Shamim Balti in Leicester

I've always had a tasty fresh curry from here. Yum yum!

Absolutely bang on good value for money. Great service delivery was on time food was hot . The spices was infused differently best Indian ever.

The food was outstanding! Everything I ordered was full of flavour and cooked to perfection. I was super impressed with the restaurant’s professionalism and customer service and my food was delivered on time and piping hot. I highly recommend the Shamim Balti Restaurant 10/10.

This is the last time…. Ordered food on their App, and then waited, and waited and waited.!! Over 2 hours later it arrived…… The curry was warm, the rice was cold and the nan-bread was stiff. This has happened before , but I’m all for giving people a second chance. Third chances are not available. Out

Such poor service, called up to try to sort an issue, the guy was so rude and couldn't understand the simple issue, he tried to blame me that I ordered wrong and that nothing can be done, will never order from here again, keema naan with no keema.

Used them a couple of times, without issue, a few years ago. This time truly appalling. The full order was not delivered, but we couldn't work out what was missing because it was so poorly labelled and we couldn't work out which dish was which. When my housemate went round and asked for a refund he was refused. Definitely not worth £30. The food was lukewarm even though we live just round the corner. Avoid.

My favourite takeaway. Always really good quality, great value and delivered promptly. Tried an array of their food, but settled on the chicken masala - a good blend of spice and seasoning. Have a good choice of great value set meals.

Moved to the area recently and wanted to try the local Indian. Considering Leicester has so many good curry places I thought we couldn’t go wrong. I was extremely disappointed on the quality of the food. It was bland, tasteless except for a burnt taste of the poppadoms. The only good thing was the delivery was quick and driver very pleasant. I will go elsewhere unless they up their game considering their competition in Leicester.

Thought we had a found a nice Indian that delivered later on. However, we found the longest hair intertwined through the whole masala. Pulled it out of my mouth and it was all wrapped in my teeth. Things happen I get it. But no apology or refund. If you want nice food it's good. If your meal isn't up standard and/or you don't like 10inch hair in your teeth ... Don't expect these to give a....

Been using shaming on just eat for a while, decided to pop in and collect last Friday, parking is a struggle down the side street but the service and food is always a hit. Quite empty for a weekend night but I'd definitely stay for a meal in the future

Honestly one of the best Indians in Leicester, we have only ever ordered as a takeaway but always comes hot and they always send the little extras like poppadoms, pickle trays & salad, if you haven’t tried the special balti already & bombay aloo where have you been? Perfect everytime, thank you x

The food is absolutely outstanding, delicious 🤤 I would like to thank everyone who working hard for us over the year and years. I am a regular customer of Samim Balti and I am quite sure it is the best restaurant in Leicester. Specifically staters are nice food, chicken tikka, Tanduri Mix Gril, Onion baji, Somosa!!!!

Wow! Well, what can I say? Don't usually have Indian food takeaway, as it never seems to be as good as when eating in. However, this has changed everything! Food was delivered quickly, driver was immaculately presented and very pleasant. Everything was piping hot and just as ordered, with the additional bonus of a couple of poppadoms. Taste and quality of every single dish was fabulous, couldn't fault it. Would definitely recommend and will be using again - what a great find for the start of a new year.

Food was great, but takeaway menu states free delivery for orders over £10. I just put an online order in for £25 and got charged further £2.50 delivery charge. You need to sort your menu and make things correct ASAP!

Meal all ways nice but deliveray getting to be a joke 3 and half hours wait last time 2 hour wait this time won,t rush to order again

Been ordering from Shamim’s balti for years, the food always arrived Luke warm but we accepted that and still ordered from them due to enjoying the food so much nevertheless. Ordered on New Year’s Eve knowing that they would be busy, was given an hour wait time. An hour and half later we called back having still not received our food, was told that ‘the food must be on its way because there’s no ticket in the kitchen’. 25 minutes later , (2 hours from ordering) and the food still hadn’t arrived so we called again, we was told again food was on the way. Well another half hour later and we’re trying to call them as we still didn’t have the food, no answer for about 15 minutes when we decided to just order and collect from somewhere else. The man on the phone was rude on each cal despite us being polite he wouldn’t let any of us finish a sentence before he interrupted so he clearly wasn’t listening to what we was actually asking him. He was also speaking to other people whilst he was on the phone and saying that he was going to knock them out. 3 hours after ordering the food they finally answered the phone and we told them to cancel as we were gonna go somewhere else, was just told ‘ok I’ll cancel it’ by the man on the phone and no apology and clearly food wasn’t on its way. Won’t be ordering from here again, it’s completely understandable that you’re busy but a bit of customer service goes a long way, especially when you’re a loyal customer.

Over two hours to deliver, with no warning that it would take so long. When it arrived, they had the price wrong .The food was lukewarm, despite the fact that I'm only five minutes away. The chicken was dry, the rice broken into a mush. It was repulsive and went straight in the bin. This is not the first poor takeaway I've had from Shamim, but it will be the last. All their food is poorly prepared, greasy, sloppy and just naff. I've once found a rogue bit of chicken in a paneer tikka (thank god I'm not vegetarian). They are cheap but still a waste of money. Never again.

Had a take away from here. Don’t bother ever eating from this place. The food was like warm when it eventually arrived. (The delivery driver was drunk) when I’d warmed food up the quality was awful. Curry was so bland the meat was tough and chewy and the next day I was sick with vomiting and diarrhoea. DO NOT TOUCH WITH A BARGE POLE!

Tasty food good quantity for what you pay and also fast service. Would definitely recommend trying this place the food is 10/10 👌

This is by far my favourite take away for Indian food so far. One down fall is they don't always deliver what you order which has happened half of the time, but the food is absolutely delicious and prices very well. Fast delivery is usual and they always appear friendly on the phone. The website is easy to use too. Plus they have an app to order.

Worst Indian food I have eaten in a restaurant, the vegetable balti had potato’s and cabbage, no other vegetables. I wouldn’t have minded as much if it actually tasted of something rather than just grease. The one star is for the chips which were ok. There’s many other restaurants that are a million times better, therefore this will be my first and last visit to Shamim Balti.

I order a take out from here most weekends the meal deal for two are such a great value for money and taste amazing !

Honestly, we have been ordering from Shamim for a couple of years now and I can say, hand on heart, they truly are the best Indian takeaway we’ve ever had. Every dish has a taste of its own and their delivery service is impeccable. Admittedly, they have made mistakes with our order in the past but what makes them 5* is how they deal with any complaints - they offer to rectify it immediately with many apologies and compensation if necessary (after all we are all human right)? Thank you Shamim! You are our favourite!

Didn’t manage to get here before I passed out drunk but then that’s on me and a mate took it in for me and he says the driver didn’t look happy so sorry for that dude my bad! However re-heated it in the morning and it was banging best hangover food I’ve had in a while so must have been even better fresh! Will order from here again!

I ordered a meal for 2 told I wait an hour which was ok hour half later I rang said on way said gave me extra popidoms when the takeaway arrived was charged extra 3 pounds I rang they told me a delivery charge because of covid and said I was not told this when I rang but on menus it’s free delivery I was told to late nothing can be done when I said that is terrible the person hang up on me rang back spoke to manager he apologised I said your employee has know manners talking to customers like that won’t be going back there again disgusting

First time ordering from this place we are 100% ordering again it was absolutely gawjusss!!

I have always loved the food from this place and I order quite a lot because it was good food for good money. Have just tried to order and it turns out to get the food what I would normally order I have not only got to pay the 40p service which I was fine with but know also nearly £3 in delivery which I am very disappointed and unimpressed. Will not be ordering until that is wiped as why know?

Placed an order for collection at 8.15 pm pick up at 9pm Just as im about to leave home i rang them to see if its ready and i was told it would be over an hour before they can do my order ....... Food was tasteless ... you wouldn't give to a dog NEVER AGAIN

I’ve been working in Leicester since October and I use shamim balti at least once a week fantastic food at great a price fantastic curry house

I have had a takeawy from here previously and it was fine so decided to take my wife and son.The food was just tasteless bland and generic, Every indian dish available in the Aldi we could see opposite would have had more taste. The salted lassi was extremely salty and the bill was incorrect. The quality is just not acceptable in a place like Leicester.

I ordered from this place and have been waiting two hours for my food to arrive. I am disgusted - me and my friends have been waiting impatiently for the food to arrive - disaster get together! Upon calling the restaurant half an hour ago to ask where the food is, the person on the other side of the phone seemed agitated, blunt, cutting me off and telling me the food will be leaving soon. Not the type of customer service you expect from a restaurant. I had high hopes but I am very disappointed - take my advice and never order online from here again.

Not been here for a few years. We were the only people in there (Friday night 10.30ish) starters of poppadoms was served with a large pickle tray with very tasty accompaniments.main meals of chicken Tikka curry and Kashmiri chicken curry were filling and perfectly cooked. We will definitely be going there again.

Very basic cooking, found hair in the food. Biryani doesn't look or taste like biryani. I wouldn't buy from this place again. Every dish taste the same. Needs a good chef definitely. Wouldn't recommend anyone....

We sort of randomly stopped in around 11pm to get a couple of naans for the road. But then we looked over the menu and saw how affordable and good a couple of mains were. So we got 2 mains, 2 naan to take away. We had it the next day and wow, delicious, excellent portions, great value. We want to come back for sure! This place is legit.

If you after a nice curry or sizzler Shamim Balti is the place to go. Food is good and service is excellent can’t fault it. Staff are very friendly. For a good evening out can’t fault it.

We have been here more than once now tried week day and weekend to see if its any different when pressured, they have so many orders made for delivery and collection, the restaurant is quiet, small and cosy,Nice place to spend an evening if you want to shut the busy run of the mill world away.The staff are so friendly and treat you with so much respect and kindness, you are looked after all evening from start to finish.The food is of good quantity and taste amazing, i have ventured more into new dishes since going and always have a try of the hubby's food too lol.Good value for money, Starters, mains sides and a drink all x 2 is never gonna be sniffed at for £35 when given great service and relaxed atmosphere all for free, here are a couple of pics of some of what we had, mmmmm.

Keeping it short and tasteless, I mean sweet, well no actually it was tasteless, had a chicken biryanni asked for it medium hot. No heat at all didn't see a single chilli to go with my three bits of chicken, sauce also very bland think it was heinz vegetable soup not biryanni sauce.Ohh and two small meat samosas for £2.10 also bland.

Please don't eat here I am from Yorkshire. The dishes I would give 0 out of 10. Chef has no experience I was in restaurant I ordered chicken balti it was cooked by some one who has no idea what a chicken balti is I was shocked when I had starter on site it was shocking was seek kebabs all red colour in meat no flavor bland. These people are cowboys Bengali cooks that have no idea what Currys should be I advise to Avoid this please

I’ve used this place often over the years, and i find it very hit and miss, its almost as if they have two different chefs and its pot luck which one cooks your meal, the eat in meal is much better than the takeaway i’ve noticed as well. Its a shame i noticed that this is a HALAL restaurant just recently, no way am i supporting that barbaric practice, won’t be using it again after finding that out.

Get takeaways from here all the time have eaten in a few times as well friendly staff and great curry

Lo bueno es el Balti Shamim 2 personas ofrecen no por £30. 00 - 2 con chutneys; 2 poppadoms entrantes; 2 platos principales arroz; 2; 2 y 1 plato de pan verduras. . Ah, y mencioné la botella de vino de la casa incluido? He tenido esta oferta en el restaurante un par de veces.

Food ok for this part of Leicester Could do better on decor and also ensure areas such as window area etc are cleaned

Por dónde empiezo. . . pedimos y me dijeron que no iba a llevar más de 1 hora. Me llamó después de 75 minutos y me dijeron que el conductor sería en la casa de cualquier minuto. . sin excusa. Después de otros 30 minutos aún no era la comida aquí. Llamé y cancelado. Y les dije lo dejas. Pero después de un rato el conductor aún apareció! ! Así que el hambre nos dio extra y compramos la comida. Sin embargo, fue el más insípido curry nunca! El tikka Massala-jeera era como el agua y el otro era el cordero que parecía curry un extraño color blanco! ! ! Bien, sólo había un par de cositas gratis de carne de todos modos! . . Ninguna disculpa. Repugnante EL SERVICIO. Agua - curry. Ni siquiera un 1 estrellas! (y no soy quisquilloso con la comida! Estamos satisfechos con la comida fácilmente gente! )

Sometimes excellent ,sometimes shocking...delivery timescales could mean within 8 hours ,have found size 6 shot in the lamb bhuna and guessing they don't change the oil often...last takeout was so bad...had two days off work...thanks but no thanks!

Constantemente estamos usando para llevar cuando Shamim Balti alojarse en esta zona, en Leicester, la comida ha mejorado sin duda en los últimos meses y siempre nos saludaba con una sonrisa amable. Si vas a comer en el ambiente es moderno y relajante, nada es demasiado para el personal de organizar.

Somos asiduos de la shamim y volvería a mano en decir corazón que hacer la mejor comida. Ya sea para comer o tomar distancia, la comida y el servicio es estupendo. Además, si puedes pedir quitando en línea y te dan una cuenta atrás para cuando está disponible para entrega de las llaves.

Hemos usado este restaurante para ambas y comer en más de 20 años, el personal es fabuloso y la comida siempre es agradable. Aquí es a los próximos 20 años de buena comida y servicio :)

I collected from this restaurant. Service was efficient...no small talk or offer of a drink whilst I wait for my order. When I got home I enjoyed my stater - onion baiji. My main was Chicken tikka masala, veg rice and garlic naan. The masala was extremely runny, it almost tasted like it was a paste watered down. My naan bread was too soft and wasn't cooked enough. The rice was ok. Quite disappointed!

We've been using the Shamin for some years now following a recommend from my sister. The food us always delivered piping hot always tasty only slight complaint of you can call it a complaint is that the delivery time is usually later than told

We often get a takeaway delivered from here but took my elderly parents for a meal and it was excellent, the waiters helped my dad choose a lovely tandoori fish main course which was nice and light and when he spilled his drink they were very attentive and kindly moved us without a complaint. They are willing to cook something that isn't on the menu if you ask them and they can do it. Will be back there very soon.

Visited this place a couple of weeks ago (not sure why tbh - was just in passing). Walked in and there was no customers in this place (which was bit worrying at the time). Ordered some food for takeway just a couple of mains Lamb Tikka and Chicken Shashlick....20 long minutes later got my food to go...Got home to eat with the family and was not impressed at all we ended up not eating any of it, smell was not appealling and tasted coconut! Not sure why as both dishes should not have any trace of this. Called and spoke to who introduced himself as the manager who said there is nothing wrong with the food, I explained we can taste coconot but he was not having any of it!! So I said fine I'll just thro it away and order else where, I would not recommend this place at all due to the service let alone the food. AVOID!!

I would strongly advise to avoid this restaurant... the food is barely edible and the service is appalling. It doesn't really matter you order as it will all taste the same anyway, and it is not even a good taste! The food is bland and even the poppadoms were a joke. It is not even worth complaining as the staff do not care and you never get to see or speak to the manager. So avoid at all costs, there are much better options not too far away!
