I love this fish n chip shop cum Chinese takeaway as they are friendly and fun the food is good and prices are the lowest anywhere around here

Love Kai and his family run business. Great food, great service and do gluten free on a lot of items if you ask. So wonderfully lovely and helpful. Don't forget it's cash only.

The chicken chow mein is awesome, especially when you add their curry sauce :D The fish and spring rolls are superb and the proprietor is always smiley and chatty.

I’ve lived in Chesham 20+ years and only recently discovered that Shangri La is both a chinese takeaway and a fish and chip shop. Having been without fish & chips for over a year, I was delighted to discover this and made this my last stop, on my way home from work. I can only describe the food as delicious! It really hit the spot. Crispy battered cod with chunky chips, perfect! This will definitely be our regular from now on. I was also really pleased with the service. My enthusiasm was greeted with a smile and a laugh and I was 100% pleased with the customer service. There’s plenty of parking and a cash point machine nearby.

Just love the Chinese food here. Defo our favourite take away by a long way. The owner is great too, its a family run business,

The food here is just beautiful. We moved to Chesham a couple of years ago and this is the best Chinese food around by a country mile ! Kai (The owner) has to be the nicest guy ever - Cannot rate this take-away highly enough !!

I was very disappointed in the food from this takeaway restaurant. I ordered a meal of 6 or 7 dishes, typical Chinese items. I found the cooking to be heavy and soggy, not at all crisp and light as you would expect from Chinese. We left half of it, and I just felt like I’d had a poor meal, but my friend had a very upset stomach and spent half the night on the loo. Needless to say I won’t be going back. But to the owners, I would say, your cooking is not up to the standard of normal Chinese takeaway, and I eat a lot of them from different places.

Kai, (apologies if I have missed spelt your name.) It's perhaps well over 2 years since I have been able to visit for a take out... We, would have fish and chips on a Friday 😋! Simply the best! I am delightful to visit such a beautiful hotel. But there are few things to be address, the calibration of the dissemination of information. The cleanliness and empathetic service. Moreover, we enjoyed our stay.

Good tasty Chinese food to order & takeaway. The menu is extensive and well cooked. Note that it is cash only (no card) which can be a bit unexpected for those that don't know. Certainly worth a repeat order.

talk about sugar rush!!!!! i ordered crispy fried chilli beef. what beef? it was just crispy fried batter. to my amusement, the beef had a chilli symbol next to it on the menu. spice….. lol no spice, it tasted like a sugary dessert instead. i’ll be honest i might be high on sugar whilst writing this review but nonetheless this review is 100% honest. p.s what’s this thing about taking cash in a cashless society? beats me…

Been going to this place for years and it’s always good food (best curry sauce around). The staff are nice and the service is quick. Shame Tesco had to open the little store as it’s made parking a bit harder.

I go there sometimes, great value for your money and good spring rolls. First time there it was very friendy, i was just there for about 3 mins but it sure had a nice feel to it. Good free prawn crackers with your order. Haven't tried the fish and chips part yet. Best chinese in Chesham no doubt.

Staff are super friendly however was put off from going back due to getting food poisoning from ordering their fish (fish and chips and sesame prawn toast). Their duck however was fine.

Takeaway was very nice and the staff are very friendly, will be back for the fish and chips, staff gave us a complimentary bottle of coke

Takeaway was awful, yellow bean sauce was non existent just chicken and cashew nuts in blandness. Crispy chilli beef looked radioactive and the ribs were in something that resembled snot. Inedible. Such a disappointment after spending £50 on a takeaway!

We moved to Chesham on Saturday and had two recommendations for the Shangri-La so we had to try for our first meal. We were not disappointed! Big chunks of perfectly cooked fish and lovely light batter. Plenty of chips for two to share too. Such a friendly welcome, we will be back!

First visit this year & I wish I had not bothered. The beef curry had plenty of mushrooms & onions which I like. However the beef was tough and when you get beef with gristle, it is very unpalatable. 3 large pieces of beef had gristle & veins. The chef should trim the meat so you only get edible food. Will not return.

Shangri-La is quite possibly the best Chinese takeaway I’ve ever had. It deserves a much higher rating than it’s got currently, in my opinion. The food is delicious and always piping hot. I’ve tried various dishes now and they’re always fresh and tasty. The fish and chips is really fantastic too. The staff are super friendly and pleasant. I honestly can’t rate this place highly enough. Try the beef in black bean!

We’ve Lived locally in nearby village for years and have been extremely disappointed with our local Chinese takeaways. However we discovered this gem of a Chinese takeaway. Lovely, friendly welcome, complimentary bottle of drink and prawn crackers. Food was fantastic and inexpensive compared to poorer takeaways we have had. Highly recommended!

On only my third visit the owner was rude and aggressive. I only wanted to change my order but this seemed to be a problem for him. I only went for the curry sauce. The chips and other things are VERY MEDIOCRE IE the sort of stuff they buy from Chinese wholesalers. Go to Al-Kebabera across the road. Better food and much cheaper. And they deliver free for orders over £12.

This take away is the only one I use I drive 10-12 miles from hemel to chesham as the fish is outa this world and they do THE BEST batter on fish,always greeted with a smile very prompt service,always fresh and tasty fish chips and curry sauce ideas highly recommend this place to all my friends and family thanks again for a lovely dinner

I came here for a Saturday night takeaway a few weeks ago. Ordered my meal but told cash only. No problem, this was communicated in a friendly way. Got back 10 minutes later fully expecting to have to replace my order and wait. No, order ready, and paid for in less than 30 seconds. Now that is customer service. Food high quality. Will definitely be going back. Thank-you!

We've been meaning to try the Shangri La for a takeaway for a while and finally did tonight - what a great choice! Delicious food (my personal favourite was the squid dish) and the kids loved it. Excellent value and the staff were really friendly. We'll be back!

Just had our first takeaway from Shangri-La - based on two recommendations - and we thought it was great value, very nice food, and very good service. We'll be back!

We ordered large veggie spring rolls and they said ok and then ones we started eating them we found that that the other had chicken inside so we called up and they said "WELL YOU SHOULD HAVE ORDERED THE VEGGIE ONES THEN"then hung up the phone

Ordered over the phone, the gentleman on the other end was friendly and helpful, and told me to collect 20 minutes later. I was greeted with a smile and really lovely service; the food was hot when I got it home and was by far the most delicious Chinese I've had in a long time- I'm converted! I won't go elsewhere again!

Used to like this place but no anymore no visited for well over a year due to that when i ordered something a lady ordered after me and she received her food before me, which then other people got their food which made me wait for about half hour which is inconciderate so im not going back here again

As the header states. I can't comment on the fish or chips but I've never had a bad bit of Chinese food from this establishment. You can even ask for things to be altered from the menu if you require, extra chilli etc...

Food below average. The man who served it was very unfriendly. He gave me the impression i was not welcome there, as if i was putting him out. Will not be going back.

Fabulous venue, great value food and attentive staff. We booked a table upstairs and the place had a very welcoming atmosphere.

What a find! I don't order take out much this place has had me there almost four times this month! It's clean, tastes fantastic, reasonable prices and the owner is lovely. I've just realised they have a nice range of choice and I cant wait to go back for more
