Gulshan in Ceredigion

We are visiting the area and decided to try out Gulshan on our first night. Needless to say we were not disappointed. Best Indian meal we have had in years. We will definitely return next time we’re visiting the area. Thank you.

I had a chicken Boshundhara with onoin bhaji and rice, very highly recommended, new chef very good 👍 Dougie V

Absolutely fantastic, the food is the most authentic I've eaten in the uk Friendly through out, the staff are excellent at recommending dishes, partner was struggling to choose her dishes because of various dietary requirements and the staff whom were absolutely fantastic quick off the mark recommending dishes that when they arrived were absolutely delicious and the drinks here where I must admit the beer and cider selection was the average choices , however the wine list is one of the best I've seen for a long while, we chose the spanish roja well it was full of flavour medium texture and we ended up buying another bottle and what's more it was imported now for the main attraction the food. Absolutely brilliant and didn't leave anything these chefs know how to make real authentic cruisine unlike many Indian restaurants that do the English style I.e massala buhna etc, these chefs do the lot including many dishes of there native States mostly from Bangladesh. From the starters to the dessert it was wonderful, when we pass through these parts again we will be definitely coming back.

This is by far one of the best Currys I have eaten, this is our second visit to the area with work, booked the same hotel and just a one min walk away is the Gulshan. The Achari is an amazing dish and today I requested it a tad hotter and boy did they deliver. The staff are polite; friendly and respectful. So curry, rice, naan and one and a half beers for £30 in a clean atmosphere.

Very tasty food, and very welcoming and funny staff. Went just after opening on a Tuesday, it was smartly turned out. We were welcomed by a couple of very cheerful and funny gents behind the bar. I didn’t know what to pick as it all looked good so they walked me through recommendations based off their questions. And it was delicious. It really hit the spot.

Visited a few weeks ago and was blown away by the service received from the staff. I ordered a Chicken Rogan and it was more spicy than previous Rogans I've had in other Indians but still tasted really good. Would recommend and I will definitely be visiting again

Absolutely fantastic meal! Visiting the area and happened upon Newton & The Gulshan for an early dinner. The owner was so welcoming, the restaurant was lovely and clean. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful but most importantly the food was excellent! Would highly recommend this lovely little restaurant - a hidden gem 🌟😍

Gulshan provided the best meal - by far - that we had during our 28 day vacation in Britain. Indeed, it was the ONLY truly good meal. I like spiced food, my wife does not - but our server recommended two completely different dishes to meet our respective tastes and both were superb. Do not hesitate if you are in Newtown or passing through, try this restaurant.

What a wonderful welcoming. The Tikka Lamb was amazing and it was followed up by great chicken Masala. You won’t regret stepping in. Trust me.

The most welcoming and cheerful staff I have ever encountered at a restaurant! Nothing is too much trouble, and the food is outstanding. My 9 year old boy was treated as if part of their own family and was thoroughly delighted with his experience, as was I and another family member! The waiting staff were friendly and helpful anticipating any needs and clearly wanting to ensure you selected and enjoyed your choices . Tbe food was tasty and excellent and didnt have to wait long like in some places when cooked to particular non menu request . If you love Indian food and value the extra care you will receive. I think you will enjoy this restaurant.

Such a friendly, warm welcome. The menu is extensive and varied. The food was amazing, well seasoned and presented. We had a wonderful time and left with very full tummies.

My colleague and I were driving from Lancashire to Swansea and looked for a halfway point restaurant. By chance we came across Gulshan in Newtown and phoned ahead to book. We were welcomed warmly and served quickly. On advice I chose Chicken Gulshan Delight and oh my, it was so, so tasty. The food and service was so good we returned again the following evening on our drive home and I had the same again! Excellent food, service and restaurant. I wish I lived closer! Thank you for welcoming us and looking after us.

On holiday in Wales, had a fantastic take away. Food very hot and tasty. The guy who took our order was very polite and welcoming when we collected. Prices good too.

Great food and amazing service, would 100% recommend to anyone wanting authentic amazing indian food. I especially enjoyed the naga dish, but everything was just 100%, tasted great and owners are so kind and warming , made me and my group feel great.

Honestly one of the best places I have eaten. Food was amazing. Had an issue with the food being a bit too spicy, however staff were very friendly and exchanged the dish straight away. Very friendly staff atmosphere was 10/10! Strongly recommend if your looking for a nice family dinner night out.

The food was excellent and the service was excellent, the waiter had time to chat with us, and explain what was in the dishes ,how they were cooked etc ,he was very knowledgeable, there was no rushing the meal ,when you was ready they would serve

Very poor chicken was tough and chips were warm ups very dry not good, we have had good meals when we eat in but the takeaway was poor for the money won't use them again for takeaway paid £40 most of it went in bin not gud

This was a special occasion meal for my mother's 90th birthday. We were looked after from the moment we entered the restaurant; made to feel very welcome; helped to make our choices. The food was absolutely delicious when it arrived and we all had the right amount to eat. Overall, a really lovely experience and one we shall hopefully repeat in the future. Many thanks to you all at Gulshan!

It's a nice Indian restaurant in the small town, but all is yummy. Serving is a bit slow, so please be patient.

I’ve moved from Newtown but went back to The Gulshan. It’s never changed. Always a stunning meal. Staff always give suggestions of what they think you would like and it’s always so good. Professional but extremely friendly staff. Always will go back when I’m in the area

We were a large family group staying between Newport and Montgomery for a long weekend. Gulshan were very helpful on the phone and delivered our meals on an atrocious night. The food was delicious and plentiful. Would highly recommend

Went to Gulshan this evening with a friend. It was an absolutely lovely meal, lamb sag, king prawn dopiaza, onion bagees and peshwari naan. All the food was superb and the service was, as usual, fantastic. Friendly, attentive but respectful of our privacy too. Will definitely be visiting again soon. Thanks very much!

Stopped in Newtown for one night and popped in for food. The chicken tikka patia was gorgeous as was all the other food. Ali the waiter was a gentleman and very welcoming. Would definitely return if next in the area. Thanks for a lovely meal

Delicious food served by excellent staff.

Unfortunately this was not the best experience. The food was to an acceptable standard. The biggest issue was the customer service, when you expect to have private conversations you have members of staff asking for private information which was totally unacceptable behaviour and checking in every couple of minutes while trying to eat. This doesn't seem to be a very popular restaurant as this was completely empty. Personally we will not be returning.

Not been for a while. I enjoyed it. Food is very good. We visited late evening and were greeted by Little Ali. A man low in stature but a massive and gracious personality. He is an asset to the business. Thank you Ali for your great service.

Me and my partner recently ordered a takeout from here. Everything was served hot and was delicious. A particular highlight was the Chicken Sahgorana which we’ll definitely be getting again. So full of flavour. Dealing with Ali (I hope I spelt that right) was a delight. A very welcoming gentleman. We’ll be back soon for a sit down meal.

Very nice restaurant, the decor is lovely. Staff are very welcoming and ready to offer their expertise on the dishes. There is quite an extensive choice and lots that we hadn't seen before, the food was lovely and tasty and we will definitely return to try a few more dishes.

I was going to visit this restaurant a few weeks ago, after an online search for an Asian restaurant on Newtown but never received a reply to my message enquiry made from their website, really disappointing so I booked Bahar restaurant instead as I received a prompt response and so this had given me confidence in their service and had great evening..

Gulshan's served tasty, fresh, well balanced food with excellent customer service! We had a range of vegetarian dishes and were so happy with our meal we went back there the next day. The saag paneer, tarka daal, garlic naan and vegetarian biriyani were all delicious! The staff are friendly, attentitive, funny and smiley. If you're in Newton or the surrounding area you can't go wrong with a meal at Gulshan's

Visited this Indian restaurant this week and it is one of the best Indian restaurants we have eaten in. The food was fantastic and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The restaurant and toilets were both spotless. Have booked again for next week.
