Had a takeaway from here last night after having tried roughly 4 other Indian takeaway’s in Chelmsford and this was the best so far! Lots of chicken & prawns in our dishes and each was really tasty. Thank you

Having tried a few Indian takeaways around Chelmsford, this is our favourite so far! The chicken dhansak was the best yet & we tried a specialty prawn coconut curry which was delicious. A great amount of chicken and prawns in both dishes. Thank you

Best Indian takeaway in Moulsham Street. Always prompt on service and the food is delicious. Would particularly recommend the Lamb Dopiaza.

Shapla Indian in Chelmford is a takeaway restaurant. I had a typical Friday night takeaway; tandoori mixed grill, butter chicken, and onion bagees. The mixed grill was tasteless lumps of meat, cooked tandoori style, the butter chicken sauce was not mixed well, and was tasteless, the bagees were oily and over salty. Waste of money!

Highly rate this Indian takeaway. Quick delivery. Amazing food. And respectable employees.

Have been using shapla for over 20 years. Overall good, tasty food but what is going on with the meat samosa? As small as a postage stamp, no minced lamb to be seen (a smear of paste and potatoes). Very disappointed- used to be good

Can’t give a minus rating unfortunately. Rip off.. 5 small cubes off Paneer Tikka for £4.50 and below average taste. I’ve also ordered curries here on me before and the taste is not authentic, bland, oily. As an Indian looking forward to a restaurant style takeout, thoroughly disappointed, I’d rather spend the time to cook the dish myself. Will definitely NOT be ordering anything here ever again..

Great food and customer service. I placed my order and noticed that UberEats haven’t listed the full menu, so I placed my order and called to query if they did the item and if I could add it to my order. The gentleman couldn’t have been more helpful and the service was so seamless. I will never order an Indian takeaway from anywhere else! Fantastic! They even provided me with a personalised leaflet, letting me know that I can save money by ordering direct, so I’ll certainly be doing this in the future!

Has Something has changed at SHAPLA??..... I think so, and for the good of Moulsham! I ordered about 10 items including 2 mains, 3 sides, onion Bhaji and bread. This is probably the 6th or 7th curry I’ve taken away from here over a few years. I’ve always found it decent but no more. The staff and owners have been friendly a s courteous but the food has never been stand out to me. Until this time..IF THIS IS THE NEW STANDARD COUNT ME IN! There’s a sense of establishment about the place where traditions and skills are passed down to the young lot and so forth. And it feels, from tasting the various dishes that I ordered, that they’ve hit onto good times in the kitchen and throughout. My point is.... every dish was WELL EXECUTED. The chicken Tikka in the Dhansak was big, tender, colourful and tasted like char grilled properly. the Dhansak (without sugar as requested) was perfect, thick wet consistency with a myriad of flavours exploding in the mouth at every bite. And the vindaloo hot, tandoori chicken sashlik balti was wonderful with its mix of char singed onions and broken up pieces of tandoori chicken kicking out some serious heat on the firm. All sides were banging - sag paneer was sweet coconuts and creamy cheese business. The onion Bhajiis reminded of the street food in Chandigarh when I visited once. But the standout for me was the sag aloo which was well balanced in its seasoning and freshness. A complete triumph! Let me tell ya, that doesn’t happen very often. Please please - SHAPLA - keep up the high standard and I’ll forever be your friend. Thank you, Chad

Food arrived hot and was absolutely delicious, although a little longer than expected. Driver apologised for the wait explained they had a flood of orders at one time. I did order on a saturday evening so its understand. Will defo be ordering next week. Complements to the chef.

Outstanding! First time I’ve tried this Indian and I certainly wasn’t disappointed. Delicious meal, delivered on time! The best dansak I have ever tried. Wife had a dish from the exclusive dishes which was even better. Will be trying many other dishes on the menu.

Have been using the Shapla for the last month. Have to say each time just gets better and better. Definitely the best Indian I’ve ever had in Chelmsford. A must try. Brilliant stuff.

Takeaway- Never see loads of potato in a chicken vindaloo before! Cut down on the chicken and replaced with potato as a cheaper option. Swimming in oil and leaked everywhere! Disappointed. Never again will I eat from this restaurant.

I was recommended Shapla by a family member but as the reviews weren’t great i never tried it out. After many bad experiences at other Indian restaurants I thought I’d give Shapla a go. I ordered online for delivery. The delivery arrived 10 minutes earlier than expected which was brilliant. The food was piping hot when serving and was absolutely delicious. The best I have had in years, I would not hesitate to recommend.

Sorry guys your standard has droppedImmensely. Used you regularly over the past 15 years, but Saturday was terrible.Chicken Rogan, butter chicken, chicken tikka as a main, rice and naan bread, just over £38, every meal was floating under a centimetre of oil, awful and tasteless, ruined, rice dry and crunchie and naan burnt one side and not cooked on the other side.Totally inedible a real shame fellas.

Service and food top notch. My grandad starting going there when they first opened, he’s been a regular customers for 20 odd years. Most amazing thing is it’s the same owners. They’ve been there so long they must be doing something right.

Takeaway, including onion bajie starter (this was dry and burnt) and tandoori mixed grill (small bits of meat and very dry no juice at all in the meat. Will not go here again even though local to me.

Appalling !! We have been using the takeaway online facility for quite sometime. Originally no problems. However the last three times the online discount does not kick in. Phoned and suggested they check it out themselves . Answer "well its a third party problem" Me - "yes mate but its your business so might be a good idea to check out what the problem is. The Previous order resulted in one dish missing . Complained but hey ho when it arrives 45 mins later whats the point. This time following my conversation with a fairly reasonable employee and saying that I may not ever use their services again you would think that they would try and make the food top class..... Nope !...Chicken really tough , I mean really tough and here is the bonus dish we didn't order, IN the Chicken Tikka Massala . Yup (see photo) PLASTIC !!!We strongly do NOT recommend. Do I go to Trading Standards ?

Always get our take away from Shapla . Telephone order ! Normally 20 mins or so to go and collect . Food always fresh and hot . Chaps all ways with a smile they do a delivery service sometimes bit of a wait so suggest early booking . 10% discount if you pick up . Always have a good Indian from here . food was lovely, but we ordered a drink and it never arrived, called the store and asked for a refund for the drink was told "don't worry about it we will give you a bottle next time" um no, I ordered it because we wanted a drink with our food, then was told we will send someone round with cash again no I paid on card and it was getting late and we would be going to sleep. asked for a refund to my card told I would be called back.....still waiting

Ordered lamb biryanis and mixed starter, mix starter meat so tough!!!!! Birayani with no meat in it, charged extra for dhal instead of standard veg curry (dhal is way cheaper) waited an extra 30 minutes for my collection order, no discount given for collecting Avoid!!!!

Ordered 5 curries, 5 nan, 4 rice, side dishes. Delivery driver dropped of one small bag. When asked did we have the right order he said "hopefully" and walked away. After calling him back he had given us the wrong order. When we opened the food one carton was crushed and leaked all over the bag. The food was warm not hot and the curries pretty average. Some of the side dishes tasted odd. Won't be using again.

Todos nos pareció bastante caliente aunque algunos de nosotros habíamos pedido que nos pareció que no eran platos especialmente caliente, así que si no te gusta su curry caliente podría ser la pena mencionar a ellos cuando ordene.

Although food was superb as always it took over an hour an and half to arrive. We tried to call restaurant several times about delivery time and there was no answer and no apology when arrived late

The food quality this evening was awful!!! Watery, tasteless chicken tikka masala, and the sagaloo, the potatoes a little hard/undercooked! Normally love ordering from this place, but wasn't happy this eve :(

Delivery took over an hour, but was within the estimate they gave. The only thing that let the food down was the incredibly greasy bhajis - the paper bag was dripping!

Unfortunately not impreesed. My lamb tikka masala was oily and taste like water, had very little flavour overall. The keema naan was practically empty, no meat in it at all, and the kebab was skinnier than the fork I ate it with. Huge let down after some good reviews.

Watery food left a disappointing taste in the mouth. Is it the done thing to not give a poppodum, sauces and salad if you order through just eat? Real shame. Wont be ordering from them again.

Ok so they extended delivery time & then went 10 minutes passed that so 30 minutes later than originally quoted but I'd happily wait that amount again if the food tasted as delicious as this. This was one of the best Indian meals I've had the taste quality all 110% really tasty & good portions not used shapla for a while but they're getting my order next time as long as they keep this quality I'm never going anywhere else and recommend them to everyone and the butter chicken I had tasted fantastic

We normally order from you guys and order the same curries however this time the chicken tikka masala was extremely watery and covered my whole plate in wate. It unfortunately ruined the meal for me.

Delicious food as ever, had 4 friends over and they enjoyed it. Unfortunately the two kheema naans (£5 worth) we ordered were left out of the order. We phoned the takeaway straight away but all they offered was a discount on our next order if we phoned up to place our order. The naans were missed :-(
