Shahi Nan Kebab House in Birmingham

Well I came here around 20 years ago and quite ashamed to say that the food was total crap. Too much spices in all of the food. The mutton tikka was burnt the sheek kabab was hard and very spicy asked and they said medium spicy and it was too hot to handle and the chicken tikka was ok then nan was too small just for the plate I would not recommend to go and try this place try shahi nan just up the road 100 times better

Need to improve lot of things, only mutton kabab was good, nothing else

Horrible place, £7 masala fish I'm sure was old and they just microwaved it, nasty, I make much better at home. What a waste of money honestly what a bad experience. Their kebabs are such little portions too, avoid like the plague

Please do read your notes we asked for 6 tubs of sauce and only got 4 ..we ordered a kebab roll which requires 2 tubes, 3 katlamas which require 6 tubs 2 portions of kebabs which require 2 tubs ..even 6 won’t do as they only half full ….food is great but the sauce also makes the food go down well

Shahi Nan Kebab is a small, no-frills spot that delivers big on flavour. The kebab rolls were fantastic—fresh, well-seasoned, and packed with flavour. The portions were generous, and the naan was perfectly soft yet slightly crisp on the edges. That said, the service was a bit slow, so be prepared to wait a little. The biggest drawback for me was that it’s cash only, which isn’t ideal in this day and age. Luckily, I had some cash in my car, but I usually never carry any. A card machine would make things much more convenient. Overall, if you’re after a quality kebab and don’t mind the wait (or carrying cash), it’s definitely worth a visit.

6 tables and there was only one person serving, just for water had to ask for 3 times.

We’ve been eating here for years and years. However since it seems new management has taken over, it’s entirely gone down hill. The kebabs have increased in size which is the only plus side. Now they’re so spicy- that it ruins the meal.. and the naan are basically long life flatbreads from a packet that have been heated up and taste like rubber. Gone are the days of the soft pillowey fresh naans.

This is very average place and food is also likewise , as I had Kebab they were ok but katlama was horrible I just wasted 3£ for nothing plus I got trauma after eating that because it was that bad , it was feeling it was 3-4 days old and they just microwave it and serve it So it's ok if you want Kebab you can go to this place

I recently dined at shahi nan kabab and was extremely disappointed with the experience. The restaurant appeared unhygienic, with staff handling food without gloves and wearing visibly dirty clothing. The service was also poor, with rude staff and unnecessary delays. I will not be returning to this restaurant and strongly advise others to avoid it.

Food was tasty but cold. Delivery was delayed 3 times. It took hour and a half to receive food.

only 4 peices of chicken pakioras given, the prawn balti masala was not cooked well. won't be ordering from them again. Disappointed with their standards

Unfortunately food was not good taste less food and untrained staff poor service.

Ordered 4 keema naan. Waited over 30min. Apparently they can’t cook keema naans when they’re already cooking plain naans. Did not advise there would be a delay. Simply took my money and made me wait whilst regularly telling me another 5mins. Poor poor poor and quite disrespectful service. No courtesy!!

I ordered chicken and spinach (via uber) ...a v poor show. I got about five small pieces of chicken hidden under the rest - which was spinach. Ratio about a quarter meat to three quarters spinach if that. There was little flavour other than chilli. Very unlike Asian takeaways to be so tight fisted with the portions.....not a good way to earn your money SNK! Definitely won't order again or recommend as you are basically paying for a bowl of v chillified spinach. No issues with the uber order which was fine- the star was for the driver!

Been eating from here for many a year On this occasion ordered some sheekh kebab on naan, fries and some mutton tikka Mutton tikka was packed full of flavour 👌 💯 🔥 , absolutely mouthwatering, bite after bite it had my taste buds tingling Sheekh kebabs are on s a different level to all other places, always on point, absolutely banging as always 🔥🔥🔥 My personal opinion the sheekh kebabs are the best in Birmingham Definitely RECOMMEND this place for their mutton tikka and sheekh kebabs

Burnt naan and burnt kebabs. Threw it in the bin. Tried calling to talk to the manager but never answered.

Have been going to this palce for about 20 years but last few years it has gone down hill, The workers are scruffy and the place is filthy and even the glass cold food counter at the front has green mould visible, The workers always arguing with each other and slamming plates , The food portions are tiny, The naan is the size of 50p and taste like crisp, Unbelievable

curry was spilled inside entire contents of bag. Everything inside was covered. Asked for NO egg but there was lots of it inside the curry! My wife has an egg allergy but ofcourse the restaurant doesn't give a damm about that so shoved plenty of eggs inside. Called the restaurant to complain but again illiterate staff trying to run a business doesn't help so again of no use rather than wasting my own time. Wouldn't order from here again!!

One naan was missing and when I opened the rotis and naans they were completely hard unfortunately we couldn’t break with hands or teeth i will never order roti or naan from here again because of this experience today the spinach was ok but really needed some spice it was too bland. Usually this restaurant is good.

Unbelievable ordered the 2 sheesh kebabs in naan this is what I got… Terrible portion at first glanced I thought the waiter had forgotten to put the sheesh kebabs on the naan further inspection 2 little kebabs were tucked under the salad maybe to keep them warm. The naans were dry as cardboard & the fries showed up 15 minutes later.. No customer service skills what so ever. Won’t be going in again

The aloo tikkis were really soggy and all broke as they were all bagged together and the masala fish was so tough we couldnt eat it. Shame because the food from here is always lovely.

sorry for the negative feedback, however reason is this is not the shahi nan " i once knew", they may have changed owners i am not sure, but these are not the sheesh kebabs that they were known for, if you are coming a long way for these kebabs just a heads up they are not the same, it may have been a odd day that i came but i doubt this as the taste has been consistent when i use to go , it does not have that taste which is why i suspect it has for sure changed. i am writing this for people who may come a long way for these kebabs, their are alternatives in Birmingham maybe not sheesh kebabs but im sure alternatives. OWNER IF YOU THINK MY COMMENTS ARE NOT FAIR PLEASE RESPOND. Am i making this up?

I went with my wife yesterday for a late lunch and the place was full of flies and just like what the previous reviewer wrote there was urine smell coming into the main eating area. We ended up leaving our food and after leaving we were itching and had insect bites. We’ve been going to shahi naan for many years but the customer service and the quality of the food has definitely gone downhill and after yesterday’s experience will be definitely avoiding this place.

Had 3 small pitta in sheesh kebab, 3 fries - they delayed the fries for no reason, brought the sheesh kebabs but no fries, when we complained, he brought 1 fries , no apology, needs to learn about customer service, service was much better previously, food was ok but the customer service was terrible!

I have been going to Shahi Kebabhouse since they were located on the Soho Road, I have not been in a year but today I was so disappointed, the cutlery served was dirty , and the naans were definitely shop bought not fresh, the Sheek kebab was small in size and worst of all, I had an upset stomach as did my daighter on the way home, after over 15 years of making a bee line for the place I will be avoiding it.

Ordered a large kebab Roll in nan also ordered a portion of kebabs There was no salad in the Roll and The kebabs were really dry!! The price you pay for the food The Quality of kebabs should match the price you pay won't be ordering again!!!

over priced karahi. i was in the assumption it will be outstanding....BUT it was not even a karahi...tasted like a normal curry. however i would not order curries from there again OVERPRICED.

Not very welcoming, and food was below average.

Had a takeaway, cash only place. Biryani was really nice, haleem and nan was nice but expected a bit of extra flavour. Decent place although the front doesn't look appealing to go in. Decent food so couldn't complain and service was friendly.

Went here on recommendation as I was visiting Birmingham. Food took long time to arrive and arrived at different intervals. The hygiene seemed poor and put me off the place. The lamb chops were rubbery. The mango lassi was only thing that was nice. The naan were too big for the amount of meat and salad served. Just not my type of eatery..

samosa r awful from here. plz improve your recipe. it was soaking in oil. plz heat the oil properly before frying them. that way the pastry won't absorb so much oil!!! food is usually good. u just need to take a bit more care and thought to the way you cook maybe? thankyou..

Ordered sheesh kebabs and shammi kebabs. They were undercooked and basically raw. Straight in the bin. I obviously won’t be returning. Avoid.

Just ordered chapli kebab and it's raw meat from middle. Not cooked. They often give over cooked and burnt lamb chops but we give them the benefit of the doubt because of how busy it is but undercooked meat will cause health concerns. I'd like a refund and a good will gesture

The window display suggests the best kebabs in town but are they actually the best kebabs in town? Read on to find out what this layperson thinks! Having dropped my party off outside, I headed off to find adequate parking on a Saturday evening. I gave up hope looking for street parking so reluctantly parked my car at a pay and display car park about 5 mins away. The walk on the way back is good if you have over eaten like I did so it could be a plus point! Anyways we ordered our food with specific instructions however as this being a one waiter joint, those instructions were not followed by the 3 men in the kitchen who must have been occupied perfecting the kebabs. When the kebabs arrived, they were fresh and looked appetising. Resting on a fluffy naan, I poured some sauces to the side and tore off a piece of naan along with a kebab. Taking a bite, I was quite surprised at how good these kebabs tasted. It’s not common to find a place to serve up good naans but Shahi Naan did their best which was good enough. I was glad I ordered the large which comes with 3 kebabs as opposed to the miserly small portion of 2. If you couldn’t see or hear the rain outside, you could convince yourself you were sitting in a restaurant in the heart of Pakistan with the interior to match any place in our homeland. After indulging myself, I was tempted to order another one but my head outfought my stomach this time so I did not bother. The waiter was apologetic at the end that the specific instructions were not followed but with the Britishness in me, I was the one who apologised to him for giving him such difficult or any instructions at all. All in all, I would say it is hard to argue against their motto of being the best kebabs in town. Therefore you can safely put the phone down to Trading Regulations as there is no doubt.

The food here is DIVINE! Me and my grandfather regularly go visit this place. My personal favourite which they do best is seekh kebabs. The mint sauce is homemade and a cool refreshing sauce to your spicy sensations. The staff are extremely helpful and patient.

Great food but beware if you get takeaway, they don't wrap it in foil so everything spills inside the bag, it's impossible to eat in the car or even on the go, have to sit down

Vile food. I went late night. Their food is precooked and they heat it up. Their best seller is a dry flat bread with two rubbery kebabs loaded with salt. Gave me an upset stomach but I wasn’t surprised. A friend who has the worst recommendations took me here - I should have known better but it was too late. Fries were hot but thats the only good thing.

I remember this place since my childhood days and till this date, the level of care, food and service is superb. The staff are friendly, the food is appetizing and mouth watering and the atmosphere is always splendid and spectacular. This truly is a great place to go to, regardless of whether you're with friends or with family, the experience is always wonderful.

Good food . Very brilliant service. Had a problem with my order . Told the young man with a beard. I sure he is the owner . Replaced my item straight away then further apologised for the mistake. Even though it wasnt his fault. Great guy great service definitely recommend this place.

Had meat byrani but there’s wasn’t enough meat. They filled the plate with too much rice but cheaped out on meat . Though not cheap; cost £10 for meat byrani.

Should be 0 star. We ordered mix grill for 20 pounds. We ended up getting small pieces in a small plate that were also heavily burnt. So if you want burnt grill, come to this place. We complained, the waiter said it's ok, I then asked him that would you eat this? He then said let me tell the grill man. As he told the grill man, he got turned away by the grill man and came back and told us that it's ok you can eat. I then had to get up, go to the grill man myself and tell him that he served me burnt grill. To my surprise he was still telling me it's ok. But then he took the plate off me. I then proceeded to just have the chicken curry. I won't be going back here again as the service was poor just as well as the menu that was falling apart and the grill is burnt and it seems their speciality of serving burnt grill.
