Shamim Balti Restaurant in Leicester

Thought we had a found a nice Indian that delivered later on. However, we found the longest hair intertwined through the whole masala. Pulled it out of my mouth and it was all wrapped in my teeth. Things happen I get it. But no apology or refund. If you want nice food it's good. If your meal isn't up standard and/or you don't like 10inch hair in your teeth ... Don't expect these to give a....

The person who delivered my food didn’t come to my destination that I put my food to come I had to walk a good 5 minutes to get my food because the driver didn’t come to the place of delivery

It was the best Chicken Tikka tandoori I've had, I love their jeera rice and the onion bhajis were lovely too.

rice, chips and naan bread was cold. delivery took over 45 mins to arrive. I don't order food to be delivered cold. unacceptable.

Food was amazing! Best Indian takeaway in Leicester. However It was 45/50 minutes late. Fair play to shamim as they texted me to say it’s going to be late and gave me a new time… which was still late but still tasty !

The meal was delivered on time, and items arrived hot. The meal it's self was excellent with lovely flavours ,l was very impressed. The delivery man was also very polite.

Brilliant food! Jeera rice and the chicken tikka madras were superb.

Hate being negative but I have to be honest. Ordered for delivery at 6:10pm, was told it would be 6:35. It got to 6:50 and the app said ‘enjoy your food’. It turned up around 10 mins later, on opening the bag, it seemed warm but once we opened the food it was all luke warm and not hot like normal. It was not enjoyable. Quite disappointed as we use here a lot and normally don’t have one complaint but it’s like our order was sat around to go cold as we waited so long for delivery.

I had a lamb dish it was was like leather

Been using shaming on just eat for a while, decided to pop in and collect last Friday, parking is a struggle down the side street but the service and food is always a hit. Quite empty for a weekend night but I'd definitely stay for a meal in the future

poor quality curries for the price, No real indian flavours coming through.dissapointed with this order and in my opinion this isn't tikka masala.

Always love food from Shamim Balti, great service and very tasty, plenty of it especially the tandoori half chicken with loads of onions, recently discovered their Jeera rice which I now order regularly.

The last few times I’ve ordered from here the curry has been exceptional. I always like to try a chefs special to enjoy new flavours and I also order a couple of traditional dishes that I know me and my partner would enjoy as well as something new. I spent just over £40 last night 21/08/23 on 4 different curries and every single one of them apart from the korma (I only get this because I love hot, spicy curries and love to have a little bit of korma on the side to add a bit of creaminess to all of the spicy sauces) tasted exactly the same … no kick to them no difference in flavours I was so disappointed!!! Over £40 on curries that you couldn’t identify apart from the korma!!! Such a shame because I thought I’d finally found a decent curry house! And £40 down the drain!

Food was lovely. First time ordering here. Not sure if by mistake or not but they added a starter in there and that too was lovely. Onion bhajis were so nice, something I never experienced before as they used red onion. I will order again. Definitely recommend this place. Driver could've been more patient though as I was in the top floor so took time to get down.

The chicken was dry as a bone and the tika Masala Had too much coconut in it the rice was cold and stuck together the chips tased funny we are having stomach ache from it they do good ice cream though

Lovely food as usual but my only negative this time was we ordered the chicken muglai which is meant to have egg in it and there was no egg so slightly disappointed

I ordered the food for 8:15 and it turned up at 7:15, the curry was okay but the first time I had a madras that tasted sweet, the poppadoms and nan bread were poor, if your looking for a curry that is authentic this is not the place, it wasn’t worth the money in my opinion and won’t be ordering from here again

I used to live in Cheshire and had a favourite curry house and I’ve really struggled to find one just as good here in Leicester. I’ve tried so many and been really disappointed. Tried shamim balti last night at it was absolutely gorgeous. The food was piping hot and really tasty. The only downfall was it was it took 1 hour and a half to be delivered but it was worth the wait in the end! Definitely order again 😊

Honestly one of the best Indians in Leicester, we have only ever ordered as a takeaway but always comes hot and they always send the little extras like poppadoms, pickle trays & salad, if you haven’t tried the special balti already & bombay aloo where have you been? Perfect everytime, thank you x

Food was a little bit cold by the time it got here, apart from that it was really good quality, nice and tasty with lots of flavour. I was really impressed with the cheese Naan as it had plenty of cheese in it, unlike others I’ve had from other restaurants. Finally you get a decent amount of food for the price, will definitely be using these again

No salad with starter which i missed but the rest makes up for it, the starter for 2 was lovely!! Shared my part and my curry with the kid so 2 meals fed us 3 and theres some left for their lunch tomorrow. Very satisfied 😌

Food arrived as expected. I had chicken pass and a which was full of pieces of chicken breast and was hot and delicious.

I am a regular customer of Samim Balti and I am quite sure it is the best restaurant in Leicester. Specifically staters are nice food, chicken tikka, Tanduri Mix Gril, Onion baji, Somosa!!!!

Ordered while i was still at work for when we got home and showered and arrived bang on time! Absolutely stuffed!! The platter for 2 was brilliant given it didn't say what it contained, I'm glad we took a shot at it! So satisfied! Thank you :-) x

Lovely food, plenty of it and delivered quickly

The food is always spot on frm here delivery is so hit and miss some times it on time sometimes it very late with cold food!! And they always always miss something off of the order which is super frustrating when uv waited so long!

Wow! Well, what can I say? Don't usually have Indian food takeaway, as it never seems to be as good as when eating in. However, this has changed everything! Food was delivered quickly, driver was immaculately presented and very pleasant. Everything was piping hot and just as ordered, with the additional bonus of a couple of poppadoms. Taste and quality of every single dish was fabulous, couldn't fault it. Would definitely recommend and will be using again - what a great find for the start of a new year.

Love the food but always late on delvering

Eaten here for years, Great food and very reasonably priced, never had a bad experience 😋

It was very delucios, however seems like amount of meat and paneer In each portion became smaller,just lots of souce! But very delicious souce though 🙂

The cheese and chilli naan was burnt. Everything else was ok just a shame about the naan.

Ordered food to be delivered to the hotel I’m staying in but he decided to park up in the garage forecourt across from the hotel. He walked from the garage to the hotel with my delivery. The food wasn’t hot and I threw most of it away as it didn’t taste good. The meat in the starter was inedible as I could not chew it - it was that tough so my dog ate it instead. I will not order from here again.

The shashlik was really really tasty . Chicken Tikka curry was really good. However I was so happy with the Nan bread it was quite bland and doughy and not very nice at all .

I love the food from shamim Balti we have the set meal for two which is great value and such a great choice, the kebab starter's are delicious, my son also had a chicken tikka which he loves, its just a shame it took so long to come so I only ate the starter as couldn't stomach a curry so late but will enjoy it tonight and to be fair the driver did apologise for the delay, I will definitely be ordering again thanks.

no to happy with the order this time round,less flavours for a traditional indian. to many big cut onions in every dish that didn't even need to be there. extremely not happy considering they always do well.

Food was delivered 8.15pm not 7.45pm as stated above i put order in 6.35pm so a bit of a wait but food is well worth it , delicious and good portions and value for money will definitely use again.

Love the place, paneer shashlik and chicken tikka saag wala are our faves but everything we have is amazing, they really do bring tip top restaurant quality food to your door.

prawns in rice far too small! illegally small ! paneer bit to hard for my taste, would prefer a melted type cheese in the dishes, on the upside the onion bhaji's were the best i've eaten in a long time. Shame other dishes let it down.

Chicken tikka masala was the typical red coconutty type, and the chicken tasted dry and of poor quality. The naan breads where dry as well. Onion bhargis were ok, they tasted like they where refried from yesterday. Not impressed, as a £17.50 one meal treat this was poor 👎

The lamb was very chewy and keema Nan was not good

I asked for a butter chicken and got a chicken korma usually outstandingly good don’t know what wrong

Food was great, but takeaway menu states free delivery for orders over £10. I just put an online order in for £25 and got charged further £2.50 delivery charge. You need to sort your menu and make things correct ASAP!

Meal all ways nice but deliveray getting to be a joke 3 and half hours wait last time 2 hour wait this time won,t rush to order again

Forgot my Naan, but food was well tasty,

I rang restaurant to tell them I was trying to place order on just eat but that they wasn’t offering the same curries I usually order on the just eat menu or the sides I wanted, so they said add in the notes what I want instead of what I had to pick & they would follow the instructions. However I got the curry I had asked to be changed but 4 lots of onion bhajis when I requested one lot & no veg samosas & instead of Bombay aloo I requested chips. My requests were ignored & phone call was ended on both occasions I’d asked if notes were checked. So this was disappointing as food was nice but didn’t g all items I’d specifically asked to be changed. Would of asked for refund but had to go through just eat instead. Hopefully they follow their paying customers requests next time.

First time ordering from here, I ordered a vegetable tikka masala, was the best tikka masala sauce I’d had in long time, it was a nice balance between sweet and a little spice. Food was hot and early and the rest of the dishes were good too. Delivery man was polite. Was very reasonable must I add. Thank you. Will be ordering again👍

Curry was fine, very tasty with plenty of meat, the peshwari naan bread was well cooked with a nice taste and wasn't all soggy like other restaurants. My gripe is the tandoori mix grill, the beef was lovely tasting but might be too chewy for some customers, the cuts of chicken only one was to my liking the others I didn't like at all and sadly threw out. The masala fries were tasting like beetroot this is nothing like other curry house masala chips I've had before . Think I best stick to onion bhaji, korma or tikka masala as this was always Good quality along with rice. This meal for me was sadly expensive and not the best quality for price.

The worst possible food you can imagine. I waited for delivery and they said it will be longer than expected so I decided to go and collect. The food was disgusting, the starter was a disgrace the food was rock hard and chewy. The tandoori chicken was over salty with no flavour. To top it off the didn't refund my delivery instead gave me burnt poppadoms. Give my £37 back!!!!
