Traditional curry house that's really decent. Exactly what we wanted. Vindaloo is spicy but flavoursome. Highly recommended

A group of us went and we all enjoyed our food. I had the Chicken Pathia with rice and Sag Bhajee as a side dish with poppadoms. The prices were acceptable and although the restaurant was empty at 8pm when we entered other diners soon arrived. Although there are many Indian restaurants in the area this is one of the best and I think it is also open dinner time as well as every evening.

Met a mate for a curry. First time in Indiana. Had a table which the grandma and grandchild sat 2 tables away. Delivery drivers came in to give football lessons to the boy. The food came quickly which is always a worry. Rogan Josh lacked flavour, spice and was garnished with old coriander stems. The rice felt like it was old and microwaved. The nan was thin and lacked substance. Service was OK but having the family so close by felt like we was eating in someone's lounge! Definitely will never return! No wonder it was so dead.

Food and prices was okey and good service

Just been to Indiana Tandoori and had a super meal. I had Jalfry Lamb, fabulous, we all thoroughly enjoyed our food. Staff are attentive and pleasant.

Christmas Day: We eat here often and always love the food. So instead of paying £100 for a naff roast on Christmas Day we decided to go where we knew we would get great food for a fair price. As always food was great. Staff were lovely and attentive and the atmosphere was perfect. Look forward to next spending next Christmas at Indiana.

Food portions are extremely small. Barely any chicken in my curry. Asked for recommendations but staff didn't appear particularly warm. Noone smiled. And the tap water had a horrible after taste. Wouldn't recommend.

They do not know how to welcome customers. When I visited two days, first questions was Why ? . It is strange. I asked for a tissue paper, even that, they did not give to me. The portion is less. Staff members are not friendly.

It was so nice to eat at Indiana restaurant this week. We always get a warm welcome there. Really good menu. Very well priced. We ordered popadoms & chutneys. I had vegetable dhansak & my partner had chicken madras. Lots of wonderful flavours & lovely big portions. The staff are always very friendly & the service is quick & efficient. No complaints. Recommended

I went there in last month with some of my business partners.. then we ordered some tandoori dishes.. it was quite nice but their staff behaviour was so cheap as their boss.. then tried some sea food which wasn’t good enough.. it was a phenomenal experience I’ve ever had.. Their chef was main terrible person who hadn’t any manners that how to talk with the customers.. I would definitely not recommend to go there.. bcz the boss behaviour with the staff was so lame that made me so sad as well..

Pretty good Indian food and nice decor. Nothing particular special or that stands out taste or menu wise but an OK choice for a curry.

When we first arrived, our impression was that it's a very busy place, likely offering excellent service. The three of us friends were seated, and a grumpy old man asked if we wanted any papadams and how many. We requested just one plate, feeling unsure since every table had the same item. We thought it might be complimentary 😂( btw they charges us). Then we ordered biryani and balti; they were very dry, with a small quantity. We had to order again, this time Dhansak with rice. Honestly, none of these dishes were tasty or up to the mark in terms of quality. They all had a similar overly sweet taste. Adding to the disappointment, the service was not upto the mark. During our second order, that old man loudly criticized us to the other staff in their local Sylheti Bengali language, wondering why we girls were ordering repeatedly. Being Bengali ourselves, we understood the language. We cannot recommend this place. None of the items presented represented authentic South Asian food. Trust me, I'm saying this as someone who belongs to this culture.

I’ve been trying to find the best curry in Brighton & Hove for a long time. Finally I can say I’m extremely happy with the one I had this evening. Amazing food & service. UPDATE - been a few times since my first review. The food is not as good as it used to be, very disappointed. Portions have also been made smaller. Won’t be returning sadly.

Not unpleasant, but not exactly a wow either, just average. Food was OK, and service was good. Very warm inside (and we were by the door). Possibly needing some decoration, as it looked rather tired.

Indiana in Hove is still one of the best curry houses in Brighton. You always get a warm welcome & the food is always good & very well priced. We had a lovely meal there on Friday. Tasty onion bhajis & popadoms with chutneys to start & tandoori main with garlic naan. Been coming to Indiana for years & it never disappoints.

Lovely dinner and really nice service. I always like to try something new and I had lots to pick from here. The classics were also very tasty. The atmosphere inside was really relaxed too, but with attentive service. Just what we were looking for.

Let’s get the COVID thing out the way first, the restaurant has ample space to ensure everyone can social distance hand sanitiser was offered at various points inside and all the staff had face masks, I would say the restaurant is COVID safe It’s been a few years since I visited Indiana, it was always my first choice when I lived in Hove, the good news is it hasn't changed the food was tasty well spiced and fresh, whilst some Indian restaurants now resemble an operating theatre Indiana has stuck to its roots and I hope it never changes you will find all your favourites on the menu I had the king prawn on a freshly made puri and garlic chilly chicken everything was delicious, made me realise how much I miss Hove and Indiana

Not as good as it used to be portions have got smaller but last meal l had was not bad with very. Small portion of rice to go with currynoy

Extremely Rude Old Staff Member! Ordered food and two things wrong, phoned and happy to replace. This too a while, when i called a second time he shout at us (he didn’t speak english) then hung up on us twice. absolutely awful customer service, will never order from here again.

AVOID AVOID AVOID - RUDE AND AGGRESSIVE I visited last night, sipping my wine, eating a popadom and perusing the menu and I simply asked the waiter which vegetables were in the ‘Vegetable curries’ (and I asked if it were possible to have no carrots) The chef/owner came out to our table and aggressively started questioning my request to have no carrots. I quietly asked him if it were possible for a curry to be made without carrots and this appeared to send him into a rage, slamming the menu down in front of me. He could see the visible shock/fright that I got at his aggressive behaviour which reduced me to tears. We paid £24.15 for the popodoms, and a bottle of wine and promptly left. There is never an excuse to treat a customer like this.

Like most of the other reviews indicate, on first blush this appears an old school Indian curry house. Nothing wrong with that of course and stepping inside it did feel like being transported back to the 1970s. However, there was nothing old school about the surly, sneering waiters who probably haven't cracked a smile since 1976. Restaurants, particularly in Hove, have to try hard to attract customers given the amount of eateries in Church Road alone, so the lack of a warm welcome was completely baffling. In fact the way plates were plonked down, menus snatched away and the attempt to upsell everything - asking if we wanted another drink when we hadn't anywhere near finished the first - felt hostile. It is a shame because the food was pretty good and the bill very reasonable at £50 for two but we won't be coming back.

Authentic tasty food that will have you returning again and again

Went for birthday dinner , lovely restaurant, very nice decor , staff were friendly, polite and attentive without being overbearing . Food was absolutely delicious and reasonably priced . Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning in the future .

Tonight we ordered our first take away from Indiana Tandoori. We were very impressed by the quality of the food. We had a selection of dishes including vegetarian starters and mains. All were excellent : freshly prepared with quality ingredients , and all at a very reasonable price. We will certainly be going here again and would highly recommend.

Would highly recommend. Amazing atmosphere, gorgeous food. The Nali Gosht is definitely recommended, a lot of flavour, lamb very tender and they are willing to cook this at your desired heat. Staff were so friendly and made us feel so welcome. Will definitely be back, thank you Indiana.

We've been using Indiana for a while now and I must say each visit gets better and better. The staff are lovely and attentive. The food is full of flavour and always fresh. This restaurant is now our go to Indian, having tried a few in hove we are so pleased to find a decent family run one by our door step. Highly recommend. See you soon Indiana.

One of the worst restaurant I've ever known I tried there food that was so bad and there mango chutney was not frest.

I absolutely love this place. Last time I was there I said I fancied tandoori chicken but also fancied garlic chilli chicken.. They said why not have the two combined!! Amazing.. Great value, amazing service. We will be back.

This used to be our favorite Indian restaurant for my wife and I. We would always tip typically 10% and have been here on many occasions in the past. The last meal we had will be the last we ever will have in this restaurant . I am retired and recently recovering from serious medical treatment. I can not eat the size of meals i used to as my appetite has been affected. However we still ordered 4 starters for the two of us, then 3 sweets plus liqueur coffee but skipped the main course. We still spent more than £50 but we are not complaining about the cost. We were very upset by two separate members of staff who were very rude to us as we did not order a main course. One snatched the menus off the table in a very rude way and the other saying they were not a coffee shop. He further accused us that it was out intention all the way along not to have main courses and started to argue with us . He clearly in his opinion thought he was OK to do this. I have never been treated so disgustingly before in a restaurant . The owner/manager took our payment for the meal at the end who did have a very good attitude and manner and was smartly dressed, unlike the waiter's who served us. Pity his staff can not learn from him on how to treat customers. We will never return again to this restaurant . Their loss !! Once the recession really starts to hit, restaurants are going to have to fight hard to retain loyal customers . With this staff attitude, this restaurant will really struggle to retain loyal customers in the future.

Ok. So I went for a takeaway this evening. Ordered chicken tikka dansak, chicken tikka patia, ocra, spinach, Keema Nan and popadoms. What arrived, 15 minutes later!!!! Was a meal so gross I would have sent it back if I was sitting there. What I didn’t think of was it only took 15 minutes to prepare a meal like this but they did. But alarm bells were ringing but I carried on. At home the keema Nan, which is lamb based had a piece of lamb the size of a 10p piece and nothing more. Rip off. The two chicken meals were chewy and indigestible. The two side dishes were a splat at the bottom of the container so ripped off there. All in all, an awful meal. I would suggest you go across the road to one of the other restaurants. Terrible. Full stop.

The curry is average as best, lacks real quality. Gentleman next to our table found a knots of hair in his food which he made a fuss off throughout the restaurant. Made me think twice about eating my food. Won't be returning

Grabbed a takeaway from here on spec. The Chicken Ceylon was delicious, portion sizes were generous and the food was freshly cooked. Will definately be getting my take away from there again!

Really nice food, good service, and all for a pretty reasonable price. Used to come here a lot some years back, and returning was exactly like I remembered it, quality of food hasn't dropped, and staff are always friendly and generous, eveb offering a drink on the house. Definitely recommend for Indian cuisine. Update: returned again, really nice service, polite staff, good food, enjoyed it. Will definitely be returning in the future.

It was totally rubbish. We went there with family today and they disrespected us alot. The man who were the manager agree that he was drunk on duty and the man with white curly hair was so aggressive as soon as we finished our dinner we asked him to pack the remaining stuff he said to take the rubbish also along with us. Our kids got scared seeing their behavior. Being an Indian we decided to go to some Indian cousine but they are just making money at the cost of disrespecting their own community. Good service. This evening, however, I couldn't be bothered to cook,so I walked three minutes around the corner.I couldn't eat it all, although I've been going there on and off for four years or so. I've just come home, went to clean my teeth and was suddenly sick as a dog. I had the Pudina chicken. When I called them they had remembered me and they assured me this will be taken off the menu until this was sorted out. My point is that this didn't seem to be a surprise. Been many times but this was the worst. Not a busy night and maybe that was the problem. Sons curry tasted very strange, when pointed out nothing was done. Picked up a takeaway here last night. It was delicious and ingredients tasted fresh. There were no leftovers as the family devoured it. The chef onviously knows what he's doing. We haven't had a takeaway in Hove as good as this, in a long time....

A great restaurant with great service. Every time we come here the people are very friendly, service is quick and the food is great. We've been trying many different dishes on the menu and have never been disappointed! During the November lockdown we will definitely be using their take away and/or delivery service!

The reason I’m giving it a 2 star review, is due to the fact that there is poor customer service. Me and my family had to wait 50 minutes for the food to be finally ordered, and to make matters worse, there were only a few families in the restaurant. After being served, we asked for the air-con to be on (understandably because what do you expect after sitting for basically an hour in the same place on a hot Summer’s day) and well... the air-cons werent working. The food in the restaurant was average but that doesnt make up for the poor customer service.
