Everything dry!! Dry chips, dry salt and pepper squid!!! On top of that no free prawn crackers even though we spent of £40!!! Won't be going back

I placed an order on New Years Eve to the total of £50. The food was all inedible, I had never tasted duck like they delivered .. it was already ‘shredded’ with just bones and fat delivered. I took the food back to the restaurant’ the following day. ‘They do not issue refunds due to taste or dislikes’. Appalling, dirty restaurant, AVOID.

Ordered via their website. They accepted the order then told me they couldn’t deliver it and wouldn’t refund so I’d have to call the website company to try and get my money back

Best Chinese takeaway in Chelmsford. I literally order every week from this place. The lady at the reception is very friendly with a nice smile. Even the kitchen staff are polite and both delivery and collection is satisfactory.

Would give zero stars if I could. Food never came and they refuse a refund.

Just had our first take away from Shanghai House. We ordered direct with them on a Saturday afternoon and it arrived a fsir bit quicker than expected which was a bonus. The food was very tasty and I'm a little fussy. Some places can be greasy, but their dishes were lovely. I will definately be going back.

Full of regret for an impulse Just Eat order. Order had things missing. Crispy chilli beef was just that...with no sauce at all. A few sad carrot strips. Even the seaweed starter was mainly just salt. The rice was ok

Food arrived after an hour and 20 minutes and was stone cold, all the set meal was thrown into one round foil tray not separate, rice was inedible no flavour, duck spring rolls were awful lacked filling or flavour, honestly the worst Chinese I’ve had, wish I’d looked on here before ordering.

We tried this for the first time and every dish was perfect, better than any other Chinese near us. We will be using Shanghai from now on. Prefect food.

I’ve previously enjoyed this restaurant but latest takeaway was disgusting. The pancake roll was filled with bean sprouts only and tasted weird. The duck for the pancakes was full of bone splinters. Completely inedible.

I telephoned to complain and they said that they couldn’t refund as how could they be sure that the reason Munson was sick was due to their food. The chilli beef was a greenish colour instead of orange and the fact that my son was sick 10 minutes later is all the confirmation needed. They said that they would send a driver out to collect the meal I said that was fine as it wasn’t eaten. Guess what? They didn’t show up. When I called them for the 5th time they said that I should throw the food away. Apparently they have very high food standards. Please, please avoid. I hardly ever do reviews but needed to warn people 🤢

Ordered from here with my family, curry sauce was really lumpy, they forgot the egg fried rice so I called to ask for them to bring it, they said they would bring it and it never turned up, chicken dish was awful, looked so pale, would never recommend this chinese, such a shame as always used to order from here, barely edible

We ordered through JustEat at around 6 o’clock this evening for delivery at 8.30. We’re still waiting for our food to arrive! The app says it’s been delivered, but, despite several hopeful glances at the doorstep, it indeed is not there. Maybe some pesky foxes have stolen the whole lot? We are of course expecting a full refund.

Delivery was quickly and the food was hot when it arrived. Unfortunately the food was not good. I think it’s the worst Chinese takeaway I’ve ever had which was such a shame. We ended up only eating the dumplings and the duck and pancakes and even these were not the best we’ve had before. Late night curry and house special egg foo yong. Huge portions! Not a great deal of spiciness in the curry (unlike the Siam Wok next door!) and no Soy Sauce sachets to take away.

Absolutely vile place! My food turned up 15 minute late (wasn’t that bother by that to be honest) but when it did turn up the chicken balls I ordered where pink in the middle, my spring roll (well if you would like to call it that) was full of grey smelly bean sprouts one bit of chicken and a random prawn wasn’t even cooked properly and smelt as if it was out of date. The egg fried rice I ordered smelt as if it was off and looked grey. When I phoned and spoke to the manager he was very rude and stated that I cannot get my money back as I had already started eating it? How am I meant to know it tasted bad unless I was to start eating it. I didn’t eat the things that smelt but as was so hungry I ate the things which seemed to look ok but turned out to be revolting. He was very rude to me and refused to give my money back please avoid this place it’s truly vile!

This is my first review I’ve ever done on a restaurant, but it was THAT terrible I have to. I ordered roast duck in plum sauce. I received fried breaded chicken with sweet and sour sauce on. I rang and sent them a photo of my food assuming I had been given the wrong order, to which they argued it was ‘duck in plum sauce’. It was absolutely bizarre. The man on the phone was extremely angry and aggressive. I have reported them to the Food Safety Standards as to serve a completely different meat to the one advertised is absolutely unacceptable. Do not order from this Chinese, even the correct orders were absolutely terrible!

Lovely Chinese!!!! We tried the salt and pepper prawns EXTRA HOT!!! Soooooooooo delicious. And my usual Roast Pork Fried Rice and a spicy beef curry, all loaded on to a crispy perfectly formed prawn cracker

Looking at the menu it all sounded great. But once we ordered we ask for it in an hour (too give them enough time to prepare our food). Went to pick up and had to wait 15 minutes for the food. Then they asked me to pay twice. Got home and my fish wasn’t what I ordered. My girlfriends dish had egg in it, in which we specifically asked to not have egg in. Had to go back and get my actual order and the women gave me prawn crackers. By the time I got back to eat the food was cold and my girlfriends fish was very bland and just wasn’t nice. Never going there again. Shame as it was very close to our home.

ordered at 17:30 and was informed food would be delivered at 18:15. at 18:40 food still hadn't arrived so i call the restaurant to find out how long it would be. the man on the phone said he would contact the driver and call me straight back. 15 minutes had gone by and still no call back. so i called a 2nd time to get a update to which he then informed me that there was a road accident and that is why my food was delayed but should be its me shortly. fair enough! when the driver finally did arrive with my food she then asked for the payment to which i told her i had paid by card... great communication between the driver and restaurant! so had sat down and started eating the starters with my sister to which we became full and didn't even bother on the main course. so i put it in the fridge for my partner to have when he got home from work. NOW here's the kicker! when my partner came home from work i heated him up some chow mein and crispy shredded beef. he had made it through a 1/4 of the plate before he bit into a BIG, DIRTY NAIL!! and it wasn't even a small one. it was a chunky, brown nail! he immediately ran to the toilet to vomit it all back up! This is absolutely disgusting and unacceptable! where is your food health and safety? are you unaware that kitchen staff are meant to keep their nails short and clean??! i will never order from here again and strongly recommend no one does. its a complete waste of money, the rest of the food went to the bin.
