The are plenty of tables and a variety of choice of where to sit. The food is cheap and affordable but it is very tasty. There is also a variety of what to eat. The toilets are clean.

Today I visited aldriss cafe and as I'm gluten and dairy intolerant the selection is very limited. I went for a bacon sandwich which frankly was the worse I've EVER had .bacon obviously was reheated it was like rubber and the bread was cold sogging and in bits guess was defrosted. The lady got me cutlery as you could not pick it up as a sandwich the staff said its the bread.trust me no-one has ever giving me a sandwich like today ,surprise they serve food like this and didn't offer to make something else let along charge for it .shame as the shop is lovely but cafe today wasn't nice experience

Amazingly it’s the best value for food and drinks around in North Norfolk. They do the best cappuccinos and home made lunch special dishes. So for 4 of us adults, lots of choices and we had an amazing lunch with no pressure to leave the table until we had completely finished our get together(lots of news from our Grandson who just returned home from Australia after 3yrs)with great snacks and drinks service by all the cheerful staff. A wonderful and rememberable meal thanks ……We will return!

I go to Aldiss about once a month with my mother and we usually end up in the restaurant. Today we had tea and a snack. I had barely sat down after ordering, before the server arrived with the tray ! I checked to see if she had skates on ! From then on it was fast and helpful ‘service with a smile’ from Debbie. It’s so nice to get cheerful service and so very responsive - it’s a credit to the restaurant. It really made an impression on me. Thank you.

Nice location in the store and it’s light and airy. I think the prices are a little on the high side for what you get. I also found the tables very “sticky”, I asked a member of staff to wipe it and she said that is how they are but I didn’t like it.

A tasty breakfast but appalling service - have been using shapes for many years for convenience and am well aware the staff are never of a cheery manner but even worse than normal today! I appreciate that food service is different at the moment and the measures Aldiss have put in place would be brilliant if they used them! The QR code is clearly displayed at the till which I scanned for the track and trace just to be barked at saying ‘ Don’t bother it. Does not work- we still need your details!’ Bizarre! I then ordered our2 breakfasts, Tea Cake and drinks- dirty cutlery and 2 napkins then arrived at our table- I asked if it would be possible for a third napkin as 3 of us were eating- this was delivered with a grunt alongside some clean cutlery. Food arrived quickly and was tasty- unfortunately whilst we were eating our food we experienced shone shocking customer service with the till operator being very rude to those customers trying to order- barking words at them, No Please or a thank you, No Pardons just ‘What’. Other staff were witnessing this as were all gathered chatting behind the till at no social distance..... a shame as food is very good but customer service is shocking.

Popped into Aldiss at Fakenham for Breakfast and mug of filter coffee this morning and the service and quality of the meal were both superb. I selected my table before going to counter and placing my order to a very pleasant staff member and complied with check and trace. I had barely sat down at my table when my coffee was delivered by a very nice young lady who asked if I required any milk and sugar and promptly fulfilled my requirements. Very shortly after that my freshly cooked breakfast arrived which I couldn’t fault. Egg, bacon, sausage, hash brown, fried bread, button mushrooms, tomatoe, pot of baked beans plus toast and butter. The best cooked breakfast I had ever received that I hadn’t cooked myself. A big thank you to all the cafe staff for the wonderful way I was looked after this morning and just to let you know that your efforts were really appreciated.

On another visit to Shapes restaurant, whilst on an afternoon out shopping in Fakenham, we had lunch. I tried something different for a change, rather than my 'standing order' of the Ploughmans Lunch. Despite being tempted by the cauliflower cheese of the specials board, I decided to try the cheese and bacon baguette with a side of chips. I was not disappointed. Wow, what a good portion the baguette was. Delicious. A terrific portion of fries too. For dessert Imanaged to bag the last slice of the caramel apple pie. The rest of the family were very happy with their meals too. The restaurant has had a revamp since of last visit.

Very pleasant spacious cafe restaurant located upstairs at high-class furniture store Aldiss. Prices extremely reasonable for this type of location. To giive you an idea of prices; baked potatoes with filling start at around £3.75 and all are under £5 (except for the prawn one). Cans of soft drink £1 and a pot of tea for one is £1.25. Despite being upstairs, access for the less mobile is still excellent. Carpark right outside the back door, free wheelchairs are available to use from the lobby, and there is lift access to the restaurant.

Been to Aldiss many times but never realised they had a restaurant upstairs; and it’s dog friendly like do many other places in Norfolk. Food prices very competitive and what we had was very tasty. Would have got 5 stars were it not for a seemingly grumpy member of staff who served us and managed to miss one of the coffees off the order and got one of the food orders slightly wrong. Would definitely go back though.

A visit last Monday proved yet again what fabulous meals they provide at Shapes. Although we have been many times before to the restaurant, we had never visited before and were surprised to see how busy it is, even on a Monday. After much debating-I stuck with my regular choice of Ploughman's Lunch (the Stilton variety, as there are 3 choices to choose from). Fantastic for the price. I don't know how they do it for that. I had one of the largest pieces of cheese I have seen for a long time, alongside red and green peppers, cucumbers, pickled onions, pickle, red lettuce, lettuce, sliced red onion, tomato, and a hot baguette. The others - Mum and Dad- had a Chicken and Mushroom Pie with swede, cabbage, new potatoes, and carrots plus gravy. Dad had the Gammon Ham, Eggs and Chips. That day they had a very nice selection of cakes (which can change daily). On this occasion, having a hard choice between 4 or 5 I had the eye on, I opted for a slice of Chocolate and Orange Sponge Cake Sponge, which was to die for and had a Sticky Toffee Pudding Sponge,. He was in heaven. They also have a good selection of hot and cold drinks, in my case a very nice shandy provided by Fentimans.

My friend and I thought it would be nice to have lunch here! Absurd at 12 29 the main items were sold out! The last slice of quiche went as we asked about it! This restaurant has been running long enough to know how to cater by now! Obviously not enough made to see over the lunch period. Which should last from at least 12 to 2 30...Asked the unfriendly curt young woman what other option's was there for lunch. With a nod of her head said "read the menu! indicated the general all day menu. We opted for leek soup and a roll .The soup was Delicious, but dry dissatisfied with lack of lunch food available and the surley staff member. We are local and are regular customers of Alidiss and for the scones from restaurant..Not a good experience.. A fine sunny Thursday. Market day in Fakenham. It was to be expected that Shapes would be busy. We stopped here for morning coffee. The scones were very nice indeed - perfect texture, a cheesy flavour that permeated throughout, a crust with just the right degree of hardness. Vacated tables were cleared of used crockery immediately, but what a shame the clearing-up ladies didn't think to wipe the tables of left over crumbs and butter smears. And would it really eat into profits too much to provide paper napkins a little better than one expects at a roadside hot dog stall.

Have lived in Fakenham for three years and visited Aldis many times but never the Restaurant, I was surprised how small the kitchens were given the range of food on offer. The restaurant has a very light airy feel to it with tables really well spaced apart. You order and pay for the food and then it is brought to the table. There is a range of food from cooked breakfasts up to 11:00 and then the general menu up to mid afternoon. I had one of the daily specials, a beef and onion pie with chips and beans. Generous portions and chips freshly cooked however the pie had been bought in I am sure and was poor, all gravy and very little beef. My wife had a Tunamayo and Cheddar Cheese Panini, which came with a small mixed salad and some dorito style chips, very filling and delicious was her verdit. Free Wifi (with no registration or password malarkey) is much appreciated, and the children's play area is a great idea. The bad: I don't mind a bit of a wait at busy times, and this was a Saturday lunchtime. But it was a long wait and the food cannot have been freshly cooked – as advertised – because it was cold. The salad was the usual tasteless iceberg lettuce and unripe tomatoes. The salad dressing comes in a bottle that's almost impossible to mix and pour from. The teapot was the worst pourer I've ever seen, and that is saying something. The bouncy floor is a bit offputting. It's all perfectly bearable, and this is after all a department store cafe. For coffee and a scone it would be fine. But four stars? No way.

often pop in when out and about. They are still the best in town for scones and their midday meals are a treat, all home cooked, thankfully they haven't gone over to panini style lunches and nothing else.

Whenever we are in Fakenham we always visit Shapes for scones and coffee. Large fruit and large cheese scones plus two coffees all for £4.90!! We travel to many different areas and without any doubt these are the very best scones we have ever tasted. Wherever we go we invariably sit with scones and coffee and make the same remark, namely, 'If only they could have a few lessons from the staff at Shapes'. Most of the coffee shops near our home in The Scottish Borders charge in excess of £7.00 for the equivalent! Congratulations to the staff - keep up the good work!(Unfortunately, we have no need for a full meal, but the food always look good).

We just popped here for a coffee and cake but really nice and everything was fresh.Spotless restaurant and it was busy with people that obviously came often as staff knew them.Really friendly staff who make you feel very welcome. Will definitely try one of their main meals next time.

We decided to have lunch at Shapes Restaurant as we had been shopping in the store and I had read the reviews before visiting. We have visited Fakenham many times and always looked elsewhere in the town for lunch. However on this occasion we thought we would give Shapes a try. It was on a market day and rather wet so possibly a little busier than sometimes. At first we were unable to find an empty table. As some became available it took quite a while before they were cleared. The queue for food was quite long but the staff very pleasant. We were only eating a light meal but the food was lovely and hot (soup of the day) and the drinks fine. Gradually the lunch time rush diminished (about 2.00 pm) and we enjoyed a relaxing lunch break. It was really convenient because we didn't have to worry about parking and we could easily continue our shopping in the store afterwards.

I've been to Shapes restaurant on many occasions and haven't yet had a bad experience. The place is light and airy with plenty of space. There is a good sized menu and there are always daily hot specials. The food is always freshly prepared and made with good quality ingredients. The service is always polite and efficient and the prices are very reasonable.Ideal for a nice lunch or just for a drink and a snack.

Often pop in for coffee in Fakenham - and a scone or cake, which is worth a try! Not tried a meal but certainly looks good and a menu with a wide range for everyone. Very impressed.

I have a two year old little boy and finding places to meet friends with toddlers for a coffee and a chat in Norfolk isn't easy...The Shapes Cafe at Aldiss in Fakenham is easy to get to (free parking and I have never struggled to park), has an extensive menu (including children's meals) and is very reasonably priced. Most importantly though, they have a 'tucked away' children's play area that is well equipped and you can sit near it to keep an eye on your children. The staff are also very helpful with regard to the switching on the games and videos in the play area.

We often camp at the racecourse in Fakenham and a visit to the restaurant at Aldiss is a must. The food is good if a little pricey but the atmosphere and setting is excellent

Main problem is queuing up for food or just coffee - takes ages! But usually worth the wait. Food range is tasty for some unusual snacks and main courses, and a blackboard of specials.

We love coming into the Aldiss Restaurant every time we come home. They make the best scones and everyone is always really friendly and welcoming. It’s a lovely place to meet up with friends, especially because it’s the only one in Fakenham that has a play area.

Stopped for Sunday breakfast. Considering this is an instore restaurant, I have to say it was very pleasent. Clean and comfortable to sit in, the food was of a good standard with plenty of choice.Quick service and although not cheap still reasonable value for the quality of food.

Good 'restaurant'. Definitely try the cheese scones - the best I've ever had anywhere! Been going here for years and mainly for the scones! Very polite staff and pleasant seating area. Reasonable prices. Stairs but there is also a lift for less able or those with pushchairs. A pleasant place for a coffee.

we had been recommended this restaurant, so was looking forward to it. sorry but very disappointed had a toasted turkey sandwich and chips with gravy, the turkey was a piece of very chewy cardboard (couldnt call it meat). the sandwich itself was very dry. when the young lady collected my plate she asked if all was well i said no it was dry she said there was gravy to dip it in. never dipped a sandwich in gravy before. not very helpful, shant be going again

Fish and chips served freshly cooked in a nice light batter. We treated ourselves to fish and chips here. It is on the pricey side for fish and chips but the staff and environment made it decent value. The views from the table were also nice, especially as it was a cold day. Toilets were nice and clean and hot water to wash and warm hands up. Good that we arrived at 12noon opening time as we could choose a table with a good view. It was busy when we visited. Overall will go again and again go early.

Down in Worstead on wee business trip, asked about possibility of lunch nearby and were directed to the White Lady. It was around 14:30 on a Sunday afternoon so expectations weren't too high (would have settled for a sandwich...). Friendly welcome, assured food would be no problem and we're given 3 menus! We're invited to sit anywhere we chose so opted for window seat in dining area to rear. We both opted for Sunday roast topside. Absolutely fantastic. Beef cooked to perfection, awesome roast potatoes and Yorkshire pud, came with glazed chantenay carrots, buttered green beans and zingy red cabbage, jug of lush gravy and topped of with dish of unctuous Cauliflower and cheese (each by the way). Thinking about making the 3 hour drive again just to have that experience again.
