It was so good. Staff was very kind and welcoming and unlike nowadays the staff actually created a conversation with me. I ordered collection. The food was really good. I ordered a special rice and masala chicken. The peshwari naan is really good. Best Indian takeaway ever. Totally recommend.

Great portions, delivery on time, very nice driver, curries served hot when arrived, each curry was really rich with layers and tasty in its flavour - spot on! The lamb tikka and chicken tikka are still tender when we finished everything. We have requested extremely spicy for everything and they surely didn't disappoint us, the spices came with strong inviting smells and hot tastes, they are spicy enough but not just pouring in chilli powder, we definitely love them and will return next time!

Food arrived cold but I'm giving five stars anyway because it looked like it would have been very tasty if the Just Eat guy hadn't taken 40 minutes to do a seven minute drive

Let me tell you about this takeaway as your probably thinking of ordering for the first time if you're reading the reviews. This takeaway is the best Indian takeaway in this area of Leicester. The chefs are highly skilled, cook with fresh ingredients and add another ingredient that many establishments lack. That ingredient is love. They put so much love into the food, you can taste it. It's why I keep eating from here everyday. I bring the food home, open the containers and smile as soon as I see what I have received, a hot delicious dish that hugs you with flavour. A sure way to keep warm this winter. The manager Abdullah is such a nice, friendly and genuine guy who is willing to help any customer should they need it. I am lucky to have him as a friend, such a good man. Thank you Maharaja takeaway for everything you do! And to any potential customer, order from here and you will not be disappointed. In fact you will become a regular just like me. 6/5 stars

Very mediocre. Lacked flavour and the dishes were lacking spice and salt. Portions were good and the delivery man was pleasant. Unfortunately I won't be ordering again. Defo needs to step up their game.

Try to order on line and then phoned to make sure that the order had gone through, to be told that it would be £10 more than on line price, Have had takeaway from here before and it was excellent under old management, the new management have no customer skills or experience. The food has gone down hill can get better supermarket Indian food.

Had a lamb bhuna and a lamb biryani with nan bread , threw 2/3 away as far to salty and stodgy and the Nan was way too sweet

Maharaja Takeaway is quite average. The service is okay, not great, but not bad either. The food is spicy, with the garlic chilli vegetable curry being the best dish. The tandoori roti, however, is a bit dry and just okay. Overall, it's a decent place for a takeaway meal but nothing extraordinary. Three stars.

I ordered lamb biryani and chicken biryani but both had bare minimum meat content

Have ordered from this restaurant before and food has been excellent. Unfortunately, the food wasn’t great today. Tandoori chicken was very dry and didn’t taste fresh. First time of three orders I’ve been disappointed.

Excellent service. We discovered this Indian restaurant thanks to the very good reviews left before us and we do not regret our visit to the Maharadja of India. It was our first Indian restaurant in London. We were very well received by Arif, who was very friendly and with whom we were able to share a few words during the meal. I've had better quality curry from Farm foods! it was very very poor and I will never order from here again! All pre cooked and banged together, the chicken was probably from farm foods and added to a sugar sauce. The only thing half edible was the rice. Very very poor and poor reflection on just eat that you partner with such a poor establishment.

Avoid! Used once previously and was ok, however what I have just had was terrible, the worst takeaway curry ever. Butter chicken is boiled chicken in a sugar sauce with no taste and absolutely no resemblance to a butter chicken. Lamb Korei consisted of boiled lamb I suspect a few days old with a bland sauce. Will not be ordering again! Avoid!

Hadn't ordered from here in a while, and was absolutely disgusted at the quality of the food now! It's such a shame, as this was a great place to order from in the past! Food had authentic flavours and taste, now everything tastes like Pataks paste! Nan's are bought in pre-made! Awful!!

If you want to order a curry from this restaurant from you will be better off to s*** On your plate , you will find some use for the naan doing that .

Ordered at 21:50 on Sunday through deliveroo, it got to an hour and 15 minutes waiting before I tried to call as they use their own drivers, and no answer. The food literally never turned up. It's taken over 48 hours and having to call the restaurant myself because they wouldn't confirm the refund to deliveroo to get my money back, which is crazy. His excuse was "we went home and left the machine on and it auto accepts orders".

Worst Indian take-away ever. Being of Indian origin you tend to know what is good and what is not. The food here is appalling. Please do not waste your hard earned money at this place, you will be very disappointed. Nan bread was soggy, with a hair in it. Tandoori roti was like it came from underneath the owner's a mattress. It was uncooked. Please see photo. No point complaining they said they don't care about reviews... very rude staff. Sheer waste of money.

SCAMERS. Ordered online through their website, paid by card. Waited 2 hours, no delivery. Called them up, the owner lied. Said he was going to call me.... was waiting 2 hours... and that they dont deliver to my area (10 minutes away) . When i asked for refund he changed his mind and said they'd send it now in 45 mins. 1 hour 30 later no delivery, I call them again. More lies, told me he would refund me straight away. Wait 2 hours, bo refund, i call again. He said they were busy and would do it at end of day. They close at 10.30pm it's now 11.30pm still no refund. The thing that gets me the most is the constant lying. No respect for customers so you can only imagine what goes on behind the scenes. Total scammer and liar. Reported to Trading Standards

Chicken tikka masala was a korma with red dye chicken shashlick bhuna average & dry very vinegary, garlic nan small and no garlic. Pilau rice ok chips ok , disappointing really won't use again

You get what you pay for! Honestly, this is one of the best Indian takeaways in the area! We have regular takeaway from venimos with family and this is always our go to. Only ever had delivery but super friendly, easy to talk to if anything needed changing. Food is absolutely perfect every time, no faults at all 😍

Oh dear, this place has gone down hill, a year ago this was the best takeaway around, today its the worst. I will never go there again. Really bad food, the chicken had a funny taste. Couldn't finish it, ended up in the bin. Don't waste your money. I have used this place regularly over a few years. First as the Indian Gate then maharaja. The first owners of maharaja knew how to cook and used good ingredients. Now I feel the ingredients are the cheapest and on top of that the chef isn't great. I don't think I've ever had a worst curry!

Nice food for a reasonable price

Went to pick up the Indian takeaway, but we were unable to redeem their loyal scheme where you buy five meals and get the sixth one free. When we enquired why they said 'the price of the ingredients went up and they were unable to honour the loyalty scheme anymore'...but the loyalty scheme was still active and being advertised. This was reported swiftly to trading standards and was a complete waste. Nan bread was appalling, the kee manan had no meat in and looked just old and sad. Very low quality and very disappointing.

I will NEVER order from these again. Ordered the King Prawn Korma and got 4 Prawns in the dish. Rang and complained and the man on the phone confirmed with King Prawn dishes only 4 are added to the dish. Not good value. AVOID

They called us up when were expecting our delivery to say there was no paneer, my wife was not happy so the chap drove to another restaurant to get her some! The curries we had were spot on and so happy with the service with all the effort he went to for us. Definitely recommend!!!

Given good Google ratings we decided to give the maharajah a try. The online ordering was good though not iOS compatible, friendly and rapid service even on a Friday, 20% off collection. Food was hot, tasty, good serving size. Only criticism was the mains were overly salty for our taste.

By far the best Indian takeaway I ever had in leicester. Food is fresh and was piping hot when it arrived to me. Butter chicken is the probably the best I have had in a long time.

Was staying at Prem Inn along the road done my order online and collected i love Indian food and this was exceptional! I had the Royal Naga this is a hot dish but the perfect hot dish full on flavour explosion on the pallet then heat at the throat brilliant! The onion Baji’s where perfect and the dipping sauces incredible! I got to the shop to early went in told the guy id wait in my van he came out and gave it to me a little bit earlier! Very friendly staff and full service with a smile! Highly recommend, will be using every time i visit!

Have tried a couple of indian takeaway recently as the one we normally use is closed have to say that this is by far the best Indian takeaway in leicester the food is brilliant staff are lovely and always on time and piping hot. We wont be using anyone else now great work guys. Recommended to us by Kelly on peveril road.

We have had several takeaways from the Maharaja and all have been excellent! This is run by the same people as the Cardomom Lounge in Narborough which is also a very good curry house. If you order online and collect there is a 20% discount given which makes the food great value for money and if you keep the same menu they mark off each visit and after 4 meals you get a free meal/discount to the lowest value of previous meals. Always been on time with my on-line orders and very friendly staff. Still relatively new and well worth a visit if you haven't been yet! Highly reccomended.

The best Indian takeaway ive tasted around leicester , staff are buzzing and food ordering so quick and easy online ..gave me a call to say food was ready to go ! One of the best Indian takeaways in leicester, having tried many this one is definitely going to be on top of my list. Ordered a Garlic Chilli chicken and mixed sizzler, the food was well cooked, nice balance of chilli and garlic. The chicken was very good quality and fresh.

First time eating from here, we normally go to other favourite takeaways but wanted to try this as they had sent a menu through the post, It takes alot for me to write a bad review but I can honestly say this was the worse Indian takeaway I've had in Leicester, all the curry's were sloppy, with poor or no taste to distinguish between the dishes, only the colours, no vegetables visible as described. Friendly service though and reasonable prices.

First time ordered via Just Eat. Timely delivery to our home and I have to say the best Indian the family and myself have had in a long time. Tasty, well cooked, hot on arrival and generous portions too plus a very polite delivery agent. This beats the other local Indian takeaways on the Just Eat app. Please keep up the good work. me and the mrs had a very nice meal. we found them though facebook and thought we would give them a try as i used to know them an indian gate. the food was very nice and no sure if its the same people or been taken over but i would recommend them we are having are second meal now and hopeing its amazing
