Called in on the off chance for a meal. We were not local so had no idea about the restaurant. The place was quiet, but we were given a friendly welcome by the waiter and shown to a table. The first thing we realised was that it did not serve alcohol, but that didn’t really matter to us. We ordered a tray of Popadoms and chutney’s, and two curries and rice. The food arrived in good time and was delicious! I ordered the Chicken Tikka Rogan Josh with Pilau rice, this was so tasty and full of spices, not hot and bland like you can sometimes get, the taste was fantastic. My wife ordered the Chicken and Paneer curry, again with pilau rice, and this too was very tasty. Overall this was great meal.

This a great little restaurant. The food is delicious and the staff are really friendly. Highly recommended.

We love this place and always visit when in Shipley. The food is excellent and reasonably priced. The staff friendly and even though we only visit a few times a year we are treated as regulars. It does not sell alcohol so take your own, they will provide you with glasses and the means to open it. We usually try one of the house specialities. You will find popadoms, pickle tray, a starter and main with rice or naan more than enough food.

Haven't been to the Shama for 30 years. It was always good back then, so we went for a trip down memory lane. The food was lovely. We did the 'deal', main, side and dessert for a set price. It was lovely. The man running it was very friendly and chatty. And it was the same owner. Nice evening

Lovely curry dishes and very friendly service. And at very competitive prices. They were very adaptable to partially blind friend. They don't sell alcohol (maybe that point is not advertised enough) but they are happy to open beer/wine for you without corkage fees.

We were a party of 15, there to celebrate my daughter's birthday. She has several problems including profound autism and Shama and his co-worker made sure she had a wonderful time. The service was just right, allowing people time to settle in and chat, an unhurried relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable evening. Oh, did I mention, the food was spot on, totally delicious, and at a very reasonable price. Thank you so much Shama. 🌞🤗🌞🤗🌞

Out for a family meal we decided to try Shama for the first time as weve visited many many resteraunts predominantly serving Curry in Bradford. We've just left there feeling extremely satisfied and already looking forward to returning soon. The food was absolutely beautiful, four of us ordered a Seekh kebab, Popadomons, pickle tray, Keema curry each, soft drinks, chips and chapattis. Not a scrap of food by the end as we all concluded it was one of the nicest curries we've had. Then out come a menu for a FREE coffee OR Ice cream each. Those were just as delicious as the starter and main. Then came the bill and we were shocked how little it was costing for four of us with all the food and drinks. Finally, the server was attentive, very friendly and ran things smoothly. Nice clean environment and a very enjoyable meal out. We will be back very soon. Thanks!

Have been coming here for years. Its the only restaurant we as a family go to. The food is always cooked fresh to order so it's hot and delicious. The staff are friendly and helpful amd will bend over backwards to help you. Great service and always with a smile

Been using Shipley Shama for over 20yrs and have to say on this most recent visit, the food was awful. Fish pakora starter appeared to have no spices in pale batter and tasted bland, chick & mushroom bhuna was a congealed mess and did not look fresh. My friends were also disappointed with their various dishes. Service was slow, wrong starters served, no water until we asked and waiter said ‘you want more water’ although we had not had any. Regrettably will not be visiting again.

Lovely starters and mains. Fab service and they bagged up what we couldn't eat to take home. I would highly recommend a visit.

Amazing place! Really clean, really nice food, literally the best Indian we've ever had, such a nice welcome and the owner was very very friendly!

Very fast service. We were still finishing off our starters when the main meal arrived the food was really lovely although we did find the madras very hot But that might be just us it could have been perfect for other people. The starters of kebabs was perfect. The waiter very polite and friendly. We went at 12.30 pm and the pace was spotless clean and tidy by 1pm it was quite busy . After coming out of the pub I would recommend going there to eat.

So Sharma do an early bird wow got the mixed kebab and a keema curry with chapatis really fantastic curry snd starter only £10 absolute bargain I did pick up myself but it definitely worth a try

Came here on a Thursday night during jubilee weekend, had the early bird special which was very nice, we both had a mixed kebab for starter and I had a chicken dopiaza and chipatis and my friend had a chicken bhuna and chipatis, both were very nice, good heat, staff were lovely will definitely be going again. Five stars from me.

Worst restaurant experience in my entire life. To begin with, the place was EMPTY which should have said a lot, but my fiancée asked me to keep optimistic as the food is what really counts. Let's begin with the atmosphere. As well as being empty, a large TV was blaring out music, distracting our conversation. Also, a borderline pornographic music video came on screen while we waited for our food. I was gobsmacked that this could really be happening. Imagine if we had brought kids? Imagine if they had seen that? The food arrived and the starter (poppadoms and sauce tray) was ok but definitely not amazing. Then the main course arrived, my chicken curry which was disgusting. So overcooked and full of 'bits'. Appalling consistency. The waiter was very apologetic and gave me a Bhuna instead, though I'd rather he hadn't as I had lost my appetite by then. I wouldn't ever return, it's shockingly bad. Can't believe this place can call itself a restaurant. Not impressed. I would also like to add that upon further inspection, the dining area is FILTHY with streaked mirrors, dirty floor and tatty tables and cutlery (which we had to ask for) I've never known a restaurant where you have to ASK for cutlery. What a disgrace. Shut it down!

Ordered via Deliveroo. Food took 1.5 hours to arrive (45 mins longer than original delivery time) after restaurant initially claimed they'd not received order. Food was bland - like something from a jar, peshwari lacked any flavour, not even sure how to describe the onion bhaji - just BAD. Don't order from here.

We visited here with meercat two for one codes and we weren't disappointed. The food here was amazing. We ordered a selection of dishes from the traditional and speciality menu. Amongst our favorites we're some fruity dishes containing pineappke and banana. Unlike other Indian food we've had in the past, each dish had a distinctive and unique flavour. There was a good proportion of meat to sauce. The naan bread was to die for! It was slightly crispy on the outside and fluffy and mallowy on the inside. This was hands down the best Indian food that we've ever had. Even my six year old thanked the waiter for the most delicious food he's ever tasted. The food here was so good that we were able to over look the slight downsides. The decor of the restaurant wasn't the most inspiring and the temperature was freezing despite the heating being on. Sadly for the restaurant (and the customers who missed out on the wonderful food) two sets of customers left before placing their order due to the temperature. Hopefully the restaurant will take this reveiw on board and rectify the temperature in future because it really did spoil an otherwise fantastic meal. Service was extremely slow between courses but I can only imagine that was because the food was being cooked fresh. Go here expecting slower service and you won't be disappointed.

Don't and I mean don't order from Sharma Shipley 2hours I waited for my meal no disscount and food was flat cold no offer to say they would do me fresh or knock anything off my bill don't waste your time on this curry restaurant use another one because Sharma is a disscrace

Popadoms, soft, chewy and covered in oil for some reason. ( Even after being sent back). Shami kebabs like spicy biscuits. Good chapatis and curry was pretty good.

Very nice meal served with chappati and rice. Menu not immediately recognisable but dishes were familiar and very tasty. Would definitely recommend and you can bring your own bottle! Good prices. Staff attentive.

I returned to the Sharma in Shipley after an absence of some 20 years and was interested to see if it was as good as I had remembered it. Well... Yes and no. My brother and I asked for poppadoms and were given 3(!) which were stale and soft. My three starters of onion bhaji, seekh kebab and sharmi kebab came without separate little salads, not like they used to all those years ago. My brothers chicken pakora was very bland - I was getting anxious as to what our keema vindaloos and chapatis would be like - I needn't have worried, the chapatis were hot and fresh and the curries were spicy and full of flavour. A mixed bag then, but on the whole I would recommend it. Just avoid the poppadoms...

This place has a great chef, and they always make a special effort with the service. It was great to go back there.

We eat here when ever we are in Shipley, stunning food, reasonably priced, great service. Take your own booze is a plus as you don’t pay inflated prices for this. Can’t wait to visit again in a couple of weeks!

My order never arrived. The restaurant didn't answer the phone - and we tried a lot. Absolutely appalling and still awaiting a refund.

MY FOOD NEVER TURNED UP!!! I ordered at 10:15pm with a 40 minute estimated delivery on Deliveroo. I waited an hour, and tried contacting the restaurant with no answer. Deliveroo confirmed the restaurant were fulfilling my order. I am still awaiting my refund. We were left hungry and tired until we gave up at 12:30pm and went to bed.

Wonderful service Iby was lovely and very welcoming. The menu was varied lots of veggie and fish dishes. The mix of spices was mouth watering. Wished lived nearby as would be in every day. Brilliant value and bring your own. Five star

I cant fault the place upon arriving we were greeted warmly and seated appropriately in accordance with covid guidelines and shown menus. We ordered from the early birds special but upgraded our curries for masala's we had the mixed starter a pickle tray and sides...

First time there, so not sure what to expect. Poppadoms with pickle tray to start, not rushed by waiter, so relaxed eating. 4 Fish pakoras excellent, really tasty, others had seikh kebabs, spicy & flavoursome. Chicken kashmiri for me tasty but a bit too spicy for me. Others had hot chicken dishes all very tasty with plenty of rice, chapatis & large garlic naan. Generous portions, with tea lights to keep curries warm, nice touch. Will go again, I'm sure but will ask for a milder curry next time.

So tonight after working all day decided to go into shama as it was like the only place open I ordered a naan wrap with chicken and asked for salad and mint sauce which I was charged 2 pounds for so for 1 naan wrap I paid a total of 9.50 for a wrap that was very average as regards to quality and taste not to mention normally salad and sauce is free exspecially when paying for a 7.50 overpriced wrap

DECENT BRADFORD CURRY! Located right on Fox's Corner, Shipley, Bradford, the Shama offers great food within a traditional Bradford curry house environment...simple, nowt fancy but delicious food thats well prepared and presented. The staff are very helpful. The size of the meals are generous. No alcohol is served. Parking can be tricky right outside the restaurant but theres plenty in the nearby area so its not a huge deal. Average prices. Well worth a visit.

If you go for the early bird you get discount. Great food and full of flavour. Staff very obliging and will basically cook you the food to any strength and combination of spice you want. Would recommend you give it a go.

Good food just had to wait too long for it & it wasn't really busy. I think he was doing take aways before ours not good when your sat waiting to eat.

Takeaway took 110 mins. Completely stone cold. Half was inedible due to cold and hard, one item missing. So bad I took the food back to the shop for a refund!! Was told they couldn't refund- go via just eat.. just eat won't refund over £20 without the restaurant ringing and authorising. Twice I have asked the restaurant to ring. Both times was promised they would. They still haven't. So took my £28 and I have had no food.. and spent hours on phone to just eat trying to get a refund to no avail. Daylight robbery!!!

Been coming to Shama Shipley for over 15 years since moving to Shipley. Both regular take away and restaurant customer - never fails to provide good value for money and tasty food. Good service headed up by the owner. Bring your own alcohol, clean and pleasant place to come for a local curry. What's not to like!

I came here with different groups on Friday night late on and early on Saturday evening. The food was excellent both times as was the service from Iby. Highly recommend!!

Being get our Friday evening takeaway curry from the Shama Shipley for a number of years now. Always great value, friendly staff (especially Iby) and prompt service. Would recommend to anyone.

I took my two kids there after their swimming lessons yesterday. We had a good meal at this place. The staff were really friendly and I got a feeling most of the customers there are regular ones. The ingredients are very good and fresh. You can't fault halal meat at all. It is so different from those meat at the supermarket, which is pumped up with water and shrink to half in size after you cook it. My chicken biriyani was delightful and the portion was huge. I had to pack half of my order up! I had poppadum, a starter and a chicken biriyani, a Naan bread for my five year old boy and a big hug of mango lasso, the bill only amounted to 18.50. Would definitely go back!

When I went in, there was no-one there. We ordered 2 curries which were very slow to say there wasn't anyone there. When they arrived the chicken korma was curdled,and when we got a member of staff, he pretend he didn't know what it ment so they charged us full price.

No frills restaurant. Not so pricey either

I have been eating curry at the Shama for 40 years on and off. Used to be chicken Bhuna then since I became veggie 30 years ago I've had all sorts of things. This week, my first visit in two years I had a spinach and Brinjal (eggplant) Bhuna and it was excellent. Served with lovely fresh chapatis and washed down with a cup of tea. I will be going more often if they make food this good consistently, The Sham is back on form. Here's to the next 40 years.

Visited here with a group of 8 friends midweek at 6.30pm. It was jolly quiet, but that’s fine. We all had the ‘Early Bird’ which offers a choice of 4 starters, then a choice of chicken, keema or veg curry (not lamb) from the traditional range (Bhuna, madras, masala etc). Includes rice or 3 chapattis for £7.50. Great value, the curry was delicious, I would say mild to medium spiced. Friendly staff and good service. It’s unlicensed so take your own booze.

V slow service, only 3 tables in and out took 2+ hours for our table of 4 to be served 2 courses. Some dishes were oily, and the naans weren't up to much. Wouldn't return.

We try to visit every time we stay in the Ibis, the food is lovely and the service very good, it is take your own booze, but what’s the problem with that. Will be back whenever we are in town.
