Had to wait longer than told for food and was cold when eventually to be honest was all sorted happy when left. Will still go again food was good

My recent dining experience at Shapla was nothing short of disappointing and frankly humiliating. It is evident that this establishment places a higher priority on their takeaway business rather than providing a satisfactory in-house dining experience. Upon arrival, we were ushered to a seemingly good table, which gave us a glimmer of hope for the evening ahead. However, this hope quickly faded as we sat there, seemingly invisible to the restaurant staff. No member of the restaurant team displayed any interest in taking our order or even acknowledging our presence. What made this experience even more exasperating was the sweltering heat of the evening. One would expect that on such a hot day, the staff would, at the very least, check if we required any refreshments. But alas, this basic courtesy was completely absent from our visit. It wasn't until my wife and I decided that we had waited long enough, and it was clear that our presence was of no concern to the staff, that they finally sprang into action. Unfortunately, it was too little, too late. We had already made up our minds to leave the restaurant, our evening ruined by the neglect and indifference we had experienced. I have dined at many establishments in the past, but never have I felt as humiliated and insulted as I did at Shapla. The blatant disregard for our presence and the lack of even the most basic customer service left a lasting negative impression. Under these circumstances, it is safe to say that I will not be returning to Shapla anytime soon.

Hand dinner here as a foursome whilst on holiday in wales. Excellent service and staff food was lovely and overall cost was very good, would not hesitate to return and recommend.

Take away from here was outstanding. Couldn't fault a single thing. The flavour is out of this world. We always have food from here to celebrate anything, with food this good I wish we could just celebrate Saturdays but don't think I could get away with that!

Ordered a takeaway for 4 people, collection time was perfect! Food still super hot when we got home. Great flavours and plenty to choose from. Staff were super friendly

4 days with upset stomach, 2 friends had similar issues. Will never go again or recommend.

Ordered takeaway while on holiday. Absolutely delicious. Lamb tikka masala was something really special & lamb was very tender. Beautiful! & very reasonably priced. Portion sizes were great and all dishes were so fresh.

I took my family here over the Easter weekend. We were all super impressed with the food and we enjoyed our evening there very much. We will definitely be returning.

Joined friends at Shapla on Sunday. I have a digestive problem so can only eat plain food. English steak cooked to my required medium order, nice but was rather thin for a steak. Not served with any horseradish sauce. Overall service very slow so that diners kept ordering extra drinks and very noisy in the restaurant.

Disappointed they had no highchairs,no bottled drinks for children. Food was lovely though. Very busy.

Very nice meal with friends. Can't fault the food, however service was poor. Our poppadoms didn't arrive, but after a reminder to the waiter they came. Drink service was slow, so my husband went to the bar to get a refill. The food was great though!.

Fabulous food, service friendly, a must for curry fans if your in the area.. Called again 17.9.2017...superb, can't fault The Shapla in any way.. 17/2/2023... Not been able to get here for 3years but nothing has changed, still a fabulous meal..

0 star, such a worst biryani, donno how many days ago they cooked it. Cannot chewable dried and dirty chicken without any spices and loads of turmeric in it. no proper heating system in the restaurant, such a worst and expensive experience, not worthy.👎 we haven’t eat anything in it and paid for everything.

I had heard many good things about this Resteraunt. Had a meat dish, was dry and tough so left most of it. I was extremely disappointed.

EXCELLENT our favourite and will always recommend. We have Dansak, korma and selection of starters and pompodom. Everything is going up in price but this is our monthly treat and worth every penny.

Well …. Just had a curry which is normally £28 ish it’s now £36 !!!! Jez that’s inflation for you !! Also thank god the card machine was working , been on the blink since lock down ????? Taxing really 🙄

Excellent cuisine and affordable prices

Delicious food, takeaway 3 dishes, 3 naan and an onion bahji fed three of us two days!

This was incredible. The food was amazing, the staff were lovely and the water inside the place was beautiful. I would 100% recommend.

Very poor experience. Lukewarm food, very small portions, not good value for the money. The staff were very miserable apart from the very young waiter, who was lovely. The rest of the stsff were grumpy and we felt as if they didn't want us there! Terrible customer service! We'd never go again.

We have a romantic candlelit dinner in our motorhome . We Travel 44 miles round trip for a delicious takeaway meal. That says it all!

Found this restaurant on our way back to our caravan after a day out. The food was excellent and the staff were friendly and courteous.

Really good Indian restaurant. Slightly plain decor, other than indoor Koi pond, but clean and tiny. Huge menu, huge portions - too much, really. Very good prices, too. Lots of takeaway collections and busy at 8pm on a Sunday. Staff eating there as well at the end of the evening, always a good sign. Free caberet during our visit from a woman who adamantly said she wasn't drunk when refused more alcohol.

Food was okay but not very flavoursome. Rice and peshwari could have larger portions for price. Most staff friendly. Water features hard though wont lie.

Definatly the worst Indian in Carmarthenshire and cardigan combined. Lamb was rotten and stinking! A inch of oil over the curry and not a dot of flavour or spice in anything. So far from authentic Indian food it's unbelievable!!! Oh also the food hygiene sticker In the window is from 2018 not 2022!

Don't waste your money. Ordered a fairly basic Indian came to around £35, fifty minutes later in an empty restaurant food arrives. Very bland no flovour sitting in mainly oil I'm sure the lamb was off. The worst curry house I've been to.

I would have given it 1 star but the fish in the pool were impressive. Chicken tikka bunha. Poor, when I cut open a piece of chicken tikka I expect to see the red/orange colour has penetrated almost to the middle after a long period marinating. It wasn’t. The red colour was painted on the outside. And to make matters worse it was mechanically reclaimed chicken - tasteless. The plain Nan I ordered was disgusting, I left it after the first mouthful. It was dry and tasted of raw flour. I’ve had better Indian food in Wetherspoons. Avoid

The food was pretty good, I think they tame down the spice level for the majority of dishes so if you prefer it to be more authentically spicy make sure to let that be known. I’ve eaten from here a few times now and would go back again.

Would have given five if staff were more personable. Lacking in the usual pleasantries. 1 boy in particular couldn't stop running his hands through his lanky hair in between playing on his phone. There was no atmosphere as almost empty but lots of takeaways. Food was good (apart from bendy poppadoms) when it finally arrived.

Very poor service..75 mins for food to arrive whilst countless takeaway orders fulfilled. Food finally came which was ok

Food was good but waiting time for a near empty restaurant was unacceptable, 1hr 15mins before our food arrived.

It was OK I guess. Ordered butter chicken which turned out to be a darker looking chicken korma with a nob of butter on top 😂. Maybe they ran out and improvised 🤔. The staff seemed nice enough and portions decent.

Very delicious Indian takeaway. Very busy with customers which is always a good sign.

Never had a bad experience, been ordering takeaway since moving to the area in November, always on time and always very friendly on the phone, looking forward to dining in. First got my first ever vindaloo from them when I was like 10 quality has stayed the same from what I remember. I regularly get a Chicken Vindaloo, Veg rice, portion of samosas and onion Baji. Found a customer for life here. Looking forward to a birthday meal out!

Was a very nice Indian, made us wait a couple minutes more then the arrival time we were told. But that wasn't a problem, food was spot on.

Never again. Ordered food at 6.15 and was told will be ready for collection 7.15. At 7.30 still not ready and was told few more minutes. 5 people waiting inside. I think they have forgotten we are still in lockdown. Asked for a refund This was my first visit after 3 years 3 years ago we booked table for 8 people on New Year’s Eve. We’ve been waiting at the reception for over an hour and finally left. No one even explained or apologised for the whole situation. I thought I’ll give them a try again today but that was a complete waste of time. Complete disregard for safety and customers

Keema with potatoes and Tadka daal lovely. The prawn masala was SWEET, it was awful and ruined the rest of the dishes. Shame !

Due to Covid it was collection only but the takeaway we had was excellent. Was happy with every dish.

Meals normally good but not happy with 2 very small meat Samosas for £2.50 - disgraceful!! Poppodums not great either. Called to complain and was told sorry, that's the way it is!!

Amazing food and service highly recommended

A flying visit to Lampeter means dinner at the Shapla! First ate here 30 years ago, so pleased it's still going strong. We now visit town every few months and always make sure we eat at the Shapla at least once! Tried some different dishes this time, vegetarian main courses with rice and nasns, very tasty.

Came a few months ago and had a wonderful meal, both of us had starter main and pudding and both enjoyed it thoroughly! Would definitely recommend

If your willing to wait 90mins for food, then this is your place, when it did arrive it wasn’t hot, very disappointing, although if you want a takeaway, they seem to prioritise this over everything else.

food is excellent.. But l think you need another chef. as the one in the kitchen must have been off his head with orders tonight..... The restaurant was busy and the takeaway was bloody crazy. Your food is excellent. but don't over stretch your staff. as your customers with bums on seats have to wait.

Waited for over an hour for food to come , they were far too busy doing takeaway meals. When the food eventually came it was just about warm with far too many onions in it. Everyone looked bored of waiting and the staff were miserable. Won't be going back.

Booked a table for 9pm on a Saturday night. Shown straight to table. Menu choices v.good as were the prices. V.good quality food and the service was excellent. Only gripe being was the amount of onions in the chilli Baltimore dish to bulk it out. Ended up with 1/2 karai of onions once picked out. Yes balti's do have more onions than your regular curry but not to the extent that were in the dish. Would recommend tho.

Had a lamb pathia and I must say it was the driest and toughest lamb I have ever eaten. I was asked how was your meal and I explained the lamb issue and suspected it was from a previous night's service.Given apologies and they knocked £1.50 off the bill. The young server girl was the only plus of the dining experience.

Fantastic meal with family. Service seemed a bit slow but the end result was terrific. Son and daughter in law intend travelling the 100 miles again next week with friends

My husband and l visit the Shapla fortnightly. The staff are charming and efficient. The food is top class but l wish l could persuade my hubby to eat something other than chicken Madras with a naan bread but 'no' he has eaten it every visit for the last 4 years!

The restaurant was really really busy so we had to wait quite a while to get our meals but it was definitely worth waiting for. Fabulous freshly cooked food and plenty of it.

Wow....quite simply the best Indian food I’ve had in a very long time and I travel a lot and Curry is my favourite food, we stayed in Lampeter last week whilst working locally and came here Monday and Thursday, all three in our party had different dishes each time and the food was just consistently brilliant and so tasty.So if you are in Lampeter and like Indian food you simply have to try here, great food, great staff, all round great place

Reasonable price with good food.

Good food, really good service, reasonably priced - kids loved the added extra of watching the live fish in the pond! Two of us had a set meal which was ideal. Will definitely return.

I have dined at this restaurant on and off over the last 10 years or so and it has always been consistently good. I have always had delicious tasting food, served efficiently and professionally. They will cater to individual tastes and have a wide range on the menu so plenty to choose from for all kinds of palates. You can often just turn up too with no need to book. They also offer a great take away service.

We ate here twice in the week we were visiting Lampeter - good food both times, the chicken tikka bhuna was especially savoury and tasty. Good service, clean toilets. I first came here 30 years ago as a student, so pleased it's still going strong. A recent refurb has brightened up the interior, nicely done. And did I mention that there's a carp pond, complete with bridge?!

A beautiful meal, very well cooked and presented,, great popper Dom's , lovely onion salad. Fantastic main courses

We came here with friends for a meal out on our holidays the food was absolutely gorgeous!!! Service was a bit slow as we didn't get to order till about 40 minutes after we sat down and Di not offer jugs of water for those who had the spicy curry's, but the staff where hard working and the food was absolutely gorgeous and would love to go here again one day I would reccomend here if you fancy a curry.
