Borth Tandoori in Ceredigion

Where do I begin. We had a family get together this weekend and we all opted for a curry before our movie and I'm glad we did. Borth tandoori definitely blew us away the food was divine and the service impeccable. The waiter had really good knowledge of the menu and helped accommodate us accordingly. Couldn't fault our visit food was 10/10 service was 11/10 only thing we would say is the decor is a bit outdated bar that however the visit was phenomenal really enjoyed our weekend and will definitely be coming over again.

But due to high demand too busy

Good food, friendly service, fair prices. Don't judge a book by its cover or a restaurant by its decor. When dropping my daughter back at Uni after Christmas, I wanted to take her out to dinner. Everywhere in Aberystwyth were booked pretty much, so I decided to look on TripAdvisor at Borth and read favourable reviews. So off we went. When we arrived, there was a very friendly member of staff and there was a sign that they did not take card! I haven't really used cash since the pandemic. But we were advised we could get some bottles of drink (place is not licensed) and cash back at the pub down the road. We did reconsider whether to go back. But I like to support small businesses and little adventures. The pub was very friendly too. Got my youngling a couple of bottles of cider and some cash for dinner, off we went. We had a warm welcome and sat down. 3 poppadoms, 2 mains, rice and naan for sharing and a Dr Pepper. £32. Cheap compared to where we live in the Midlands. Good food and everyone we encountered had some banter and smiles. It looked like we stepped into an Indian in the 1980's, but it was a very pleasant evening and we were pleased we dined there.

We had a beautiful takeaway NYE. The food was fabulous! We had a selection of curries & each one was perfect, with a good selection of tasty side dishes. Can highly recommend.

Being from the midlands I wasn’t expecting much from this restaurant but I have to say it beat my expectations. Quick service, fantastic food. I saw a couple of reviews saying it was watery and tasteless and I couldn’t disagree more!

we had the chicken and prawn borth speciality and samosas the only thing they could improve was the chicken and the lamb pieces, they where small and had a dry texture the rice was good and the naan was OK

Absolutely delicious Chicken Tikka Pathia - in fact probably the best I’ve ever had. I don’t normally finish it when ordering via takeaway but this was gone in a very short space of time. My husband and I loved everything we ordered and will return when we are back in Borth.

Had a takeaway from here I think you can eat in but we chose to take out, food was hot and tasty. Order time was only 25 mins. I would give it a good solid 4 stars. Would go back.

Lovely food and service at great value. Some may think the place is a bit scruffy, but it’s clean and we liked it a lot!

We have been visiting Borth for years now and have never got round to trying this place out until last week. We had a takeaway and were really impressed, nice tasty hot food, friendly service. We will definitely be returning!

Superb 👌Food was probably the best we've had at an Indian restaurant and we've got to give a special shout out to ELAINE (what a fabulous hostess...literally couldn't ask for anybody friendlier) Didn't realise there was no alcohol served when we got there but we were told we could bring our own in or go to the local pub and bring some in...so we brought our own. Small but friendly...very highly recommended indeed !!

Lovely takeaway , one of the best I’ve ever had. All the food was really tasty and big portions of curry. Staff were really friendly when taking the phone order and when we collected. Was piping hot even when we got back to the caravan. The nann was smaller than I’m used to local to me but this is reflected in the price.

Don't believe the negative reviews. We had a perfectly tasty takeaway curry here. Quality chicken in the flavoursome authentic curries, lovely pilau rice, lovely naan. A solid 4 Star meal. A little steep on price for the quality but then again, no where seems to be as cheap in 2023, and it is the only Asain takeaway in the area, so they can charge a premium and still get customers. Would happily go back.

Disgraceful, king prawn korma, little tiny prawns, and lots of disgusting sauce which was watery, Will not get another takeaway from there

They don’t take cards…… Anyway, the waiter said order what you want, drop it in tomorrow. We scraped together 30 quid. Food was great. Seriously good I thought. Our bill came to 50p more than we had….he didn’t ever charge us corkage on the wine we took it….. Fabulous…..see you next year…

Nice place I always go in when I'm in Borth. Had a cauliflower bhaji, tarka dahl & a chapati. Delicious, vegan. Also cash only.

Lovely restaurant. We had starters, a korma and a balti with onion rice. Food was clean, not oily, nice amount of chicken and really hot. We went twice and on the second evening my partner had a rogan josh. The man serving had remembered me and we exchanged pleasantries. For mid week there was a couple of tables occupied which is a good sign. I'd book in advance if wanting to eat in.

Not very tasty. Biriyani items are not mentioned in the menu but available. Chicken biryani is 12.95£ not worth it.

We were made very welcome at this local Indian restaurant. We had booked a table which is highly recommended. On arrival we were seated straight away and offered poppadoms and a pickle tray. Glasses for your own drinks eg. wine or beer were readily available....

What can I say but how gorgeous there food is. Forgot to take a picture cause we just scoffed it. We had pooadoms chutney & onion salad.. Mixed starter.. I had chicken tikka dupiaz (not spicy) and the hubby had the Borth speciality (quite spicy)...

First time, won't be the last, 10/10 staff and food. Recomend.

Went to this restaurant with four friends and we had a lovely night out. The food was excellent and so was the sevice. It's BYOB. Place is small so be sure to book a table.

Excellent takeaway for Indian food. Recommend the chicken chaat for starters and chicken korai for main course. Reasonably priced too.

A beautiful place offering authentic Indian food with excellent service and great food.

Dont be fooled when you walk in the place looks run down but beleive me you get a lovelly meal here . We had takeaway prtions were huge well worth the money .

Had a chef special last night was not impressed got home and was sick as dog my friend went back to tell them and not a scrap of sympathy was shown

Ordered a takeaway from here for the first time, chicken madras, chicken saag and chicken vindaloo. The food was very good, reminded me of how curries used to taste years ago. Not full of sugar and food colourings, spot on food and will be back next time i visit Borth.

Returning to the area having been away for 4 years we had a takeaway from Borth Tandoori. Freshly prepared, we had Chicken Shashlick and Tandoori mix. There was lots of both, piping hot and perfectly cooked. Excellent!

Came here on a cold winters night, lovely welcome from the host and couldn’t have been more accommodating. Food was delicious and good value, a highlight of a trip to Borth.

Great little curry house, food is always spot on and the owner and staff are great they accommodate whatever you want. we visit every time we come down to our caravan on cambrian coast.we highly recommend.

Cold windy day, decided needed warming up and tried Borth tandoori. Not disappointed, warm and very welcoming, food excellent and plentiful. Would definitely visit again.

We've been here before and enjoyed the food then hence our return and we were not disappointed. Warm welcome from Kayleigh, (I hope I have spelled that correctly), who supplied glasses and a bottle opener for our drinks as they do not serve alcoholic drinks...

We wondered in here as a happy accident when out looking for food. The lady serving was so friendly and was great with our children. The food was served in a reasonable time and was incredibly tasty. There was lots of choice for both spice lovers and those a little softer like me. They serve soft drinks but if you want alcoholic you take your own as they aren't licensed. It was very well priced, we were convinced they'd totalled our bill wrong when we saw how cheap it was for a family of 4.

On the small seafront at Borth and 10 mins walk from park dean . Closes Mondays . Cash only Take your own alcohol. Advise booking !! Take always give 5% discount Food was tasty . In fact best mushroom pila rice I've had , and garlic naan was good . Curry was tasty generous amounts of meat . Down side looked very tired and needs a good sprouse up & maybe a more indian / Bangladeshi feel would be good !! Bin the rug on the wall and table clothes & broken organ thing in window !! 2 welsh ladies friendly

What a great Indian had takeaway while stopping at family members asked for nags extra hot and was spot on everybody’s food was well cooked and tasty and the chicken tikka starter was one of the best I’ve had in year highly recommend

Visited Borth for a weekend away with “the lads”. No wives were with us and we was craving a good curry! Called up ye old Borth Tandoori and the lovely lady booked our table. When we arrived we was greeted and seated. No air con and a few flies buzzing around. Our first impression wasn’t great. There was several other parties enjoying there meal so we thought it must be worth it and in any case there was no where else to go. We ordered several dishes and requested for the chef to make it “Bangladeshi” styleeee. This is the secret phrase for the chef to sharpen his blade and get out the special ingredients! Wow. What can I say. We thoroughly enjoyed every dish cooked. Good generous portions. Lovely sauces. Especially the mint sauce. Me mate Dave was gulping it down like a fish out of water. Anyone visiting Borth must make a visit here as when you put the decor and creature comforts aside you will see the food is absolutely pukka. Lovely waitress. A local lady with an immense amount of knowledge that she could probably work at the local tourist board! Keep up the great service and food. We will be back and back with the wives and kids!

Traveled from Aberystwyth to Borth just to visit the restaurant, lovely service, the lady taking order was pleasant and friendly, we ordered desi style food and they didn’t disappoint. Would visit again :)

Worse curry we have ever tasted if this is indian food I will stick to beans on toast. No spice no flavour A tastless pile of mush. Will never have from them again. Avoid at all costs
