Long-standing basic traditional old style curry house. Eaten here for over 40 years!

Pains me to say this this place is stuck in the 80s decor is terrible and faded the jugs for water are disgustingly dirty you will see for your self like there is mud on them the ketchup bottle is blocked filthy sticky and finger prints in the grime.bottle is blocked never seen a wash salt shaker has yellow stains on it and dirt we all wash up that’s never seen a wash in the years you have used and put it out on tables. what shocks the most is the owner blind this is why local curry shops are full and your place is empty service is slow slow imo it’s unhygienic waiting for my main and not feeling hungry. Never again to the owner this place was the places in 80 90s look at international your place is a dive menu is old it’s just a cheap dirty place do something you couldn’t pay me to eat there again. Horrible comes to mind ja dore international Lahore mumtaz Shimla compare your place and the service menu and decor you can not compare spend 80k get uk staff new menu and do something about your salad if you can call it that sat round looking at customers looking happy I was like some people eat any 5h1T

I would myself describe this as an Indian cafe, very basic but clean and the food was excellent

Enjoyed visiting the Kashmir for pre theatre lunch. The food was good and quickly prepared. Prices were very reasonable and the service was friendly.

Incredibly rude man here, we came in when it was empty last night and they didn't tell us they were nearly closing. He came and asked if we were done, I wasn't and he took my food anyway when I wasn't finished. He gave us some to take away only after my friend spoke up about it. In general he spoke to us like he hated us, despite my friend who is Muslim greeting him in Urdu out of respect and getting nothing back. Not the place I remember, even the toilet was a mess. Really upset that they treated me this way.

An old fashioned curry house that hasn't moved with the times

Absolutely the worst curry I have possibly had, I had 3 mouthfuls and then left it. I had a curry here several years ago and it was absolutely amazing full of flavour. It is such a shame that I have had to leave this review as I rated the place so highly. Bland boring tasteless tasted like it was made with bisto gravy granules, the current chef clearly doesn’t enjoy or take pride in his work, I’d go as far to say it should be closed down due to the hygiene. There’s a reason why this place is always empty when I go past….now I know why but it’s such a shame as this place used to right up there

Bad service, charge you for poppadoms which they bring it to you on the table with out asking,I thought they were complimentary also forgot the rice told them twice .the toilet no soap and drying your hands on the heater which does not work what can I say but good buy and fair well

Got the worst food poisining of my life, picture it, like gravy out of a hose pipe! Had to put my toilet roll in the freezer! Building was like faulty towers, just needed manuel to serve me, staff were decent though. Accepted cash which was nice but I won't be back unless I have a death wish.

Had a beautiful keema rogan josh tonight and some onion bhajis although te bahjis were a little overdone, the waiter RajKumar was very professional and polite. All in all a good night.

Love this place. Been going for over 30 years and it never fails to hit the mark. The staff are super nice and the service is on point.

Food was ok, but mine was so hot I struggled to eat it. My brother's was like a soup, which I was so disappointed with, very strange. They place itself is very drab and not very nice, they need to spend money on doing the place up. How can u expect people to dine there looking and feeling like that! We only went because we couldn't get in the international, which was so busy. Overall not great and unsurprisingly won't be going again!

I would give it 0 stars if I could, safely one of the worst Indian meals I’ve ever had. Food was bland, watery and tasteless and don’t get me started on the garlic naan. Staff were friendly enough but I wouldn’t bother.

One of Bradfords top curry houses excelent food and plenty of it 7th October 2024 Today, I came into this great Bradford Curry house and had an onion baji starter and a chicken Rogan josh, this curry house is a well run place with great staff and great tasty plentiful food portions at good value

Have been coming here for the last 40 years - initially as a university student but in recent years, as a regular trip for a few days to have a couple of meals at the Kashmir. Food is always good and reasonably priced. Will be back next year !!!!

Poor service, waited over an hour for two curries. Hoping they'd be worth the wait but very bland no flavour. Disappointing.

Over an hour wait for two curry’s. 6 tables in the restaurant. Absolutely ridiculous. Chicken tikka starter was crap as well. Dry and tasteless. What the hell happened to this place?

The guys running this place and attitude. Ordered from their web menu arrived and the cost was 40% higher, When I questioned the menu price I was told it was out off date just like the decor of this shabby place.

Went there yesterday afternoon and the food was absolutely beautiful. One of the best curry's I've had just as good as Akbars but not as expensive. The young girl who was the waiter was so nice a friendly. Anyone who visiting Bradford and wanting some eat some nice food then this is the place. Will definitely going again

So my first time in kashmiri.Very dissapointed as soon as i sat down, the seats were dirty and smeared with crumbs.Already a dissapointing start but hoped for nice food.Dont get me wrong the salad and sauce was spot on with flavour but the food was atrocious.No flavour and no salt.The fish pakora were served cold and the chips were undercooked.The only thing that satisfied me was the drink to be honest thats how shocked i was with the place.I hope you guys reflect from this review and please respect others enough to show some care

I can't really judge the atmosphere because I've only ever eaten here early on in the day but my word the curry at kashmir is my favourite to date. I get chana masala with pilau rice it comes with chapati and they always serve a little side salad with a nice spicy yoghurt sauce. It's absolutely outstanding and I highly recommend

A typical curry house near Bradford centre, not a lot of parking near by but the food is certainly worth trying.

Great value curry and taste. Shame only cash only.

I used to come here in the 80s. They’ve moved upstairs since then but apart from that, nothing has changed. The food is THE best in Bradford, simple, delicious and at a very reasonable price. There’s many varieties of Keema and I had the Madras. It’s hot but not too hot. All dishes come with one poppadom, a side salad, yogurt, three chapati and a carafe of water. No starters or anything complicated like that. It’s just traditional yummy Pakistani food. Don’t expect ‘good’ service, it’s not that kind of place. They are polite, they just don’t smile or make conversation. I come here for the food, not the service and I find it reassuringly refreshing. When you arrive, just go and sit at a table. Within a second you’ll be handed a menu, another second later you’ll be brought your side, yogurt, poppadom and water. Once you’ve ordered your food, it will arrive about a minute later! Enjoy!

This is one of the best Pakistani restaurants I’ve ever visited, with incredibly cheap prices and generous portions. Their Naan bread is special, and every dish I tried was delicious. I’ll definitely return to Bradford just to eat here again and recommend it to my friends. The restaurant itself is a bit old and outdated, but it has a large dining area.

Just read other reviews and felt compelled to correct and post. Went mid week, great service with friendly attentive staff . Food was fantastic , best curry I've had in years. Don't belive all the posts, best try yourself. take your own alcohol makes it great value. Capt Neil Medley Isle of Man

I hate leaving bad reviews, but unfortunately, this is a must. I'm going to focus on the food. We had 2 minced madras and two chicken curry dishes. The chicken was terrible and had either grisal of bones in. The mince tasted quite nice to be totally honest. However, The following morning, 3 / 4 of us was sick and felt unwell. Maybe it was just a bad batch of food we had but will not be visiting again. * only takes cash *

This is a total rip off. This place should not be open. It is embarrassing food which is cold and the chapatis cold and wet. This place is expensive and totally poor quality. The service is cheap and the place is not a nice place the toilets stank. The.place was dirty and stank also. We was fooled via the history of this place but if you know anything about curry then you won't like this. This is the worse sit down place in bradford totally disgusting and a rip off. We dont mind paying for foods but this was a rip off and totally disgusting. Cold and wet sundries. They are disgusting and the food wasn't fit for a dog. Your a fool if you step foot in this place. Absolutely disgusting food. Took my family there and one of us threw up when we got home. No wonder they're so cheap. Food is terrible and service is even more horrendous. Served tap water and even that was warm. Definitely don't recommend anyone to go here. Will not be visiting again!!

Worst experience ever . Dont go on this place . Yesterday me and my friends was too hungry at night . We order 2 plates of chicken . And it was tasteless and giving very bad smell . 2 of my friends start vomiting after they eat .

2 Stars I've been to The Kashmir Restaurant many times. The selection of food is good, but the service is consistently poor. My last visit was so bad and rude that I couldn't even enjoy my meal. Known as either the oldest curry house in Bradford or one of the oldest, with such a high reputation, I expected more. Most days, a good amount of the menu is unavailable, and I've had to return many plates for various taste or freshness reasons. This place might be worth a try for its history or nostalgia for those who grew up with it. However, the food, service, and overall decoration don't compare to similarly priced, more modern, and much better service restaurants you'll find in Bradford, a city known for its excellent restaurants and curries.

The oldest curry house in Bradford, situated right in the old good, old, but pretty solid heart of town. Spot with loyal customers coming back over 20 years. ..... Just that means a lot.

Simple but nutritious food served quickly with a spoon in utilitarian surroundings. Beware mild curry is not!

Absolutely filthy toilets, disinterested and indifferent staff, food mediocre, cash only (and we all know why), plastic basket that the chapatis came in was dirty and hadn’t been washed in years. Avoid, there are MUCH better places nearby.

Called in without booking, was very quiet & was given a large table, no ambiance at all, TV on & the staff were scruffy. They don’t sell alcoholic drinks or take cards I’m not against cash but we should have been informed before we ordered! Luckily we had enough cash between us. We were given sticky menus with a large selection of meat & vegetarian dishes. The food was served on tatty chipped plates with no garnish, looked like it had been thrown on. The onion bhajis were good but that’s were it ended, the worst curry sauce I have ever had, thin greasy & watery, we didn’t eat it, chips were awful too, the rest of the food was mediocre, they had no mango chutney which is unbelievable for an Indian restaurant! Only positive is the prices, very cheap but you get what you pay for, would not go back here, worst Indian restaurant I have ever been to!

Have eaten here for many years and the food is consistently good and full of flavour. While we try others we always end up coming back here. The restaurant and particularly the toilets really need updating, ideally in time for the City of Culture next year.

Bland, flavourless, not what it used to be, service none exisitentlce, rude and arrogant, complained after ordering a tasteless chicken vindaloo, laughed at me and spoke in another language. Again card machines never working, 3 years on trot now, cash only, hope HMRC audit them

Decent food and good value for money but the atmosphere was not great as the tables were dirty, even though the place was empty when we arrived and the lights were not turned on. Service could be better and some of the menu items were not available. Also waiter wanted us to pay cash when we were told they accepted card. There was also no music and the waiter could be more attentive.

Went here with Hubby we both ordered mixed grill starters and they arrived super quick as they had been deep fried - I was disappointed as there not supposed to be cooked that way and they were dried out and too crispy. Hubby ordered chicken jalfrazi with chapatis and I ordered chicken dopiaza with a garlic naan bread. Hubby disappointed with his curry, too mild more like a stew he said, but I liked mine so we mixed them together and shared them. We also ordered a jug of mango lassi which we shared and that was delicious. All in all, I have had a lot better food than here so won't be returning anytime soon. The bill was just over £40.

I’ve had many great curries in Bradford and this in my humble opinion is the best curry in Bradford near me. I pride myself on being able to cook a homemade onion bhaji and an authentic lamb madras or chicken tikka massala. This place opened my mind to how curry should be cooked. Literally. Oh my god it truly is the best curry in Bradford. Next time I’m in town (probably next month) I’ll come here not only for the amazing mixed grill, the meat masala or the keema Rojan Josh. The Kashmir looks run down from the outside and the decor inside looks like it's from the 1960's BUT the food is amazing, couldn't fault the food at all. Came quick and was hot and tasted fresh, the only thing that let this place down was that we never got one item that we ordered. Even though I asked for it twice and the server should he would get us it. Other than that they are very friendly and make you feel welcome.

Food was decent tasty quite good. But the decor and the service really let this place down. They need to come into modern times.

Very authentic food served in one of Bradford's oldest restaurants. Recently refurbished, making it a bit smarter but the prices are still reasonable. Worth a visit!

Where can I start, chapattis were that thin I could see through them, that's why they went cold quickly, they passed my chicken bhuna off with lots of meat from the chickens legs, they must have thought a women wouldn't notice, WRONG, I disected it thoroughly & none of us will go back, KIRACHI DID THE SAME, they smother it in sauce hoping it wouldn't bee noticed, how wrong they were, NEVER EAT @ EITHER

the place has been well-known for a long time. the food is decent in quality and taste. but the quantity is too little to be fulfilling. its best for regulars who already know they like it. it's not for people who want to try something special in Bradford.

They have the rudest most racist staff ever. The food is a rip off just so so definitely not authentic. Never going back.

Service was extremely poor. Staff couldn't be bothered with us. Only two other people in the restaurant. Tried to order rice with the curries but just said chapattis come with curry. Men's toilets were disgustingly filthy. Ordered a pickle tray but just brought raw onions and raita. Ended up walking out and they couldn't care less. Really gone downhill. Staff just don't seem to bothered for business. We found another local restaurant who were happy to serve us so they got our custom. Extremely disappointed. It was recommended by a Bradford born person and they were very embarrassed by how the staff treated us ...

Been going there for over 30 years. Now under new management it has dropped in quality. The food was tasteless & the cutlery, glasses & jug were dirty.

Food was appalling I had the chicken rogan josh and the chicken was the worse quality chicken it was inedible, the chicken tikka was swimming in oil. I couldn't knock the service as it was quick but thar says it all. The place is filthy and very dated. Filthy glasses and tables. Definitely won't be returning!

Great old fashioned curry house. We are losing these places, the original types, to be replaced by posher types. To me, curries will always be better from an original/old fashioned curry house. Well worth a visit. Great service and old school curries. Keep it up peeps!

Having been coming here a few years now I have to say the food is consistently good and the prices are still reasonable. They've gone up over the years but not by much and you really do get quality for what you pay. They are very flexible when I ask for something a bit different and it's never any more than a similar dish on the menu. The place could do with a bit of modernising but it is what it is, one of the oldest curry houses in Bradford.

Ordered meat Dhal was lovely and spicy

Back st dirty cafe style food just about eatable. They have upstairs which was newly painted but opens after 5. Curry was black dont know why bcz it didn't taste burnt .kebab looked like ??? Very small and the samosa had seen better dayyyyss. Proper 1970s

Hands down the best curry I have had in Bradford. We keep coming back despite not living 30mins away. The interior and surroundings may candidly put some people off but it is well worth looking past this for a fantastic curry
