No volvería

We popped in here to have a glass of champagne and a scone whilst listening to an actor give us a reading of Shakespeare. Was rather nice

The right refreshment at the right time along with your gift shopping. We did not use the café. However, the small display was very appetizing

Modern building which I felt was out of place in such an historic sight. Coffee was adequate at £1.80 a cup, did not see a great selection of snacks, however it may have been too early for them to be out. Staff pleasant.

After the drive from London, having a bit of English tea with the usual accompaniments of scones, jams, etc was a nice way to start a visit to a town whose entire business revolves around the memory of Shakespeare, England's most prolific playwright. From the second floor cafe location, one can see some of the colorful rose garden abloom with flowers. The service was quick. Recommend it!

Not really classic fayre - more choice is needed but the price structure is not really inviting. I recommend they reduce by at least 15% and the footfall will improve

Relaxing atmosphere where you can enjoy snacks and drinks sitting close to where Shakespeare was born and lived. The ambience is ethereal and transports you back in time, while you relish your eats.

Very stylish cafe set next the gardens, and you don't need to go to the museum to get in. Excellent selection of teas and cakes.

Although reasonably 'local' we had had not been to any of the Shakespeare attractions for years so had a day playing tourists. We stopped for lunch at this cafe and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. The chicken terrine with apricots, wrapped in locally cured bacon was particularly yummy. There is a lot of locally sourced food, lovely breads a large selection of teas plus wines, beer & cider. The cafe itself is not attractive, formica tables and plain chairs but the staff are friendly and the food is good quality & reasonably priced, so give it a try. You can visit the cafe without having to pay to visit the house and they have their own free exhibition. I guess the other properties could be similar.

I've eaten here a number of times over that last few years and it's always been a pretty good experience, even if it's not always been my first choice. The chain has generally been very well regarded, which is why I was upset to learn they'd been bought out by Fuller's. Which are in my experience purveyors of poor fayre at premium prices, with the assumption that the setting will go some way to emolliate your disappointment. I was a little reluctant to return for an annual pre-Christmas dinner with friends, and again it wasn't my first choice, but I had heard good reports from people who had dined post-takeover and decided to give it a shot. Two of our party ate from the Christmas prix fixe menu and myself and another took one look at it an elected to dine from the standard menu. The main objection being that the Christmas menu carried very little in the way of Christmas food, the closest thing to a roast dinner being the braised beef, which carried a hefty £10 premium on top of a set price that didn't exactly scream 'good value' over the a la carte offering. Starters and mains came in a timely fashion, with the food generally being acceptable but by no means exceptional, only the trout "gravlax" starter causing any major disappointment. However we twice needed to go to the bar and remind them that we had ordered drinks. This was repeated again with the desert order, and then again with additional drinks so all in all I think the service is probably charitably described as 'inattentive.' The cheese board, from prix fixe carried an additional £5 premium on top of the £10 for the beef, making a bit of a mockery of the idea of a set menu. All in all the food was ok and the service was poor. We somehow managed to spend £100 more than last year having a pretty much identical meal, nothing was good value, and to top the whole affair off we were asked very nicely by a member of staff if we wouldn't mind sodding off as they had another booking. Won't be going back for anything more complex than a burger.

We stayed here and went to the restaurant to find it set for breakfast. On check out we discovered it had been closed for a year which caused issues as I’m type 1 diabetic! Shame also as the reviews were fantastic
