Shampan in Castle Point

Shampan now last 2 years now named Everest Tandoori-could not find a listing under the new name…. We have been using this very local takeaway for over 18 months now and the food has been good but the service has been appalling we have had the wrong food delivered, we have collected only to get home to find dishes missing on 2 occasions. This time we waited nearly 90 minutes at 6pm on a Sunday. I called up to be told it was on its way only for it to be another 15 mins and I can walk there in 2 minutes. Maybe one more try and that’s it…..ridiculous service 😩

We have used the Shampan for 15 or more years, but they changed hands a couple of years ago, the first takeaway wasn’t up to their usual standards but was edible, but the last meal was awful, apart from the fact that it looked a mess, it didn’t taste good we threw most of it away, we haven’t used them since 😞

Our favourite take away, the food is always fantastic and piping hot. Not the cheapest but definitely the best, you only get what you pay for

Absolutely horrendous take away. Prawns like pebbles in a watery sauce. Chicken Korma was like a sugary desert. Almost all inedible. Chucked £40 of food in the bin. Like previous reviewer, this used to be a good option in Benfleet. Never again.

After having a poor meal a month ago thought I them would give benefit of the doubt and try again. OMG Chicken Dhansak tasted like someone had poured two pints of sugar in it, it was vile and after two mouthfuls threw it away, sag bhajee looked liked it had been cooked and then air dried, there was probably four spoonfuls and the tray was half full. Undercooked bhajees, ordered early obliviously got yesterday’s left over naan bread. 3 people’s dinner cost £43 If I had paid what it was worth I reckon 40p would be pushing it. This used to be the best Indian in benfleet years ago now probably the worst in the country.

Well what can I say other than the best in BENFLEET. From the front desk staff, lovely lovely people... the same welcome manner is given via the telephone too. We as a family order every sat night and never disappointed. Hot food, always right, always on time (Pre book our time)... and always polished off now that’s what I call an amazing takeaway!! Thank you to all the team at Shampan 👏🏻🍦🚍 Empty plate shows how nice it really is 💙💙

Ordered takeaway through Just Eat. The food arrived in good time but the quality was absolutely awful. Easily the worst Indian takeaway I've ever had. The tikka masala was bright red (food colouring), bland and generically sweet. The sag aloo had a horrible flavour, something wrong with the spinach. The vegetable rice was bland. The bhindi bhaji was unpleasant. Even the naan bread was below par, cold and chewy, almost as if cooked a few hours ago and left out on the side. Needless to say, will not be ordering from Shampan again.

We used to be fans of the raj poot at tarpots until it closed , we found and have been using the shampan for our Indian takeaways ever since , The Food , service and Delivery times are spot on , The Shampan Beats the local competition hands down ,

We ordered a collection for first time during lockdown and we were very impressed with the quality of the dishes, looking forward to a further take out soon.

Have used this takeaway for at least five years .. always lovely high quality food .... however spent over £40 last night and the food was disgusting!! The chicken rubbery everything tasteless and salty .. prawn puri watery and tested of nothing .. actually think it had been defrosted!! Need to find out if there are different chefs on different nights ... clearly one needs to be sacked !! Not sure after all these years if we would take the chance and use them again ... what a shame Shampan 😡😔

Second time ordering a takeaway on a Saturday night and both times our food had been outstanding. Last nights chicken dansak was the best we have ever had and our daughters had a prawn rogan which they also loved. Everything was delicious with big portions and it was delivered on time too. Would highly recommend

Ordered a meal for our family from "Shampan",I would not recommend. Our order took an hour and a half and when it arrived it was cold and was the wrong order. So then we had to wait another 30 mins for the correct order which also turned up cold. So it's safe to say we will NEVER use this establishment again.

5 years ago I lived round the corner from Shampan and always got my Indian from there. I have since moved a couple of miles away and now use a different takeaway. Because of the lock-down, my takeaway was closed so I ordered from Shampan. Just over an hour for delivery was ok in the current climate and the food was piping hot, hence two stars. My naga chicken was swimming in oil and my partner’s biryani was ok but bland. Not a patch on Pink Chilliz!!

Best Indian food I've had for some time. Great taste full of flavour. Excellent I will definitely use this restaurant again and would highly recommend

We have used Shampan since it opened, and have always found it good value for money, restaurants can vary according to particular taste bud for the area, but our friends have always enjoyed their cuisine.

We have been going to the shampan every Saturday night for years and sometimes during the week. We haven't ordered from there for a couple of months as the food was bland the Bombay potatoes hard the madras the chicken was hard and chewy.ordered tonight not good wish we hadn't bothered. It turned up it was cold flavourless, with chewy chicken. Did phone up shampan and complain a lady phoned us back apologised said when we order again we can have our next takeaway half price no good will definitely not be eating shampan again. We tried it tonight as we are having family staying next week and thought Saturday we would have takeaway well it won't be from the shampan. Dont know why the food was cold as live less than 5 minutes away. It's a shame the quality has gone downhill as the food used to be lovely.

Ordered food at 5pm when they opened, went to pick up at 530 pm when they said it was ready, was told at 6pm chefs are not here yet stuck in traffic on A13, that’s a lie, travelled on the A13 to get the Indian, sailed through. Have not had one from here for 3 months, dhansak water sauce, korma not enough sauce and my daughter has chips with korma, half the chips were raw. Do yourself a favour and avoid as rubbish and £50 for a takeaway which I cooked better myself some four days earlier for £10, only went there for my birthday to save me cooking. These people need to shut down as the food was dreadful and after complaining said “we will give you a free dish next time” sorry chaps won’t be a next time if you last another 6 months I will be astonished. Clowns

Been going there for years and got to know the staff and enjoyed the food. Always good service and food.Since the refurb the staff have changed and so has the food.It was the best in the area but sad to say no more.Disappointed the first time after the refurb but put it down to a “ bad day”. Have been back several times but it it’s no better.The prices are up and the standard has gone down with inconsistent dishes, missing items and what looks like a general cut back all round. Shame! I have recommended Shampan in the past but not now, it’s just another Indian take away.Not bad but it’s gone down in my estimation. Will be going elsewhere.

Wouldn’t even give this 1 star. Chicken tasted like a bouncy ball. Keema naan has brown sh*t in it. Coconut rice was pilau with a bit of coconut mixed in. Wouldn’t recommend to my worst enemy.

Good food but £60 for takeaway for 4 when some do it for £25, big mistake shampan say goodbye to all your customers.!!!!

I don’t know what’s gone wrong but they can’t even run a system. Taking more orders than they can copewith. Waited 1 hour 15 minutes for a takeaway. I think I’ll ask credit card for a refund. Could have bought it and cooked it myself!

Great Take away, always fresh and hot went it arrives. Staff are always helpful with menu choices. only wish this was a eat in restaurant. Food has always been yummy!

We have been using this take away for 15 years, and have never had a disappointing meal. The onion bhajees are the best we have ever had. Would recommend to anyone fancying a good Indian take away.

Mi marido y yo hemos estado utilizando el hindú para llevar por 10 años. Recientemente hemos sido muy decepcionado. Mi marido no por teléfono la última vez, la comida no tenía un buen sabor extraño sabor, pero de nuevo esta noche fue soso, insípido y muy caliente. Es realmente molesto cuando tu esperando su noche de sábado curry y realmente no es bueno. Ambos tuvimos pollo madras, arroz, papas bombay con pan naan. Igual

Tenía una para llevar en la noche del miércoles. Orden de entrega relativamente rápido y la comida estaba caliente.

Use de this takeaway for a couple of years on & off,food is good but portions are skimpy,not cheap either, containers usually 3/4 full,dissapointing

Another excellent meal with no fuss and delay. Order taken faultlessly and was ready when they said it would be. The meal was really flavourful and hard to fault. This is the second time I have been impressed by this place. We will be back

after visiting most the takeaways in and around the area, this one is far the best. Tasty, great flavours, great service. Would highly recommend.

Haber probado la mayoría de los indios comida para llevar en Benfleet, el Shampan ciertamente no es el más cercano, pero con mucho nuestro favorito. Sin duda lo recomiendo!

Ordered from the Shampan last month as it used to be our local and since moving sadly the Spice Garden closed leaving us searching for a reliable replacement.We were very pleased to find the Shampan as good as we remembered it.So we ordered again to be certain it was no fluke.This time we chose : ZalZalla Chicken, Achariya Lamb and Chicken Tikka Mirchi with rice and vegetable bhajee.Absolutely superb, full of flavour and exactly what was needed. A truly great tasting meal and being as good as our last confirms it was no fluke.If you haven't given The Shampan a try then don't delay your order you will not be disappointed.

Just had a take away chicken Madras from the Shampan. It was very hot and extremely tasty, with it I had Bombay potatoes andMushroom Bahji. The flavours where superb and the food arrived lovely and hot. I have tried Indian takeaways in Benfleet but from my experience you can't beat the food quality of the Shampan. The sauce is lovely and rich with lots of flavours would fully recommend this restuarant

This used to be our local Take away until we moved and was then replaced by the Spice garden. For take away and restaurant visits.Sadly the Spice garden is gone and a bland and tasteless Amala has risen in its place, leaving us struggling for a good Indian meal.So tonight we tried The Shampan after a long break, oh my god what a fantastic meal,Full of flavour lovely quality meat, totally faultless.This is the best Indian meal I have had in months, thank you and do not lose your chef.

We now only order our Indian takeaway from here, we have it delivered it is the best Indian Take away in the area and there are many others.The food is always well cooked and delicious, and arrives at the time they state.They are very obliging if you wish a dish to be milder or hotter.

Food and service is great. Very clean and only wished we had found this takeaway sooner.On our first use we wanted too see the premises so ordered takeaway as opposed to delivery. The staff were very helpful and gave excellent advice as to what dishes we may like........and they were absolutely right. Our experience of delivery service has always been good, they always get to us within the time given.

Been using this indian takeaway for 5 years since lived in this house, food is good but recommend you collect as the delivery service is very poor. Phone up to order they are answering other phones so put you on hold or taking orders from walk ins. Very poor order service. Waited over an hour in the past for delivery. Is the food worth waiting for yes,but be prepared for poor service and unhelpful staff when you phone to find out where your food is. Also had under cooked Bombay potatoes so don't recommend them. But general curries good. But poor service.
