetable Pathia.

Usually okay food but was absolutely disgraceful what was delivered to me. A curry which was watered down and disgusting. Tasted like it was reheated twice. Was a puddle of water at the bottom of my bowl. The customer service was just to offer me 10% off my next order even though I've been buying from here for years. Then the manager phones me to tell me it'll be okay next time. No thank you...

So far waited 2 and a half hours for our food that has still not arrived, rang the restaurant after an hour to be told it’ll be 40 minutes, rang again after another 1 hour wait to be told they haven’t even started cooking it and will be another 40 minutes, at this point it’s 21:30 and cannot order food anywhere else. no offer to take any money off the order and man on the phone was very rude, can’t review the food because I never received it.

I love Indian food, I spent some time with my family in Langstone (UK) and ordered a large meal from Shapla in a little town called Havant. The end to end service was good, there was a few issues when calling as I expect they are very busy. However, once the order was placed the speed of the delivery was amazing, the young lady (Bethanie) who was wearing a white long coat delivered our order and walked us through the order making sure everything was as selected. We are Americans, so crazy fussy. Personally I was impressed with the team from this store.

We have used this Indian for years now and have had lovely meals. This time though the prawn dansak wasn't as tasty.there was hardly any prawns and it was just runny juice and not the usual thick lentils. Our chilli chicken masala didn't have no where near the chillies we asked for and lacked chicken and was different texture.

Last night we had a table for 20 , the food was absolutely amazing and everyone all got their food delivered at the same time which was fantastic. We will be returning soon. Thankyou everyone who worked last night .

This is the jewel in the crown in Havant for Indian food, with a personal service and a smile from the owner BASH every time. Good food, delivered quickly. Based on another customer's review, I ordered the Lamb Khatta Mittah with pilau rice and tarka daal, and onion bhaji. The order arrived in around half an hour, delivery guy was polite.The bhaji were crisp and tasty but I really loved the Khatta Mittah, just the right amount of heat and a nice sweetness to it. I'll definitely have that again. If I'm bring picky I'd say the tarka daal was a bit runnier than I'd like, but was also very tasty. Rice was OK, a bit bland, but I guess we all have to cut down on our salt intake, and it was still well cooked. I did have problem logging in to track my order as the site said I had no orders, but then it did arrive in a reasonable time so not that much of a problem.

Ordered online several hours in advance of delivery. Rang when it was 20 minutes late....engaged.....rang again until phone answered at 30 mins late only to be told it was just being boxed up for delivery. 45 mins late delivery was very frustrating, but the meal was very nice and great value for money when it did arrive & as it was still hot, it probably was going out the door when i rang up. Looking at other reviews now, it seems i was lucky in comparison

Ordered food 1hour 15 minutes after being told it would be delivered 45 minutes. Paid cash spoke to a lady as when delivered it was luck warm. Naan 22 degrees, curries 44 degrees. Spoke to man after the lady who said I would get refund. Then phoned back to find out how long it would be for refund. Sopke to a manHe was extremely rude. I spoke to a man who said that I needed to put my curry in a microwave, would not redo , would not offer a refund unless I took in to the shop as it costs them 4.50 to do a return. Disgusting behaviour. Shouting at me on the phone , will neter use again. Out of pocket as I have had to order another curry. They also were rude about all the other Indian in havant saying they were the best. I DO NOT THINK SO. DO NOT USE. COLD FOOD RUDE SERVICE.

I've had some really nice food from Havant Tandoori. I've ate in the building quite a few times before in the past but get takeaways there now. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is warm and friendly. There is normally Indian music playing which adds to the vibe. The tables are set out nicely with fancy napkin patterns (last time I went and dined inside) The food is fab. It comes out in metal bowls and plates. So you can serve yourself or share with others. You can also bring in your own wine to drink. If you are getting a takeaway then it will come in those foil trays with the lid on top. Other items may be in a cardboard bag. All wrapped in a carrier bag for collection. I've had the chicken korma and tikka along with lamb meals before. It is nice and soft the meat. Very tasty. Get it a try, pop in and see what you think.

The food was awful, I couldn’t complete it, I get a stomach pain and I throw it out, it’s not fresh, doesn’t have a taste, the chicken not cooked well and rubbery, the rice was mashy and tasteless, I would strongly recommend anyone not to order from this restaurant.

Very disappointed and total waste of money ..it was inedible full of water and arrived cold I was offered a free curry to replace but to be honest would never order again sorry

Just ordered from Havant Tandoori. Quick delivery so was happy about that. Unfortunately both korma's were very bland, watery and tasteless. The chicken could have been cooked a little longer for me too. Probably not far away from undercooked. The chips were so big and chunky, undercooked and again tasteless. Onion bhajis were nice and the only thing I could taste. Poppadoms were okay aswell. Not sure I could order from here again based on that meal.

Dirt in the top of the room temperature coke cans. Korma sauce is tasteless like actual water. Only thing good that came out of this £35 order was mango chutney. Even the popadoms were horrible.

We ordered by phone for collection and when I returned home there was something missing. I immediately phoned and within 4 minutes the missing item was delivered to us. Great meal too.

We had a menu posted through our door last week so thought we’d give them a try.! Ordered a delivery meal for 3 people and paid by card. Was told it would be 40 minutes eventually it arrived after an hour and 20 minutes. Phoned twice and a very rude man told me to be patient and hung up. I then phoned back and was told by an extremely rude female who, after me asking where it was and expressed how long we had been waiting, was told that they didn’t want customers like me! I was never rude or abusive, just basically asking where my food was and after being told that they had ‘become busy after they took my order’ I questioned why I wasn’t front of the queue?? Anyway food arrived cold and disgusting. Clearly isn’t cooked with fresh sauces - plainly out of jars! Please see pictures attached 🤢

Tonight I had the khatta mittah one of the best curries I have ever had so good thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank You will definitely be ordering from here again 🙂

Very happy with our meal. Meat very tender and tasty. Chips chunky and not those thin ones you normally get. Delivery on time. The only complaint I would have is that they put the popadoms in the bag with the curry so the heat makes them soft and chewy but to be fair, other takeaways do the same instead of keeping them separate.

A great Indian restaurant located near Havant train station. The food was very nice, the service was fast, the staff were helpful and it isn't too expensive. I've visited a few times over the years, and will definitely be returning soon!

Disgusting takeaway! Only thing that was half decent were the store bought popodoms. Dont let the 4 starts deceive you, maybe this place is nice in person, but the take away is dreadful, hency why it arrived in 5 mins!

One star is two much this place was ridiculous I waited 45 minutes longer then what they said for my delivery I was waiting nearly 2 hours for the food once it got hear the chicken in Tikka masala had a robbery texture the rice was cold the chips was basically swimming in grease it’s was terrible would not advice anyone to eat from hear I phone it up to complain there attitude was disgusting

Gave me and my family absolutely shockingly undercooked chicken in my chicken korma when we spoke to the manager he had massive anger issues very rude and inconsiderate he did not offer another mail or any refunds whatsoever everyone please be aware of this inconsiderate Tandoori restaurant apparently represents havant town this really needs looking into and shutting down ASAP I would never ever use this restaurant ever again and highly recommend other people to go outswear this is food hygiene and cleansing this is the main key of success of a food restaurant not stone cold food how ridiculous

Really nice meal. Just the right amount. Subtly flavoured and not overly seasoned with chilli. Great welcome and service as well even with it being a busy Sat evening. It really suits people who like a milder experience, that is not lacking in flavour. Great value for money as far as I am concerned. Will definitely go back there again.

One of the best Indians in the area! We have tried Havant Tandoori eating in as well as takeaway and both are always excellent. The korma and butter chicken is excellent and creamy and the rice is always perfectly cooked. The range of naans are also excellent! A nice touch is you can bring your own drinks if you are eating in the restaurant. All the staff are so friendly and welcoming. We used to go to Chilli & Lime, however, this closed down recently. Although Havant Tandoori has made up for the disappointment! I would really recommend giving Havant Tandoori a go if you haven't already

We always use this takeaway.but this time we were really disappointed 😞 The shami kabab was raw we were unable to eat it. The main courses we not as spicy as we asked for and alot less prawns. This ruined our birthday meal

Ordered on Just eat app! I wouldn't even give 1 star, worst Indian meal I ever had, delivery was late, I had missing and wrong items, Food was Bland and watery, curry sauce watery, mint sauce and mango chutney watery/watered down. Tried to call the restaurant to complain and for 1hour now Phones Engaged.

To start the review the food menu was helpful to understand. Also the delivery wasn't too late as per what they said. The taste of chicken curry was lovely and it was upto the expectations of what I wanted to have it. Value for money 🙌🏼

WHY ARE CHIPS NOT ON THE UBER EATS MENU????? Really nice no pink chicken like everywhere else in the area but the chips are too fat prefer fries but hey ho Thats the only way to make it better everything else is lush.

Went to order food in usual way, phone up & collect but felt totally confused about how to do this now! Menus for JustEat etc but gave up and went elsewhere in end. Maybe need to pick up a menu. Not everyone wants to use delivery apps.

Amazing food , kind staff and all round amazing atmosphere

Ordered the food and not from the usual place, it arrived early thinking this is great. Open mine try it but mild for a dhansak but not the worst I have had certainly not the best. My partner opens hers dishes and tries no I love a hit curry often having a vindaloo this pathea omg it blew my mouth away it was so hot, she couldn't eat it. I phoned up the restaurant explained how hot this curry was and asked them to send a normal one to the house not the one that it appears they split all the curry powder in, they refused and said she would have to order another one or go hungry, what a great way to treat our NHS staff I hope everyone sees this and avoids this restaurant
