By far best place to chill out and dine with family. Being a chef I can definitely say it's authentic Indian food and pub. Restaurant area is warm and inviting for families. Should definitely give it a try .

Just collected our evening meal and what a delight it was. Cooked to our liking and delicious. I was served by Menprit a delightful young lady with a smile. I would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant to anyone seeking a good meal at a reasonable cost.....

The delivery man complimented my rat so that was great! Takes a little while to get here but only about an hour or less, and it's great knowing your food is made fresh! I love the shamrat and I recommend it, it hits every time. We spent about 60 pound for 5 people, and we are beyond full! The portions are very great. I LOVE THE SHAMRAT 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿❤️🔥🔥

once again a great experience, 12 of us booked in we had the separate dining area, treated brilliantly by all the staff, food superb, and catered for odd requests not strictly on the menu. when they found out it was mums 99th birthday supplied an ice-cream cake and candle, even sang happy birthday.

Recently moved to the area so ordered for collection. Restaurant looked nice and clean and helpful staff. I ordered a butter chicken and chicken tikka massala. The butter chicken had a deep layer of butter ghee that I had to pour off and remove the rest with a spoon. All you could taste was the ghee and it ruined it. The massalla was tasty plenty of meat but my plate was full with water. The keema nan was the best I've had and nice mint sauce. Samosa were awfully greasy. I was disappointed for the money spent. I won't be so quick to return.

Great visit there, food is great, spice is exactly what you expect when ordering. Staff are really good and attententive and reasonably priced.

Have frequent take always from here. They have sometimes made an error with the order but always correct without any fuss. The food is delicious always. A hidden gem.

A said in the title, this Restaurant is friendly and the service is terrific. I take my family there often to relax after a busy Sunday. I can honestly say that I, unlike my family, do not like Indian food, but here they listen to the needs and always deliver.

We have been going to the Shamrat now for over 10 years and it is by far the best. Do not let the area put you off!! The food is always amazing and the staff really make it even better. They will really look after you and meet any needs you have. We come here for any occasion and also often get a takeaway. Whenever eating in the take aways are constantly busy which shows really how good it is. They also do a Sunday buffet which is definitely great value for money!

Back to its Best again, went downhill with last owner .But since Haq has come back front of house and kitchen are back to there best .Menu is very good and varied , the staff will do there utmost to make sure you are happy and have an enjoyable time. We now visit when ever we can and are so pleased to have it on our door step. Give it a try ,you don't know what you are missing.

I travel up and down the country and the chicken byrani has to be one of the best I've teased as was the chicken tikka dry as a main cause, chicken was so tender. The poppadoms and sundaes were excellent as well.

was fantastic news to hear that mr haq is back in charge i was a regular 15 years ago when he first opened stopped going when haq left to try a new venture as the service went down hil and was not the same place but now normal with haq has resumed with the warm welcome feeling front &back of house staff always aplesure never a core so if your acurry holic like me the only place in cardiff to have a curry is the shamrat best value for money you can get so get on down there you wont be disapointed i have take away at leat once a week

Myself and my husband popped in for an unplanned evening out, we haven't visited The Shamrat for many years but I am sure we will be regulars from now on. The food was cooked to perfection, tasty, hot and delicious. All the staff were so polite, helpful and very friendly. In my opinion (and I am rather fussy) this place is a little gem and without a doubt we will be returning. Lovey little touch at the end of the meal with a personalised Christmas card. Give it a try, I promise you won't be dissapointed.

The staff are some of the most friendly and helpful I have come across in a Indian Restaurant. The food was excellent, quick service and sensibly priced.

As frequent diners and take away orders it's good to report a restaurant that does both to an excellent standard no matter what day of the week we use them. As a group of friends that meet up frequently and vary our dining experience to all types of food it is not often we return to the same establishment, but the Shamrat is the exception.

Our 2nd visit here. We returned as we had really enjoyed the first experience. This time we had some traditional favourites and tried a couple of new dishes. We were not disappointed. Food is excellent. Staff are all very friendly and take time to get to know you and make recommendations. Our only disappointment was that it is not our local but we will be back again!!

Poor service…. it took very long for the starters to be served, the plates from the starters were not cleared away, but left on the tables until the main course had been eaten …. I bought half a pint of black currant and soda - hardly any fizz in the soda, the drink was not cold, it was flat and tasteless- and I was charged £2.95 for it! Never again.

Really Horrible food. Chicken tikka masala tasted liked a desert. Don't waste your money if you are looking for Indian food.

Always a lovely warm atmosphere and the staff are welcoming and friendly. The food is always constantly great and flavoursome. It is a great takeaway and great to stay and eat in, a real hidden GEM.

Our first time here. Having been several Indian restaurants in Cardiff so far it would say this one is the best. Spacious, foods are delicious and the service was impressive. Prices may not be competitive enough (based on this location) but it’s worth to return and definitely will do so. Last but not least, it is easy to imagine how popular this restaurant is in this area from the take away orders we spotted during the 1.5 hours dinner.

Terrible food rice swimming in water, nan bread swimming in oil, no salad with starters and mint sauce was like mint sauce you put on a roast dinner small portions too, had a chicken madras curry there was plenty of chicken but not enough sauce, nearly £50 for a take away meal for 2 absolute rip off too 🤬

Just called to order a takeaway. Cash only. Why? Cancelled order on principle. There’s only one reason why establishments only take cash. Previously collected takeaway from here - last year. Strangely, they were having problems with payments and only able to accept cash then….. Very disappointing as the food is usually very good

Went there Saturday 29th april for a takeaway, the place looks spotless , the service was good although it was quiet at 9.00 pm. The meal was most probably the best I have tasted in Cardiff, chicken was well cooked and large pieces in both meals , I would recommend this curry house to everybody. Pros: Ok curry (heat aside)- looked clean inside. Cons: only take cash- had to travel twenty minutes to ATM and curry cold by time got back. They weren’t prepared to accept card. Get with the times guys!

Recently moved to Marshfield and heard about this restaurant from a relative who lives close by and highly recommended it so thought we would give it a try, so pleased we did the food is stunning the staff are so friendly definitely the best takeaway we have had so pleased to have found this little gem.

Both takeaway and eat in are always top notch. The guys there are so nice and friendly. They have amazing food and it’s fairly priced. Biggest top is to order the naan bread. It’s so huge and fluffy and the garlic one is to die for!

Highly rated place , with mixed blessings. Completely empty on a mid week visit , but it was January. First impressions was that it was cold inside. Bless. The energy crisis is hitting hard. But manageable. Decor is not overly fancy , nor the plain white plates. Waiters looked smart in black. Service was friendly. No hot drinks though ( coffee jug behind the bar sat staring at me ) and I could not drink chiiled stuff when it was six degrees. Music was interesting. Started off as traditional Asian with s singer but later became a trendy modern pop synth. The best of all was the food. REALLY good quality. Large portions. Very tasty. My captain special was lamb in a tamarind sauce. Very tasty. Lemon rice was lemony , peshwari naan soft and tasty. I really reccomend the place.

I'll give this place 10 out of 10 for ther food nice and tasty but the only thing if you go in the winter make sure you wear a hat,scarf coat bloody cold in ther no heating on brrrrrrr
