Although it was ok, curry’s are very average and a little bland. Not much spice goes on in the cooking creating a more of stew. great in the days and an old curry house they are. there are much better and reasonable price places to eat . Much much better places unfortunately… although really not bad if this makes sense.

Now the prices have doubled its the same price as eating at a curry house with a wider menu amd nice surroundings. Part of its charm was its run down look and feel..but food was great for £4.50 for a curry..now? £10 to £11 each without rice. A shame...I won't be back if the prices don't improve.

Once again I dream about your food its a shame I have to drive 25 miles to get your delicious food but its well worth it . Been visiting since 1978, food has had ups and downs over the years. Sadly on a downward slope at present. Onion bhaji not crisp as they have been for years, now soft and stodgy with gram flour, keema almost too spicy to enjoy. Noticed 2 new members of staff, one appeared to be a cook. Hope things improve.

Appearances can be deceiving. On a rather unassuming street in Bradford is Karachi. It's easily missed and if you didn't know it was there you'd walk straight passed it. Karachi is a very authentic restaurant. It's cash only and they do not serve drinks, but you can bring your own. Food - Outstanding. I cannot explain just how good the food here is. If you like curry this is the place. Portion sizes are perfect and the value for money is exceptional. Highly recommend.

We visited for the first time last night. Waiter was friendly. I had the vegetable korma. It was very tasty and filling. It was a little bit over creamy, but still delicious. The giant garlic naan bread was nice and soft, and not too garlicky. Bit disappointed with the chapati. Prices are very reasonable. Will definitely be returning. 🙂

Lived in Bradford a long time and never heard of this place. Got recommended by another couple so thought we would give it try. What a let down. Was possibly the worst curry I have ever tried. Went to pay and had to ask for my change which was then taken out of the charity box. Would safely say I would not recommend. There is 30/40 better curry houses in the area. AVOID!!!

My pal had a Meat Karhai ‘Rick Stein’ and I ordered Chicken and veg. My pal had a large portion of Meat Karahi which he said was great. My chicken and veg was served in a bowl, beautiful pieces of chicken and chunks of butternut squash (or an Indian veg?) with red peppers, all in a tasty sauce. The chapattis were hot and freshly cooked, soft and tasty. Just great, lovely food in a cafe environment.

Food top notch(always needs a bit of salt for my liking, but that's just me!). Meat karai is basically the same as the rick stein special, but cheaper! I've been going there for years. It may be just me but it it always seems better during the day. Service is fine. No airs and graces. Also the atmosphere is err... No atmosphere, dead basic, like a pub you like because it's so unselfconscious... But it won't be to everyone's liking. They only started giving you knoves and forks about 20 years ago. Before that you ate your curry with the 3 chappattis that come with it. Unbeatable for me.

Usually good but we went on Saturday night with friends a total let down. The shami kebabs were beef and not lamb anymore. The chicken tikka starter was a full chicken breast and not the pieces . There was no taste to it at all and it just looked like a chicken breast sprayed with food colouring. The last time we went it was definitely lamb kebabs and chicken pieces Don’t think we will be going again. Shame really staff are lovely

Was a regular here in the 1990s, and haven't been for at least 10 years, but glad to see it hasn't changed. Brilliant food, quick service and excellent value. With Bradford full of more up market Asian restaurants, the traditional 'curry house' still offers better value. Rick Stein has visited Karachi restaurant, and I had his recommended Chicken & Spinach Karahi. Rick chooses his venues carefully, and I'm pleased to see the old place hasn't changed and is still producing magnificent food.

I rarely feel compelled to leave a bad review, as I really do have better things to do with my time. But here I am… This was the worst curry I have ever had. Pros: 1. The popodoms were pretty nice, so if you just go out for popodoms - you’ll be fine (subject to my point below about sauces). 2. The curry itself wasn’t horrendous, and we didn’t have any gristle, like others reviewers, which can only be a positive. Cons: 1. The mango chutney and mint sauce were absolutely awful. I literally watched them decant mint sauce from a giant Coleman’s mint sauce container in the kitchen, so zero effort was made with this aspect other than putting it into a bowl. I expect the mango chutney was also another mass produced brand from its lack of flavour and texture. 2. The naan bread and chapati were horrendous. I of course don’t know whether this is correct, but they tasted like they were shop bought/mass produced and they were suspiciously perfectly shaped. The naan was so dry and tasteless it was what I imagine eating carpet is like - but not just any carpet, I’m talking about a really low quality carpet with a flat pillage, as the naan was so flat and dense. The chapati was just horrific and I wouldn’t give it to my dog. 3. We got an eye roll when we asked for cutlery. 4. We didn’t dare to ask for a glass with our can of Diet Coke that was plonked in front of us, after the eye roll. 5. The curries were served in cold bowls. I wonder if they know this is substandard as I watched a food review on YouTube on the way home which was recent, and funnily enough, the curry was served to the food blogger in a sizzling hot proper curry dish. 6. The pieces of meat in the curry were tiny, and it really felt like they’d cut the meat up so small to make it look like there was more than there was - I’ve never had such borrower sized pieces of meat in a curry before. 7. The decor and atmosphere were bad. I honestly can get over this if the food is good, but it’s not. Summary: This place clearly has been good in a previous life, and we only visited following a verbal recommendation, but it’s clearly allowed standards to slip in recent years and is clinging onto its previously good reputation. I expect that they are cutting corners in recent times due to perhaps the financial climate, but it really never is the way. As Rick Stein previously gave the place a good review many years ago, I wonder what he would think of it today?

Eating at the Karachi is an experience. It is basic. You can only pay with cash and you eat from formica topped tables. However the service is courteous, swift and professional. There is a good range of well cooked ‘curry’ dishes served with a pile of delicious chapati. I loved the vegetable dhal. A simple dhal packed full of neatly chopped vegetables and beautifully flavoured. An interesting, simple, good value eating experience for a family. It led me to read the wonderful book by Lizzie Collingham ‘ Curry. A tale of cooks and conquerors’ . This is a wonderful account of the history of ‘curry’ both in the UK and across the globe. Parking near the Karachi was quite easy.

I’ve been coming here for decades, it’s still a great curry and very original. Four of us called after a few pints at The Fighting Cock, the service was very quick. Though it’s a shame they don’t use lamb anymore just beef for the Rick Stein - spinach and lamb originally. The chappati’s were light and perfect. I do miss the waiter from 30 years ago who could take a big order and remember everything, he was a character and a half. Still a classic curry house, and £45 for 4 people with two popadoms each is great value.

Giving it one star because there isn't a lower score. £9.50 for a chickpea curry that was the worst I have ever tasted. The prices this place charge are on a par with a quality restaurant, not a dirty back street cafe. The quality of ingredients are inferior, portionsize a joke, and the surroundings are abysmal. Ordered a smash burger and… well it isn’t a smash burger. It’s a a Sloppy Joe: all well and good if that’s what you’re after, but perhaps the chef needs to look into what it is? I’d suggest Mr T’s as a good example. On the flip side, the Sloppy Joe was decent.
