Borth Tandoori in Ceredigion

We felt very welcomed and the service was excellent. Our food didn’t take long to be served and food was very delicious , and was reasonably priced making it very attractive restaurant. I would highly recommend visiting if you’re after high quality Indian food.

Not great, got the order wrong. Had 2 orders meant to be separate all mixed up. Ordered a Chicken Tikka Main which cost over £10. Understand they want to make a profit but 8 slices "not pieces" of chicken in the portion. Maybe 1 chicken breast total. Phoned and said how much chicken should there be and was told 8 pieces of chicken in that portion but this was more 8 slices.

We had passed this restaurant a few times during our stays. It’s the only Indian option without driving 20 mins. It looks a little shabby on the outside, but the inside was clean and the team were really friendly. They were flexible in making some specific variations to dishes. The takeaway took 20 mins to prepare, was well packed and good value for money for what we had. The food itself was tasty, there was variation between the sauces and the sides etc were enjoyable. Would definitely use this again for a holiday takeaway or eat in. Its unlicensed btw but sells soft drinks.

Excellent meal, our curries were fresh, delicious, and very generously portioned, hot baked to order naan breads too were fanstastic. Wonderful lady serving us, couldn’t fault anything. Been here multiple times now and the restaurant was packed as usual. highly recommend and see for yourself.

There’s so much I could say about how lovely the food is but instead I want to give recognition to the young man who waited on us this evening. I overheard him telling another customer waiting for his takeaway that he was 16 and from Birmingham but he was in Borth for the summer holidays as he often does but this was his first time working at the restaurant . I also heard him say that his uncle owns the place and his dad is a chef there. The restaurant was packed by the time we were leaving and so although we did try and hover about we were unable to catch a quick chat to uncle or dad to tell them what a lovely polite man he is and how much of a credit he is to them. You should be so proud of him and he should be proud of himself.

We had dinner at Borth Tandori on Saturday night, but we had a terrible experience. It was some sort of chicken dish, but I'm not sure. The food is not handled hygienically, but of course it was our fault that we wandered in here, since the sticker on the door is rating 2, which shows that it is not a clean place and a huge risk for eating. I'm sorry, but you shouldn't ask for money for such food, but even the operation of the restaurant should be reconsidered. Unfortunately, the bad rating is not accidental.

£33.10 very very small portions £4.50 4 tiny onion bhaji 7 small pieces of chicken 1 Kema Nan 1 plain plain curry sauce 4 poppadoms small pot chutney. Total disappointment never again.thats with 5% discount for collection.

Wow! Had a takeaway from Borth tandoori on the first night of our stay and it was a great start to the holiday! Everything was delicious and the chef was happy to prepare a king prawn pasanda even though this wasn't on the menu. Would highly recommend!

I went with my friend twice while on holiday. Both times the food was really good it was very busy on our first visit. We went again in the week and enjoyed another meal.

We live in Machynlleth and struggle to find a good Indian and had not tried Borth before and recently went to "give it a go". So glad we did, although first impressions as you enter are that the place needs a lick of paint, this soon goes to the back of your mind as soon as you meet the lady that served us, polite, super friendly and obviously cares about the business, we were a table of 4 and ordered a "bit of everything" to give it a try, different starters, different mains and a selection of sides and breads, more than enough food and bagged up enough leftovers to provide lunch for 2 the next day. All of us were happy with every item we received, all tasted fresh and flavoursome and good portion sizes, lady that served us (I'm annoyed I've forgotten her name but she said her daughter works there as well) was an absolute credit to the establishment and the sort of personality that this industry is sorely missing in other venues. Absolutely worth the visit even if you are a bit of a drive away.

Takeaway . Efficient, friendly service. Ordered chicken Tikka masala, Borth special, rice and naan. Borth special was delicious, CTM much more like a Korma in our experience. Tasty but very coconutty.

Meat is dry as a nuns, id say probably the worse curry I've ever had... tandoori chicken is not marinaded... If the Welsh think that's a curry they need to go to Birmingham..... flavourless..

Where do I begin. We had a family get together this weekend and we all opted for a curry before our movie and I'm glad we did. Borth tandoori definitely blew us away the food was divine and the service impeccable. The waiter had really good knowledge of the menu and helped accommodate us accordingly. Couldn't fault our visit food was 10/10 service was 11/10 only thing we would say is the decor is a bit outdated bar that however the visit was phenomenal really enjoyed our weekend and will definitely be coming over again.

Food was amazing. Not sure why this place has poor reviews on trip advisor. We have eaten here twice now, once in and once takeaway and the portions are great, the flavours are amazing and I have had plenty of Indians in my life. The bajis are really tasty, the chicken tikka masala is amazing and the rice and naans lovely. I would highly recommend this place. Plus when you eat in you can take your own booze in but it is cash only for the bill.

Good food, friendly service, fair prices. Don't judge a book by its cover or a restaurant by its decor. When dropping my daughter back at Uni after Christmas, I wanted to take her out to dinner. Everywhere in Aberystwyth were booked pretty much, so I decided to look on TripAdvisor at Borth and read favourable reviews. So off we went. When we arrived, there was a very friendly member of staff and there was a sign that they did not take card! I haven't really used cash since the pandemic. But we were advised we could get some bottles of drink (place is not licensed) and cash back at the pub down the road. We did reconsider whether to go back. But I like to support small businesses and little adventures. The pub was very friendly too. Got my youngling a couple of bottles of cider and some cash for dinner, off we went. We had a warm welcome and sat down. 3 poppadoms, 2 mains, rice and naan for sharing and a Dr Pepper. £32. Cheap compared to where we live in the Midlands. Good food and everyone we encountered had some banter and smiles. It looked like we stepped into an Indian in the 1980's, but it was a very pleasant evening and we were pleased we dined there.

We had a beautiful takeaway NYE. The food was fabulous! We had a selection of curries & each one was perfect, with a good selection of tasty side dishes. Can highly recommend.

Being from the midlands I wasn’t expecting much from this restaurant but I have to say it beat my expectations. Quick service, fantastic food. I saw a couple of reviews saying it was watery and tasteless and I couldn’t disagree more!

Absolutely delicious Chicken Tikka Pathia - in fact probably the best I’ve ever had. I don’t normally finish it when ordering via takeaway but this was gone in a very short space of time. My husband and I loved everything we ordered and will return when we are back in Borth.

We have been visiting Borth for years now and have never got round to trying this place out until last week. We had a takeaway and were really impressed, nice tasty hot food, friendly service. We will definitely be returning!

Superb 👌Food was probably the best we've had at an Indian restaurant and we've got to give a special shout out to ELAINE (what a fabulous hostess...literally couldn't ask for anybody friendlier) Didn't realise there was no alcohol served when we got there but we were told we could bring our own in or go to the local pub and bring some in...so we brought our own. Small but friendly...very highly recommended indeed !!

Lovely takeaway , one of the best I’ve ever had. All the food was really tasty and big portions of curry. Staff were really friendly when taking the phone order and when we collected. Was piping hot even when we got back to the caravan. The nann was smaller than I’m used to local to me but this is reflected in the price.

Don't believe the negative reviews. We had a perfectly tasty takeaway curry here. Quality chicken in the flavoursome authentic curries, lovely pilau rice, lovely naan. A solid 4 Star meal. A little steep on price for the quality but then again, no where seems to be as cheap in 2023, and it is the only Asain takeaway in the area, so they can charge a premium and still get customers. Would happily go back.

They don’t take cards…… Anyway, the waiter said order what you want, drop it in tomorrow. We scraped together 30 quid. Food was great. Seriously good I thought. Our bill came to 50p more than we had….he didn’t ever charge us corkage on the wine we took it….. Fabulous…..see you next year…

Nice place I always go in when I'm in Borth. Had a cauliflower bhaji, tarka dahl & a chapati. Delicious, vegan. Also cash only.

Lovely restaurant. We had starters, a korma and a balti with onion rice. Food was clean, not oily, nice amount of chicken and really hot. We went twice and on the second evening my partner had a rogan josh. The man serving had remembered me and we exchanged pleasantries. For mid week there was a couple of tables occupied which is a good sign. I'd book in advance if wanting to eat in.

Not very tasty. Biriyani items are not mentioned in the menu but available. Chicken biryani is 12.95£ not worth it.

We were made very welcome at this local Indian restaurant. We had booked a table which is highly recommended. On arrival we were seated straight away and offered poppadoms and a pickle tray. Glasses for your own drinks eg. wine or beer were readily available....

What can I say but how gorgeous there food is. Forgot to take a picture cause we just scoffed it. We had pooadoms chutney & onion salad.. Mixed starter.. I had chicken tikka dupiaz (not spicy) and the hubby had the Borth speciality (quite spicy)...

First time, won't be the last, 10/10 staff and food. Recomend.

Excellent takeaway for Indian food. Recommend the chicken chaat for starters and chicken korai for main course. Reasonably priced too.

Dont be fooled when you walk in the place looks run down but beleive me you get a lovelly meal here . We had takeaway prtions were huge well worth the money .

Ordered a takeaway from here for the first time, chicken madras, chicken saag and chicken vindaloo. The food was very good, reminded me of how curries used to taste years ago. Not full of sugar and food colourings, spot on food and will be back next time i visit Borth.

Returning to the area having been away for 4 years we had a takeaway from Borth Tandoori. Freshly prepared, we had Chicken Shashlick and Tandoori mix. There was lots of both, piping hot and perfectly cooked. Excellent!

Great little curry house, food is always spot on and the owner and staff are great they accommodate whatever you want. we visit every time we come down to our caravan on cambrian coast.we highly recommend.

Cold windy day, decided needed warming up and tried Borth tandoori. Not disappointed, warm and very welcoming, food excellent and plentiful. Would definitely visit again.

We've been here before and enjoyed the food then hence our return and we were not disappointed. Warm welcome from Kayleigh, (I hope I have spelled that correctly), who supplied glasses and a bottle opener for our drinks as they do not serve alcoholic drinks...

We wondered in here as a happy accident when out looking for food. The lady serving was so friendly and was great with our children. The food was served in a reasonable time and was incredibly tasty. There was lots of choice for both spice lovers and those a little softer like me. They serve soft drinks but if you want alcoholic you take your own as they aren't licensed. It was very well priced, we were convinced they'd totalled our bill wrong when we saw how cheap it was for a family of 4.
