Me and my partner come to this restaurant often and wouldn’t go anywhere else for a curry. The best food, good prices and lovely atmosphere.

Fantastic food and great service

Worst dining experience in a long time. Food was okay, mediocre, wouldn't rave about it to anyone. However, service was terrible! Felt rushed, uncomfortable, passive aggressive staff, food tried to be cleared before finished. Towards end of meal, taking a rest, asked if we wanted to take the food home. Said yes because of atmosphere, foil takeaway tins followed on the table for us to pack it up ourselves. Waiters moody and unwelcoming throughout. Not worth the money or the time. Extremely disappointed. Advise others to try somewhere else

Awful treatment ! Just rushing us to finish . Quite rude and the take away you will do it by yourself . First and last time I am going there

Uber eated from this establishment (if I can can call it that) Who puts cheddar cheese as a substitute for paneer in both mutter paneer and saag paneer. Please do not try to sell vegetarian food if it’s going to be awful. Stick to what you know.

Had one missing naan bread. Food was cold, but other than that very nice.

Nice delivery driver went out of his way to replace the missing Lemonade, Food was great and tasty, will order again soon.

Won’t order again. Horrible chicken tikka masala with sweet runny watery sauce and not many pieces of bullet-hard chicken. Chicken patia had some flavour but still watery. Delivery on time but 1.5 hours from order to delivery on a Saturday.

The food didn’t arrive and when I called they were really rude. Heard all curries are made a week beforehand too

Ordered a tikka masala, pilau rice, onion bhaji and garlic naan. Great price and great portion size. A very tasty enjoyable meal, will be having again

When the food turned up, it was all in the bag and not in the containers. Called up, and all they said was its the drivers fault, and no refunds were given. Ended up having an argument with the owner. Very poor customer service, and when we did get another curry after much debate, the food was not good. Word of advice changes the packaging for the curries as this is not the first review, complaining about the state of the food when it arrives. The packaging you have now is cheap and is not suitable for travel!

Rude customer service I was here and ordered food in one go and only extra chapati and rice was ordered and still the restaurant replied us that we were not being good customers. Such a racist comment to differentiate a customer with a country and than ask customer to have good manners.. I think what this restaurant expect from its customer is they should just order once as the restaurant is busy if you order extras it’s going to be uncooked as the restaurant is busy and can’t handle it’s customers and most importantly the restaurant serves Indian food but they don’t like INDIAN customers and I was with my 2 friends at the table celebrating my wife birthday and this is the service I got so I paid for this comment ?? I think we’re being good and generous to pay without making a big deal out of it and yes we all Remember none of the employee asked about how was the food and they were rude from the very beginning. Final conclusion- please don’t be an Indian customer and just order once this restaurant is very busy!!!

The worst restaurant ever tried… the person was very rude who was serving us … we ordered jeera rice , dhansak, pilau rice, veg bhuna, tandoori roti and chapati… tandoori roti was very thick , chapati uncooked he took so much time to serve half of the food was cold by then.. veg bhuna tastes more like onion sabji , dhansak wasn’t a proper balance of lentil and vegetables, rice were good, tadka dal had good taste but tadka was burnt // the jeera was burnt making it more worst…will never visit this again… after I paid bill the person serving us became rude and said things should be said before… we were very hungry and tired couldn’t wait for more time they anyways took it longer to make our order there was no sense in complaining about everything and waiting for everything that makes no sense in dining out.. severe disappointment.. At first place I ordered everting except from extra chapati and extra rice at one order … whatever I ordered next was the extras and not the original order obviously if we are paying for something we won’t waste food so needed extra chapati and rice. I think this restaurant need manners none of the employee asked us how is the food.. even I own a restaurant and we take multiple orders from single customer. So what are you suggesting a customer comes in and just order once ??? Is that a manner to be learnt by customer??? Or is it a manner for restaurant to serve its customer with good food even if same order is ordered at different tables ?? I mean what you saying is there was only 3 tables when we were dining I didn’t see any delivery drivers so the restaurant wasn’t able to serve 3 tables and that was considered busy ??? And still be rude to customers who paid for something they didn’t like without more complaining?? I think this restaurant need to learn more customer service .. as apart from everything they are still rude and now they are being racist by differenting with cultures ???

We love this place - we have been coming here for years and have never had a bad meal. The food is excellent and the staff are to. Good value for money highly recommend.

Order not yet arrived , usually they are amazing

Good tasted like reheated leftovers. it didn't have the sweet, sour & hot taste of a Dhansak. Mint sauce was disgusting. even the poppadoms tasted stale. The delivery driver claimed he had no change and so my £16 order actually cost me £20. Would definitely not recommend!

Awful, tasteless takeaway tonight, boiled rice has more taste, ordered vegetable curry and a chicken curry, couldn’t eat such a tasteless meal and no rice included and expensive, samosa came as 2 and were tiny, don’t bother with this takeaway it’s terrible

Been here a few times now, both dining in. The menu is huge - quite overwhelming actually, but the waiter provided a bit of guidance. I found the food both times quite good. The ‘grabbing a curry’ is deeply rooted in the English culture, but this is mostly done through taking food home. I like it how this restaurant has two parts, a dine-in and a take-away part. But I find the atmosphere in the restaurant not great. Partly this is because of the lack of people, but maybe there’s a chicken-and-egg situation going on here. To add a Dutch word here: I don’t find it very ‘gezellig’. Will be back though.

I wasn’t there but I ordered the worst biriyani I have ever tasted like microwaved pilau rice with chicken pieces no flavour definitely not worth £12.50 I honestly don’t know how anyone could sell this. Wasted money after a long day of work and all I wanted was a biriyani and I got yellow tasteless rice

Had a takeaway from here. The worst curry I've ever had I think. I got a balti that tasted like supermarket coronation chicken. The other curries were awful too

Food came early. Couple of poppadoms and onion salad thrown in for free which was nice. Ordered a chicken dansak but unfortunately was brought a chicken korma instead. Tasty but its my least favourite curry hence the lower score. Also my lamb balti was overly sweet. Because of the error I'm more likely to try different place next time but shahi is normally really good.

A truly wonderful Indian! Great authentic flavours, plentiful portions and a friendly, punctual driver. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Top draw Vindaloo and Pasanda , ordered tonight after recommendation. Arrived on time , piping hot and so tasty . Vindaloo perfectly balanced and mushroom Bahji cooked gently and as a result full of flavour. Can’t wait for next time

The staff was friendly and attentive but the food took so long to arrive even though the restaurant wasn't really busy, food was good but some of the dishes were a bit bland.

Very disappointing food. Flavourless, hardly any meat in the curry, just a box of sauce. Very overcooked, dry bhajis. Samosa seemed like it was from a home freezer. Do not recommend.

I cancelled it with the restaurant immediately after placing order, they didn't start cooking it and said it would be fine to get a refund if I got in touch with just eat, have only just worked out how to use your app for complaints, please refund money to MasterCard used asap.

The takeaway was really bad. Didn’t taste good. Both us left most of the food. Really over priced for awful food. Won’t be ordering from here again.

Great food and great value for money. I love the crisp white tablecloths and the great service. The Shahi is very dependable, as we have been coming here for some years. Don't just stick with the mainstream dishes. I love the prawn satkora, and we come here especially for this dish

The mild curry was nice and the Naan was also amazing. However, I didn’t rate 5 stars because the packaging is horrible and always leaks. Kindly, change your packaging with more secure lids.

We ordered a takeaway from Shahi, they need to upgrade there menu and include rice with all the curries not just a few, the curry i ordered didn't come with rice which was very dissapointing.The food is nice, but very exspensive. Would i order again from here, probably not unless they change there menu.

We ordered delivery, sadly all 4 curries leaked out....the whole thing was a mess in the bag. Not happy with that! It would've been better if tight lidded containers were used for curries with sauce. I've given 1 star for atmosphere, because it spoilt our at home.

The food was mid, the curries were very unseasoned, but the naans and baajis were pretty nice. The worst part was the service. There were only three customers but the owner was very rude to other customers shouting and making the experience feel very uncomfortable until we were the only customers left. We only stayed because it was late in the evening and it was a last resort.

Myself and a few friends go down to Shari from time to time when the deal is on offer. Nan bread, starter, curry and a rice all for under £10 so not bad when you can't be bothered to cook. We always get the youngish waiter who takes his time to talk to you and make you feel welcomed. The food is pretty good, sometimes not enough when it comes to the main dish but I feel they do this because of the deal. The down side (which is always the case) we're always waiting at least 45 minutes for our food! They never seem to be in a rush to get your food out, even when it's not busy! Apart from that it's a decent meal and good for value.

The channa masala is good, so are the roti. Thankyou for the tasty food. will order again.

This is my favourite Indian food in town. We only live up the road but quite often get it delivered still. Its always delicious and never we are never disappointed with the generous portions and great choices. Peas Pilau is my life!

Finally ! After many years of searching , I had a curry yesterday evening on my 77th birthday the way they used to be back in the 1960s. I can only eat mild food and the chef made it exactly how I love it . Well done to the whole staff. I will now look forward to some takeaways . Thank you Best wishes Sylvia

Not sure if this was an off night based on other reviews but really dissapointed with our order. This was the first time ordering from here and will likely be our last. Cocount rice was bland and had no coconut flavour, so may as well have ordered boiled rice. Malaya was also bland, with little to no flavour. For a vegetable curry, there were 2 bits of potato at best and a solitary mushroom. Chana Ponir was again bland, no real distinct flavour. Fortunately Peshwari Naan was fine but didn't make up for the other dishes all lacking in flavour.

Horrible. I never write negative reviews but this was the worst Indian food I’ve ever had. Got the chicken korma and it was SO sweet, bland, and watery - just tasted like sugar and coconut milk. So sweet that I couldn’t eat it. Save your money.

The food was very bland. Very little vegetables in the vegetable curry. Coconut rice was like bad rice pudding. Couldn't recommend.

Great food, great service. Food was delivered hot and 1 hour early, the duck and lamb were very much well marinated and accompanied their respective sauces very well. Portions were fine. I appreciate the fact that the restaurant took care to read the note I left behind.

We ordered a takeaway. Onion bhajis were dry, think heated up more than three times over a few weeks, prior to being sent to us. Main meal of chicken biriany was full of oil and so salty. Stay away and don't waste your money!

I am extremely disappointed as my food was cold. Chicken was not properly cooked and the curry was below average. I was not expecting this at all. I would be expecting a refund from the restaurant as I feel the food was not up-to the standards.
