Fantastic food and great hospitality well recommended . The flavour and taste was fantastic along with the two hosts

My review must have been conveniently deleted from my visit in August but the owner partakes in mysoginistic/homophobic ‘banter’ with other customers at mine and my friends expense, stale and flat beer with bits floating in it and greasy food… I found this place faultless food wise on previous visits which is why I returned but to put it out there again, go somewhere where they’re not don’t want to just entertain their male customers unfunny and crap opinions - some of the best curry houses in the UK are in Leicester so spend your time and money elsewhere!

6 adults in our group and we all thought the food was amazing. The staff were friendly and welcoming X had a lovely night X We will defo be going again X

Tandoori Mixed Grill is a little expensive but so worth it. Could easily be shared between 3-4. So good value for money in the end.

Way back we visited this restaurant known as Sands, but it closed down after a public health issue. It has changed names a bit but kept the same telephone number which seemed odd. I decided to try the restaurant to give it a fair chance and telephoned several times over the course of a evening, the website said they were open but only ever got an answerphone message . I eventually left a request to be contacted but have received no reply. The restaurant is now called Shant, although the web picture calls it Shah. Either way I Shan’t be giving another chance.

Absolutely lovely indian. My partner travels all over the UK for his work, still says that this is his favourite. Lamb is soo tender and the flavours of the curries are delicious. Such friendly staff too, always stop to have a chat with you. Love love love this place

We arrived to a virtually empty restaurant and was shown to a table that had a cheap paper tablecloth on it with no cutlery settings.Menu was stuck together when I opened it🤮 No drinks menu was offered but we asked for a bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon blanc. Wine arrived and it was a very nasty cheap bottle that sells in Asda for £3.75! Food was ok, ambience was awful as was the surroundings. When the bill came the £3.75 bottle of wine was charged at £15.95 !! That’s a mark up of at least four times the cost price. We queried the price as we weren’t happy and we reluctantly agreed to pay £8. Food was fine but unfortunately the atmosphere, surroundings and drinks were that of a cheap roadside café. We will not be returning

Absolutely ridiculous. First two times we have ordered we got either the wrong order or the wrong product but gave them the benefit of the doubt. However tonight we ordered and was missing a Curry completely a £10 curry! Ordered on their website. We rang to ask if we could have merely a refund for the missing Curry. No the guy on the phone was rude, said we ordered through just eat even though we have an email confirmation from their website! Said he couldn't refund and then put the phone down. Never again would I deal with someone who takes money for a product and doesn't supply it!!!!!

My curry arrived 45mins late stone cold 🥶and when I say stone cold I mean it When called No apology I asked for money back they offered be 20% I declined and said 50% would be acceptable they refused and said they would have to call the manager and call me back no body did After 3/4 calls back I still get the same we cannot get hold of the manager ( yeah ok 🙄) two weeks later I called again for one last time still nothing so now I find myself writing this review! Another think you note when ordering online they ad VAT at the point of checkout which makes the curry very expensive £46 for 2 people ( standard order ) but still ordered as hungry. Trust me save yourself the disappointment order elsewhere

Arrived at 6:10 and looked promising. Greeted at the bar and was asked to sit at our table which was OK by us. As we were the only ones in at that time, the atmosphere was very sterile, especially with the cheap paper table coverings. but as this was our first family night out since March and the lockdownwe didn't know what to expect. I enquired about the eat out to help out scheme and if they were participating and they were, so great for us!! Ordered a round of drinks which was delivered quite promptly but that was when the service went slow. Had to call someone over to ask for popudums. Then only after they were consumed did he take our food order. ( I even got him to repeat the order back to confirm as I wasn't over confident.) We got our starters at 7pm some 50 minutes after arriving and at that time, some of the tables which arrived were finishing there mains.... I ordered a jug water and had to ask twice for glasses and ice, but took me going to the bar(nobody there) and finally finding someone near the kitchen who finally gave us some glasses and 4 cubes of ice!!! Sitting looking at our empty starter plates for 20 minutes, the kids were getting restless and I asked to be cleared and our mains as soon as possible. Another 20 minutes passed and we finally got our meals. Missing was 3 rice and a side order was incorrect. Even after the read back!! Now I was starting to loose faith.... Especially when 5 minutes passed and I had to ask for cutlery to eat..... As the food was ok I wasn't going to flip too much, but having an offer which is supposed to get more custom returning to out hospitality industry after the pandemic lockdown, Shant's is failing drastically. I felt sorry for the young lady, who was obviously distressed being forced to deliver an offer in those circumstances. Needed at least 1 other team member. I espressed my views about the food and service offer to the waiter, who I found out was actually the manager!! who gave me a fake apology and no other incentive for me to return, which we probably won't.. I gave it 1 star, purely as the food was ok, but I can cook a nice meal at home. Food is only a small part of the overall eating out experience, isn't it? It really deserved 0

This is literally the best Indian I've been to and I am so lucky to have it on my doorstep! Normally get a takeaway for convenience but ate in the restaurant this week end and it was brilliant. They had a dj playing some classics and the food was amazing as always. The chefs specials are delicious and you won't find them at other restaurants which is why I wouldn't eat at any other Indian restaurant as I know I'd only be disappointed!

Reasonable curry - but after I’d heard it was the best in Leicester from an Indian (background) local, I was a bit disappointed. Also - could your service be any slower!? There was only one other group for most of the time we were there.

Visited my mum, sister and family at the weekend and had already planned a visit to ‘Sands’, driving past we were horrified to see the name had changed and feared the worst, we need not have worried at all the place is as good as ever if not better with additional menu items, everyone enjoyed their meal and great to see you’ve retained the main course sampler which I’ve always thought an excellent touch, this allowed me to up the spice of my chosen dish. Service was excellent as always and after we had paid the bill and the taxi you ordered for us was going to be a little while I ordered another glass of wine as I was the only one without a drink and you gave it to me without charge, lovely touch. Wish we had a restaurant of your caliber in Beverley as you would put our offering to shame. Looking forward to our next visit already, thankyou.

I love the fact that you can have a taster before your main meal so it can be adjusted to your tastes. Two things that matter in a restaurant,good quality and service. This has both. Please visit, you won't be disappointed.

Last visited about 4 years ago when it was called Sands. Tonights food and service were even better than before. Excellent.

We love the taster dishes, and the staff, who take great care to help find a suitable dish. They remember their regulars, and are ready with the orders very promptly. Always great food, now fresher than ever!

We were staying at the local Premier Inn, found this restaurant on Trip Adviser and thought we would give it a go.We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, and especially liked that we were given a taster of our main course to ensure we would like it in terms of heat and spice etc - this is something we’ve never seen in an Indian restaurant before. The restaurant is licensed and serves a good range of wines, beers and spirits. The service was good with friendly staff and the prices are very reasonable. We’ll definitely be back in we’re in the area again.

We have been using this Indian for many years on a regular basis, but Shahs is by far the best it’s ever been. The food quality is second to none and never disappoints. The warm and friendly service from the old and new faces is amazing, we love it x

We dropped in here for our monthly curry club outing. Whilst they struggled to sit all 16 of us on one table, we had a really good curry and service.The staff seemed very knowledgable of the food and the food was very nice. Everyone enjoyed their meals and it was a nice touch to get a taster of the curry you ordered before they served it to make sure it was the right ‘heat’ and taste.For ref they have Cobra on tap.

Having been to the restaurant to eat quite regularly also have collected takeaways I was delighted that they deliver to where I live the food was just like eating in the restaurant apart from I had to do the washing up another great meal really cannot fault 5 ⭐️

It's been a long time since I have actually enjoyed take out today the shah's of Glenfield has done the job. The best meal I have had and I'm a big big foodie. Who says perfect does not exist because this place it sure does.

Visited this lovely restaurant again at New Year’s Eve and the food was really good and the staff are knowledgeable.....

I love this place the staff are amazing the food is to die for I was also showed round there beautiful brand new kitchen spotless ....my hubby took me for a night out Tuesday but we have had many lovely evenings in this place and big family party’s aswell❤️

I Came here after the football and was not disappointed. The service was really good , allowing you to taste your food before you try it , the food came quick and was of a high quality. The staff were nice and the actual restaurant had a pleasant atmosphere.

Great Service from arrival until we left. A fantastic selection of food and many dishes I have not seen anywhere else, all very reasonable. Will be back soon.

Ate here at this popular modern Indian as a walk in whilst staying at the nearby Premier Inn. Despite it being a busy Friday, the front of house staff soon found us a table for two and sorted drinks and menus. Service is polite and prompt and the menu choice very typical. The sizzling lamb chop starter didn't have much sizzle but was tasty and well spiced. One nice touch here is the provision of a sample of your main course prior to it being served to any final adjustments to heat or spice can be made. My King prawn Saag was delicious but very strong in garlic. Overall a very pleasant venue and dining experience, highly recommended.

Formerly sands. New manager has taken over the place, familiar faces with the waiters, menu and food has improved immensely since becoming Shahs. Lovely modern decor inside, bar with good choice of drinks, great veggie options, moderately expensive but worth it. Staff very friendly and helpful.well worth a visit. Co-op car park nearby, there's some parking to the rear. Possibly need a reservation at the weekend, not open Sunday.

Being a British Asian and being accustomed to eating traditional Indian, Gujarati cuisine almost every day - I can officially say that Shah's is one of the best restaurants to visit! My husband and I are complete foodies and have been to many many restaurants in Leicester but there's none quite like this one. We come very regularly and we cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough! Not only is the food extremely tasty, but the X-Factor is you get to try before you buy - you have to visit to truly appreciate this comment.

Always a pleasure to dine here at our local Indian restaurant, and we do so often! The owner Anesh is such a delight and breath of fresh air, always makes us feel welcome. The staff, well, what can we say about the staff?? Amazing, friendly, and they make the whole experience of dining a great success. Can thoroughly recommend this restaurant.Food is always amazing. Please try it. Monday night 'Taster Nights' is awesome, an opportunity to try lots of different dishes. Go and experience, it's a must.

Different taster menus every Monday, a great choice of food and far too much!! Starter platter, 8 main courses, 2 rices and 4 nan breads and if you still have room a desert. Friendly service and very well presented . Good value for money

Visited with the family at the end of August. Nice touch was the little taster dishes of the main course, where you can adjust the flavours if you like (we didn't). Added bonus is that it is a 10 min easy walk from the Leicester North West Premier Inn.

1st class!food was excellent and piping hot which makes a nice change as most places it’s warm,excellent service,tbh food is the best I’ve tasted in a long long time will definitely be returning Thankyou for a great meal

As soon as I knew the restaurant had reopened as Shahs I went back immediately.

I was my first visit to Shah's since the business changed hands. There was a warm welcome and the service was excellent throughout the evening. The menu choices were varied and there was something for all of our party of four to choose from. The food was beautifully cooked and served and the portions were ample. I will go again.

Firstly ignore the 1 poor review. This restaurant has been brought back to life by the new manager and his friendly team. Difficult to know where to start. So I chose seekh kebab predictably. However as a main from specials had Talapia Makhani, which was so light and delicious and a white fish. I had never had this before it was a lovely surprise. My wife, mother in law and sister in law chose vegetarian dishes which where served to perfection. Kingfisher on draught for me. Ladies Kumala Shiraz and sparkling water. All staff very friendly. Please remember this is not Sands anymore. Give it a go you won't be disappointed. Good luck in your new business venture.

Another cracking night down our local Indian restaurant lovely food good company and a little contribution towards the Loros charity and I nearly forgot TOO MUCH DRINK

We have been here quite a few times over the years, it has recently had a new owner - Anish and he is a true gentleman.

Never fails to disappoint! The food was piping hot and very tasty as always our two boys love the food here! They say it’s the best Indian food ever! So Thank u Shahs for a most enjoyable meal. See you soon.

We gave been regulars here for many years the god us always yum. It's now under new owners and the transition is good, they gave kept some of the Sands staff and a few new ones all were attentive and polite. The food was delicious and I mean really delicious, we are so pleased the standard is still as good (if not a slightly bit better if that's possible). Well done, highly recommend.

Having been a regular at Swatlands then Sands we had to try out Shahs when it opened. Sorry to say that the quality of food has dropped & the wait time for food was far too long. Had to wait over an hour for the mains to come, processed chicken meat & sauces that a number of the group did not want to eat was a real let down. Such a shame as we loved to eat here & have takeout’s, looking for somewhere new now.

Excellent meal reasonably priced and staff that were extremely friendly. Highly recommended as the new owner is doing an exceptional job.

We've been a couple of times since the new owner took over in February. The food and service are every bit as good. The second time was on a Friday and it was busy but the service still good. The best part is the bar and ante-room area - a cut above your average curry house. I know some curry snobs who think it's only authentic if the decor is from the 60's and the clientele dressed in tracksuits but when I go out for a meal I like somewhere with a bit of class. This is definitely it.

Today we have been blown away with the experience and food. Prices are very reasonable, service was exceptional and food was delicious. We picked a main and a taster portion was cooked and sent to our table to ensure we were happy with our choice before they cooked the main portion - never seen that at an Indian restaurant. Manager and all staff were perfect. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience

We decided to try the restaurant under new ownership.. the food was exceptional.. service as good as it's always been. Old faces under new management makes for reassuring consistency. You can't fault this place. Even told us where they bought their wine glasses.. so my Mrs can spend some more of my money!

Restaurant (Indian) recently changed owner - used to be Sands of Glenfield until early February 2018 - and he has retained many of the staff/chef. We have visited twice since re-opening - still an excellent meal and evening. New owner is a really nice gent and deserves to be successful, so hopefully will be well supported. The restaurant is only minutes away from anyone in Glenfield with a car, and is so convenient/handy. We are due to go again on Mother's Day evening (next Sunday 11 March) when I understand there is to be a 'Elvis' tribute act. Should be fun!
