Shanghai Chinese Takeaway in Thanet

Title speaks for itself, literally nothing on the menu that I’ve ordered that I didn’t love. Chowmein, curry, satay, seaweed, wontons etc.. Always fresh tasting, piping hot and great quality. Let us also take a moments silence for the chicken balls…. Could not recommend enough!

I am sad to say it was the worst Chinese I've had and some was unbeatable. The chicken balls had something in the middle that was soft and almost spreadable. No way was it chicken. The rice had tiny bits of bone in which broke my filling which cost me over £70 today. The chow mein was bland and again the 'chicken in it was vile. I thought it was uncooked fish. We spent £80 yesterday. The beef dish again the beef looked boiled. The Singapore noodles were too spicy to eat. Other dishes included squid and king prawns but I didn't eat those. Won't go back. Only went as my usual one was closed. Worst birthday meal I've ever had!

Good house special rice and lemon chicken….all served quickly and hot. Good experience and easy to recommend..

£6.90 now for a Duck Curry with fried rice, a rise of over £1 since my last visit, and to make matters worse a very small quantity of duck meat. Service was pleasant and fast delivery, but the value is just not there.

Duck curry with Fried rice, average taste and quality, and a smaller portion than I have been served before. There was also a mix up about the added vegetables, but it was ready in less than ten minutes, and served hot.

We got a takeaway and the food was really good. We were surprised how fresh it tasted and overall excellent!

Just moved to the area so used this chinese takeaway for the first time today. Phoned up to order and was told could collect in 20 minutes. Food was hot and tasty and the service impeccable. Had a spicy chicken curry, chow mein, prawn toast and chicken balls, all great.Will definitely use again. Thank you, Sean.

My usual Duck Curry with Fried Rice, and at £5.60 amazing value, I have paid over £9 for the same thing at other places locally! Duck was roasted, not boiled, tasty sauce, and plenty of it. Fried Rice was cooked well, not soggy, with a pleasant texture and flavour.

Another excellent takeaway, with large portions and excellent tasting food. Thanks again you are the best !

Had not been here for a number of years,but was glad to have come back,it has improved a lot. By far the best value in Margate,and with fast and pleasant service. £5.30 for duck Curry and Fried rice. Good amount of duck,roasted with tasty skin left on.

The food is good and service friendly, my only complaint is that they dont take credit cards in this day and age, they tell you to go to the cash machine which is a bit of a walk and you encounter all sorts of people hanging around.

Regular on line orders are always delivered within the time quoted and so far, no problems. Portions are always generous and hot. The staff are always happy to discus the food as my wife is a Fussy eater with allergies! Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.

This was our third meal from New Shanghai and every time the food has been delicious. Flavoursome mains, perfect rice and tasty chips. The service is great too and they are very friendly. Highly recommend.

We were recommended this place by some of our airbnb guests, so we thought we would give it a try. Not disappointed - it was fab! Tasty ribs, crispy duck, prawn toast, Szechuan, and a veggie dish which was delicious (can't remember what it was called though). We ordered around £70 of food for 6 of us and completely over ordered. Portions were really generous.

well I have had 2 meals delivered now both have been hot and freshly cooked enjoyed everything that was sent and the lady who takes the orderes is lovely too they accomadate your needs and work hard to send the perfect meal thanks all there from Linda

Have been having takeaway for a few months, can't fault the beautiful food, the staff and the delivery. 1st class and my family love it too. Will be a long standing customer. Won't go anywhere else.

This is the place to order dinner. I do often. Nothing is to much trouble change your food to suit yourself. Don't like something ask them to leave it out no trouble. Very friendly.

Very polite staff both on the telephone and in person, Ordered food for collection - special chow mein, mixed vegetables and sweet and sour chicken balls. The food was ready on time and very tasty with good portion sizes. I find the food quite greasy with some Chinese takeaways but this was not the case for the New Shanghai. Couldn't decide whether to give 4 or 5 but complimentary prawn crackers for a smallish order coupled with the lively staff pushed it to a 5. Will definitely come here again :)

Wonderful noodles, I could eat here everyday. Great value for money. They do need to invest in a card machine though.

There is a distinct lack of good Chinese takeaways in Margate, most of them are so awful we threw away the entire meal.

Gorgeous meal I had Duck with pancakes, great quality duck! They let me change the sauce to capital as I don’t like hoisin sauce. I had egg fried rice with it which was also tasty, my friend had special Fo young which they polished off and said was really nice. The food was hot and delivery wasn’t too long, very happy with my order would definitely order again this wasn’t the 1st time and won’t be the last.

Very nice friendly service and the food is really good and plentiful. Cooked properly which is most important ! Would recommend for takeaway Chinese food in Cliftonville.

Brilliant Chinese!! Finally found a great Chinese takeaway in Thanet. Best one I've tried and I've tried many. Portion sizes are good, friendly family run it and the food is lovely. Salt and pepper squid and wings are soo good and the Singapore chow mein is delicious. Found it about a year ago and haven't been anywhere else since.

We were served by friendly staff.The meals were tasty,a good sized portion and not greasy.We enjoyed the Fried Rice meals.

Best chinese around in my opinion. The crispy chilli beef is like no other around here. Also love the mixed satay and kung po chicken - cant recommend this takeaway enough and they are very nice and welcoming. Will only go here for chinese takeaway now and have tried alot of the local takeaways - this is definately the best for the dishes that I like - havent tried them all so cant comment but if you want a great meal order the following - crispy chilli beef, mixed satay, kung po chicken, spice chicken. This chinese also seems to be very cheap but with very high standard food for a takeaway.

Egg foo Young was very good and enjoyable so we're the spring rolls, the noodles I wasn't too keen on but apart from those everything else was good, will go again
